Here you go guys! Off vacation so chapters might come out faster, but I have a ton of honors projects to do before school starts! Procrastination right here.
Everyone left the room leaving Caspian and Susan all alone. Caspian walked up to her with a concentrated face. He took her arm and looked at her cut. He cringed a little and went to the desk. He pulled out bandages and came back to her. He started wrapping her arm and everything was quiet. Susan knew if he was quiet, Caspian was hurting and locking in his emotions.
Susan said quietly, "Caspian. Did they say something to you? What's wrong?"
Caspian just shook his head and mumbled, "What they said to you Susan, that's what's wrong. If I wasn't tied up, if I were stronger, none of this would have happened."
Susan put her hand on Caspian's cheek and pushed it lightly to look at her. She said, "Caspian you are strong. When they tied you up, you were unarmed."
He had sadness in his eyes. "I'm more upset about something else."
"What is it? Was it Kale?"
He shook his head and said, "Why would they form a group to hate me? Am I that bad of a King? What have I done wrong?" He looked sadder by each question pondering his mind.
"Caspian, if you were such an awful King, would Aslan crown you one? It's just people wanting to not have any rules. If there weren't any rules, there would be chaos."
Caspian's face didn't look as sad. It softened a bit. He said, "I'm so lucky to have someone like you."
Susan smirked, "Love is mysterious in many ways." She kissed Caspian lovingly. When they pulled away Caspian yawned. Susan suppressed a laugh, "I think it's time for bed."
Edmund, with the crew members escorted William and Kale to the cells. When they got in there Edmund said, "I didn't think we'd have to use these, especially on you Kale."
They closed the cell doors and locked them. William ran to the door and yelled, "I'll get out of here somehow! Do you hear me? None of you Narnians are safe!"
Edmund replied, "Whatever helps you sleep at night." The crew members chuckled at Edmund's statement.
The next morning, everyone was on the deck except Susan and Caspian. Everyone was talking about what had happened last night. Peter asked Edmund, "So, how did everything happen?"
Edmund groaned in annoyance. "I don't know. Only Caspian and Susan know everything. Knowing the two of them, would you think they'd say everything?"
Frederick asked Lucy, "Did you hear about your sister and Caspian? That's just crazy."
"Yeah I know. The whole crew is talking about it. I feel like when both or one of them walks out of that room it will be awkward."
Frederick smiled, "I agree, but that's when we make it less awkward."
"How?"
"We…. I don't know act like we normally would around them. Pretend nothing weird happened last night."
Lucy scoffed, "We can't just pretend nothing happened last night, because something did happen last night."
Frederick nudged her lightly, "Sorry Lu, I was just trying to lighten the mood. It looks like everyone feels betrayed, especially those who were friends with Kale."
"I know I feel so bad. I just can't believe the two of them pulled it off so well."
Susan and Caspian woke up around the same time that morning. Susan and Caspian were lying in bed next to one another. Susan looked into his brown eyes and whispered, "I don't want to go out there. Everyone knows about it."
Caspian looked at her sympathetically. "You can stay in here. It's okay."
"No, I don't want to be alone, and I don't want to seem cowardly. Anyway, I want to have a discussion with our traitors." Susan grabbed Caspian's hand and squeezed lightly as she said, "Together?"
He squeezed back and said, "Together."
They dropped hands, got out of bed, and walked out of the room. It was as awkward as Frederick thought it would be. The whole crew turned their attention to Caspian and Susan and got quiet. Caspian cleared his throat and became the King he was. He said in a stern tone, "I know a lot of you know what happened last night. Queen Susan and I are fine. I know many of you have questions, but Queen Susan and I cannot answer any. All you need to know is William and Kale betrayed all of us, most importantly, they betrayed Narnia. That is all."
Then everyone turned their attention away from the two monarchs. Susan walked close behind Caspian as they made their way to the cells. Before they walked into the cells, Susan pulled back on Caspian's arm. He turned around confused. Susan gave him pleading eyes and said, "Please don't go in there. I need to do this by myself. If you're in there, I mean they wanted to kill you."
Caspian thought about it for a few seconds. He sighed and said, "If you need anything, just call for me. I'll be right out here."
Susan nodded and walked into the cells. She saw the two prisoners sitting in the corner of the cell. She walked in determined and proud, standing tall. William spoke first, "Well, well, well, isn't this a surprise? Queen Susan here to talk to us? I'm just honored."
Susan said 'a-matter-of-factly', "You should be. It's not every day a Queen talks to her traitors. Especially, the ones who try to kill her husband."
William chuckled, "Well said Queen Susan. What gives us this honor?"
Susan stood her ground. "I want to know more about these free men. Why do you revolt against the King?"
William answered, "We hate having to follow rules that we don't agree with. We can't move from the country because we don't have money for taxes. We live in a no-rule place."
"Where is that exactly?"
"Careful now Queen Susan, that is a top secret answer."
Susan scoffed, "You're really not going to tell the Queen, who can kill you instantly. Where is this place?"
"Nope. Kale and I would rather die than tell anyone."
Susan turned her attention to Kale. "You're not saying much Kale. I thought we were friends."
Kale looked at Susan straight in the eyes. "We were never friends. All of you monarchs fell for everything. I was spying on all of you for William. I was the one to sneak him on the ship. We killed one of your guards to get a hammock for him."
Susan felt so hurt. She never had anyone fool her like that. Susan didn't show her emotion though. She wanted them to see her as calm and collected. William smiled lightly, "Does the Queen not have anything to say to that?"
Susan answered strictly, "I have many things to say to that, but I'm sure you already know what I would say. You both answered my questions sufficiently."
Susan quickly walked out of the cells, letting her emotions show along the way. Tears started to fall from both eyes, and her breathing was replaced with sobs. She ran out of the door and bumped right into Caspian. He smiled at her appearance, but it dropped when he saw her face. He pulled her into his chest and whispered so the crew wouldn't hear, "What did they say to you?"
Susan said breathlessly into his chest, "It's just, Kale. I thought he was our friend, but he hates all of us. He was spying on us for William."
Caspian comforted her by rubbing her hair lightly. "Shh. Shh. It's okay. Being royalty means not being able to trust a lot of people. Everyone wants power in some way, it's a lot harder being High King than people think."
Susan clutched onto Caspian tighter and said, "Tell me about it." Susan pulled away from him and sniffled. She said, "Do I look like I've been crying?"
Caspian looked at Susan's puffy red eyes and nose. "Just a little." Susan looked dissatisfied and Caspian added, "But it's okay, we can say you had some kind of baby connection and those were tears of joy."
Susan suppressed a laugh, "You're so weird."
Caspian shrugged his shoulders. "I know, but it's one of the many things you love about me."
Susan then let the held beck laugh out. She hugged him again and whispered, "I'm so glad I came back to Narnia."
Caspian smiled, "Took you two years to finally say that."
Marianna watched from afar, Susan and Caspian's embrace. She sighed heavily. Edmund came from behind her and said, "You have a different reaction between the two of them than me. You sigh in awe, while I feel like I'm going to gag."
"Why is that King Edmund? Do you not like the sight of love?"
Edmund chuckled. "No. I just like to mess with my sister. I'm happy for her. She found the right man to fall in love with. It seems as if she's not the only one who fell in love with him."
Marianna looked at the ground feeling guilty. "It's not hard to fall in love with someone who actually cares. I've never had anyone care about me." Edmund opened his mouth, but Marianna started to rant. "My father beat my mother to death when I was five. He blamed it on me, because she didn't think that my father should be drunk all the time around their little girl. My mother got into a huge argument and my mother was going to leave with me. My father protested by beating her to death. He would beat me all the time. I would have to care for myself, he never cared. One night I left when he was passed out. I lived in the woods for so many years. Caspian is the first man who's cared, it's not that hard to fall in love with him."
Edmund didn't know what to say. He was almost speechless. He finally said, "I will never know how bad your life has been personally, but you need to know that you'll find someone just as great as Caspian someday. You need to let him go. He's married and happy."
Marianna thought that she couldn't let go, not just yet. Edmund then said, "Since I already have you. Do you mind doing a job?" Marianna nodded and Edmund continued, "Can you go feed our two prisoners please?"
Marianna nodded once again and walked away. She went to go get some pickles and water. After that, she had to walk past Caspian and Susan to get to the cells. She walked past and Caspian asked, "Hello Marianna, how have you been?"
Marianna looked into his deep drown eyes and said with distraught, "Horrible."
Susan looked back and forth between the two of them. She said quietly and politely, "I'll let you two talk." Susan looked at Caspian one last time before walking away.
Caspian crossed his arms and waited for Marianna to say something. Marianna blurted, "I know you don't want to hear this, but I still love you."
Caspian said strained, "Marianna…."
"No. Listen to me please. I know you don't feel the same way, but it's going to take some time for my feelings for you to disappear. I just wanted you to know." She walked into the cells without letting Caspian even say anything else. She didn't want to hurt any more than she already did.
Marianna walked into the cells with confidence in her step. She felt good getting that off her chest. She walked into the cells and William whistled. "Here to bring us our food pretty girl? How about put on a show?"
"Here's your food. I hope you enjoy it." She pushed the tray underneath the cell door. Before she walked away, William yelled, "What's a beautiful girl like yourself on a trip like this?"
Marianna stopped walking and turned around. She asked, "You think I'm beautiful?"
William smiled at her. "Yes. I think you're one of the most beautiful here."
Marianna looked glum. "You seem to be the only one who thinks that."
Kale answered. "I think everyone believes you're the most beautiful one here. They're just too shy to say it out loud."
Marianna smirked. "Well thank you and to answer your question I'm on this trip to leave my past."
William looked at her sympathetically, "Please. Come tell us about it. We're very good listeners."
Susan saw Rose walking on the deck with less of a limp. Susan made her way over to her. Susan said, "How are you doing? You seemed distraught last time I spoke to you."
Rose looked around. "To be honest I am very upset Susan. I just can't take any more deaths."
Susan gave her a gentle compassionate look. "I promise Rose. No more deaths. Just remember I'm always here for you. Queen to Queen."
Susan smiled kindly before walking away. Rose grabbed her hand in protest. Susan turned around and Rose had a grateful look on her face. "Thank you Susan. You've been so kind to me."
"And I always will be." Surprisingly, Rose pulled Susan into a tight embrace. Susan was startled at first and hugged back. Rose said, "I actually need to tell you something."
Rose tugged Susan into her own room. Rose chanted something and turned into her true form, Adeline. Susan gasped in a convincing way. Adeline said, "This is who I am. You showed me that Kings and Queens aren't what they used to be. I'm sorry for almost killing you by the way."
Susan had a shocked looked, "No worries, like I said before we're all forgiven in the end."
Adeline sighed, "If only all royalty were like you. They weren't always so nice when Telemarines ruled Narnia. As you know, all the creatures of Narnia lived in peace and harmony. I lived when you were Queen and your brother was High King. I was born three years before all of you disappeared. My mother was an enchantress as was my father. They taught me magic. I'm still living because I found a spell that I would never die from old age. Anyway, everyone was so sad you were all gone. The beavers and especially. We Narnians still lived in peace until other countries fought for power over this magical land. Eventually the Telemarines ruled, and Narnians started to diminish. My parents died for not doing what was told. I ran away, alone and scared. I was the last enchantress knowing the old magic of Narnia. When I was older, I fell in love, having my son Bilias. Soon the kingdom knew of my power. They killed my husband by not telling the King of my power. I sent my son away to pirates to protect him. Then, the King put me behind bars. He made me use my magic for evil things. If I didn't, he would destroy towns and villages. Eventually, I escaped killing anything in my path, including the King. I swore to myself I would kill the Telemarine King so no more strife would happen in Narnia. When all of the Kings and Queens of old came back, I decided I would kill them too. Because when they left all of this happened. When you married a Telemarine King I knew this was the worst scenario. I wanted to take over the kingdom to save it. When I heard you were pregnant, I knew I had to take action. A child of a Telemarine King and Queen of old? Two of my people on the killing list. Now I know that not all monarchs are like that anymore, thanks to you Queen Susan."
Susan didn't know where to begin. She said, "Adeline. I am so sorry you felt that way when my siblings and I left. We never ever meant for Narnia to fall like that. We loved Narnia and its people more than anything. When we left, we couldn't come back."
Adeline sighed, "I'm glad that's what happened. Most of us old Narnians thought you abandoned Narnia."
"I promise you. None of us will or would ever try that. Also, I am very sorry for the loss of your son. I wish there would be a way for you to say one last thing mother to son. I know I would want to."
Adeline sniffled. "Yes. I miss him dearly, but I know he was a true fighter."
Susan lightly held Adeline's frail hand. "I want to ask you something. For all this terrible stuff happened to you. I know nothing will ever mend your heart going through something like this. I would want to know if you would like to be Narnia's official enchantress. I promise to not use your magic for evil, but for good. You could live and learn in the palace. We have so many old books on old Narnian magic."
Adeline looked into Susan's gentle soft-blue eyes. Adeline gave her a small smile and said, "I would be honored. But you must keep to your promise, only for good."
"I always keep to my promises, Adeline. Now, let's go outside. You as your true self. I will announce you in front of everyone. Properly."
Adeline looked down embarrassed. "I don't know Queen Susan. Wouldn't everyone hate me?"
"No one could truly hate anyone. Besides everyone's aiming their anger towards William and Kale."
"Ok. I think my introduction should wait until we get off of this trip."
"However you feel most comfortable. I'll be right outside on the deck, or somewhere." Susan walked out of her room, and Lucy ran into her. Susan asked, "What's all the rush for Lu?"
Lucy said breathlessly, "I've been looking all over for you. We think we've found the island. It's over there."
Lucy pointed in the direction of a different looking island. In the distance, was a white thick fog surrounding the island. Susan felt drawn to go there. She asked, "Is everyone sure that's the one?"
Lucy nodded her head fast. "In the old stories, it says every man and woman would feel drawn to it, even though it would seem not too appealing. Do you feel drawn? Because everyone does, we asked."
Susan said, "Yes." She ran up to the top deck where Caspian, Peter, and Edmund were already standing. Susan asked, "Are you ready to face your fears?"
All three looked at her and Peter spoke up for all of them, "Ready as we'll ever be."
And next chapter is finally on the island! Please review some more baby names. I got a lot from last chapter, but I like seeing some of them. Please Review, Follow, and/or Favorite.
