"Are you dating someone right now?" He asked me over the call that night.

That was the last thing I expected him to ask.

"Why?" I asked.

"I'm trying to see if Carlie has a father figure in her life." He said.

As if she had managed not to mention him if she had some father figure in her life!

"What if she has one?" I asked.

"Then I need to figure out where I stand in her life," he said.

"It should not change anything." I said, "You are her father."

"Right." he said sarcastically, "And you had no intention of ever telling me that."

"Edward... Alright, I fucked up! And I'm really sorry for that!" I said, "But I will not do anything to keep her away from you now."

"I am not even going to allow you to keep her away from me." he said, "If you ever try to do something stupid, you're going to see the worst of me."

"I'm not planning to do anything like that, so can you please stop with this threatening tone?" I rolled my eyes, "And no. I'm not dating anyone."

"Ummm... So I was thinking about everything today... And I was wondering, you know?" He said, "Do you want to go out with me? For dinner? I mean, I was thinking why don't we start dating? Why don't we give it another shot?"

I couldn't believe he just said that!

Like... Dating? Seriously?

Trust him to come up with some random, stupid, impulsive ideas!

"I mean, there is no 'long distance' factor now, which is a positive thing, I guess?" he said, "And we both know where we fucked up, so we won't repeat our mistakes, which is also a positing thing."

"Well, why don't you get the divorce first?" I asked.

"I wish it was that easy!" he sighed.
