Here you go guys! I wanted to post this yesterday, but yesterday was my birthday! Finally 16! HOORAY! Well enough about me...enjoy!
The family walked up to the castle through the village. They watched as crew members reunited with their families. They all smiled at the sights. Some of the families saw their Queen with a baby bump and whispered. But Susan knew they were whispers of excitement. The High King and Queen of Narnia with a child? That would be the talk of the country.
They made their way up to the castle where they were greeted by their servants and people with open arms. Susan asked, "Where is Queen Louise and King Peter?"
One of the maids said, "In the healing room your grace."
Susan ran up the stairs of the castle into the giant halls she had been in so long ago. Her heels clicked against the white marble. She finally made her way through the winding halls of the castle to the doors her brother, sister-in-law, and niece or nephew were in. Susan took a deep breath before walking in.
There before her was a smiling Louise and Peter. And something small was placed in Peter's hands. Susan walked up slowly, and Louise and Peter looked up slowly. They gave Susan a surprised smile. Louise held out her arms to give Susan a hug. Susan felt tears falling as she fast walked over to her best friend. Louise squeezed Susan tightly and whispered, "I'm glad to see you're not dead."
Susan choked out, "I'm glad to see you're finally a mother. Is it a boy or girl?"
Peter replied, "He's a boy, and his name is Princeton."
Susan pulled out of the embrace to see the small bundle Peter held in his strong arms. Susan looked at her nephew and smiled. The baby had blue eyes like his mother and blonde fuzz on the top of his head.
Susan asked, "May I hold him? I know you just got him…."
Before Susan could say anything else, Peter handed Princeton to Susan. Louise said motherly, "Remember to keep his head up."
Susan held him and looked at his face more closely. She said in happiness, "He's beautiful."
Both Peter and Louise said at the same time, "Thank you." The two then looked at each other and smiled. Susan giggled as well.
Susan looked at Princeton and said quietly, "Hello little guy. I'm your Aunt Susan. Yeah."
Louise and Peter both laughed. Peter asked, "Why is it when women talk to baby's, they talk in a cute baby voice?"
Louise shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe because we see something cute so we need to act that way too."
Princeton was falling asleep, and Susan handed him to an eager Louise. Peter said to his wife, "I'm going to find Caspian and talk to him, alright? Will you be okay?"
Louise nodded, "I think I can handle it with Susan."
Peter leaned in and quickly kissed Louise before leaving. Susan walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. She asked, "How much did it hurt?"
Louise looked up at Susan and said, "To be honest with you, it was painful. The contractions were the worst part." She looked back down at her sleeping newborn. "But it's all worth it in the end though."
Susan smiled brightly. "I just can't believe you and Peter are parents."
"You'll be one soon enough."
After that, Lucy can through the doors. She gasped and smiled when she saw Louise holding the baby. Lucy ran up to Louise and looked down at him. She asked, "Is it a he? What's his name?"
Louise giggled, "His name is Princeton."
Lucy smiled at her sleeping nephew. Lucy asked, "May I hold him?"
Louise handed the sleeping newborn to Lucy. Lucy cuddled him and said, "So he's a little prince of Narnia. Prince Princeton. It's like a play on words."
Lucy handed Princeton back his tired mother. Louise yawned loudly. She looked at Susan tiredly. "I feel like I'm going to pass out at any given time. Can you give Princeton to Pete for me?"
Susan nodded, "But of course." She cradled the baby in her arms and searched for Peter with Lucy by her side.
Peter walked through the castle halls in search for Caspian and Edmund. He found out that they were in Caspian's study. He went straight there to find both men talking in a frustrated manner. Peter came in and asked, "What happened this time? I swear I leave for an hour."
When Caspian and Edmund heard Peter, their faces turned from frustrated and stressed to smiles. Edmund said, "Congratulations, Peter."
Peter sighed, "Thank you. But what is actually going on?"
Caspian and Edmund both looked at one another and back at Peter. Caspian said, "William, Kale, and Marianna are the only crew members missing from the trip."
Peter's face turned into anger. "What?! Did Marianna let them go? Why would she do something like that?"
Edmund replied, "We think William is a good manipulator. Also, her loving Caspian, and him not really loving her back might have had something to do with that as well."
Peter started pacing angrily, "Well isn't that just great? We had the leader of that group in our grasp and now he's gone. Just wonderful. Did either of you know that they want to get rid of all the possible leaders of Narnia? Did either of you also know if, Aslan forbid, Caspian and Susan go Louise and I become the high King and Queen and my son becomes the heir? Did you also know that my son is so vulnerable at this age he can be kidnapped or killed very easily? He's probably a main target right now."
Caspian sighed, "Yes Peter we know all of that. You need to calm down. Did you know your son is well protected in this castle, with guards and people who love him?"
Peter stopped pacing, and his face softened as he turned to face his brother-in-law. Peter sighed, "Yes, I know but, there's always that chance."
Caspian nodded. "I know. There's always that chance of everything. There's a chance of Susan dying at birth and there's a chance that any of us monarchs can be betrayed and killed. But here we stand."
Peter nodded his head, "You're right. I just….becoming a father now means I have to protect this baby with my life along with Louise and family."
Then there was a knock at the door. Peter opened it and his two sisters were standing in front of him with Princeton in Susan's arms. Before Peter could ask anything, Susan said, "Louise is really tired, she wanted you to take care of Princeton."
Peter carefully put Princeton in his arms and whispered to Caspian and Edmund, "We'll continue this later. Let's all cool down and relax."
Peter walked out of the room with Lucy following him. She was babbling on and on about baby stuff to Peter while they walked out. Susan still stood at the front of the door with her arms crossed. "What were you three talking about?"
Caspian shook his head, "Nothing. How about we go outside the castle and let our fellow Narnians know about everything?"
Susan looked at him like he wasn't telling her everything. Then Caspian held out his arm for Susan to take. She walked with him through the castle quietly. Before they got to the balcony to see the people of Narnia, Caspian stopped and blurted out, "You would tell me if I was a horrible King right?"
Susan looked at him confused, "I would let you know if you were doing something wrong, but I would never call you a horrible King because you're not. Why? Was that your fear?"
Caspian avoided Susan's bright blue eyes as he said, "Yes. My father was disappointed in me for being a horrible King."
Susan touched his face with one of her hands and pulled it to look into her eyes. "Caspian you are a great King. If people don't think you are a great one, then I don't know what is."
They looked into each other's eyes for a while. Susan was waiting for a response from Caspian. He surprisingly pulled her in for a big hug. Susan squeezed him back for comfort. When they pulled out of the embrace, Caspian said, "Now let's go see the Narnian people. I'm sure they'll be pleased to hear that you're pregnant, and Louise gave birth to a healthy baby boy."
He put out his arm for Susan to take. She smiled at his gesture and wrapped her arm around his. They both let out a deep breath before walking out onto the balcony of the castle. When they walked out, they were welcomed by the warm sun and cheers from the Narnian people.
Susan and Caspian both smiled brightly at all of them. Their cheers stopped to hear what their King had to say. Caspian said as loud as he could, "Hello our fellow Narnians. As you can see we made it back from our trip. Unfortunately, a few of our crew members didn't make it back. Let us have a moment of silence for the brave soldiers." It was quiet for a minute and Caspian continued, "On a brighter note, we as your leaders have some news to share. Queen Louise has given birth to a healthy baby boy. Your new prince is named Princeton." Caspian kept quiet for a little for people to cheer and talk amongst themselves. He continued, "We also have some more good news. Queen Susan is pregnant now."
There was a loud roar of cheers and discussion in crowd after Caspian said that. Caspian turned to see Susan turning a little pink at the cheeks. They both waved at the Narnian people one last time before walking back into the castle.
They came back inside and Susan smiled at Caspian. She said, "Would a horrible King get an applause like that?"
Caspian looked down at the ground and asked, "What was your fear?"
Susan felt the flashbacks flood her mind. The laughing, the kissing, and the pain entering her mind. She bit her bottom lip, "I would rather not talk about it right now."
He saw the emotion of fear play a part on her face. He grabbed her hand and whispered, "I'm sorry for bringing back memories."
Susan looked up into Caspian's eyes. Before she could say anything, a centaur came in and said, "Your majesty. I have an extremely important message from the council. They request a meeting with you. I'm sorry if I'm interrupting anything."
Caspian looked at Susan and back at the centaur. "No, that's quite alright. Thank you."
The centaur left, and Caspian looked at Susan as if for permission. Susan gave a small smile, "Go. You don't want to keep them waiting." Caspian left Susan alone in the dark halls with her fear playing over and over in her mind.
Caspian walked into the council room to see every council man sitting in his chair. Peter was also in there holding Princeton close to his chest. Caspian stood firm with his arms crossed as he said, "Would you like to talk to me?"
The head council man answered, "We've heard some good news about you and your wife King Caspian. We have heard you've finally impregnated her and are with child."
"That is correct. I don't understand why you would need me here for that."
The council man said, "We need proof. So Queen Susan needs to be present. Also, if your child does not make it. King Peter's child will be heir to the throne."
Caspian looked at Peter and Princeton. Peter looked angry at the unfairness of what the council was saying. Caspian looked at the council and said, "Send someone for my wife." On that note, a fawn went on the search for Susan.
After Caspian left Susan, she went for a walk through the castle gardens. She admired all the flowers she'd missed from leaving. It was a change of scenery from the ocean and smell of salt water.
She heard someone say behind her, "Well that's not something you see every day. I never thought ghosts were real."
Susan turned around to see Markell. She smiled brightly and hugged him tightly. When they pulled away he said, "I'm glad to see you alive and very pregnant."
"Same goes for you except for the pregnant part. At least I don't think you're pregnant. Would you like me to check?"
Markell chuckled. "So? Tell me how you can help me answer this question pondering my mind all day. I was on the pirate ship minding my own business looking for your ship and suddenly, I end up here at the docks."
"I may have wished you to come back home along with us. I didn't want you sailing out to sea for months missing your wife and never finding us."
Markell was touched. "What special task did you have to endure to get this wish?"
Susan looked away from him, and the fears and memories crept back into her mind. She saw Demeterius's face in her head. Markell touched her shoulder lightly, "Susan?..."
They were cut off by the fawn that was searching for Susan. He bowed at the two monarch's presence. He said, "Queen Susan, the council wishes to see you right away. King Caspian had me send for you."
Susan looked at Markell with the fear still on her face. "Duty calls."
He nodded understandingly. When Susan walked away, he wondered what pain she went through. He thought he knew. He only saw true fear like that when he was in the Archenland camp. Where he started to fall in love with her.
When Susan got to the council room, she entered with anger. She said, "This better not be a joke. What other proof do you need other than my baby bump?"
The council man rolled his eyes. "That might be weight you've gained from the trip. We haven't heard from any of you or seen any of you for five months."
Peter and Caspian both looked at one another in the same way. They thought the council man didn't know what he was getting into. Susan made a pouty face. "Do you actually think this is all fat?"
"My Queen, we've seen many other Queens bigger than that. We just need the professor to check you, to see if you truly are with child."
The professor felt Susan's stomach and whispered, "I'm sorry my Queen, that they don't trust you enough."
He backed away from Susan and said in an eloquent voice, "Queen Susan is with child." Then he walked out of the room to check up more on Louise.
One of the council men whispered in another's hear. Caspian said angrily, "When you are in the presence of your Kings and Queen you will not keep secrets from us."
The one council man that whispered asked, "How can we trust that the child is of your doing King Caspian?"
Susan felt hurt and said with a lump in her throat, "How could you think so small of me? Why would I let another man place a child inside of me other than King Caspian?"
The head council man held up his hand. He said, "Now, now, Queen Susan only one of us here thinks that of you. I don't agree with my fellow council man, so nothing will become of his horrid thoughts."
Susan asked in a hurtful tone, "May I leave now?"
The head council man nodded his head. "You may all leave now. Our meeting is over."
Peter and Caspian had to jog to catch up to Susan, who was speed-walking out of the room. Peter tapped on her shoulder with his free hand and asked, "Susan? Are you okay?"
She turned around with tears streaming down her face and she shook her head. "Do I look like the type of person who would do that sort of thing?"
Caspian wiped some her tears away and said, "No one thinks you would ever do something like that. There was only one person who thought that. But worry I'll have a very strong worded message for him later."
Peter walked closer to Susan, "Princeton will make you feel better." He held out the tiny bundle for Susan to take into her arms.
She took baby Princeton and smiled. Peter whispered to Caspian, "Babies make everything better. When you have yours use it as a weapon."
Caspian chuckled, "I'll keep that in mind."
Peter watched his younger sister hold his baby and become happier. He asked, "Actually, do the two of you think you can manage him while I'm gone? I'm going to go check up on Louise."
Susan didn't take her attention off of Princeton as she answered, "I think we can handle it."
Peter gave a small smile at his baby one last time before sauntering off. Susan said quietly, "This will be our life in four months."
Caspian glanced at Susan and mumbled, "Then why am I so nervous? I'm happy and excited but over all of that is nervousness."
Susan looked up from Princeton to see her husband's sad eyes. "Do you think you'll be a bad father? I swear Caspian if that's how you feel I might just hit you. You'll be a wonderful…"
"I just want to be there for the baby. I don't want to not be there like my father wasn't. I know he died, but I just wish he was there."
"Caspian, I think I know you better than anybody to tell you that you will be around for a long time. The scary thing is you might even be here longer than me. But I know one thing for sure, you will be here our baby."
Caspian gave her a smirk and Susan asked, "Do you want to hold him?"
Caspian nodded and Susan handed him Princeton. At first, Caspian didn't know what to do with something so tiny. Then Susan coached him on how to hold Princeton, and Caspian looked at the sleeping baby in his arms and smiled.
Lucy and Frederick were sitting on the beach with one another talking. Frederick sighed, "I think I'm going back to Archenland when Markell and Rose head back."
Lucy turned away from him. She knew if she looked at him long enough she would start to cry. Lucy said just above a whisper, "Please don't go. Not again. I'll miss you too much."
"I know I will too. But I have duties in Archenland and it's my home like Narnia is yours."
Lucy didn't want to seem selfish and keep him from doing what he wanted. She hugged him tightly and whispered in his ear, "I'm not letting go. If you go to Archenland, you'll have to take me with you."
"Lucy. Please stop. You're cuteness is making rethink everything."
Lucy giggled sadly. "That's the whole point."
"I think you know what I need to do though."
Lucy loosened her grasp around him and sighed deeply, "I know, it's just….I love you Frederick. Once I love someone I don't want to let them go."
Frederick looked into her eyes in grief. "But you won't be letting me go, let's just say I'm going on a long trip, and I'll see you every so often. And every time I come to see you, we'll make it one of our best days ever."
"How often will you visit?"
Frederick pondered the question a little bit, "Two to Three times a month I'll come and visit for a few days. And we'll write all the time, no every day. How about that?"
Lucy shook her head. "I wouldn't like it as much as you actually staying, but it sounds nice compared to nothing."
Frederick a long-passionate kiss. He felt Lucy's lips feel soft and sad. When they pulled away, Frederick suggested, "How about while I'm here, we forget I had said anything. Alright?"
"Okay. But when you actually leave I will cry. I hope you're ready for that."
Frederick looked at her and smirked, "With you Lucy, I'm ready for anything."
Peter walked into the room Louise was in to see her getting help from the professor to stand up. He ran over to help her up. The professor asked, "How are you feeling Queen Louise?"
"I'm rather sore." She leaned on Peter to help her.
The professor suggested, "You can stay here for bed rest for a few more days."
She shook her head. "I really just want to go to my own room and bed. Peter? Can you bring Princeton there?"
"After I take you." After that, he picked her up and started to carry her out of the room.
There was a silence through the hallways as Peter carried Louise. She broke the silence by saying, "You have no idea how much I missed you, Pete. I hate admitting to it but, I don't think I could have had Princeton without you."
Peter kept walking as he let Louise's words sink in. "I thought about you every day. I kept thinking I should've went with you. I missed you more than words can describe."
She dug her face into his chest. "Well, we're together now and nothing can separate us. We have something that bonds us more together now. Our little Princeton."
Peter smiled at her words. They got into their room, and Peter placed her on their bed. He kissed her forehead and whispered, "I'll go get Princeton. I love you." And at that Peter left the room.
Susan was in Caspian's study holding Princeton in her arms and watching her husband write something on a piece of paper. She raised an eyebrow as she asked, "What exactly are you writing?"
"Nothing. I was just going to write to Calormen to see if Lucy's wish actually worked." He was avoiding eye contact, because he was actually writing to Calormen to warn them about a revolt group, the free men. He didn't want Susan to know William and Kale got away.
Susan knew he wasn't being honest, but before she could say anything, Peter opened the door without knocking. "I need Princeton. Louise is awake."
Susan handed him Princeton, and Peter left without another word. Susan walked slowly over to Caspian. His muscles were tensed up, and he seemed upset in a way. She lightly touched his arm muscle and it relaxed. She said calmly, "Caspian, tell me everything. We promised no more secrets. I think I can handle whatever's on your mind."
He looked at her bright-blue eyes and sighed, "William, Kale, and Marianna are missing. We believe Marianna released them, there's no other explanation."
Caspian watched as Susan's face turned from calm to angry. She calmed herself back down and said, "And to think Marianna was starting to get on my good side. How could she just do something like that?"
Caspian grabbed Susan's hands and looked into her eyes. "It doesn't matter Susan. We're home now. We have an army and guards around the castle to protect us. And I love you."
Susan smiled gratefully and pulled Caspian into a deepening kiss.
