Chapter 87: This isn't right
Heath looked around as him and Kyle fronted up to the caravan park. Alf turned his head upon seeing the ruff looking Heath with Kyle as they walked into the house.
"Oi hang on just a minute. You ain't hanging around the likes of this hooligan are ya Kyle?" Alf questioned.
"Hey who are you calling a hooligan?" Heath replied.
"This boy is on the straight and narrow, and I ain't having some rough fella like you messing him up." Alf said to Heath.
"Alf it's okay, we're meant to be family." Kyle explained.
"I thought you told me ya had no other family."
"I didn't know. I discovered I supposedly have three other brothers when I attended Dad's funeral."
"Yeah so I'm this one's older brother so quiet old man." Heath spoke.
Alf glared at Heath. "Now you listen here young fella, you're in my house and I don't tolerate no disrespect."
"Heath is helping me move my stuff into their place." Kyle explained.
"You sure on this fella, you don't need to follow in these footsteps." Alf assured and Kyle nodded.
"I'm sure. Thanks for everything Alf, but I need to do this."
Alf nodded and left Kyle and Heath to gather Kyle's things, load them into Brax's Ute and move into the Braxton house.
A few days later Casey walked into the kitchen to see Heath and Kyle talking and having breakfast.
"Hi Casey." Kyle greeted but Casey just ignored him and walked into the kitchen to make himself some toast. Casey was annoyed that his brother's were getting alone with Kyle so well and he wasn't happy.
Casey noticed Kyle munching on his vegemite toast and saw his opportunity to make his voice heard. Casey grabbed the vegemite for his toast and noticed the jar was almost empty.
"Where did all the vegemite go?" Casey glared at Kyle.
"Sorry Casey, I had vegemite on my toast this morning." Kyle replied sheepishly.
"Well that's great! Now what am I going to have?" Casey argued.
"Arg, let it up Case. Have some jam or something." Heath replied.
"I hate jam Heath. He shouldn't have used all the vegemite." Casey continued to argue.
Kyle shifted in his seat and felt uncomfortable with the situation after all he was still adjusting.
"It's not his fault you should have gotten up earlier to have breakfast." Heath snapped.
"Right take his side! I know where your loyalties lie!" Casey yelled.
"Ah shut up Casey. What has gotten your knickers in a twist this morning?" Heath replied.
Casey scowled at Heath. "I'm not in any twist and if I was it would be because of him being in this house!" Casey shouted.
"Grow up Casey. We all have to make changes and get used to them. Why don't you go stick ya head in some book or something?" Heath brushed his attitude off.
Casey huffed and stormed over to the doorway to grab his surfboard.
"Oi! Where do you think you're going?" Heath called.
"I'm going for a surf Heath. What does it look like?" Casey replied smartly.
"Sorry mate, no can do."
"Wha...Why?" Casey shouted.
"Brax said you're not to spend ya time surfing until your school marks have improved." Heath explained.
"I'm sick of this!" Casey yelled. He just wanted to go for a surf and forget about his home situation for awhile.
"Not my rules mate." Heath shrugged.
Casey shook his head and grabbed his board. "Well I don't care! Brax can shove his rules!"
"You sure about that Case?" Heath asked as he noticed his older brother standing behind Casey.
"Course I'm sure. I'm going for a surf and there's nothing you or anyone can do about it." Casey replied annoyed.
Casey spun around and was faced with his older brother who had an unimpressed look on his face.
"Care to repeat all that? I didn't quite get the Brax can shove his rules part." Brax said in a stern tone.
"Brax..."
Brax stood close to Casey's face. "You got something you wanna complain to me about Casey?"
"All you ever do is lecture me about stupid study and I'm sick of it!" Casey yelled.
"Are you done?" Brax questioned as he raised his eyebrows.
"No Brax I'm not! To top it all off you invite some stranger to live with us and mind you I didn't even get breakfast because of him this morning! Now I can't even go for a surf!" Casey shouted in his brother's face.
Brax shook his head and pointed towards Kyle. "That stranger is your brother. Now you might not like it but that's not gonna change and as for not allowing you to surf until you improve in school, you know why I push you so hard for that. You have potential to have a good education and I'm sick of you just trying to throw it away!" Brax shouted.
Casey glared at Brax in the eye not wanting to back down. "Now, put the board back and get and study." Brax ordered.
Casey stared defiantly at his brother for a few moments but Brax was not letting up. Casey threw his board on the floor. "Fine. But don't expect me to get on with him!"
As Casey turned to storm into his room Brax grabbed his upper arm and dragged him into his room.
"Ignore him, he's just going through his teenage stage." Heath told Kyle.
"I figured that. Happened to me pretty bad and I hadn't even reached the teenage years for most of mine."
Brax stood and glared at his younger brother. "What is with you Casey?" Brax demanded.
"What is with you Brax? All you and Heath fuss about now is stupid Kyle. So what if he was somehow Dad's son, that doesn't mean you, can just treat him like he is one of us! Like he grew up with us! What about how he treated me? Sure you said it doesn't matter that it was 10 years ago, but it matters to me!" Casey yelled.
"Case you need to understand, Kyle has had a different life to us and we need to make him feel welcome, but that doesn't mean Heath and I are replacing you." Brax explained in a calmer tone.
Casey calmed and stared at Brax. "Sorry."
Brax nodded, "Just get and hit the books and maybe and I mean maybe we can go for a surf together later, yeah?"
Casey nodded. "Yeah," and watched his brother leave.
