Shadows of Conquest
Summary: Hidden in the texts of the Millennium Tome is a Ritual which looks like it could end Voldemort once and for all.
Epilogue
Seto smiled as Mokuba ran ahead of him, cheerful as always. He smiled at the young man his brother had become, he hadn't allowed their rough past to change him or turn him bitter. If anything, it had made Mokuba more cheerful and a stronger person.
A few mourners gave Mokuba disapproving looks as he raced through the cemetery. Generally, the Kaiba brother would visit their father in the late evening to avoid being seen, but they'd run out of time to visit him this trip and were returning to Japan in a few hours.
He glanced in the direction he knew Harry's parents were buried and found that once again Harry was, in fact, visiting his parents and his godfather. His godfather wasn't actually buried in the cemetery, as there had been no body to bury.
He glanced towards his brother who was excitedly talking to his father. He'd give Mokuba a few moments, it wasn't often Mokuba got to talk to their father alone.
He walked towards Harry and Hermione.
"We have a habit of running into each other here," Kaiba spoke up, startling the pair.
Harry had his wand in hand, a reflex from when the Wizards war was still going on.
"Seto, you really need to stop sneaking up on people." Harry held his hand over his heart.
"We really need to meet and have coffee sometime instead," Hermione commented.
"Maybe my next trip, I'm going home in a few short hours," Kaiba replied. "How long?" He asked, glancing at Hermione's swollen stomach.
"Any day now," she replied, holding her hand to her stomach. "I just want him out, we've gone on this walk to try to induce labour."
"We've brought a house near here, walking distance down the road," Harry replied.
"He won't let me go anywhere by myself." Hermione huffed. "I'm just pregnant, it's not like I'm sick or anything."
"It's not a good idea with the baby so close. They are unpredictable with arrival time, that is after all why we did the ritual when we did since you can't predict when a baby will be born." Kaiba pointed out.
"You're right about that." Harry nodded. "Hyacinth was born six weeks early."
"Feels like only yesterday that we performed the ritual when she was convinced." Hermione smiled. "Can you believe that she is four. I can't believe how right my parents were when they told me that time would fly."
"How have things been in Japan?" Harry asked. "How's Amane and everyone else?"
Harry always asked about Amane since she'd also had a Horcrux removed in the ritual. He wanted to make sure there were no lasting effects.
"She's doing a lot better at the moment. She recently finished therapy and dealing with her own emotions better than this time last year. She only has one more term of school until she is due to graduate." Kaiba informed the pair.
It hadn't been an for Amane after Voldemorts soul had been separated from her own. It was depressing watching her go from the cheerful child to depressed teenager almost overnight. Amane had a lot of learning to catch up on as well as learning to deal with her own emotions. At times, everyone around her felt she had been better off before especially when she was having a bad day. It wasn't an instant recovery. Like Ryou, she held resentment for her father, a resentment that hindered her recovery. Nevertheless, over time as she continued improving it was obvious they had made the right choice.
"She has a close friendship with Ishizu, Mai and Serenity. They've all been a big help with anything Ryou hasn't been able to help with or explain. Next year she plans to go to university so she can become a social worker or a nurse and help disabled children." Seto continued. "Ryou and Yugi are both at University, both studying ancient history."
Amane and Ryou both still lived in the mansion. It was big enough that he hardly saw them, besides the staff adored Amane and would've been devastated if she ever moved out. Ryou the mansion staff whenever he was home, which wasn't often since he was still working on rejudging the victims of the Thief King. There had been so many, that it took time to find the living victims and then gaining access to said victim.
"I heard from Luna that you've been studying a lot yourself," Harry mentioned. Seto had kept in regular contact with Luna and Draco. They'd formed a connection during his kidnapping and were the only ones from his wizardry friends that he kept in contact with on a regular basis.
"I studied business to get my board of directors to stop bugging me," he told them. "I also needed it for potential clients to take me seriously, despite the fact I had been working in business for many years. I've also studied a number of other courses, mostly involving science and technology. I'm a researcher at heart. The knowledge I have gained has been useful in expanding my business." He told Hermione in great detail about his study, and she told him in detail about her own. She wasn't working while she'd been pregnant, but had taken up more 'muggle' courses during that time.
Seto had been harassed about his study, they had wanted him to concentrate on the business. It was only when what he was studying started to pay off for the company that they left him alone to his own devices. If it wasn't affecting Kaiba Corp in a negative way, they didn't care.
"How is everyone on your end?" Seto asked.
"Ron's playing professional Quidditch now, he's captain of his team. He was always good at strategy and been putting it to good use. Ginny is working as an Auror, she always liked being in the action, she's finding the paperwork side of thing boring. Not much action when there isn't a war going on. You already know about Percy, he's still working at your school and now married to one of the other teachers." Harry informed him about the whole Weasley family.
Seto nodded. Percy became a fixture of the Duellist academy. He helped keep things in check and reported any strange happenings or anything else direct to Kaiba Corp. He was a good teacher and did well at keeping everyone including teachers in line. As for the school itself, the mixed dorms and houses still had issues with rivalries but they were only minor issues. Parents' weekends as much as the students complained about them worked out well.
"Remus and Tonks are doing well, the recently announced that they are expecting their third child." Harry smiled.
Remus only taught as the Duellist Academy another year before he took up a full-time position as Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts. It was when Tonk was expecting her second child that he'd left. He and his wanted to be closer to family while raising their two boys.
"Neville's now a teacher at Hogwarts, he recently took over the Herbology post. His parents are also doing a lot better. His mother more so than his father." Hermione continued.
Seto was already aware what Neville was doing. Ryou kept regular contact with Neville while Yugi kept in regular contact with Ronald and Ginny Weasley. Neville becoming a teacher wasn't surprising he enjoyed helping the younger students at The Duel Academy so much he'd studied teaching when he returned to England.
Harry continued telling him about the work he was doing in the Chamber of Secrets. The Chamber of Secrets was now a research department that was an extension of the Department of Mysteries. Neville also worked in the chamber around teaching students, investigating the plants. Severus, Remus, Draco, Luna, Bill, Fleur and Charlie also worked in the chamber on a regular basis. Not that anyone else knew since it was a secret department. Seto only knew because he'd been in the chamber and performed the ritual for the Dark Lord to be reborn. Luna had been most excited when she learnt that several of her creatures were real. Draco was a great asset with his Slytherin background and knowledge and access to resources most didn't have to uncover even more of the secrets of the chamber.
Hyacinth was the reborn Dark Lord, born female. Harry and Hermione both wanted to keep his family tradition of naming woman after flowers. She had the same blue eyes and the same dark hair as Tom Riddle before he'd became addicted to the Dark Arts. So far the young girl showed no signs of becoming a dark lord. In fact, she looked like every other little girl, a happy, cheerful child that was looking forward to becoming a big sister. Of course, all those who knew kept an eye on her to make sure she didn't go down the same track as her past incarnation.
"I should be getting Hermione home," Harry told him, seeing that his wife looked tired on her feet. "She's probably driven grandma Tunney and nana Molly up the wall." Harry laughed.
"It's been nice catching up with you," Seto told the pair when he noticed his brother looking for him.
Hermione and Harry both nodded. He watched as the happy couple left, before joining his brother.
Seto asked the ancient spirit who was still attached to him. "Is it odd that I am thankful for being kidnapped?"
"Not at all." Set smiled. "You've got good friends in Luna, Draco, Hermione, Harry and the other that you would've never met if it wasn't for your kidnapping. You learnt who your true friends were, made some new friends along the way. Hyacinth would've never been born. Amane would probably still be in the magical hospital or even if she was out, still her childlike self." Set then changed his smile to a more suggestive one. "You've even opened enough to allow yourself to be loved. Maybe one day you will find that special someone to spend the rest of your life with."
He already found the people he wanted to share his life with, not in a romantic sense. He had his brother and his friends, and if love didn't work out for him, it didn't matter. He would never be alone again. Not that he'd ever let Yugi's other friends know, they'd call him a hypocrite.
