Chapter 88: Settling in
A few weeks passed before Casey decided to talk to Kyle and accept he was now part of the family. It was just after dinner and Casey approached Kyle who was sitting on the lounge.
"Um, hey Kyle." Casey greeted cautiously.
"Hey Casey, what's up?"
Casey sat down next to Kyle on the lounge. "I guess I want to apologize for the way I've been treating you lately."
Kyle shrugged. "No worries."
"It's just hard for me to get my head around having another brother in the house, you know, with always growing up with just Heath and Brax."
"Yeah I can understand that." Kyle replied.
There was silence for a few moments before Casey spoke. "Kyle?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure. What?" Kyle questioned.
"The entire time you bullied me when I was in kinder garden you never really knew who I was?" Casey asked.
Kyle shook his head. "Never."
"And you really helped me escape from that group home?"
"Yeah, you were pretty hurt I had to do something if I couldn't get out." Kyle explained.
Casey looked down. "Thanks." He whispered and Kyle nodded.
"You know if I had known who you were I'd have never bullied you or done anything to hurt you, because I'd never want to hurt my little brother." Kyle smiled and gave Casey a shove. Casey returned the smile.
"Why must I always be the youngest?" He complained, before he felt a rough ruffle of his hair by Heath.
"Tough luck Case. Now you have three of us to boss you around." Heath laughed.
"None of you are the boss of me." Casey retorted.
Brax walked out to join the other three on the lounge. "Wanna bet?" He challenged Casey.
The three boys laughed at Casey's smart remark at being caught out. "Get to bed Case." Brax told him before he sat down.
Casey whined, "Brax!"
"You got school tomorrow." Brax told him.
"Aw come on Brax, you all get to sit up late drinking." Casey moaned.
"We don't have school and besides you're a kid." Brax added.
"I'm not a kid Brax, I'm fifteen."
"Ya still young enough to do as I say. Now go." Brax ordered casually.
Casey sighed and slammed his hands down on the lounge. "Fine."
Casey got up and headed towards his bedroom. "Night little bro." Heath and Kyle yelled, only to hear an unfair groan from Casey.
"So what's watching tonight?" Kyle asked.
Brax and Heath shared a glance before both they grabbed for the remote. Kyle shook his head.
"So this is what I missed?" He asked rhetorically.
Brax and Heath stop grabbing for the remote and laughed. "Yep, you're one of us now mate, you better get used to it." Brax said before he rested back in his seat with the remote.
"Welcome to the Braxton life." Heath added and took a sip of beer, also leaning back to watch the TV.
