A.N: Hi peeps! Alrighty. New chapter. I'm sure many people were surprised about that little twist I put there, huh? Hee hee. More where that came from.

Thanks to Jade for reviewing my last chapter. Constructive criticism always appreciated.

I have standardized testing coming up in school for the next few days. *cue exasperated groan* On the bright side, no homework, so more time to write! ~030~

Silence is Golden will be updated next; as soon as I find time to watch Snakebit again on YouTube I'll start it.

Lloyd's POV:

I raised an eyebrow at the small snake in front of me. "And why would you do that?"

Eurus calmly took a breath. "My fellow warriorsss fully ssupport the awakening of Venom. I do not. When Venom fully awakensss, legends say he is a mercilesss tyrant, and plans to do nothing for my kind'ss benefit. As sssoon as we do our job, he castss us assside."

Zoe still scanned him like a moldy sandwich, clearly not pleased. "What does this have to do with us?"

"I have heard of you ninjas before from my commander Rhadamanthus." He glanced at Zoe curiously. "However I did not know that there was a ninja that was a girl."

Her face lit up briefly, then turning a dark shade of red. "No, no I'm just one of the ninja's sisters. I help out around here, but that's about it."

The hypnobrai nodded in understanding. "Rhadamanthus has told us that you are out to ruin our plansss, but the fact that ssomeone was trying to ssstop us relieved me. He alsso told my comrades that we are to kill the green one, asss ssoon as he isss in our clutches." At this, Eurus looked at me with pity.

Mixed emotions took over. So, this guy is clearly on our side, which is good. The downside is that every serpentine down here knows that I am to be killed. Not exactly a good feeling. My stomach clenched tighter than my fist as I lowered my gaze.

Zoe gestured me over to her. In a hushed tone, she whispered, "So you think we can trust this guy?"

Remembering that he took pity on me, and how he didn't raise his weapon, I nodded. "Yeah. Yeah I think we can."

She smiled faintly, her silver dagger glowing in the dim lighting. I stood up and turned around to face the scout. "Alright. You're in."

Eurus smiled genuinely. "Thank you green ninja, and friend. You will not regret this decision."

I better not I thought.

Zoe cleared her throat. "Right, with that said, we need to get back to the others and get to the Bounty. Last I saw Cole was down near the back exit. Snakes and shadows are everywhere, so keep your guard up."

She looks hot while giving orders.

Zoe led the way through the hallways, with me behind her and Eurus bringing up the rear. Faintly, the sound of battle echoed through our path, and the stench didn't improve as we traveled down the never-ending chamber. My ribs still throbbed, but not nearly as bad as before.

My crush skidded to a sudden halt, and pointed forward. Up ahead was a large bloodbath, with dead and wounded snakes scattered across the battlefield. Rhadamanthus, his captain, and about a hundred serpentine were down below. There were more snakes in the chamber, no doubt, but either they weren't fit for battle or just chickening out.

"I'm not going to lose to a bunch of bratssss like you!" the fangpyre snarled. "Show no weakness Salomoneus, and don't stop until these ninja are begging for mercy!"

I fought down a snarl of my own. Zoe looked at me, her eyes smoldering. Eurus looked frightened, and slightly awkward.

"I'm going in" I said in a low voice, but before I could, Zoe's hand was on my shoulder, pulling me back. "I'm coming too Twinkle Toes." I was about to protest, but she gave me a look that told me she wasn't changing her mind any time soon. I wasn't going to argue, because I like my head were it is now.

A venomari lunged at my throat, but I side-stepped and drew my knife. He looked surprised, but none the less pulled out his sai and sliced at my head, with me ducking underneath it and driving my knife into his forearm. He screamed and fell to his knees, and I ran away before he could get me again.

While subduing a mass of shadows, I snuck a glance at Zoe. She was using her dagger in close range combat, and every so often kicked and punched the oncoming snake. After sending a constrictai flying, she regarded me, and her expression twisted into one of pure terror. "Lloyd look out!"

Cole looked up after she shouted this. "Zoe?! What are you doing here?! You should be at the Bounty!" She shrugged. "You needed some help." Her brother growled. "This isn't over!"

I turned around, and there stood Rhadamanthus, with a pleased grin on his face. "This will be an enjoyable capture, yes?" My knife was about to go into his ugly head, but he grabbed it and flung it aside. As fire began to incase my arm, a hypnobrai grabbed it tightly.

The fangpyre smiled shrewdly as he gazed at his reflection in his sword. "My masssster will reward me greatly for thiss. I have been waiting ssso long for thissss moment. Ssavor it child. For your time is dwindling."

Why is it that all the bad guys are after me? Why can't I just go one day without almost getting killed?

A defiant wail screamed in my eardrums, and the next thing I knew I was free, as Eurus pinned the fangpyre to the ground.

"How dare you interrupt my capture?! And go to the extreme length as to ssssubdue me?!" Eurus smiled. "I'm done sssserving you. Don't come crying to me when thiss plan goessss downhill." Rhadamanthus opened his mouth to argue, but Eurus picked up his former superior and threw him against the stone wall, knocking him unconscious.

Salomoneus winced and scanned the scene. All of the snakes were either dead or wounded, and the shadows rushed back to Venom before their numbers dwindled more. The Serpentine captain shouted, "RETREAT!" And the snakes that were left limped back to the generals, muttering swears in their native tongue.

Zoe rushed over and helped me to my feet, handing me my knife. I looked at her, and her hazel eyes shone with pride. A blush rose to my cheeks.

"Is everyone ok?" Cole asked. Kai studied each and every one of us, as Eurus hung back awkwardly. "Nothing serious." Cole sighed in relief. "Good." He turned to me. "Lloyd, who's he?" he asked while gesturing towards Eurus.

I bit my lip, unsure how to explain. "Well, he's a good guy, he wants to help us." Kai growled and looked at him. "I don't believe that for a second." Jay nodded. "I'm with Kai. A good snake? That will happen on the day Cole's chili turns edible!"

Said ninja glared at the ninja of lightning before returning his gaze at Eurus. "So? Can we trust you or not?" Eurus nodded while watching Kai with a fearful mien.

"A-allow me to introduce myself. M-m-my name is Eurus, and I work closely with Venom. Well, at leassst I did before, well, that happened. Anyway, I do not approve of my kind'ss plan, and I wish to help bring Venom down. Becaussse if Venom is unleashed, he will take control of everything and every creature in Ninjago, including the ssserpentine. Clearly, Rhadamanthus wasn't aware of this lassst fact." He gestured toward said snake as he lay on the floor.

Cole pondered this. "Well, I guess you're telling the truth. And he saved Lloyd and protected my sister coming down here. I think it wouldn't hurt."

Kai looked ready to explode. "What?! But he's a snake! He could be a spy, or he's gonna blow up the Bounty, or kidnap Lloyd, or-"

"Kai," Zane interrupted in his monotonous voice, "I sense that Eurus means what he says. Give him a chance." With a huff, Kai nodded, but gave the newcomer an I'm watching you look.

I followed Jay outside, back into the desert. But as I turned to look back into the chamber, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me.
