INT. SECURED HOSPITAL ROOM – ZIRA CLINIC
Inside a sterile white hospital room, the Doctor lays helpless, restrained by leather straps to a hospital bed. Nurse Bormi, a blonde-haired humanoid dog with the face of a cairn terrier, prepares a hypodermic injector she doesn't know is filled with poison. The culprit, Tonades Mercenary Police Officer Leegrall, stares inside from the small window in the door and waits anxiously for her to administer the poison.
BORMI
This shouldn't hurt at all.
She presses it to the Doctor's exposed arm. He closes his eyes.
A siren wails!
Startled, Bormi flinches. Both she and the Doctor look up and in the direction of a speaker in the ceiling.
LOUDSPEAKER (V.O.)
Code Zore, level thirteen, operating room eleven-eleven. Code Zore. All available staff respond. Code Zore.
Bormi drops the unused injector onto the rolling cart situated next to the bed, then breaks for the door.
INT. HALLWAY – LEVEL THIRTEEN – ZIRA CLINIC
Leegrall turns away from his spot by the door and watches as nurses and doctors abandon their posts and all run to an some location far on the other side of the floor.
LOUDSPEAKER (V.O.)
Code Zore, level thirteen, operating room eleven-eleven. Code Zore. All available staff respond. Code Zore.
Nurse Bormi exits the Doctor's room. Before she can even take another step, Leegrall stops her.
LEEGRALL
What's going on?
BORMI
Emergency code. I have to respond.
LEEGRALL
What about the Doctor's medicine?
BORMI
I'll have to administer it when I get back!
Bormi runs around Leegrall and disappears down the hall.
The door to the Doctor's room swings almost shut before Leegrall sticks his foot out to stop it. He takes a quick look around the hall to make sure no one sees him, then sneaks inside.
INT. SECURED HOSPITAL ROOM – ZIRA CLINIC
Leegrall quietly closes the door to the room, then turns. The Doctor sees him and notices when the officer's eyes shift to the injector on the nurse's cart. A realization strikes as the Doctor suddenly understands his predicament.
DOCTOR
You don't have to do this.
Leegrall walks over to the cart, grabs the injector, and presses it to the Doctor's arm.
LEEGRALL
Yes, I do.
The Doctor thrashes against his restraints, but it's too late.
TSST! The sound of an injector being administered.
Leegrall's eyes roll back in his head and he drops to the ground with a loud thud. Standing behind the man, with a used injector in her hand, is Dr. Heeya, the golden retriever. The Doctor smiles when he realizes she's just saved his life.
DOCTOR
Nothing like waiting until the last minute. You didn't kill him, did you?
Heeya drops the injector and unhooks the Doctor's restraints.
HEEYA
Just a sedative... and maybe I laced it with a PDE5 inhibitor.
DOCTOR
That should make for an awkward debriefing.
The Doctor hops down from the bed.
HEEYA
It won't take them long to figure out the code was a fake. We don't have a lot of time.
They run.
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM – TONADES PRECINCT
Sergeant Kale tightens his grip around Rose's throat. His brick-colored skin turns almost purple with rage as he allows his prejudice for humans to override his better judgment. Nothing will stop him from savoring the moment as her body goes limp and the spark of life fades from her eyes.
Almost nothing.
Blasts ring out, heavy weapons fire from beyond the door. Kale turns just as the door is blown off its hinges by an explosive. He throws Rose out of the way and takes on a defensive stance, ready for a fight.
THREE MASKED SOLDIERS enter through the charred doorway. They all wear navy hide plates bejeweled by white diamonds in unique constellation patterns over darker blue camo. Their masks are both functional, as gas masks, and ceremonial, made to look like different lifeforms; a GOLDEN MONKEY, SILVER HUMANOID, and BRONZE CYBERMAN. They carry fierce energy rifles.
KALE
Come on!
Furious and invigorated, the mighty warrior Kale begs them to attack, despite the overwhelming odds. The three soldiers look at each other a moment, considering their options, but ultimately settle on the practical route of shooting him about a hundred and fifty times. Kale goes down, possibly forever.
Golden Monkey searches the room for Rose, who is curled up in a ball in the corner. She runs over and grabs her.
ROSE
No. No! Let go of me!
GOLDEN MONKEY
Are you Rose?
Rose stops fighting back.
ROSE
How do you know my name?
GOLDEN MONKEY
Not important.
Golden Monkey removes a scanner from her pocket and uses it to take a sample of blood from the back of Rose's hand. Rose flinches.
ROSE
Ow.
Golden Monkey reads the scanner. It lights up. She shows it to her fellow soldiers in arms.
GOLDEN MONKEY
It's confirmed. She's a human.
ROSE
You could've asked.
Golden Monkey helps Rose up and hands her a sidearm.
GOLDEN MONKEY
Come on. We have to get you someplace safe. Do you know how to use that?
Rose wraps her hand around the gun.
ROSE
Point. Shoot. Right?
GOLDEN MONKEY
Don't worry, it's on stun. You won't kill anything. Let's move out, people!
Rose takes one last look at Kale before following them out.
INT. HALLWAY – LEVEL THIRTEEN – ZIRA CLINIC
The elevator doors slide open to reveal the Doctor from floor 42, the one who shot Valor, henceforth known as DOCTOR TWO. He holds the Turoksa Annihilator in one hand and a tablet in the other.
He takes one step out of the elevator and is immediately spotted by a security bulldog. Without hesitation, without even looking at the man, Doctor Two shoots him in the chest. The blast sends the poor security guard flying into a wall.
Doctor Two marches the largely deserted hallway, reading the numbers off each hospital room door as he goes. With the precision of an expert marksman, Doctor Two downs every bulldog foolish enough to step in his path. One particularly daring guard dog hides behind a nurses' station until Doctor Two draws near. The dog jumps out and pounces, but Doctor Two grabs him by the bottom lip and yanks down. He drives the guard face first into the marble floor and shoots him for good measure.
Doctor Two reaches the Doctor's secured room and compares the room number with the information he has on his tablet. Satisfied with the match, he steps back from the door and shoots out the lock.
INT. SECURED HOSPITAL ROOM – ZIRA CLINIC
Doctor Two marches inside with his weapon raised, but finds the Doctor's bed empty. He kicks the nurse's cart out of frustration, and it nudges Leegrall on the floor. He stirs with a moan. Doctor Two hears this and bends down to interrogate him.
DOCTOR TWO
You look like you've had a rough go. Not a great day for the Tonades, eh?
Leegrall blinks several times, still groggy from the sedative. Doctor Two slaps him across the face.
DOCTOR TWO
Hey, red, I need you to rally. Where'd he go? Where's the other gent with this handsome face and cheeky grin?
Unbeknownst to Doctor Two, Leegrall still has the hypodermic injector with the poison. Out of Doctor Two's view, the half-conscious Leegrall presses the injector to Doctor Two's arm and activates it.
Doctor Two recoils and grabs his arm like it was on fire.
DOCTOR TWO
What the- What was in that injector?
Doctor Two threatens Legrall with the Annihilator, but Leegrall just smiles and passes out.
Beads of sweat pour from Doctor Two's skin. His eyes turn bloodshot and he screams in agony. Desperate, he makes a move for the door, but his legs give out and he begins to convulse. A horrific seizure takes hold of his body.
Nurse Bormi and two guards enter the room and see Doctor Two convulsing on the ground. She leaps into action.
BORMI
Get help! Code Yez! Code Yez! Help me hold him down!
The code siren wails for a second time. Nurse Bormi and one of the guards struggle to steady him against the ferocious convulsions.
BORMI
Doctor, can you hear me?! Can you hear me?!
Doctor Two writhes in agony as Bormi struggles to help him.
