After Regina left for work, Emma showered and dressed herself for the day. She ran to the flower shop and bought a bouquet of calla lilies to put on the dining room table. While she was out, she also bought groceries to make dinner that night. She wrote a quick note for Regina and left it on her vanity, where she knew her wife would sit to unwind when she got home after they had their lunch. She wanted to pick out something fairly nice to wear, so she went through Regina's side of the closet to look for something of her wife's that she hadn't ever seen the other woman wear. There were a few things, most of them didn't go well with her coloring, but there was a black knee length dress, that her own slightly longer legs, would come just a couple of inches above her knee. Once she donned the dress, she pulled on a pair of opaque black tights and her knee high black boots. She pulled on a cream-colored trench coat to add a little lightness to her outfit and she headed out for lunch.
The four chatted happily at lunch; Granny even joined them when she had a minute. Regina was pleased at how the group—their group—had become so strangely close for four entirely different personalities. She smiled to herself and noticed Emma looking at her strangely, almost as though she desired an explanation for the smile.
"I'm happy," she stated. She was next to David, Ruby was across from him, and Emma was across from Regina. Some might have found the seating arrangement odd, but Regina preferred to sit across from Emma so she could look at her with ease.
"Me too," Emma seconded, smiling in response to her wife.
"Well, it's about damn time the two of you got your heads out of your asses," Ruby teased, pulling fifty dollars out of her pocket and tossing it onto the table at David.
"Thank you very much," David quipped.
"What the hell is that for?" Regina asked.
"We had a bet going." The older brunette turned slightly to look at him.
"And just what was this bet?"
"I said you would forgive Emma soon."
"And Ruby, what did you say?"
"I said you'd make her work her ass off long and hard for it." The waitress shrugged. "I would have."
"Gee thanks, Rubes," Emma sniffed.
"What? Regina's a babe. And now that she's all teddy bear sweet and cuddly she could have, like, anybody." Emma glared at her wolf friend. "What? It's true! I'd do her. I bet David would, too."
David and Regina had both just taken drinks, the latter choked on hers and the former spit his out in a spray of clear liquid. Ruby looked at them with a confused expression.
"Oh…right…I forgot for a minute." Ruby said, blushing as the two composed themselves.
"And the fight between Snow and me is because she was trying to cause issues with them and their family, and she wanted me to stop being Regina's friend," David added.
"But you wouldn't."
"I tried, sure. But I'm too selfish to give up my closest friend."
"I'd say closest, alright."
"Ruby Lucas, you curb your tongue!" Regina scolded, causing giggles to erupt from Emma, and then everybody started laughing along.
When the laughter at the table died down, Regina pushed on the side of David's head, playfully shoving it and he poked her in the side, causing her to squeal in a very undignified manner.
"David, I swear to god if you tickle me again, Emma will help me pin you, and then you'll have a fat pregnant woman sitting on you!"
"What? I bet you don't weigh over 140, and that's halfway through your pregnancy!" he teased. "Your threats don't scare me."
"I'll sit on you, too," Emma joked, laughing at the group's silliness. She had missed this playful side of Regina. Her laughter died in her throat when she looked up and saw her mother enter the diner. "Mom?" she whispered, causing David to turn around.
"Snow? Uh…what are you doing here?" he asked.
"I came to get lunch. Now I'm not so hungry," she said, turning to leave.
"I should…" David began.
"Of course." Regina stood up to let David out of the booth.
"Yeah, I'll come too," Emma said, standing up. When the two blondes were gone, Ruby leaned over the table.
"So?"
"So, what?"
"Is David any good?"
"Wouldn't Snow have told you, dear?" Regina huffed, rolling her eyes.
"I could barely ever get her to talk about it. And besides, he was her one and only before we were cursed, I assume she would think it was good either way."
"I don't want to talk about this."
"Pretty please? Please, please, please? I've always wondered. He walks the way good one's do, if you know what I mean."
"Why are you asking me this now and not before, when we first discussed it?" Regina asked, earning a shrug from Ruby in return, followed by a wide stared at the other woman for a moment before grinning. "He isn't the worst I've ever had," she offered, shaking her head.
"Aww that's not enough!"
"Let's just say, if I had known all along, he wouldn't have spent the curse in a coma, and I would have had no use for Graham."
Ruby squealed. "Wow. Really? Damn, Snow always gets so fucking lucky!"
"Indeed she does. But, I also want to make it clear that Emma is the best I've ever had."
Ruby rolled her eyes. "You guys are disgusting."
"You're just jealous. Don't worry, you'll have it again someday. I never believed it would happen again for me until Emma."
"Is that why you forgave her?"
"I forgave her because she and Henry are everything to me. I can't live my life and be happy without them. Even if I still had Henry, I would never be able to be fully happy again. I never believed that someone could "complete me" until I began dating her. She made a bad decision and it hurt, a lot, but she won't do it again, I know she won't, and if she did I don't think I could forgive her again, but I believe that she won't."
"Is that why you slept with her again?"
"I knew you'd bring that up, that's why I brought David and Emma as buffers."
"Sorry. I'm just curious because I care about you."
"I know and I appreciate that. Yes, Emma and I were together last night and it was good. At first she was hesitant, but then it was almost as though…as though nothing had changed."
"Well, you guys may be sappy and disgusting but I am really happy for you two."
"Snow! Wait!" David called. Emma jogged up behind him as Snow turned around to look at them.
"What? What could you possibly have to say for yourself, David?"
"Snow, Regina and I are friends, Ruby and Regina are friends, Emma's married to her, we can't just cut her out of our lives. That is…unless you want to lose Emma."
"You just don't want you lose your precious friend!" Snow spat.
"No, I don't want to lose my friend, and that has a bit to do with it, but also because anything you think is there, well it isn't. Regina and I are good friends, but I don't love her the way I love you. I've never loved anyone the way I love you. But Snow…you need to decide what you want before you tear this family apart."
"Snow…I love you, but Regina's my wife and I chose her. I didn't choose my parents, so if you ask me again, a thousand times, every single time I will choose her," Emma explained. "You know, you're being really selfish. I needed you these past several weeks. Regina and I were on the outs and I needed you. But you were so caught up in your hate and your own pain that you couldn't be here for the daughter that you said you regretted not being able to raise."
"And Regina caused you that pain!" Snow shouted.
"No!" Emma yelled louder. "I did! I almost slept with Neal out of stupid drunkenness! Ruby had to stop me! And it was my own fault, and I could have used my mom to help me figure out how to make things better. I was lucky I had dad, but I needed you. And you are being so selfish and I don't know how I can ever forgive you, but my wife is pregnant. We're having a baby and I want her to have grandparents. David will be great, he's excited to be a part of her life, but you…I'm not going to coddle you like dad or Ruby. You need to get your shit together. Are we clear?"
"Emma…I'm sorry."
"I know you are, as you should be, but you need to redeem yourself. You guys put Regina through hell to redeem herself, and now you're going to get the same treatment. You tell me that the woman you saw in that diner today with Ruby, dad and me is the same woman you have any reason to hate. So what if she and dad are good friends? Why should that matter? It's not like they're sleeping with each other behind our backs, they're just two people who desperately wanted a friend who could understand them, and that's what they are to each other, so you need to get over it." Snow nodded and apologized again. She asked what Emma wanted her to do to redeem herself. "Prove it. Prove that you're sorry. Just…do something about it."
"Ok. I will. I promise. Emma, I'm really sorry." Emma nodded and hugged David, telling him she would see him for dinner later that evening. She then went inside to see if Regina was ready to go home, only to find out from Ruby that Regina snuck out the back door to head home already. Emma was a little happy to hear that because it meant that her wife would see her surprises and not have to worry about responding in some special way for Emma.
When Emma arrived home, she checked the kitchen and living room for her wife and didn't find her, so she headed up to their bedroom. Her wife wasn't at her vanity, but the note was gone so she knew she had seen it. She checked the bathroom, and still didn't find her wife. Shrugging to herself, she turned on the shower and started undressing. She figured Regina was probably outside tending to the garden; maybe she would join her when she was finished. After she finished undressing, she stood in front of her mirror and pulled a brush through her hair to get the tangles out before washing it. She jumped when she looked in the reflective glass and saw Regina leaning against the doorframe.
"God, Regina!" she gasped. "You can't do that, you just scared the shit out of me."
"I apologize, dear." Regina walked up behind Emma, close enough that her stomach bulge was touching the blonde's bare back. "You know, you looked really sexy in my dress today," Regina whispered in a husky tone. "It was all I could do not to rip it off you then and there, and now you've gone and undressed yourself and I won't get the chance now."
Emma's throat was tightening with her arousal. Regina was in full-on sexual predator mode and she had missed watching her wife act this way. "Um…I can put it back on?" Her voice was thick and low.
"Now, now, that would just be wasting time, darling." Regina wrapped her arms around her wife and she took Emma's breasts into her hands, kneaded them roughly, moving them over to the sides so she could pinch each nipple between her index fingers and middle fingers. Emma moaned and instantly felt the wetness building between her legs. Even when they had sex the night before it was all about reconnecting—this…this was about pure, unadulterated want and desire…need even.
"Fuck, Regina."
"Oh, I intend to, dear. Now, be a good girl and get in the shower." Emma did as she was told while Regina removed her clothes and followed her into the shower shortly after. Once the water hit her body, Regina shoved Emma hard against the tiled wall. She palmed Emma's breasts before leaning down slightly to take one pert nipple between her teeth, biting it almost too roughly. She clawed her hands down the pale skin of her wife's flat stomach until the heel of her hands smoothed against Emma's slightly protruding hipbones. She then turned one hand so her fingertips were pointing to the floor and she moved her hand slowly down to press against her clit. She moved her fingers slowly in circles and Emma began bucking against the tanned hand.
Regina pressed her free hand against Emma's hip, pinning her against the wall. Emma groaned at the force used against her, and then groaned again when two of Regina's fingers slid their way inside her and the heel of her hand pressed hard against her clit, moving at a quick pace until Regina could feel Emma tightening around her.
"Come for me, Emma," Regina whispered, biting at the pulse point on Emma's neck. "Come for me, now." As directed, Emma began shaking and bucking between Regina and the wall of the shower. When she was finished riding out the orgasm, she relaxed against the wall and Regina pulled her fingers out, looking Emma in the eyes and sucking them clean. "Now, darling, what does that make you want to do to me?"
Emma growled and pushed Regina against another wall of the shower, kissing her roughly while using her hands to pin the brunette's arms to the cold tile. She moved her mouth along the strong jaw to the tanned neck and bit lightly. She nipped at the tops of Regina's breasts, where the swell began and pinched her nipples between her fingers and thumbs. She moved her hands along the still narrow waist, letting her thumbs graze the side of her stomach's swell. She lowered herself to her knees and pushed her fingers into her wife's warm core, reveling in the gasp that plump lips released. Emma gave a cocky smirk to Regina before covering her clit with her mouth, flicking her tongue hard and quick against it. She had wanted to take things slowly, but the pace and mood Regina had set demanded fast and rough. She complied, pumping her fingers hard and quickly, matching the pace with her tongue until she felt Regina quiver against her and heard rough and shaky moans echoing against the tile walls.
"Emma, don't stop, please don't stop," Regina growled as her body tightened and shook with her climax. Emma continued moving inside her until her wife leaned forward and Emma stood to catch her in her arms. Both women were panting and Emma moved Regina under the water and began washing her, first her hair, and then she cleaned her wife's beautiful body with a loofah and apple scented body wash. "Emma, you are amazing. I'm surprised I lasted so long without having sex with you."
"Likewise, Regina. You're fucking incredible. What got into you today that allowed me to get such a treat?"
"You're delicious. You know that feeling when you go so long without sex that once you have it, it's like you can't stop. Your body just keeps wanting that release over and over again?"
Emma chuckled. "Yes, I know that feeling. All morning, all I've wanted to do was go to your office and take you right then and there."
Regina chuckLed lightly. "And…thank you for the flowers and note, sweetheart. I love you, very much, Emma."
"I have one more surprise."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, I figured since you've been doing so much and being so amazing, I would take dinner off your hands tonight and I bought stuff to make those fajitas you love. Oh, and I bought you your favorite strawberry ice cream."
"Thank you, dear."
The women finished their shower and relaxed with each other in the living room for a couple of hours until it was time for Emma to start dinner. Henry had practice after school, so he wasn't home yet, but both David and Henry would be arriving soon.
Both women made their way into the kitchen. Regina sipped on a bottle of water while Emma cut peppers, onions and chicken. The brunette watched thoughtfully as her wife moved around the kitchen with practiced ease. She smiled as she watched the blonde, she hadn't noticed when Emma had become good at cooking, but it had happened and she was proud that she had taught her that.
Everyone kept questioning her reasons for forgiving Emma, herself included. She had thought it over and over trying to figure out why she did it. What Emma did hurt, and badly. But, when she thought about how far Emma had come, how far both of them had come since they met, since they started dating, she didn't care. Emma had gone from a runner, a loner and a damaged woman to a wife, a mother, a strong and courageous woman. Regina considered the changes in herself as well. She had been angry, damaged and vengeful and now she was happy, whole and had a family; the family she had always wanted. So no, she couldn't bring herself to regret forgiving Emma.
"What are you thinking about?" Emma asked, interrupting the brunette's thoughts.
"Us."
"What about us?"
"Just how far we've come, and how we make each other better." Emma smiled and leaned over the island, pressing her weight on her palms so she could reach far enough to kiss Regina chastely on the mouth.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Emma."
"How was work this morning?"
"It was fine, dear. It was work. I know I'm supposed to be less stressed with the shorter days, but it just means that I have to get through more each day than I used to have to."
"What about your assistant?"
"She's good, but she can't really do my actual duties."
"Well…if you're going to take maternity leave when you have the baby, you'll have to train someone on the job. Why not start now and have them work half shifts as well? Or maybe even just a couple days a week?"
Regina thought on that a moment. "You know, that's a really good idea. Thank you, Emma."
"Of course." The blonde offered a wide smile, happy that she could help her wife.
"Emma?"
"Yeah?"
"What do you think we should name her?" Regina asked, rubbing her hand over her stomach.
"Hmm…I don't know. What names do you like?"
"I like the name Amara."
"That's pretty."
"You don't have any names that you like?"
"I don't know. I always liked the names Sawyer or Carter for a girl."
"Surnames? Those aren't bad, actually."
"Why do you sound surprised?"
"I'm not, I just…I like them." The rest of Regina's response was cut off when the doorbell rang. The women looked at each other with confused expressions because the only people they were expecting always walked in freely, knowing they didn't need to answer the door. Regina stood. "I'll get it."
"I'll come with you," Emma offered, walking around the island to follow Regina to the door. Her wife pulled the door open and both women gasped.
"Snow…" Regina choked, then cleared her throat. "Well, dear, what can I do for you?"
