a/n: After watching T.R.A.C.K.S, I've come up with a lot of ideas to write – so excuse if I over load you with updates. It depends if I can get them all out before I head off to bed. I apologise for the terrible portrayal, hence why these Ward insight chapters are so small.

Into Focus.
Standing there watching her was hard enough of him, but to know she could be gone from the team within a mere two ours made his heart somewhat break. He'd grown too close for comfort with his Rookie, she meant more to him than she would ever know and ever realise. Yet, seeing her in the cyrochamber, blood stained clothing and a unruly pale complexion made him see red. This was all Coulson's fault, Ian was right to some extent – the Agency didn't like the fact a young, un-experienced hacker had made the team, but it was Coulson who put her into the lime light and she wanted nothing more than to prove that she was good enough. His hand throbbed as the black Operative slammed his fist into the bonnet of the SHIELD jeep, his breathing coming out from the exertion along with perspiration along his forehead.
This was not good news.
It wasn't until he felt a hand on his that he turned his head only to see Agent May, after what he saw earlier – fury rises within him like gasoline licked flames. If the two of them hadn't been sharing a moment, they could have gotten to her sooner – but no. "I'm not angry at myself." He all but muttered harshly, turning away as he removed his white-tight fist from underneath hers; in this exact moment he wished he could just rewind time and get there quicker – stop her from her irrational thoughts, and protect her. Even to the point in which Grant Ward would have took the bullet (or two in her case) for her.
A large exhale escaped his lips, turning away he all but stalked over to where his Rookie lay, cold and in a world of endless darkness. A choak escaped his lips as he hunched over the cyro-chamber, he was her S.O, not the other way round – he should have been there, should have been quicker. So, whilst he fumed silently, he dragged a stall from the lab and sat by her side until the flight would take them to the medical facility in which to bring her back to him.
In this moment, he wished he had walked through Skye's door that night.
