a/n: This came to me when listening to Britney Spears – Alien, I would recommend listening to it because it makes me think so much of Skye and her origins being unknown and how she feels Alien-ed out, isolated. Thank-you for all the reviews, I would name you all but there are so many – I really am grateful for your time and response.

Disclaimer: I own nothing, just playing in Marvels/ABC's and Joss Weldon's sandbox.

Alien.

An 0-8-4.

What did that even mean? That she had an unknown origin and that she could be potential threat and danger to the human world? So, what did it mean?

When Coulson had told her just moments ago about her past, the young brunette had been thinking of worst case scenario but it hadn't been as bad in comparison to what was going through her mind. It was worse, so much that it could even be considered that maybe she just was an alien from another planet – very similar to Thor but with human genetics? Was that even possible? Her head throbbed just thinking about it, there were so many answers and she couldn't answer them – no-one could. It made her realise just how alone she was.

Even when Ward had taken Skye to the Wall of Valor, even when she saw the name of the Agent who had protect her – Agent Avery, why would she put her life on the line for an 0-8-4? Did that mean that this agent knew of her history? Just that she was a lonely baby in the middle of China with know background knowledge, there was no trace of her origin – where she came from before, who her parents were – what her bloodline could tell scientists. Yet, S.H.I.E.L.D had protected her since the beginning. How stupid it now seemed that she had been hacking into their database when she was with The Rising Tide, trying to find out why her parentage had been redacted. When her hatred stemmed from the hatred within the Rising Tide, but also because they were hiding valued information that she had to know.

With a shake of her head, Skye tried to ignore the questions running wild in her mind – her thoughts just revolving around what Coulson had told her. Didn't that also mean that all the team on the bus were now at risk? That she could hurt them when they trusted her – or did they know? Had they been told about her being an 0-8-4? It didn't seem possible that a person could be an 0-8-4 when the last one she saw, was an Asgardian piece. It scared her more than it should have. With that last though, Skye made her way out of her room and down to the make-shift gym in the cargo bay; if she couldn't stop the thoughts and questions then she'd work them out until she was exhausted enough that she would drop to sleep.

Insomniac or not, if it was the only way then she'd do it.

She was slamming her fists against the punching bag with some force when Ward found her, he'd been to her bunk only to find it empty – with no signs of the occupant. So he naturally came to the first place she'd be if struggling to sleep, he watched her from afar – noting down that the young hackers muscles seemed tight with stress and uneasiness. He moved down the spiral staircase only to see that she hadn't put on wraps around her hands nor gloves, just bare fists. Shaking his head, he moved forward.

"Skye, stop."

But the brunette didn't hear him, too focused in the punching trying to rid her mind of the constant chatter. Feeling as if she was about to explode like a live bomb, she almost punched her S.O when she felt a hand on her shoulder – he easily blocked it, but still it didn't mean the guilt didn't show in her deep, chocolate gaze. "Ward!" She snapped, moving further back from him – not meeting the two idyllic green orbs that she thought might show fear towards her. "Talk to me Skye."

She hesitated, a moments pause that gave away everything Agent Ward needed to know. Instead of allowing her to answer, he grasped her wrist gently – observing for both broken skin and bruises, though at this moment in time ,it was just tomato red in colour due to the pressure. Instead of letting go, Ward gently tugged her forward until she met his chest when he then embraced her tightly; "You're part of this family, whether you know it or not Skye – we're not going to leave you behind. I promise."

Suddenly, there was silence in her head – no questions, no lingering worries or thoughts protesting against her actions; for now. She knew she was who she was, Skye – there was no questioning it. She was still the same bubbly person she was when she first met both Ward and Coulson many months ago.

This was her family now, not the one she born into but one she was given and wanted in.
