a/n: something small; I do apologise for the wait. I've been struggling to write as I've been ill and with work; I just haven't gotten around to it. Not only that but with this program; damn this program. Bring on the finale and season 2 of AOS!

Disclaimer: I own nothing, nada, zilch. All goes to Marvel/ABC, I'm merely drowning with my ship.
Repudiation.
Denial.
They say it's when one refuses to acknowledge that the impossible has just turned possible; that there was no probable outcome that could make the person come to their senses and accept the truth. It was, in Agent Skye's case - that SHIELD was gone, ripped apart from its very seams, from the inside out; and Directory Fury was dead. She'd never met the man before, but she had heard enough - enough to know that whilst his views weren't always ideal by some, he was man of his word. Shaking her head, the brunette glanced over to see Coulson, as stoic as a statue as he was when they were told merely moments ago. It was hard on all SHIELD Agents to know that, one; they're future, their career was demolished. Gone, just like that - they were all classes as fugitives, criminals because no where was safe anymore. The governments top, classified organisation that was in place to protect everyone was no more; the only people who were there for the protection of humanity was overcome by Nazi's.
She despised them, HYDRA that is. One of her own fellow comrades had turned to the darker side; it hurt to know that she, no the entire team had been played and betrayed by who they thought was their own. The hacker couldn't even say his name without getting a bitter taste, it was that same comrade who had been her S.O, teaching her the ropes of becoming a member of the Agency - showing her the ins and out of becoming a field officer. What a coincidence, the man she ended up having feelings for was there to potentially end them - hell, he was involved with the man who had caused her to be shot. No once, but twice. Ironic, isn't it. Providence - a safe haven, provided by Fury himself; a classified location in which they were meant to be safe except it was the complete opposite. He had come after Skye, for one thing - for her to hack the hard drive which contained all the information and data taken from their missions.
With better luck and with a lot of hope, she really did believe maybe there was a way; to bring him back from the dark place he had situated himself in.
