INT. INFIRMARY - MARLOWE-1

General Pollock stares down the Doctor. All eyes are on the two men, except for Wainwright's. She remains focused on Newt's brain.

WAINWRIGHT
Doctor, I need your help over here.

There's panic in Wainwright's voice. The Doctor senses it and abandons his staredown to make a move to help, but the General steps in his way.

DOCTOR
If you don't let me help, Newt will die.

Pollock grins and pulls a walkie-talkie from his belt. He speaks into it.

POLLOCK
Hurricane to Jethro, respond.

JETHRO (V.O.)
Jethro, here.

POLLOCK
The station is secured. You're needed in the infirmary. There's someone in need of immediate medical assistance; acute head trauma.

JETHRO (V.O.)
I'll be right in, General. Jethro out.

Pollock returns the walkie-talkie to his belt.

POLLOCK
Dr. Jethro is our on-hand physician.

DOCTOR
A field medic isn't qualified to-

POLLOCK
He was ROTC in college. We put him through medical school. He served overseas before being transferred to Fort Lee, then worked as a Neurosurgeon at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut for over ten years.

A silver-haired man dressed like the other commandos, but unarmed, enters; Dr. JETHRO. He immediately undresses and scrubs up, while surveying what's already been done on Newt.

JETHRO
(to Wainwright)
What are we looking at?

WAINWRIGHT
Blunt force trauma to the head. The ceiling fell on her. Scans are on the wall. There was sub-dural bleeding. We needed to reduce the pressure and remove a hematoma.

JETHRO
(to Wainwright)
Vitals?

While the surgeons converse, General Pollock motions to the Doctor as if to ask, "satisfied?".

POLLOCK
You see, Doctor? We're more than capable of taking care of our own.

Pollock motions to his team and starts barking out orders.

POLLOCK
Frick, take the Doctor somewhere you can lock him down. Take Beers with you. Jackson, you stay with Jethro.

JACKSON
Permission to take alternate assignment, sir.

POLLOCK
What's the problem?

JACKSON
Her brains are showing.

FRANCO
Wuss.

POLLOCK
All right, Franco, you think it's no big deal, you stay. Jackson and Kagh, you two lockdown the command center while Tarin and his team get this place back up and running.

Tarin looks confused.

POLLOCK
(to Tarin)
The quarantine is still in place, but I want those drills re-activated and placed back in service. I've got a second team dealing with your power issues. Think you and your people here can handle your end?

TARIN
I'm not sure. We took a pretty big hit when the earthquake struck.

POLLOCK
You have two hours. If you can't do it by then, I'll find somebody who can.

TARIN
You killed Yuri.

POLLOCK
Excuse me?

TARIN
Yuri Shrapova. He was the driver of the truck you exploded.

POLLOCK
You ever get your hand caught in the hinge of a door?

TARIN
What?

POLLOCK
Or in a pair of pliers? We are standing at a pivot point in time. This may be the most important moment in the history of human civilization as we know it. Don't believe me? Ask him.

Pollock points to the Doctor, who doesn't react.

POLLOCK
Yuri ran from that. You can't run from history. Now, get your ass to work.

Frick and Beers grab the Doctor and drag him from the room.

JACKSON
All right, everyone, you heard the man. Move on out. You know the place. Time to get those sludge machines rotating again.

Tarin and his team do as they are instructed.

INT. JUMP ENGINE ROOM - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Energy streams, like the one we saw under the floor earlier, pour into the three-story engine room from a series of funnel-shaped cylinders at three foot intervals up and down the walls. They converge on a multi-pronged carousel spinning at hundreds of miles per hour and contained inside of a semi-transparent chamber similar to a bank vault. This is the jump engine. The rate at which the carousel spins is increasing.

Nearby, a wall panel is kicked open and Doctor Two crawls out. He looks around to make sure no one is around, then sneaks his way over to a console just in front of the jump engine. He operates the controls, but hears voices not far off, and has to abandon his work. He pulls out his gun and hides behind a work station.

Head engineer MORPORO and three of his MINIONS enter through a side door. They appear groggy, even hungover, from their long stasis sleep.

MORPORO
Captain Visilimee wants a full diagnostic run on all the ship's systems before we even think about starting landing procedures. We need to make sure the integrity grid wasn't compromised by the sheering forces of the wormhole.

MINION 1
Yes, sir.

Doctor Two jumps out from where he was hiding and points the gun at Morporo.

DOCTOR TWO
This is a Turoksa Annihilator, and I have it pointed at your head.

Morporo and the minions freeze. They throw their hands in the air, instinctively.

MORPORO
I can see that.

DOCTOR TWO
Are you able to lock this section down? Seal it from the inside?

MORPORO
Yes.

Doctor Two returns to the jump engine console and pulls up a schematic of the engine room.

DOCTOR TWO
I see there are entry points in the back, behind me, and one each on both the second and third levels.

MORPORO
That's correct.

DOCTOR TWO
Send one, and only one, of your men. The rest of you are going to weld that maintenance shaft door shut.

Doctor Two points to the shaft through which he entered the engine room.

DOCTOR TWO
If your man sets off an alarm, tries to get a message out, or tries to escape, I'll shoot the rest of you. Do you have any doubts with respect to my intentions?

MORPORO
I do not.

DOCTOR TWO
Do it.

Morporo turns to Minion 1 and orders him on his way. The rest of them get to work on welding the maintenance shaft door closed.

INT. BRIDGE - BRYGOSAN SHIP

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE, a Brygosan whose disarming charm is matched only by his handsomeness, saunters onto the bridge where his crew is already hard at work rebooting their various systems.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Report. Was the jump a success?

FIRST OFFICER MUMY approaches, his chin in the air. He wears ornate gold on his uniform, distinct from everyone else, even the Captain.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Primary systems are still coming online, but I should think it bodes well for us that we're all alive and in one piece.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Always a plus.

A door opens to the rear of the bridge. Chief of Security COMMANDER K enters carrying Rose over his shoulder. He has to duck to make it through the door.

COMMANDER K
Captain.

Everyone turns. The bridge is suddenly silent as Commander K drops Rose on her feet. He grips her from behind around her neck to hold her in place. She surveys the room, sees everyone staring at her, and, after a short hesitation, offers them a short fingery wave.

ROSE
Hi.

COMMANDER K
I found her in the specimen hold operating the communications feed. She was talking to someone outside the ship.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
A Time Lord spy!

ROSE
No. No! I'm not a Time Lord.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Execute her, immediately.

ROSE
What?!

Commander K wraps his huge hands around Rose's neck. She punches his wrists and kicks his shins to try and free herself, but he's too strong.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Our position has been compromised. All hands, prepare for attack!

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Belay that order.

Rose's face is red as Commander K continues to strangle her with his bare hands.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Commander!

Commander K shakes with rage, but ultimately releases his grip on Rose's neck. She gags and coughs as she sucks in as much air as she can.

Captain Visilimee walks over and leans against a railing near where Rose has taken a seat on the floor.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
How did you get aboard the ark?

ROSE
I'm... not... a Time Lord.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Yes, I can see that, darling. You're a disaster. I would expect more of a fight from a Time Lord. However, my question still stands. How are you on my ship?

She looks up at him, hesitant.

ROSE
The truth?

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
It would save time.

ROSE
I'm a human. Your ship is stuck under the ice on my planet. I...

She looks at the faces staring at her.

ROSE
... I came here to explore it.

First Officer Mumy looks to his Captain.

The Captain turns to SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Confirm that, immediately.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
Yes, sir!

Jetreel gets right to work.

Visilimee turns back to his interrogation of Rose.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Now, what you've just told me is the 'why', but very much not the 'how'.

ROSE
Right. I... beamed in.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
You 'beamed'?

ROSE
Yeah. You know, with a transporter.

COMMANDER K
You mean a transmat?

ROSE
Sure, what 'asshole' said. Scotty beamed me down.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
That means there could be more of them. Commander K, assemble your security teams and have them sweep the ship.

COMMANDER K
Yes, first officer!

Commander K salutes and turns to leave, but stops.

COMMANDER K
What do I do with the girl? Can I kill her now?

Rose looks up at the Captain, her eyes wide with fear. He considers his options when...

SCIENCE OFFICER
Captain, I have confirmation.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Report.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
According to these readings, we're...

She trails off due to a knot in her throat.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
We're what? What are you pausing for dramatic effect? Spit it out, woman!

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
We didn't make it to orbit. We're beneath the planet's surface at coordinates very near the planet's northern most pole.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
It's impossible. It can't be true. It just can't be.

Captain Visilimee's legs buckle and he holds on to the railing for support. After a moment where it appears as if he is about to throw up, he composes himself.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
(to Rose)
Your species, you said it was 'human'. How many are there? Is this world a colony of yours? A thousand? Ten thousand?

Still on the floor, Rose shakes her head.

ROSE
More. Four, five, maybe six billion.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
I don't believe it. No. My father was head of the science division. There wasn't supposed to be any intelligent life on this planet.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Jetrell, check the ship's chronometer. Confirm the date.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
We must have landed on the wrong planet. That's the only explanation. We came out of the jump too early, or too late. There was only supposed to be plant and animal life on this bleeding planet!

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
The year, Jetrell!

SCIENCE OFFICER JETRELL
Checking...

Jetrell's shoulder sink.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETRELL
According to the ship's chronometer, we're currently in the year... four, ot ot ot, seven, ot nine ot ot.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Oh gods...

Someone on the bridge bursts into tears.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
The ship must have gone into protection mode when we didn't make it to orbit. It kept us in hibernation. We've been asleep for ages, long enough for intelligent life to evolve and conquer this world.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
If there are already people here, where are we supposed to live?

Rose stands as silence and a total lack of answers takes over the bridge.

INT. COMMAND CENTER - MARLOWE-1

Tarin pretends to work as he snoops on General Pollock conversing with Jackson at the main entrance. He then walks over to Desmond, who is himself instructing a clean-up crew in removal of debris from the ceiling.

TARIN
(voice low)
Desmond, how's it going?

DESMOND
Slowly. I don't know how they expect us to get this done in a couple of hours. Half of our equipment is smashed. It's going to take days just to get all this crap from the ceiling out of the way.

TARIN
Maybe you should complain.

DESMOND
Something tells me the General isn't in the mood for criticism right now.

TARIN
Yeah, but I really think you should complain.

DESMOND
It just doesn't make sense to me. Even if we manage to patchwork enough of a network together to get half the drills running again, the drills themselves are likely compromised.

TARIN
That's a good point. You should tell the General. He's over there.

DESMOND
I mean, what are we even doing, here? There needs to be safety inspections, massive overhauls...

TARIN
Yeah, yeah. You should say that to him. Now.

Desmond looks hard at Tarin for a moment.

DESMOND
Wait, did you want me to-?

Tarin gives him a look as if to say "YES, YOU IDIOT!"

Desmond nods.

DESMOND
I'm going to go complain.

TARIN
Loudly.

DESMOND
I'm going to complain loudly.

Tarin waits for Desmond to approach General Pollock.

DESMOND
Oh, General... a word?

While Desmond distracts the General, Tarin makes his way over to a second door in the corner and slips out without anyone noticing.

INT. HALLWAY - MARLOWE-1

Tarin limps down the hall.

Voices ahead.

He slips around the corner and stays quiet as two commandos walk by, none the wiser.

He continues on his way towards...

INT. OFFICE - MARLOWE-1

Tarin limps inside an office and closes the door quietly behind him. He walks over to a desk under a window and climbs on top of the desk. He reaches towards the glass to push the window open, when something outside catches his attention.

EXT. MARLOWE-1 - DAY

Corporal Hiller stands outside the cargo-hauler instructing a team of WORKER COMMANDOS. One of them operates a forklift capable of driving in the snow, which he uses to extract a large cage from the open back of the cargo-hauler. Mounted inside that cage is a cylindrical devices with the word "DANGER - EXPLOSIVE" written on the side. It is quite obviously a WMD.

HILLER
Easy with that. That's it. Back her up.

The forklift backs up.

INT. OFFICE - MARLOWE-1

Tarin sees the WMD from the window.

TARIN
Holy mother of...

A voice. From inside or outside?

Tarin ducks down. He panics and limps quickly back to the door.

INT. HALLWAY - MARLOWE-1

Tarin pokes his out of the office. When he sees no one around, he limps back to...

INT. COMMAND CENTER - MARLOWE-1

Desmond raises his voice and flails his arms as he makes a scene in front of General Pollock and Private Jackson.

DESMOND
We are United States citizens and this is private property.

POLLOCK
This is a joint operation.

DESMOND
Our rights have been violated. You are supposed to be the good guys. We just suffered through a traumatic event. In case you didn't notice, there was an earthquake here. Why aren't you helping us? I think I sprained my finger.

Desmond shows them his finger.

JACKSON
You want me to punch him out, General?

DESMOND
Do it and I will sue your ass so bad, your grandchildren will be on food stamps.

POLLOCK
We are here to help, son.

DESMOND
I don't think you are. These work conditions are absolutely unacceptable. I can spot at least fifty safety violations in this room without even turning my head.

POLLOCK
There are important things at stake.

DESMOND
It can't be done in the time you're asking.

POLLOCK
I don't want to hear what can't be done!

Tarin sneaks back inside. Desmond sees this over the General's shoulder.

POLLOCK
If you can't get the entire facility up and running, then focus on drills three-gamma through seven-echo. Those are your priority. I need you to-

DESMOND
Oh, okay. We can do that. Thanks for hearing me out. I just needed to vent.

Desmond smiles and walks away.

Jackson and Pollock share a confused glance.

JACKSON
Did we just get played, sir?

POLLOCK
Keep your eyes open.

JACKSON
Yes, sir.

Tarin walks over to a desk where Carolyn is hard at work setting up some of the computers. Her feet stick out from the desk while she works under it.

TARIN
Carolyn...

Startled by Tarin's stealthy approach, Carolyn jumps and hits her head on the desk.

CAROLYN
Ow. Son of a...

Tarin bends down so he can make eye contact with her.

CAROLYN
What?

TARIN
I need to know if they disconnected Newt's workstation.

CAROLYN
I didn't see them disconnect it.

TARIN
If they didn't, can you login to it from here?

Carolyn thinks.

CAROLYN
Um. I don't see why not.

TARIN
Pretend like you're still doing whatever you're doing, but I need you set that up for me.

CAROLYN
Do I want to know why?

TARIN
I know why the General's here. I know what they're going to do to the ship.

Carolyn waits.

TARIN
They're gonna blow it up.

Carolyn's expression sinks.

CAROLYN
I knew I didn't want to know.

She gets back to work.
