INT. INFIRMARY - MARLOWE-1

A gunshot rings out.

The Doctor, stunned, sees his own blood splattered on Newt's monitor. He looks down at his chest and sees a hole in it.

INT. TARDIS

Rose sees the Doctor's image on the screen through the droplets of blood that stain the camera lens on the other end. Despite her ethereal golden glow, the horror of the situation is not lost on her. Tears well up in her eyes as she realizes what's happened.

ROSE
Doctor?!

Calmly, he holds his hand over the wound. His eyes flutter, either from the pain or light-headedness. He smiles at her. It's a warm smile, a thankful smile, but there's still fear in his eyes.

DOCTOR (V.O.)
You need to get out of there.

He collapses out of view. In the background, we can see General Pollock, still holding the gun he used to shoot the Doctor.

ROSE
(crying)
No. Doctor, no.

Captain Visilimee and Commander K observe from a few steps away.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Commander, I need you to find out what's going on in our engine room.

COMMANDER K
Sir?

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Do it. Now!

Commander K runs out.

Visilimee, still very much afraid of Rose, but feeling sorry for her, takes a step closer. On the screen, so does General Pollock. The two men take a long and curious look at Rose, but then become aware of each other. Their eyes meet.

General Pollock squints, grins, and cuts the feed.

Captain Visilimee turns his attention back on Rose.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
You were telling the truth, weren't you?

Tears and golden light stream from her eyes.

ROSE
You don't have a lot of time.

Captain Visilimee backs away, then turns and runs.

INT. COIL CORRIDOR - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Captain Visilimee runs out of the Tardis. His men clear a path for him.

INT. OUTSIDE THE ENGINE ROOM - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Captain Visilimee runs to the door where Commander K and Officer Tet observe Doctor Two on the monitor.

COMMANDER K
He's still alive.

OFFICER TET
And very much intent on blowing us to bits. He's close, too.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Get me the bridge.

OFFICER TET
I'm still working on restoring communications to the engine room.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Forget him, I need to speak to the bridge!

Officer Tet nods.

INT. BRIDGE - BRYGOSAN SHIP

First Officer Mumy and Science Officer Jetreel are hard at work on the calculations to jump the ark ship into Earth's orbit.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
This is the Captain to Science Officer Jetreel. Respond.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
Jetreel here, Captain.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
Have we received any encoded transmissions from the surface?

First Officer Mumy looks up from what he was doing.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Encoded transmissions? What kind of-?

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
Just look for one.

Science Officer Jetreel checks the logs.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
We have. It appears to be... a complete set of star maps in all surrounding systems, including a set of coordinates for a type-Viergo inhabitable planetoid.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
I need you to start the calculations for a jump to that planet, right away.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
These came from the Time Lord, didn't they?

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
The woman was telling the truth. There really are two of them and I am now convinced that the one on the surface was trying to help us.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
What kind of deal did you make with him? What lies did he tell you to twist your mind?

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
I want you to work on the calculations right away. We don't have a lot of time.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
That's right, Captain, we don't, and Jetreel and I have almost completed the calculations for a jump to orbit.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
We can't jump to orbit. The humans don't want us here and we can't afford to fight them.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
I refuse to put my fate and the fate of the entire Brygosan race in the hands of a man who put our very existence in peril in the first place.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE (V.O.)
I gave you an order.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Imagine that.

First Officer Mumy cuts off his Captain's transmission.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
(to Jetreel)
Keep working. As soon as we've finished the calculations for the jump to orbit, we're initiating the jump.

First Officer Mumy turns to another officer.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Seal off the bridge. No one gets in or out. No one.

The officer nods and executes Mumy's orders.

INT. OUTSIDE THE ENGINE ROOM - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Captain Visilimee's heart races. He punches the wall.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Mumy? Mumy! Dammit!

COMMANDER K
It is mutiny.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Commander, you're with me. We have to get to the bridge.

COMMANDER K
At your side, sir!

They run off to the bridge together.

INT. TRANSPORT - MARLOWE-1 - DAY

Old Rose watches through the window from inside the transport as Hiller supervises the withdrawal of troops and supplies. In the distance, something catches Old Rose's eye.

EXT. TRANSPORT - MARLOWE-1 - DAY

Near an open door...

Oink.

INT. TRANSPORT - MARLOWE-1 - DAY

Old Rose sees Piggy, the Doctor's little green friend, playing in the snow by an open doorway. Curious, Old Rose gets up from her seat and sneaks outside.

EXT. TRANSPORT - MARLOWE-1 - DAY

Old Rose barely avoids being spotted by Hiller when she ducks down behind one of the transport's massive wheels. Once the coast is clear, she re-emerges in pursuit of Piggy.

As she gets close, Piggy notices Old Rose and freezes. He oinks at her, then quickly runs inside.

OLD ROSE
No, no, no, come back...

Old Rose follows Piggy inside.

INT. INFIRMARY - MARLOWE-1

Franco holds the Doctor's head up as he lays on the ground, blood spilling from his chest. Wainwright, seeing this, tries to leave Newt in order to help.

JETHRO
Where are you going?

WAINWRIGHT
He'll die.

General Pollock turns and points his gun at Wainwright.

POLLOCK
Then, he'll die. He is an alien. She...

He points to Newt.

POLLOCK
...is a human. Learn your priorities and tend to your human patient.

Wainwright backs off and returns to caring for Newt.

On the ground, the Doctor's breathing grows even more labored as he stares straight up at the ceiling.

DOCTOR
Come on, Rose. Come on. Get them home.

Pollock overhears what the Doctor says. He walks over and bends down.

POLLOCK
I'm afraid you're too late. Any minute now, that drill will reach the ark ship's hull, and when it does, no more ark ship. You've failed, Doctor. You failed in your mission, you failed your companion, and you will never hurt us again.

The Doctor winces in pain.

INT. OUTSIDE THE BRIDGE - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Captain Visilimee and Commander K reach the door to the bridge, but when they try to open it, they find it locked. Commander K tries his command code override. When that doesn't work...

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Let me try.

Commander K moves out of the way so Captain Visilimee can try. It doesn't open.

COMMANDER K
We're locked out!

Visilimee activates a comm unit on this side of the door.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
Mumy, open the door.

No response.

CAPTAIN VISILIMEE
This is Captain Visilimee to any of the bridge crew hearing this transmission. I am giving you a direct order. Open. This. Door! Now!

Commander K motions for the Captain to step back. Once he does, K pulls out his weapon and begins firing at the door. Sparks fly, but at this rate it will take hours before the door gives way.

INT. BRIDGE - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Science Officer Jetreel looks up at First Officer Mumy.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
I think that's it, sir. We can jump into orbit on your command.

First Officer Mumy nods. He surveys all the faces of the bridge crew, as they all look to him for their next move. Many of them seem confident, but others appear torn by their loyalties to the Captain.

Mumy moves to the center of the bridge, compelled to say something.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Our destiny will not be decided by a Time Lord. We were entrusted with the fate of the Brygosan race. We must take charge of our own lives if we are to survive. You cannot be strong unless you act strong.

First Officer Mumy sits in the Captain's chair.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Science Officer Jetreel, prepare to initiate the jump to orbit.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
Ready on your command, sir.

Mumy takes a breath.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
Jump.

Science Officer Jetreel initiates the jump sequence, but...

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
Something's wrong.

FIRST OFFICER MUMY
What is it?

Frantic, Jetreel looks over at the readings on a nearby station. Her expression turns bleak.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
There's an overload in progress.

Her shoulders sink.

SCIENCE OFFICER JETREEL
We were too late.

Devastated, First Officer Mumy collapses in his seat.

INT. JUMP ENGINE ROOM - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Morporo and his team of engineers bang helplessly on the locked door as the jump engine glows bright white amidst the overload process. Standing in front of it is Doctor Two, his eyes shut. He tilts his head backwards and lets the intense amount of energy wash over him, accepting his fate as the core explodes.

INT. TARDIS

On her knees, her head down, Rose sits in silence with her eyes shut. She hears... something.

INT. UNDERGROUND

The drill carrying the WMD strikes the surface of the Brygosan ship and explodes, tearing through the ship's hull even as an explosion from the inside bursts outward.

INT. COIL CORRIDOR - BRYGOSAN SHIP

Commander K's men are incinerated by two separate explosions which converge on the Tardis.

INT. TARDIS

The Tardis is rocked by explosions.

Rose stands up and walks through the control room as all the various panels, lights, and ship systems and explode around her. She stops in front of the core and looks up.

ROSE
(calm)
No.

Rose raises her hands and the glowing energy inside of her ignites like Phoenix flames. We hear the sound of the ethereal gears turning, despite the destruction around her. It is Rose herself who begins to vanish.

INT. INFIRMARY - MARLOWE-1

An earthquake shakes the entire room. Everyone attempts to hold on to something, but there's nothing to hold on to that isn't being shaken violently until...

Everything stops, except the people, as if time itself has frozen all around them. Debris falling from the ceiling hangs in mid-air. Wainwright and Jethro are astonished when they realize several of their instruments are also suspended in the air.

General Pollock looks around in confusion from the corner of the room when, all of a sudden, a golden light engulfs them all. We hear the sound of the ethereal gears turning as Rose appears in the center of the room.

POLLOCK
Rose?

She looks at him, her eyes glowing orange. He stares at her in awe.

POLLOCK
You look beautiful.

ROSE
You look tiny.

She points at him and his body is thrown through a stone wall and out of the room.

Rose turns her attention on the Doctor. She runs over, bends down, and lifts his head onto her lap.

ROSE
Doctor.

DOCTOR
Rose. But how?

ROSE
I don't know. I wanted you safe, and then I was here.

Oink-oink-oink.

Piggy runs in from the open doorway and right over to the Doctor on the ground. The Doctor smiles.

DOCTOR
Oh, Piggy. Rose, I'd like you to meet Piggy.

Rose smiles.

ROSE
You named your pig, Piggy? Not very original.

The Doctor laughs.

Meanwhile, from the doorway, we see Old Rose has followed Piggy all the way inside. She stays and watches her younger self and the Doctor from afar, keeping quiet so they don't know she's there.

DOCTOR
Rose, it's very important. I want you to know, I'm sorry.

ROSE
You don't have to be sorry.

DOCTOR
Yes, I do. I cheated. My mission was a dangerous one. I knew that. When I saw how it hurt you, I couldn't bare it. I had to let you go. I couldn't do or say anything if I thought it would make you stay, even if I thought it would make me happy.

Old Rose listens and is moved by his words.

Rose doesn't understand.

ROSE
But I never left you.

DOCTOR
You did. You will. So you could be happy again, I had to let you go. Funny thing was, I knew once I did that, I could never be happy again. That's why I did what I did. That's why I went back for you the second time. I thought if I had a second chance, I could do better. I could be perfect for you. I mean, I'm so close already.

Rose laughs.

Old Rose laughs.

DOCTOR
But here you are. I've hurt you again.

He reaches up with what's left of his strength. He wipes a tear drop from Rose's face.

DOCTOR
And a Doctor who hurts people is the worst kind of Doctor.

OLD ROSE
But a Doctor who also loves people is the most special kind of Doctor there is.

The Doctor and Rose look up to see Old Rose walking towards them. She squats down next to them.

OLD ROSE
The thing about love is, it doesn't do any good if the person doesn't know you love them.

Old Rose looks at her younger self.

OLD ROSE
Tell him.

Rose looks at the Doctor as he struggles to breathe.

ROSE
Doctor, when we first met, I was just some college student resigned to the next forty years of my life being a teacher in some god awful middle school somewhere. Because of you, I've gotten to see so many amazing things and places, meet all sorts of people no one else on Earth could even dream of. I even got to know my Dad. It's all been harrowing, but wonderful. But it's not just the experience or the life that you gave me... it's you. I know that no matter where I am, or when I am, I want to be there with you. I love you.

The Doctor smiles, even in as much pain as he's in. He holds her hand, looks her in her eyes...

DOCTOR
And I...

...and takes his final breath.

Piggy cuddles next to the Doctor's body, resting his chinny-chin-chin on the Doctor's stomach.

Rose's lip quivers. Tears flood her eyes as the Doctor's lifeless body lies limp in her lap.

ROSE
If I let go, everybody dies.

OLD ROSE
Then, don't let go. If I were you, and I may be the one person in all of time and space who can say that I am, I'd do anything I could to hold on to the person I love.

Rose remembers back to when the Doctor once said that exact same thing to her (end of Episode 4).

Rose stands, holding the Doctor's hand in hers. Old Rose backs away, but watches.

ROSE
I won't let go.

OLD ROSE
I know you won't.

ROSE
This time... everybody lives.

The energy inside of Rose erupts outward, up, and through what's left of the roof.

EXT. MARLOWE-1 - DAY

A beam of energy explodes from the roof of the building straight up into the sky.

EXT. EARTH - SPACE

The second Tardis orbits Earth, where it is struck by the orange beam of energy from the surface.

INT. TARDIS

The second Tardis hums with energy. The ethereal gears turn.

EXT. EARTH - SPACE

In space, the Tardis circles the Earth faster... faster... faster... until it disappears in a flash of explosive light.

EXT. ETHEREAL PLANE

We tunnel through concentric circles of energy at insane speeds. Rose's head and torso appear at the center of it in a kind of phased state. The Tardis spins towards her.

EXT. UNKNOWN SURFACE - ETHEREAL PLANE

The Doctor.

His eyes open. He finds himself standing on a glowing egg-like asteroid floating in nothing, nowhere. Not far off is Rose, facing him with her eyes still glowing from the same orange energy that seeps through the cracks of the asteroid's pock-marked surface.

DOCTOR
Rose? Rose, where are we?

ROSE
When are we.

DOCTOR
When?

ROSE
The beginning of time.

DOCTOR
Rose, we can't be here. No one's supposed to be able to come here. Anything we do could greatly affect the-

ROSE
I won't let go. I can't let go. Death is such a source of pain for us all. I can make it not so. I can change eternity, and wipe death from existence.

DOCTOR
You mustn't.

ROSE
Why not? I am one with the Tardis. She does not conform to our understanding of time. For her, there is no beginning and there is no end. She exists outside this flawed plane. We can, too. Without pain or death, there will be no need for Doctors. There will be only existence and forever to pursue everything it offers.

He steps closer, takes her hands.

DOCTOR
We can't re-write the laws of nature.

ROSE
I can.

He wipes tears from her face.

DOCTOR
My dear, sweet, wonderful, Rose. Things don't have to last forever to be special. And life doesn't have to be painless to be beautiful.

ROSE
I feel all of the universe for all of time. It's too much.

Her nose starts to bleed.

ROSE
I can't live with this inside of me.

DOCTOR
Then, it looks like you need a Doctor.

He leans in and kisses her. The orange energy passes from her lips into him.

The big bang explodes outward as they kiss. The universe is born.

INT. ROSE'S ROOM - TARDIS

Rose wakes up in her bed in the Tardis. She touches her face and finds the implant gone and her hair restored to its usual length.

ROSE
Doctor?

She hears a cry.

She jumps out of bed and runs out into the control room.

INT. TARDIS

Rose stops when she sees the Doctor, from behind, hunched over the controls to the Tardis. She walks around him and sees that he's in obvious pain.

ROSE
Doctor, what's happened?

DOCTOR
Don't you remember?

ROSE
I remember... a lot of color. And there was... singing?

DOCTOR
And what a performance it was, wouldn't you say?

ROSE
The ship. There was a ship, and then there was this light. What happened to the ship?

DOCTOR
Everybody lived. Work to be done, but everybody lived, just as you promised.

The Doctor cries out in agony and bends over at his midsection. Rose approaches to help, but he holds up his hand.

DOCTOR
No, don't. Don't come closer. I'm not... not entirely sure what's happening. Although, if I'm right, then you shouldn't be close to me when it does.

ROSE
I don't understand. What's happening?

He smiles, cringes, then smiles again.

DOCTOR
Oh, Rose. I was going to take you to so many places. Barcelona. Not the city Barcelona, the planet Barcelona. You'd love it. They have fantastic sandwiches.

Rose approaches the controls.

ROSE
We need to get you to a hospital.

DOCTOR
No. No, I'm afraid it's too late for that. Just promise me something... promise you won't hate me if I grow too many heads.

ROSE
You're not making any sense.

DOCTOR
I might never make sense again. I mean, I could come out of this with no tongue for all I know. Or worse, maybe I'll have a French accent or something, no one will ever know what the bloody hell I'm sayin'.

He doubles over.

ROSE
Doctor!

DOCTOR
It's all right. I absorbed all the energy of the Time Vortex, and you're not supposed to do that. Every cell in my body is... changing.

ROSE
Into what?

DOCTOR
Well, you see, Time Lords have this little trick, it's sort of a way of cheating death. Except it means I'm not going to see you like this again. Not like this. Not with this handsome face, anyway. But Rose, before I go-

ROSE
Don't say that.

He smiles.

DOCTOR
Before I go, this time, I want to say it. I just want to tell you, Rose Taylor, I love you.

ROSE
I love-

Golden light bursts out of the Doctor's body, from his hands, feet, and face. His body changes, right inside of his clothes, and his entire form morphs into... Doctor New.

He stands before Rose a new man, a little more squirrely than before, but maybe more charming than the last one. Rose sees this and her jaw drops. Her eyes widen. She doesn't know how to react, honestly.

DOCTOR NEW
Oh, hello. Wow. Wow. Le wow. Nope, not French. Thank God, not French. That's good. Very good. Now, where was I? Oh, yes, that's right. Barcelona.

He grins.

- End Serial -

This concludes my attempt at one full season of a Doctor Who - American Version series. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for humoring me.

Oink.
