Chapter 11: Doubts and Elves

...Or; The Plot Thickens

"Ah, Harry my boy! Please sit down!" Albus said with a false cheerfulness. He wasnt happy in the slightest, with his pawn not acting out his part at all. He needed to set things right. But he had (finally) managed to get the boy in his office, which certainly was a moral booster. "Lemon drop?"

Harry hesitantly accepted one, popping it into his mouth. He immediately wanted to spit the horrid thing out; but, to be polite, he endured it. He swallowed it difficulty and gave Albus a small smile which was returned generously.

"So, Harry, I wasn't aware that you had been adopted by the Sharps?" Albus gently probed. Harry seemed surprised, "Wait, why should you have? I mean I didn't know about you until after I was adopted."

Cheeky little brat, Albus sneered in his mind. "I am your magical guardian, since you were orphaned in the war. I should have been made aware of this." Harry mulled this over. It seemed to be a fair point.

"Now my boy, there are some things I would like to-" "Wait." Stay calm Albus, the Headmaster chanted in his mind. "I thought that during a magical adoption, it would shift to Father?"

That stopped Albus dead in his tracks. "Did you say that you were magically adopted?" Albus said, fearing the answer. Harry shrugged, "That's what Father said the Ritual did. He had adopted me but I wasn't, in the magical government's eyes, wasn't part of the family."

Harry snorted, "But that's silly. They are so obviously my family. What else could they be?" The young boy continued, unaware that Albus's thoughts were racing elsewhere, trying to pick up the pieces of his plan, dashed onto the ground by these, these... Sharps. It was making his blood boil. He needed to get him away from this people, as soon as possible.

"Indeed my boy. Tell me though, is your family a... Dark family?" He said in a whisper, for added effect. Harry looked a bit bewildered, "A bit. I mean, most Pureblood families are, right? Nothing wrong with that... Right?" Harry looked worriedly at his Headmaster.

Bingo. "Oh my poor child," Albus said, playing up his benevolent grandfather look, "It was Dark Families taut killed your parents. It was Dark families that have thrown the Wizarding world into chaos. Surely you've seen it first hand, even here. Young Draco has been disowned by such a family."

Harry was looking at the Headmaster with wide-eyes, "But," in a whisper, "Father wouldn't do that to me! Veritas wouldn't! They wouldn't leave me all alone!" He said, practically freaking out. Albus was mentally laughing manically, as his plan was working. Finally!

"I'm so sorry, my boy. I cannot say, though Dark families haven't had the best track record." Sympathy poured from the old man, "I'm sorry you've been so deceived for years, my boy. I'm sorry I wasn't there to tell you sooner."

He leaned forward to the scared young boy, "Think about it my child. Do not tell them, but I can save you if you need me to. I can remove you and give you a place that would actually love you, actually care for you. Please, think about what I've said, and tell me your descision in the next couple days. Please. It is for your own protection."

Albus stood up, "Now head back and head to your dorm to your bed. It's nearly time to go to sleep, and you need to be rested up. Goodnight Harry," He said, leading the boy to the door, "And remember, my door is always open." He said, eyes twinkling merrily. All according to plan.

Finally.

Antonio moved quickly down the halls of Durmstrang, heading for his office. He needed to get into contact with Father while Lucius was out and tied down in the Infirmary. He entered his rooms, locked the door and made a fire call to Father. He rubbed his temples to get rid of his headache.

Alek was sitting in a chair in front of the fireplace, Ashe on his lap, snuggling into his chest, a small content smile on his lips. A normal person might be a bit weirded out to see their father looking a few years younger than said person. Then to see him snuggling with another person who was older than both of you, but was even younger looking then your father currently was? Well, it'd be very, very weird. Still was a bit actually. But after Lucius's antics and the months that the two had been together had got him over that.

"Good afternoon son. What's wrong?" Alek said worriedly, playing a bit with Ashe's hair, who grinned a bit more in contentment. "Lucius had a breakdown," Antonio said with a sigh. His younger brother was a handful, and seemed to be getting worse. "We found him this morning giggling insanely, with red paint painted across his lips. The corridor we found him in was full of paint splattered everywhere, some very weird pictures on the walls."

Alek paled a bit and Ashe cracked open his eye sadly. This didn't sound good. "Antonio, I need you to tell me what he painted. It's important." Antonio nodded and quickly described the images. Alek grew a bit paler, causing Ashe to sigh.

"And then there was one picture... It was the largest out of them all. It was of a man with crazy hair, elongated in weird ways, grinning evilly, wearing a straightjacket." Ashe looked up in alarm. Him. Shit.

Alek was barely calm, "Keep me posted. And keep Lucius under supervision until I say otherwise. We'll come soon and help strengthen the shields around his mind. This could be bad." Antonio nodded and ended the call. Ashe stirred on Alek's chest.

"Love, you're messing with my basking. Calm down." Alek was distracted for a moment, "Your, 'basking'?"

Ashe rolled his eyes before snuggling closer. "Yes. Basking in you and your beauty and your bad vibes are ruining it. It'll be fine. We can go add some layers to the mental prison we created."

Alek facepalmed, "Ashe, He nearly broke MY mental defenses last night and He's not even in my head anymore!" Ashe, finally, look worried, "Is that what you were thrashing about for?! You should've told me!"

Alek smiled sheepishly, "I didn't want to worry you. Sorry love," he said at Ashe's glare. Ashe rolled his eyes, "So he nearly pierced the Citadel?"

Alek stared into the fire, "He broke into the last level. And then I found him inside, in one of the towers. He tried to use that to overload my defenses from the inside. If you hadn't woken me up when you did..." He quieted.

Ashe was quiet as the two contemplated this. Ashe spoke after a moment, "Well, I guess we'll need to strengthen your defenses first, then find the connection between you two." The immortal sighed, "And there goes my morning."

Alek rolled his eyes, "And pray tell, what had you planned on doing?" Ashe peered up at him through his bangs, "Basking for a while longer. Then getting you in the shower and doing wicked things." He smirked, "Then I figured a nice stroll around the nearby village would be fun."

Alek shook his head with a laugh, "Guess we'll just have to do that some other time. Now come on love," He said, picking up Ashe bridal style. Ashe yelped softly at the sudden shift. Alek smiled at his boyfriend, "We got work to do."

Harry walked quickly back to his dorm. Father wouldn't do that would he? He loved him! ...But look what happened to Draco! But his father didn't seem to love the blond that much. Father loved Harry.

...Right?

"Oof!" The ground filled his vision. He blinked, and looked up to see who it was he ran into. "Oh, I'm sorry-! Oh! Harry!" The cheerful voice of his older sister came down. She pulled him up and quickly checked him over, "You alright? Everything intact? No scratches or bruises?"

He rolled his eyes as Rachael began mothering him, a habit she seemed to have picked up concerning him and Veritas. "I'm fine Rachael! I'm not expecting some sort of Spanish Inquisition every time I fall!" Rachael rolled her eyes at this. Trust Harry to say something like that.

"Are you sure you're okay though? You must've had something pretty deep to think about to run into me. Normally your pretty attentive!" She pondered, "Though I am pretty silent. Hunting and all that... Hmmm..."

She was watching Harry and saw some emotion flicker through his eyes. Fear? Worry? Hmm... "Play any pranks yet?"

The question caught him off guard and Harry tried not to sag from the relief. Apparently she wasn't onto him, or his mounting fears. After all, the Headmaster did mention that that'd be a bad idea to let them know at this point.

"No! Come on, it's only the first day sis! Why would I be pulling pranks?!" He said, actually surprised that was what she thought was up. At least, that's what he hoped she thought was up.

Rachael grinned, "Guess I'm just used to hearing Antonio rant about Lucius and his antics. Luce likes to go wild at the start of the year and it drives Antonio crazy."

Harry chuckled a bit at that; he had heard of some of the things his older brother had done and they were hilarious. He looked at his sister, "You know what he's planning for this year?"

She shrugged, "Nope, no idea at all. Don't normally, though I always get to find out. Antonio needs a shoulder to cry on and with Father busy with dealing with the rascal, I'm the only one." Rachael paused for a moment, "Well, technically he could talk to Ashe, but... I have a feeling he wouldn't like that."

Harry nodded in agreement. Ashe was nice enough (even if it was a bit unnerving that a hundred year old looks a couple years older than him), but there were a few things that he lacked character wise. One being patience for anyone other than Father. The other his short temper. Bad combo when you want a shoulder to cry on.

"Wait, why are you here Rachael?" Harry asked, puzzled. Normally she was out hunting at this time of year, trying to get the last few prizes she could before the season was over. She smiled, "I'm working here this year! Making sure you and Veritas stay out of trouble," she lightly teased.

Harry's eyes widened. She was here to watch him?! No, Father wasn't after him! He probably just wanted to make sure they were safe. But, but, what about what the Headmaster said?! He couldn't trust Rachael! I need to talk to Veritas, he suddenly realized. Veritas wouldn't lie to him. He never could!

"Hey Harry, what happened to Schlange? Normally he's always with you," Rachael asked suddenly. Harry gasped and took off like a shot; he'd forgotten about Schlange! Crap!

Rachael chuckled as he ran off. Her mood quickly darkened as she thought about their conversation. Her little brother seemed off, acting weird. Like he was afraid of getting caught for something... Hmmm, what could it be?

"Ow!" Ashe yelped as an incoming Raven pecked him on the head. He grabbed it by the neck, it squawking, "Bloody bird!"

Arms wrapped around him, calming him, "What've we talked about love?" Ashe breathed deeply, calming himself. He let go of the bird, which quickly flew off to the sill of the nearby window. Ashe gave Alek a small smile.

"Don't let my rage get the better of me. I know," he said sadly, then growled, "But that damned bird pecks me every bloody time it sees me!" He said angrily, rubbing the spot it had pecked.

Alek laughed, "Well, you aren't exactly the kindest to it either love, you can't exactly blame it can you?" Ashe glared at his boyfriend, "I can and I will. It needs to stop!"

Alek laughed, shaking his head as he walked over to the bird, "Hey there little guy. Did bad little Ashe hurt you?" "Hey!" Ashe said pouting, "You'd think you love those things more than me!"

"Jealous?" Alek said with a raised eyebrow. Ashe simply snorted at that and turned away, nose in the air. Alek rolled his eyes and grabbed the letter from the bird's leg before feeding it.

Three more squawks came from the sky and Alek looked up and saw the other three Ravens coming in. He took their letters and feed them. They then went happily to their nests. One squawked at Ashe, who stuck his tongue out childishly.

Alek laughed at his antics, settling down on the couch next to him. Ashe took one of the letters, "Who's this?" Alek began opening one, "They're the different major factions responding to my descision to reconvene the council again."

"Ah,". Ashe said as Alek opened the first letter. He cleared his throat and read aloud.

Dear Alek Sharp,

Glad to finally hear from you again. It's always nice to recieve mail from you using this obsolete pigeon mail (and don't tell me you don't have a phone, I know for a fact you've called others before). Maybe you should talk with us more *hint hint*. Last we heard from you is when Antonio was looking up a rave location back during the International School Quidditch Tournament for Lucius. How did that go anyways? Not much into Quidditch, I like lacrosse better in all honesty.

Anyways, glad you're finally doing something about the situation. France isn't anywhere as bad as England, but us wolves are still having trouble with work. My pack is one of the few groups of werewolves still running large enterprises. After Voldemort (I refuse to use the Brits ridiculous acronyms) tried to kill Muggles and the Light, it's been getting bad everywhere. We will see you at the Council.

Sincerely,

Ryker Black

Lycanthrope, Alpha of the Dusk Pack

CEO of Lunar Entertainment

Ps: Tell Harry and Veritas Ben says hi

Pps: And tell Daichi that I don't need to wear shoes! He won't shut up!

The two chuckled as they finished reading the wolf's letter. It had been an ongoing arguement between Ryker and Daichi about the Alpha's hatred of shoes. They had thought that the two had stopped arguing about it by now, but apparently not.

"Anyways," Ashe said as he read another letter, "The Dark Phoenixes will be attending. They hate to admit it but their method of isolation may be saving them, but none of their Dark brethren of other species."

"That's good," Alek said as he read the Warlock's letter, "I was worried about wether or not they would accept our invitation. They technically left the Council after the last time, but it's good to know they have reconsidered their position on this whole issue."

Ashe nodded, reaching for the last letter. He looked the envelope over curiously, "Who is this from Alek? I haven't seen this type if parchment before. And believe me, after living as an immortal for a century or two, I know my parchment."

His boyfriend smiled as he took the letter, "Ah, this is a special letter. I sent a request to the Dark Elves to come." Ashe gasped as Alek opened the letter. The Elves hadn't been seen in hundreds of years, nearly a thousand years, since the Dark Ages. To be able to communicate with them was monumental!

Alek read it solemnly and Ashe eagerly awaited his response. Alek sighed and set the letter down. "They are sending a single ambassador to the meeting. When they left, they settled in a new dimension away from our world. They do not wish to get involved with out problems. I had hoped our relationship would've convinced them to show some interest, but..."

Alek sighed and Ashe agreed. The Council carried a lot of weight behind it, but if it had added the Dark Elves... Oh, well. They couldn't change the Elves' minds no matter how much they wanted to unfortunately.

Ashe stood up, "Well, we should head over to Durmstrang. We've strengthened your defenses, but we do need to help Lucius out." Alek smiled up at him as Ashe helped him up, "Thanks love."
