Wow it's been forever since I updated this one. Sorry about that.

It just didn't click until now.

Staring for a moment in abject horror, Kakashi tried to wrap his mind around what he had just stumbled upon. Naru- his bride to be... She'd been attacked. That man; he gnashed his teeth together as a sudden overwhelming wave of rage swelled in his chest and his fangs lengthened until they protruded fro his lips like gleaming ivory sabers as he turned abruptly on his heel and moved to the corpse of the human- Oh god he wished he had killed him more slowly.

He wanted to breath life back into him all so that he could torture and kill him again and again and again for this grievous insult to Naru's honor. It was no less than the fool deserved. But again there was no time for that. Besides it was pointless seeing as he had murdered him. But he had no clue how far the mortal had gotten before he had killed him.

Shaking his head slightly as if to clear it of all negative emotions, Kakashi then took several calming breaths so that his rage- while still there, simmering just below the surface of his skin- was more tightly controlled as he made his way back over to Naru and after using a small spell to send her into a dreamless sleep so that he could check her for any serious wounds, began his slow and time consuming work.

All in all it took him about forty five minutes to determine that Naru's life wasn't in any immediate danger. After all she had only sustained a concussion a busted lip, some scrapes and bruises. All of which could be easily taken care of with a healing spell or two. Laying one hand across Naru's forehead and another on her bruised and scraped up cheek, he whispered the healing spell while trying to convey warmth and safety to the unconscious woman.

Trying to tell her without having her awaken that she was safe. He would protect her from further harm whether it be from humans, goblins or other seelie beings. Once that was done, Kakashi slipped his arms under Naru's slight body, frowning a bit as he lifted her because her weight barely registered with him. She felt so small and delicate that he might as well have been holding a child in his arms.

And if not for the curves he'd seen earlier before covering her up- he would have believed her to be nothing but a child. Glancing down at the top of her head, his mis matched eyes just a little sad as he thought about the first time they had met as children and how her most recent experience seemed to have been dealt to her by fate- it made him more than just a bit saddened to know that almost nothing in her life had changed.

Yes she had finished school, grown up, had friends- but she was still essentially a victim.

But that would change. He vowed to himself as he tightened his grip on her a fraction, almost fearing that if he didn't hold onto her tightly that she just might disappear and he would never find her again. Walking through shadows and under dim lights until he reached the nearest portal, he glanced down at her one last time and felt his heart jump up into his throat when he saw that her eyes were open slightly and she was staring at him from under her lashes.

How the hell- He wondered curiously.

Her eyes were still the loveliest hue of amethyst purple that he had ever seen. Truly they were. So vivid and unique, much like the woman herself. He tried his best to give her a small smile before whispering in a silken tone, "Don't worry. I've got you. Go on back to sleep." But she didn't close her eyes. Nor did she blink.

It would seem that his bride was internally debating on whether or not to trust him. Which was fine.

If he had ever found himself in her situation he wouldn't have trusted him either. Especially when he tended to come across like an ax murderer to many. But in the end, her wounds and the mental exhaustion that came with them must have won out. Her eyes slipped closed and moments later she was asleep again.

And when next she awoke...

She would his queen.
