*Snicker*

One would only hope that she has the common sense too kick Kakashi's ass.

(********************************************************************************************************************************)

The moment Kakashi was home, he wandered through the drafty labyrinth like halls of the palace where he had grown up. Blending himself with the shadows here and there as he went. His mind automatically going to things he would need to do to ensure Naru's safety and wellbeing in his world of unknown dangers. He knew that one of the first things he would have to do both lengthen her life and strengthen her body.

There were spells, long lost to human alchemists and mage's that not only lengthened one's life but strengthened the mind, the bones and organs. Acting like a shield of sorts. So when one underwent a possible siege and was wounded...the spells would kick in automatically and prevent fatal wounds and keep the mind from shattering under intense stress.

They were spells that Kakashi himself had found and practiced as a child. Secretly hoping that perhaps he could heal the damage done to his mother by the sick fae lords that had broken her. It had taken him a long time to understand that there was no longer anything really left to save. And it had taken him even longer to let that fact go and let his mother find her peace.

But that by no means meant that he could ignore the fact that Naru may be placed in the same situation at some point. He hoped that wasn't the case. Hell he even prayed that wasn't the case. He could appoint guards and such after the fact.

But still... He would use the spells as his main precautionary measures. At this exact moment it was just one of the few things he could do to protect her. Reaching his bedroom, Kakashi kicked the door open wide so that he could step through and once inside he walked across the spacious room to where his bed was and very gently laid Naru down on it then turned and went back across the room and shut the heavy door and locked it so that no one could come barging in, freaking out, when they smelled human in the castle.

With that done he sighed quietly, his shoulders heaving slightly as he then turned and braced his back against the door. Today had been one of the worst days in his life. Losing his father. Finding the girl he'd played with as a child in such a state- And he was starting to get a gut feeling that the next few days would only get harder once he held the wedding and introduced Naru to his people as his Queen.

After all aside from his father many of the seelie, goblins, and so on expected him to marry within their race. To produce a pure bloodline to the Goblin throne. One look at Naru and they would all know that he was shunning their ideals and traditions for a mere human girl. They would seek to hurt her. And probably succeed in many cases.

But he would make it clear when he introduced her to his court of lords and ladies that any who dared to lay their hands on his bride, would see the full power of his goblin side.

He would bare his fangs and draw his sword.

Yes. He'd make it very, very clear that touching her meant war with the one seelie that could actually destroy them. Once that was done, she should be safe. Should being to operative word.

Pushing away from the door he moved over to the bed and stared down at her for a moment, noting how well she had grown. She had been a beautiful child. But now- Now she was a stunningly lovely young woman.

In the years they had been separated Kakashi had only seen Naru when he had gone to the human world or through his mirror when he had spied on her. Wanting to know if she was safe, and doing well, and happy with her life. But never in any of those instance's had he been this close to her.

Close enough to reach out and touch her like he had as a child.

And perhaps that was the problem. He hadn't expected being so close to her to impact him like this. He felt shaken, like someone had just punched him in the gut yet at the same time he felt nervous and awkward. His breathing was unsteady. His knees felt weak...and then through all of that jumbled mess there was the peculiar feeling of peace that stole over his senses. Wiping away everything unpleasant that had happened today.

Soul mate's son, His recalled his father explaining to him once. A soul mate can wipe the slate clean. Take every bad thing that you've ever done or experienced in life and heal you in ways you never knew you needed healing. If you're ever lucky enough to find yours...hold onto her. Hold onto her as if you're very life depends upon it.

Why? Kakashi recalled asking, earning a smile and a pat on the shoulder from his father before he answered.

Because son, everyone is born in life with a soul mate- but so very precious few ever manage to find them.

Sakumo had then gone on to list possible ways of finding one's soul mate, but by then Kakashi had stuck his nose in a book and wasn't really listening. Still if Naru was in fact his soul mate- well he found the idea (while a little bit far fetched) to be a fantastic one. But a nice one nevertheless.

Running his index finger along the curve of one of Naru's cheeks, Kakashi smiled a bit to himself as the clock on the far wall chimed twelve. Turning his head slightly to look at it he blinked in surprise. Wondering just how long he'd stood there lost in his own thoughts. An hour? Two? Well whatever, He thought. The witching hour was when his power was at it's strongest and that was perhaps exactly what he needed right now as he concentrated a bit and finished healing Naru of the left over bruises and scrapes before really getting down to business.

The first thing he needed to do was those spells and while they wove their way through Naru's body he would set himself to cleaning the dirt and grime from her body and hair and then dress her in one of his shirts. Then before he went to bed he would dig out a nice engagement ring for her along with some other stuff (one of which would be her wedding gown) plus a few accessories to go with it.

And then lastly, before he crawled into bed beside her- he would weave protective spells and barriers so that no one could enter the room unless he bid them too.
