To stand by him
Hey happy new year! Finally 2014 and I'm really excited! Hope you had a great time with your family and friends.
Enjoy
Disclaimer: Still not mine.
"He just passed out?" Chris asked me, we were sitting in a booth with Teddy and Gordie, Vern had been out with Marcie but that didn't surprise me, what did was that Teddy had joined us. He had been causing trouble for the past week with his buddies and I didn't think he would be too in on hanging with us, since Chris and I couldn't exactly do much.
Teddy had been way too interested in finding out what happened to us though. Word had spread about Chris getting beat, myself following shortly after. No one knew the reasons that we were beaten, Ace had been clear to say we had pissed him off, but not what about.
I was the one that had described what happened, leaving the biggest part of the deal out of the story. Teddy had his heart in the right place but he also had the biggest mouth in Castle Rock.
"Yeah, he didn't remember a thing this morning. Even asked me how I got home."
"Damn he really was wasted!" Teddy laughed, slamming his hand on the table. I nodded.
"Told him the same story except I brought up that he had grabbed my neck." I shrugged.
"Even if he does believe you this time might want to keep away from him for as long as possible." Chris said. No shit Chris, I wasn't stupid enough to go having conversations with my dad at this moment.
"So what happens now?" Gordie asked, I was sure he knew about everything, he had asked barely any questions and he and Chris were best friends. Chris Probably told him everything in a way to get advice since Gordie was so smart.
I wonder if Gordie ever told him not to mess around with Ace.
"I really don't know, Chris wants me to avoid Ace as much as possible and stay inside my house but. . ." I started Gordie seemed to get it.
"But after what happened with your dad you can't." he clarified.
"We stay clear of Ace until his court date." Chris said taking a sip of his coke. "it won't be to long, what a week now?" He asked.
"Actually it got moved down." Teddy said.
"What?!"
"yeah, another Case had to be moved up instead of his."
"Well how long?"
"Maybe an extra week." Chris huffed and leaned back in the booth angrily.
"You still have the key right?" Gordie asked, I nodded remembering the key that was taped to the underside of a drawer in my dresser. "You should throw it in the river or something." he suggested. I had never really thought of that, it didn't seem too logical though, the key was something Ace wanted and although he had beaten me in an attempt to have it, I realized how important it was to him. He had beaten me, and Chris and still didn't get it, so now we had something over him. And I liked having that over him. "Or Hand it over to the police." I looked at Chris, he too didn't seem to happy with the thought, he wanted to keep it as well, if Ace had gotten it from the cops once he could get it again.
"I don't think so, I wouldn't trust it with anyone else and I wouldn't trust just throwing it somewhere." I said playing with the straw in my drink.
"Maybe he won't want it." Teddy said, we all gave him a confused look so he continued. "Well, think about it. If he wanted it to get Autumn back, and now she knows and he still don't have her. Maybe he thinks the key won't do anything anymore." Teddy wasn't too good at explaining things, but he did have an interesting look on the situation. Ace wanted that key to get her back, but Autumn knew what he was planning and still didn't want him.
Autumn hadn't seen us today and I didn't really blame her for not coming to look for us, she seemed mighty pissed at Chris. More so I think she didn't want Ace to see her talking to us.
"Maybe." I mumbled in response to Teddy.
"Doubt it, this ain't really about her anymore you guys pissed him off. Denied him what he wanted its almost personal now." Leave it to Gordie to make a bad situation seem worse.
"Well damn it." Chris sighed taking another Drink then took my hand in his lacing our fingers and giving it a light squeeze.
"I know lets all run away!" Teddy declared, I rolled my eyes. I hadn't thought Teddy had been drinking but now I was almost sure he had been.
"Teddy we can't run away together." I said.
"Sure we can! We'll go to vegas with your poker skills we'll own Nevada in a week." he said way too happily.
"So I would do all the work?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him.
"Gordie could write out our fake I.D's he's smart enough for that, I can be the life of the party and get people to love us. And Chris. . . . .well Chris can lie! No he can steal! He can steal a room key if we have to." I felt Chris tense beside me. "No money need to be stolen Chris, Anna will take care of that." he said grinning proudly.
"What's Wrong?" I asked grinning at Teddy and his odd however completely possible plan.
"Nothing." he whispered still glaring at Teddy. I would make a note to ask him about it later.
"It's full proof! She can be all of ours wife." Teddy said. I laughed and Gordie, who had been trying not to laugh, snorted loudly.
"I'm not gonna marry you." I said pointedly still smiling however.
"You will if we have a baby." Chris leaned over and smacked him over the head. "Ow! We can adopt if you can't make one then!" He snapped trying, and failing, to glare at Chris. Chris had now cracked a smile at his idiotic friend.
"Hey." A voice said beside us, I turned my head to look at Nick who was standing beside our table.
"Hi." I said cautiously. He looked awkward standing there alone without a friend or Autumn
"What are you talking about?" he asked casually.
"Making Babies." Teddy answered.
"What?"
"Nothing." I replied rolling my eyes.
"Why are you here?" Chris asked rather rudely. I elbowed him telling him to shut it but he didn't. "You come to threaten her?"
"No." he said plainly staring at me.
"Then what?"
"I can see Ace got good with you." Nick said ignoring Chris. I nodded, not sure of the reason for this conversation.
"Where's Autumn?" I asked.
"I asked her to stay in the car." he replied, I stared at him for a moment. He was definitely tough looking and I really wondered who would win in a fight against him and Ace, skin on skin no weapons or anything.
"So you here to beat her too?" Gordie asked glaring at him.
He put his hand on the table and slid something to me, it was the ring. I looked up at him, had he come to make an exchange to get the key back? Was it the wrong ring?
I picked it up letting it lay in my palm, it was a nice ring, and the reminder of who I had taken it from came crashing down and I thought about running out of there with it. Sadly I wouldn't do that, I couldn't anyways, not being next to the wall and Chris bordering me in.
"I ain't gonna beat someone that does that for me." He said I looked up at him with a question in my eyes. "It was my moms." he confirmed. "I gotta have respect for someone that doesn't dangle something and then takes it away." he said.
"So what's this about?" I asked sliding the ring back over to him he picked it up and put it gingerly back in his pocket.
"You have the key, and I know Ace wants it." he said. "But I want to tell you that, I'm gonna protect it like it was in my own possession again."
"That right?" Chris asked Nick glanced at him and rolled his eyes.
"I get it chambers you don't trust me, but guess what. You're girl there did something right and now she has my protection. I got too much respect for her now."
"Autumn told you to help me didn't she?" I asked grinning. He shrugged his own smile coming on his face.
"She might have said something to influence my choice, but I decided this my own." he defended, I shrugged and took a drink my from my glass of water.
"You're offering your protection?" Teddy asked.
"Yeah, I ain't gonna body guard you or any of that shit but I will make sure that Ace stays away from you as much as I can."
"Thanks Nick." I said, and I meant it. He didn't have to do anything, I had hustled him and left him embarrassed, he had a right to be mad even if I did leave him the ring.
Autumn I was sure said more to him then he is letting on, but no guy was about to tell someone their girl could control them in any way. Nick was a better person then Ace and I could tell that he was obviously a better choice then Ace however something still bothered me. Autumn seemed to be able to control him, they were obviously happy together but something seemed odd about the relationship. Autumn said she was over Ace and hated him and wanted nothing to do with him, yet she was involved in everything he did it seemed. The biggest thing her and Nick had in common was the hate they shared for Ace, and to me that brought up a good question. Were they dating each other to get back at Ace? Or had it started that way?
"I gotta go, just stay out of trouble." He said before flicking his collar up and leaving.
"So looks like you got protection." Teddy said.
"Looks like." I said.
"Still don't like him." Chris muttered I smiled and leaned up to kiss his cheek.
"Doesn't matter, hes offering to help us." I whispered.
"I guess." he slipped his hand from mine to drape it around my shoulders and pull me in for a kiss tightening his hold on me to deepen it.
"If you don't knock that off, soon you'll actually be making a baby." teddy said.
We couldn't help but laugh.
. . . .uh, not my best chapter but I needed it in there. I hope you liked it anyways.
Next will be Anna and Chris relationship stuff maybe a run in with a little trouble, just makes sense to me to have some down time after and big problem starts.
Anyways thank you so much for following and reviewing and all that 3
