To stand by Him

"TEDDY GET DOWN FROM THERE!" I screamed, it was no use though, he couldn't hear me, and even if he somehow did, he wasn't going to listen to me.

Chris had decided that it would be a good idea to go to a party tonight since last night was a little insane, and he just wanted to forget about it.

He was embarrassed by the story and almost crying, I didn't want to go considering it was a party at some guys house and everyone was invited, including kids I suspected lived on my street.

However I couldn't not go with Chris' logic that we needed to forget a bit about what was happening. My court letter was tucked underneath my dresser and even with Nick's protection was still on edge.

"Do it!" someone yelled.

"Don't do it!" I screamed back. Teddy was crazy, like a cat with nine lives he should have been dead by the crazy stunts he pulled. Tonight he had gotten into it with a view kid and the insults and putdowns led to this. Jumping off a roof into a pool.

That's how it was supposed to be, but Teddy said that he could do it riding on bike blindfolded.

The house was in fact two stories and the pool in ground but it was a good distance away from the house, not to mention only about six feet deep.

"Chris he's gonna get killed!" I said to him, he was looking up at Teddy with a smile on his face.

"What?" he yelled over the yelling crowd of kids.

"I Said he's gonna die!" I yelled back at him.

"Aw come on Anna, I don't think anything could kill that kid!" he laughed, I smacked his arm.

"What If he misses?!" I demanded, this was about relaxing and having a bit of fun, but I was even more tensed then before I came here watching some kid put on Teddy's blindfold.

"He won't miss!" He replied sliding his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into his side.

I wanted to scream at him that he didn't know that for sure, but Chris was at ease so why couldn't I? The bet was a good one, either one that chickened out had to run into the elderly home in the town over naked, and if they both did it, but one got father then the other then the loser had to pay the winner ten bucks.

I doubted Teddy had any cash so he had to do this.

Teddy looked to be smiling as he raised his arm up and gave a thumbs up to us.

"Yeah teddy!" Chris screamed to his old friend. Teddy readied himself placing his hands on the bike handles his feet firmly on the roof. The other kid, the view kid, was in the same attire but looked far more fidgety then Teddy on his bike.

"Five.. four.. three.. two.. one!" everyone yelled and down went the view kid, he did it, slowly but surly he flew from the roof and down into the pool, screaming the whole way down. He landed with a huge splash getting anyone within twenty feet including me and Chris.

There were some cheers, and some mummers of how 'I didn't think he'd do it.' The distance was marked, which was only a few feet from the edge of the pool.

Once the kid was pulled out of the water he was congratulated him, probably for even doing it.

"Beat that DuChamp!" Another boy yelled.

"He will!" Chris yelled back. A silence cut through the air, as Teddy shifted on the bike.

"Five. . .four. . . three. . . two . . .one!" Teddy sped off that roof and into the air, he too went screaming, but his screams were one of joy and excitement. he landed a foot from the other side of the pool, we all knew he was the winner.

Some kids jumped into the water with him after he came to the surface ripping off his blindfold.

I couldn't help but cheer for him.

"Teddy man you won!" Chris yelled pulling him into a hug quickly.

"there was doubt?" He asked sarcastically, grinning from ear to ear.

"Good Job Teddy." I said, without a hesitation he pulled me into a big hug.

"Eh that's Anna."

"Teddy get off, you're soaking wet!" pushing at his Chest Teddy laughed and then released me.

"Just checking how tense you are, and dang, you need to relax." He turned to Chris. "How come she isn't relaxed? You've been here for what an hour?"

"Hey, it's not my fault, she was scared watching you jump."
"I wasn't scared!" glaring at Chris he put his hands up at my words in mock defense.

Teddy was pulled away from us by the crowd and to collect his winnings.

Chris smiled at me. "I was not scared." I said again.

"Right." he looked around to see that everyone was getting back into routine now, dancing, talking and laughing. Suddenly a kid stumbled out from the crowd, ramming into Chris' back. I knew him, his name was Kenny.

"Chris, you got to go check on Gordie." He said.

"Why whats wrong?" Chris asked furrowing his brows.

"They're hanging him from a tree." he said.

"Damn it, alright be right there." Chris said, then turned to me. "I'll be right back, go get a drink or something."

"You want me to come?" I asked, but he shook his head.

"Less people draws less attention, I don't think he wants an audience for this." I nodded, even though them hanging a kid from a tree would draw attention he had a point, it was better a girl didn't get into it.

Chris ran off with Kenny and I looked around. Being here, I didn't really have that many friends, people that I could start a conversation with at any moment. So I did as Chris suggested and looked for something to drink. A lot of people had drinks but I saw no where to get them.

I walked around for a bit, having to jump out of the way from people running around and move around others dancing.

I finally saw a table with some punch on it. I walked up to the table and gabbed an empty cup.

"You looking to forget?" A voice asked, I turned my head to see a boy smiling at me.

"huh?" he nodded to the ladle in my hand.

"You looking to forget something awful?"

"Uh no?" I said cautiously.

"Then I suggest you take from the other bowl, cause a couple drinks from that and you'll be so soused you won't remember your name in the morning." he laughed, I quickly dropped the ladle and grabbed the one in the other bowl. "Unless you just want to have fun."
"I don't drink." I replied pouring some of the red liquid into my cup.

"Wise choice, I'm Jimmy." I took a quick sip from my cup.

"Anna."
"Eh, I know who you are." he smiled, he was okay looking in his own way, not gorgeous but not hideous, he had sandy blonde hair, brown eyes pointy features and above average sized nose. "You took my buddy for some money a while back."

"Oh, Sorry." I shrugged.

"No it's fine, he needs to be put in his place from time to time, he's a cocky bastard, kinda like Chris." I raised an eyebrow at that. Did this kid know who I was or heard of me? Because his comment suggested the latter.

"You know I'm dating Chris right?" I questioned taking another drink, it wasn't the best a little bitter, and a bad after taste but I didn't expect much from it, the probably forgot to put an sugar in it.

"I know, I mean the cocky part, not the bastard part." I didn't answer, Chris was cocky in a way but I wasn't about to agree with him. "Where is he anyway?"

"Had something to take care of." I shrugged leaning against the table, Jimmy needed no invitation to join me apparently.

"huh, so how is he these days?"
"Why?"
"I'm just trying to start a conversation, no need to get hostel." he said his face told me he was upset and confused, I sighed, I was being crabby and I had no reason to be he was just being nice.

"Sorry, just don't trust too many people ya know?"
"but you trust Chambers?" he asked raising an eyebrow.

"Look, I'll sit here and talk maybe even be pleasant but leave Chris out of this!" I snarled at him, he at least had the decency to look sheepish.

"Sorry, habit I guess, he isn't the most like person you know."

"Or the most understood so shut your mouth about him."

"Alright alright." he put his hands up in surrender. I took a long drink and kept quiet, seemed like he didn't have much to talk about other then Chris cause we were silent for a few minutes, me drinking and him standing there.

"Want some more?" he asked, I nodded and let him take my cup filling it for me.

"Hey Anna, Gordie wants to leave soon but-" Chris was coming up behind me but stopped for a second. "You been alone all this time?" he asked.

"No Jim-" I stopped turning around in a circle, Jimmy was gone, my cup filled and on the table. "No, I've had my drink." I joked quickly. He smiled softly and took my hand.

"Like I said Gordie want's to go soon, they're bugging him pretty bad and I'm gonna walk him home but I wanted to dance with you first."

"Okay." I picked up my drink and finished it quickly in a big gulp and followed him.

He was grinning from ear to ear as he stopped and turned to me, Chris placed his hands on my hips. A country song was playing, one I have no recollection of, because all I thought about was Chris. The smiled on his face, lighting up his eyes, the way his body moved awkwardly yet perfectly with the music, and the way his gaze didn't leave my face.

Although I could make out how he looked, he seemed a little blurry to me. . .

he tugged me closer to him but with his force I stumbled right into him, tripping on my feet, I think.

"Whoa you okay?" he asked laughing at me. I was pretty clumsy so I just shrugged it off and smiled nodding. After a few more minutes of dancing I tripped again, this time on nothing and Chris had to tighten his arms around me so I wouldn't fall. "Okay I better get you out of here before you hurt yourself and someone else." he laughed then took my hand pulling me off the dance floor and to the front gate.

"You gonna be okay here?" Gordie asked me, he had been leaning against the back fence waiting for us.

"Y-yeah." I replied awkwardly.

"I'll be back soon." Chris leaned down and kissed me, jumping back a few seconds after our lips touched. "What have you been drinking?" he touched his lips with his fingers almost looking disgusted.

"Punch, not very good punch either."

"Whats wrong with you?" Gordie asked, pushing up off the fence.

"Nothing!" I laughed, "Really I'm fine!" Chris and Gordie gave me odd looks which I found hilarious so I started to laugh.

"Anna stay here okay?" Chris asked. I nodded my head violently. "I'm gonna be back and then We'll see how you feel, alright?" I just nodded again.

"And don't drink anything else." Gordie warned walking out of the gate with Chris. I rolled my eyes, they weren't the boss of me, if I wanted to drink I would drink what I wanted.

I crossed my arms and leaned against the fence while a couple alternated from kissing to talking a few feet away and the rest of the party was going on.

I was just standing there muttering about how Chris and Gordie couldn't tell me what to do when Jimmy came forward, a blurry looking Jimmy.

"Hey Anna." he greeted.

"Hi." I hiccuped he grinned.
"You doing okay?"

"yes."
"Where's Chris?" I started to giggle again thinking of Chris and Gordies faces.

"He's walking Gordie home."

"A interesting, so you thirsty."
"Yes, yes I am Thirsty, I want more punch." I started to walk away but he called out to me laughing.

"You can have mine." he held out his cup to me and I smiled taking it from him and talking a drink, it didn't taste as bad anymore, in fact it almost didn't taste like anything to me.

"They finally put sugar in this?' I asked.

"Yeah I think." he grinned.

"Good! Cause th-that other stuff was nasty." I yelled.

"Anna you're yelling." he shushed.

"I am?" when he nodded I began to laugh again spilling some of my drink onto my shirt as I doubled over. After I calmed down I started to drink some more, chugging the punch and throwing the cup on the ground.

"Now I miss Chris." I pouted resting my head back on the fence.

"Wanna catch up with him?" Jimmy asked raising a blurry eyebrow at me. I thought about it for a moment and agreed, he walked out the gate and I stumbled after him. I didn't know where I was going everything was fuzzy and spinning. Colours were merging together and I couldn't read any street signs, but it was almost as if I knew what was happening, and couldn't get myself to walk straight.

"This way" Jimmy said, I followed him for a few more steps and looked around.

"Chris isn't here." I said crossing my arms.

"I'm sure he'll be here soon."

"But I want chris!" I snapped at him.

"Well.. ." he began to walk closer to me, backing me up against the wall. I remember where we were, in an alley, between a laundry mat and pet store. "I'm here." he smiled sliding an arm up over my head.

"But you're Jimmy, not Chris." I slurred out my tongue felt huge in my mouth and nothing was working.

"That's right, and I'm sure I can make you feel way better then Chris." he was very close now, his breath hit my neck and sent an eerie feeling down my neck.

"Get away!" I managed lazily pushing at his chest.

"Come on Winston, just a few minutes that's all I need." he smiled leaning into me.

"I said get away, you're not Chris." I had enough of my mind to know that this kid was trying to seduce me and I knew that he wasn't Chris. There was no way I wanted him to touch me, but with the way I was I wasn't sure I could stop him.

"I'll make you forget about him." with my weakness on my side he was able to slam my back into the wall, and I hit my head as his lips forcfully pushed onto mine, bruising mine and invading my mouth with his tongue, swirling around until I was gagging and coughing. I couldn't get him off so I screamed into his mouth, his hands gripping onto my shirt.

A small rip of cloth could be heard and I knew he was ripping my shirt in his hands in an attempt to take it off.

"Fuck stop it will yah!?" He demanded pushing me harder against the brick wall.

"How about you get the fuck away from her before I kill you?" A voice demanded. In a second Jimmy was ripped from me and I spit on the ground immediately.

"What the-" Jimmy didn't get to finish before a punch was delivered to his jaw.

"I said get the fuck away from her before I kill ya, you're lucky I ain't Chris or I would. But don't be surprised if he comes and visits you for messing with his girl now beat it you little shit!"

Jimmy was running away rubbing his jaw swearing loudly and promising that he'd get the other guy back.

A hand was on my shoulder and I looked up to see Autumn smiling at me.

"Damn Anna, you okay?" she asked.

"y-yeah."

"Fuck kid how much did you Drink? I can smell the alcohol from here." another voice asked coming from the shadows. It was Nick and I smiled at him shrugging my mind a little clearer now from the sudden event.

"non, at least I don't think I did. . ."

"Bull shit you wreak of vodka and what is that raspberries?" I looked towards the guy who had pulled Jimmy off of me. The one that had technically saved me. I squinted his face blurry it took me a few minutes to really recognize him and my brain to settle a bit.

"Eyeball?"
