Hello guys sorry for taking too long, with school and working on other stories I kind of left it off, so I'm glad you're liking the story and I have to clear up a few things
At first, I said that Maddy and Mateo would date, yeah that's not the case anymore, it developed into a close friendship so I want to keep it that way
Secondly, there will be smut, not too much but there will be, remember that Quinn didn't let anyone close too much like that so don't expect every chapter to have it, and if it has I'm going to separate it so you can skip it if you wish
Third, the moment in the episode where Quinn talks to Finn after he convinces them to quit Cheerios and kissed him, that's going to happen, Glee is a series with great moments that went nowhere, and I think that if Quinn cheats at least like a little, it creates a great storyline that you will influence in it,
Quinn will cheat but if they remain together, that will be up to you, I have two ways I can do this, one where they remain as a couple and one where they break up but they're still endgame like Finn and Rachel
And also, I feel like I have to clarify this because is going to feel like a bashing, Finn as a character is awful, I love Corey may god rest his soul, but Finn, he's the dumbest character in Glee and not in a good way, and most of what he does is tied to the people around Mateo, so my oc will react accordingly
Also, the conversation in Spanish, if you like I can put the translation at the end, I mean they don't affect much to the story I just wanted to give some realism to the characters, I mean they're supposed to be Latin American, born in Mexico or Puerto Rico, feels weird if they don't speak Spanish

Chapter 4
"Come on now Mateo, you can do this, just walk the steps," Mateo whispered to himself as he stood in front of a small and cozy house "You can do it," Mateo said as he walked to the porch and rang the doorbell
"No, I can't, shit this was a mistake," Mateo said to himself as he started to walk away but then the door opened up and Mateo sighed as he turn around
"Mat?" Mateo saw a petite old woman in her forties looking at him in shock
"Hey Mama Martinez, it's been a while hasn't it?" Mateo said nervously
"Look at you son, you're all grown up," The woman said as she put her hands forward "Come on give Mama a hug," Mama Martinez said as she hugged Mateo to death
"I'm sorry it took me this long to come here, I just couldn't bring myself to walk over here," Mateo said as the woman made him enter the house
"It's alright kiddo, here let me make you something to eat, you're very skinny, I'm certain that those idiots in Juvee didn't give you enough to eat," Mama Martinez said as Mateo sighed
"I've known you long enough to not protest about this," Mateo whispered as he took off his shoes and enter the house "Mama Martinez I'm not hungry you don't have to do this," Mateo said but sighed when he saw the woman taking out a big casserole
"Sente-se Mateo," Mama Martinez said forcing Mateo to take a seat "So, what brings you here Mat? After all this time?" She asked as she started preparing a soup for him
"I came here to say sorry, I just couldn't bring myself to do it," Mateo said putting his hands on the table "I should've told him no to going to that party," Mateo said
"Mateo, I know how my son was, do you believe you could've convinced him otherwise?" Mama Martinez said as she placed a bowl of soup in front of Mateo
"No, not really, I still should've tried harder or I should've not entered that car, or done something else," Mateo said looking at the bowl of soup
"Mateo, it's okay, Bruno is in a better place now, there's no need to punish you more than you already have," Mama Martinez said and Mateo looked at her with a pained look in his eyes
"But," Mateo tried to say but Mama Martinez stopped him
"But nothing Mateo, what would Bruno say if he was here huh?" She asked as Mateo smiled
"He would probably call me an idiot or something," Mateo said as he started playing with the soup "Man I miss him," Mateo said
"I miss him too Mat, but he wouldn't want us to be tied to the past, to our mistakes, you need to move forward, even if it's hard," Mama Martinez said
"I know, I know," Mateo said taking a sip from the soup "Dammit, it's still so fucking good," Mateo said and then winced as Mama Martinez hit his head
"Cuida esa boca Mateo," She said as Mateo rubbed his head in pain "So, tell me what's new in your life?" She asked and Mateo smiled
"Actually, that was another reason I wanted to come here, I wanted to know if you still open your restaurant?" Mateo asked and Mama Martinez smiled
"I do, who's the special lady?" Mama Martinez asked cheekily and Mateo raised an eyebrow
"What do you mean who's the special lady?" Mateo asked nervously
"Don't play dumb Mat, the last and only girl you've taken there was Jenny, and before you ask why, you told me that it was a special place for you and only a special girl deserved to go there," Mama Martinez said
Mateo sighed and a small smile formed on his face as he looked at the woman across from him "Her name is Quinn, and she's very beautiful," Mateo said as he started to tell her everything that had happened since he got out
McKinley High sometime later
"Hey Emma, can I come in?" Mateo asked standing in the doorway of Ms. Pillsbury's office
"Hi, sure take a seat Mateo, what can I do for you?" Emma asked as Mateo took a seat in front of her
"I came here to give you my journal so that you could read it," Mateo said as he handed her his journal
"Are you sure?" Emma asked as she looked at the journal
"I got the need to drink again, yesterday after I visited Bruno's mom, I had to drive around the city without any direction for two hours just to cool off," Mateo said rubbing his face "I-I don't want to live like that, especially since my life is going good right now," Mateo said leaning back into his seat
"Mateo, you didn't drink, and that's okay," Emma said as Mateo looked at her in curiosity "Working step by step Mateo, that's how we gain control, take a breather, forget everything for a while, and live, sing, dance, love, that's what you need to forget that craving, because it will come back again, and next time you'll be ready," Emma said grabbing Mateo's journal
Mateo chuckled and look at Emma with a smirk on his face "That's deep, did you practice it or did you just come up with that?" He asked and Emma snorted
"My sponsor told me that, so you could say I practice it," Emma said as Mateo chuckled
"Well, it works, you sound high though," Mateo said and then noticed a particular pamphlet on the shelves "What to do when you're flying high?" Mateo read out loud as he grabbed the pamphlet with a cartoonish girl with marihuana plants for eyes "What's this?" Mateo asked with a chuckle
"Oh, last year we had an invasion of Marihuana on the school, they call it the chronic lady," Emma explained
"She's still around?" Mateo asked in curiosity and then when Emma raised an eyebrow he coughed into his hand "I mean, who is the chronic lady?" Mateo asked cheekily and Emma sighed
"Anyway, I made that flyer and gave them to the students, just in case they needed them," Emma said and Mateo look at the pamphlet
"You made this?" Mateo asked in curiosity
"Yeah, I make all of my pamphlets," Emma said pointing at the several pamphlets in her office
"Oh wow, that's a lot of them," Mateo said looking around and then he looked at his watch "I should get going, I keep getting to Glee club late and I don't want to piss off Schue, or Rachel," Mateo said standing up "Yeah, Rachel would be worse," Mateo whispered so Emma couldn't hear him "I'm taking these with me," Mateo said taking the weed pamphlet
"See you around Mateo," Emma said as Mateo smiled and head out of Emma's office
Mateo walked through the hallways of the high school until something caught his eyes and made him stop and double-take as he glared at the scene in front of him
In front of him two jocks were harassing a skinny kid wearing all black and a black jumper around him, the kid was on the ground with his hands over his head waiting for the jocks to go away
"Hey motherfuckers, leave him alone," Mateo said pushing one of the jocks away
The other jock stopped his friend from falling and Mateo quickly put himself off the bullied kid "You don't want to try this Lopez," Karosfky the Jock who Mateo had pushed said putting himself in front of Mateo
"Please, think you and humpy dumpty over there scare me?" Mateo asked sarcastically "Come one, give a reason Dave," Mateo said whispering at Karosfky, and the jock just twitched in annoyance and tapped the other jock on his shoulder
"Let's go, this is a waste of time," Karosfky said and the jocks just walked away without making any trouble
Mateo kept glaring at them until they went away and then turn around and help the kid in the lockers "You okay?" Mateo asked as the teen grabbed Mateo's hand
"Yeah, nothing I'm not used to," The teen said and Mateo frowned "I'm Tyler, thanks for that by the way," The teen said
"It was nothing," Mateo said "You know, the best way to stop them is to stand up to them," Mateo said and Tyler laughed
"You're kidding right?" Tyler asked sarcastically "Look I don't know you but this isn't a fucking eighties movie, the best way is to fade into the background and disappear," Tyler said
"Okay, but what about when there's nowhere to disappear?" Mateo asked as he puts a hand on Tyler's shoulder "No one deserves that, your dreams and ambitions don't deserve to fade out," Mateo said and Tyler shook his hand away
"You're right, but my secrets do, thank you for your help, but this is only high school it doesn't fucking matter," Tyler said as he walked away
Mateo sighed and dropped his hand as he felt a hand touch his back slowly "Don't be too hard on yourself Teo," Mateo heard Maddy's voice behind him "Andale que llegas tarde a tu club," Maddy said and Mateo look at her
"Me haces un favor?" Mateo asked her to make him a favor and she nodded waiting to hear what it is "Who is he?" Mateo asked and Maddy nodded
"Give me a week, I'll find out," She said as both Latin American teens walk away from each other
Mateo put his hands in his jacket pockets and enter the room of the glee club his mood brightened when he saw Quinn, he smiled and she met his eyes and smiled at him, Mateo took a seat on her left and got close to her "Hey gorgeous," He said in a whisper so only she could hear him
"Hey there, are you okay? You seem a little bit moody," Quinn said and Mateo sighed and leaned back on his seat
"Yeah I'm fine, just stop some dudes from bullying a student," Mateo said and Quinn smiled at his noble actions "The kid said something to think about," Mateo said and Quinn grow curious
"What did he say?" Quinn asked
"Would you let yourself disappear? Just to survive bullying?" Mateo asked in curiosity and Quinn frowned
"No I don't think so, I work hard to be who I am today, I wouldn't want myself to disappear," Quinn said and Mateo nodded as he saw his sister and Brittany entering the room
"Yeah, me neither," Mateo said and then got annoyed when Santana pushed his head playfully "Actually I had another question I wanted to ask you," Mateo said as he look at Quinn who was chuckling at the brotherly interaction
"What is it?" Quinn asked in genuine curiosity
"Are you free this Friday?" Mateo asked and Quinn's eyes winded "I want to take you to dinner," Mateo said and Quinn smiled
"I am, where are you taking me?" Quinn asked and Mateo smiled
"Well, that's a surprise, I can't actually ruin the surprise now can I?" Mateo asked sarcastically and Quinn chuckled
"It better be good," Quinn said and Mateo smiled
"It's meals for kings and queens," Mateo said cheekily and Quinn shook her head chuckling
"Okay guys sorry for being late, I was with principal Figgins," Mr. Schue said as he took a seat next to the piano Mateo's and Quinn's hands silently find one another as they joined hands and Mateo squeezed slightly "Bad news guys, Puckerman got sent into juvie," Schuster said
"I mean it was just a matter of time," Tina said and some of the glee club members chuckled
"What did he do?" Quinn asked in confusion
"He drove his mom's Volvo through a convenience store and ran with the ATM," Schue said and Mateo snorted
"Oh god, Shawn is going to eat him alive," Mateo said gaining the confusion of many in the room
"When is he getting out?" Rachel asked in curiosity
"Unknown," Schue said
"He may be the dumbest person I've ever known and that's coming from me," Brittany said offhandedly making Mateo snort
"Guys have a little sympathy," Schue said and Mateo scoffed
"Sorry Mr. Schue but you reap what you saw," Mateo said and several students nodded
"Yeah Mateo is right, why should we? For a guy who put his needs before the team's," Finn said and Mateo frowned "We need his voice and bad boy presence," Finn said and Mateo sighed
"Not what I meant," Mateo whispered and Quinn heard him and squeezed his hand in support
"Guys we can't look at this as a crisis, instead we can look at this as an opportunity," Schue said
"For what? Further embarrassment and humiliation?" Quinn asked
"For welcoming our newest member, Sam Evans!" Mr. Schue said excitedly as the blond teenager enter running to the room
"There he is," Finn said and Mateo snorted
"Hey everyone I'm Sam… Sam I am, and I don't like green eggs and ham," Sam said and an uncomfortable silence followed his comments
"Oh wow, he has no game," Santana said and Mateo chuckled
"Nah, you underestimate the power of his dorkiness," Mateo said chuckling as Sam got embarrassed "And Evans the fact that you didn't say, hello there, is disappointing," Mateo said and Sam chuckled
"I thought of it," Sam said as he walked to Mateo and Finn frowned a little noticing their friendship
"How's your shoulder?" Mateo asked as both teens fist bumped
"Healing," Sam said as Mateo nodded "So, any advice you want to give me from this club?" Sam said as Mr. Schue started telling the club about this week's lesson
"Grab a second shirt to classes, just in case," Mateo said and Quinn nodded
"Why?" Sam asked in confusion
"Sorry, that's spoiling the surprise," Mateo said cheekily as Quinn laughed and Sam sighed
Sometime later
"Okay, I don't want you to hate me," Mateo said as he and Quinn were sitting in an empty classroom together "But I don't want to do a duet in front of everyone with you," Mateo said and Quinn crossed her arms and frown at him
"You better have an explanation, Teo," Quinn said and Mateo grabbed her hand and took a seat
"A duet, at least for me, is like getting naked in front of each other," Mateo said and Quinn blushed "A duet is singing to the other person, and if I sing to you, you're going to hear everything out of me, and I would like to keep that just for you, and no one else, especially not in front of a teacher," Mateo said and Quinn sighed and walk close to him and hugged his neck
"I kind of get it, but let me hear it, let's sing something, here, and if I get your point I won't fight you on this," Quinn said and Mateo look at her
"What do you have in mind?" Mateo said as Quinn look into his eyes

"Me too, god we're such broken people aren't we?" Quinn said with a sad chuckle as she sobbed on his shoulder
"Yeah, but together we make one whole person, so I call that a win," Mateo said with a chuckle as he made Quinn laugh
"You're a dork," Quinn said separating from his shoulder and putting her forehead close to his
"Yeah, but I'm your dork," Mateo said and she smiled and started kissing him
"Shame, I really wanted to go to Breadstick with you," Quinn said between kisses as Mateo's hands went from her back to her waist
"In my opinion," Mateo said as he started kissing her neck "Breadsticks is kind of overrated," Mateo said planting a long kiss on her neck and then looked at her face to face "So gorgeous, you better bring you A game, because I intend to win," Mateo said cheekily as Quinn squeezed his cheeks
"In your dreams Teo, those coupons are mine," Quinn said chuckling
"You look so hot when you get competitive," Mateo said in a whisper as Quinn blushed and chuckle
"Shut up," Quinn said pushing his face away "Come on, we need to get to class," Quinn said grabbing his hand and leading him away to the door
"Can't we just skip class and remain here making out?" Mateo asked cheekily and grabbing her by the waist
"No, we need to maintain a good GPA, I won't date someone with bad grades again, understood?" Quinn said with a frown on her face
Now most people Quinn gave them that frown will crumble in fear but Quinn's eyes winded when she saw Mateo smiling at her wickedly "Of course dear," Mateo said and then he leaned into her "I love it when you get bossy, it makes you look so hot," Mateo said as he went for a small loving kiss and then exited the room leaving a flustered Quinn there
"Dammit, you won't win Teo," Quinn thought with a chuckle as for the first time in a while she felt truly happy

"Encontraste algo?" Mateo asked as he was eating some chips in the cafeteria as Maddy was sitting in front of him
"Nop, no encontré casi nada, el vato literal es un fantasma," Maddy said with a sigh in her voice and Mateo raised an eyebrow in curiosity "He's a sophomore, but he just fades like a background character, I think Karofsky bullying him is deeper than we think," Maddy said as Mateo looked down at the floor in deep thought
"Gay?" Mateo asked trying to guess if that was the case
"Probably, Dave has a track of bullying queer kids, but like I said, is not confirmed so we can't guess," Maddy said and Mateo sighed
"I fucking hate this school sometimes," Mateo said looking to the entrance of the cafeteria and noticing Finn arguing with Kurt
"God how I hate those two," Maddy whispered to herself and Mateo looked at her in curiosity but said nothing and just waited for her to speak up "They're the worst of both worlds, Hudson is a closet homophobic and Kurt is a creepy homosexual," Maddy said as Mateo leaned back
"I kind of see what you're saying about Hudson, but why?" Mateo asked in curiosity
"It's just the side glances, and the side comments, two girls kissing is hot but two guys is weird and disgusting, if you try to be queer in this school is going to affect me, that sort of thing," Maddy said as she leaned forward "I bet you they're talking about Kurt doing a duet with Sam," Maddy said and Mateo crossed his arms
"How do you know that?" Mateo asked and Maddy raised an eyebrow at him mockingly "Right, gossip queen, dumb question," Mateo said "I mean there's nothing wrong with that tough, I mean two dudes singing together," Mateo said with a frown on his face
"Of course not, but Hudson wants to fit in, be popular, did you know when Beiste kicked him out at the start of the year, he tried out for the cheerleaders just to stay on top?" Maddy said and Mateo snorted
"Really? God, I wish I saw that" Mateo said with a chuckle and then frowned "Ah, I see what you're getting at, you think he's telling Kurt not to do it, because it will hurt the rep of his protégé, well, you know, the one he thinks he has," Mateo said and Maddy nodded
"Like I said closet homophobia, I hate those guys," Maddy said "Osea no soy homophobico pero no me gusta ver eso, that's still homophobia, imbeciles," Maddy said in anger and Mateo chuckled
"You sound just like Bruno, I think he got mad like that once when a guy looked at him with a side eye glare just because he was talking to me," Mateo said and Maddy chuckled and calm down "And Kurt? Why don't you like him?" Mateo asked in curiosity
"Because he doesn't know the meaning of no," Maddy said as she sighed "If you want to date a girl and she says she's not interested, what do you do?" Maddy asked in curiosity
"I'd leave, she made it clear, so that's that," Mateo said and Maddy smiled at him "Let me guess, he keeps pushing it, right?" Mateo asked sarcastically and Maddy nodded
"He had a major crush on Hudson, and he literally put his father and Hudson's mother together so he could live with Finn and see him more regularly, and see him in other ways," Maddy said and Mateo pinched his nose
"I see what you mean, he's just trying too much right?" Mateo said with a sigh as Maddy nodded
"I mean I don't blame him, he's alone, I don't think somebody has talked to him about just notching it a few bars a little, just to don't mess with people's boundaries," Maddy said with a sigh "I would but I have to much shit to deal with, and I can't be bothered," Maddy said with an irritated sigh
"You don't like the fact that he perpetuates all the bad prejudices of queer people, right?" Mateo asked rhetorically and Maddy nodded "Want me to talk to him?" Mateo asked
"You would?" Maddy asked with winded eyes
"Yeah, I have a certain understanding of the situation, Bruno was like that when he started discovering himself, I can offer a more clear view than Hudson's," Mateo said and Maddy smiled at him
"Thank you, de verdad, no ocupas hacer eso pero aun así gracias," Maddy said thanking him
"Maddy, quieras o no somos amigos ahora, y yo cuido de mis amigos," Mateo said with a smile as Maddy's eyes winded "Besides it's part of me trying to get you to join the Glee club," Mateo said with a chuckle
"I did tell you that you'd have to work hard for it, but you're on your way," Maddy said and Mateo smirked

Mateo was drying himself up on the locker and the showers as he started changing into his regular clothes and started listening to a conversation between Finn and Sam
"I don't see what the big deal is, the kid sent me over sixty MP3s last night and I thought he was Faith Hill," Sam said to Finn as Mateo leaned on his locker and hid to listen to the conversation closely "The kid is good," Sam said
"This isn't about how good Kurt is," Finn said with a sigh as he sat on a stool "Being in Glee Club is like walking on the double yellow line of a hallway," He said as Sam put his attention to him "You get yourself a little off course, you're going to get crushed," He said
"I gotta be honest, you're kind of confusing me," Sam said looking down at Finn "I mean you remember what you said when you talked me into joining glee club?" Sam said as Finn remembered he told him about Nationals
"Look I join the Glee club because I'm new here and you said is going to make me popular, now you're saying it's going to get me killed?" Sam asked in confusion as Mateo crossed his arms when he heard all of that
"Well, eventually you're going to get popular from it, but until then, you gotta lay low a bit," Finn said getting irritated "And singing a duet with another dude is not laying low," Finn said and Mateo frowned
He knew where Finn was coming from, Maddy was right and weirdly he wasn't wrong but that just pissed Mateo off more
"Didn't know you had a problem with gay dudes," Sam said and Finn scoffed
"Look I don't have a problem with gay dudes, but everyone else does," Finn said in irritation "And we live in their world, and in their world, you singing with Kurt is a death sentence," Finn said and Mateo when he heard that he tighten his fists and his eyes grew cold as a cold fury invaded him
"Hijo de la Chingada, you just want the glee to be popular, doesn't matter if Kurt deserves to be who he is," Mateo thought in anger as he almost missed the end of Sam's and Finn's conversations
"Well I gave him my word," Sam said with a sigh "And in my world, that's that," Sam said closing his locker and Mateo smiled a little at his conviction
He saw him exiting the locker room and followed him and when he got out he saw Karofsky and another dude throwing a slushie at him
Mateo let his fury show on his face as a cold glare froze the jocks and went around Mateo and inside the lockers "I did tell you to bring another shirt," Mato said with a sarcastic chuckle as Sam looked at him cleaning his eyes
"Let's get you clean up cowboy, tengo que hablar contigo rubio," Mateo said as he grabbed Sam's shoulder and directed him to the restrooms
"Make sure to get your eyes cleaned, the ice could get inside, your shirt is a lost case though," Mateo said with a chuckle as he helped Sam clean his hair "Hey dude, now that I look closely at it, you bleach it didn't you?" Mateo asked in curiosity
"Ah shit, you see it?" Sam said "Now there are two guys who noticed it," Sam said and Mateo chuckled
"Let me guess Kurt?" Mateo said as Sam closed the sink and nodded looking at Mateo "So, I heard your conversation with Hudson, and wanted to talk about it," Mateo said handing Sam the towel
"Is rude to listen to other people's conversations," Sam said cheekily and Mateo snorted "Yeah he just wanted me to not sing with Kurt, and with someone else, and well you know the rest," Sam said as Mateo put his hands on his pockets and sighed
"Look, Hudson is an idiot, and what he told you came from a place that doesn't care for you," Mateo said as Sam looked at him in confusion "They're afraid that if you get bullied you'd leave the club," Mateo clarified and Sam nodded in understanding "But he did speak some truth, we are living in their world," Mateo said and Sam frowned "Before you think badly of me, let me finish," Mateo said putting a hand forward
"Like I told you this is a very, a very, homophobic school, even those who claim they're not, most of them are closet homophobes and they just adapt to whatever is popular, like Hudson," Mateo said "You singing with Kurt, it can go either way dude, frankly I think people are still going to bully you either way, like this slushie incident," Mateo said pointing at the wet and dirty towel
"What's your point then?" Sam asked
"My point?" "But you made the right choice, by sticking with Kurt, now I have to ask you to stand down," Mateo said crossing his arms
"Why?" Sam asked in curiosity
"Because I have already faced this sort of shit, and do you really think Finn isn't having this same conversation with Kurt?" Mateo asked rhetorically "Look, Sam, you haven't even met these guys, and you're my friend, let me take over this one time and you can help me help Kurt another time, once you actually get to know him," Mateo said seriousness "Especially because Kurt also needs to learn about boundaries," Mateo said with a sigh as he leaned on the sinks
"Look, you can tell me to piss off and do the duet with Kurt, but I have more experience with this, so I'm asking you to let me take over," Mateo said as Sam looked at the towel
"He reminds you of Bruno right?" Sam said letting him know without saying it that he had read the news, Mateo sighed and nodded and Sam now understood where Mateo was coming from "Okay, I'll find another partner, but I think the only one left is Quinn, don't you have a problem with that?" Sam said and Mateo raised an eyebrow "She's your girlfriend right?" Sam said and Mateo nodded
"Yeah she is, but don't spread it, we want to be alone for a while," Mateo said "Why would I have a problem with that?" Mateo asked in curiosity
"Is a duet, so," Sam said uncomfortably
"Dude chill, I trust her, is just a song," Mateo said with a chuckle "Besides I also trust that you realize that if you do something I'll beat your ass right?" Mateo said with a cold glare and Sam gulped

"Good, now let's grab something to eat, I'm starving," Mateo said walking to the exit of the restroom and Sam sighed

"Howdy Kurtacios," Mateo said dropping on the lockers next to Kurt as the young Hummel looked at him in curiosity "You know, I'm kind of jealous that you didn't think I was gay and gave me attention, and here I thought I looked good for both teams," Mateo said with a mock sad expression on his face as Kurt chuckled
"I don't like men with tattoos," Kurt said scoffing, and Mateo gasped
"Oh wow, that's just a wound to my ego," Mateo said making Kurt chuckle "Or is it that your type is muscular men, because, between Hudson and Sam, you have a track record," Mateo said as Kurt blushed and he put his books closed to his chest
"What's this about Mateo?" Kurt asked in curiosity
"Walk with me Kurt," Mateo said as both of them started walking through the school "Is hard, isn't it? having to have your true self disappear just to fit in," Mateo said without looking at Kurt

"Look, Hudson's words are kind of correct, but they came from the wrong place, he's too worried about Sam leaving the club and not getting to nationals, is kind of weird but anyway," Mateo said and Kurt's eyes winded as he realized that was exactly why Finn talked to him "You deserve to be able to sing with whoever you want and don't give a fuck about what anyone else thinks," Mateo said and Kurt scoffed
"Well, easier said than done, where will I find someone who won't care about reputation?" Kurt said and Mateo smirked at him
"My reputation is very shitty, so I don't give a fuck," Mateo said as Kurt's eyes winded as the Mexican teen put a fist on Kurt's chest "I won't let you disappear, Kurt, I'm your duet partner, and we're going to win those coupons and sell them to Santana," Mateo said with a chuckle as Kurt gave him a big smile

"You guys learn it?" Mateo asked the band as Kurt was getting ready on his seat, the band nodded, and Mateo smirked and put a fist forward "Thank you, dudes, let's do a good job," He said as he fist bumped with the band members
"Okay, guys who's going first?" Mr. Schue said in curiosity as he was a little confused about what Mateo was doing
"Mr. Schue if I may," Kurt said and Will nodded as Kurt took the stage and Mateo leaned next to the piano "So as you may know, I had a duet partner, but due to sensitivities I rather not get into at the moment," Kurt said and Mateo snorted
"Homophobia," Mateo said coughing into his fist and Kurt gave him a side glare telling him to be quiet
"Anyway, I decided to end the partnership," Kurt said, and Mr. Schue looked at him in confusion
"At first I wanted to sing solo like I have been doing most of my life," Kurt said and Finn's eyes winded as he noticed Mateo glaring at him "But then our resident bad boy wannabe asked to be my partner, and his words moved me and I agree," Kurt said and Mateo snorted
"You do realize I cursed like fifty percent of that conversation, right?" Mateo said sarcastically and Kurt chuckled "So, shall we, I can't wait to see Santana's shocked face when I steal the coupons from her," Mateo said with a chuckle as Santana put her tongue out at him mockingly
Mateo walked to Kurt and placed a hand on his shoulder "Remember, only you and I matter," Mateo said squeezing his shoulder and walking to where the band was.

Kurt nodded at Mateo and the young Mexican teen smiled "Just because we live in a world that hates what we are," Mateo said with a smirk as he locked eyes with Finn "That doesn't mean we have to disappear too please them, it just means that we need to change the world," Mateo said with a chuckle as the club smiled and clap
"And FYI, Santana we would like those custom bibs, they would look so lonely when you won't be able to make it, so we'll make good use of them," Mateo said chuckling as Santana scrunch her nose and flipped him off making him laugh hard

"You were really good back there," Mateo heard a female voice say as he closed his locker and saw Rachel standing there
"Thanks?" Mateo said leaning on the locker "Sorry this is weird, this is the first time you talk to me," He said with a chuckle and Rachel sighed
"Sorry I was kind of afraid of you, you look kind of scary," Rachel said and Mateo snorted
"Sorry, Mom did say that I look like a criminal with these clothes, and my scar doesn't help does it?" Mateo asked rhetorically and Rachel chuckled
"They kind of fit you either way, I thought that you were good when you audition but this one, it was on the next level," She said and Mateo raised an eyebrow
"Seems like you want to ask me something," Mateo said and Rachel sighed
"You're talented, not as much as me, but you are," Rachel said and Mateo chuckled "And you have a drive like me, and yet everyone hates me and they like you, and they have known you far shorter than me," She said and Mateo looked at her in concern
"I don't think they hate you, or at least from my perspective and from what I've seen," Mateo said and then he chuckled "Although you did send that girl to the crack house," Mateo said with a chuckle
"Ah don't remind me, don't know what I was thinking," Rachel said pinching her nose
"You felt threatened, you want to be on top, and that place is a very scary place, I get it," Mateo said with a chuckle "Is that why you're trying to get Quinn to partner with Sam?" Mateo asked in curiosity
"How did you know?" Rachel asked in confusion
"Quinn told me, after Mike and Tina's performance, which was awesome and fun I have to say," Mateo said with a smile "She told me you approached her and told her to partner with Sam," Mateo said looking at her "Want to give the new guy a reason to stay or what?" Mateo asked in curiosity
"I felt like I was an awful person, I always try to get what I want, I thought maybe I could give the spotlight to someone else, that's why Finn and I are planning to throw the competition," Rachel said and Mateo crossed his arms
"Let me guess you're second-guessing yourself, right?" Mateo said and Rachel nodded
"I heard your song and Mercedes and Santana's song, and I felt like…" Rachel said and Mateo smirked
"Like you had to beat us?" Mateo asked sarcastically and looking at her with a smirk
"Yeah, is it selfish?" Rachel asked in confusion
"Not really, great people, good people, when it comes to sports or competition, they become mean just to win," Mateo said "Like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, great people, but on the court, the biggest assholes," Mateo said and Rachel sighed
"But I can't help my pathological need to be liked by anyone," Rachel said and Mateo laughed making her glare at him
"Sorry, sorry, it was really funny," Mateo said and then he placed a hand on her shoulder "Look, just because you want the spotlight that doesn't mean you have to be mean outside it, you're talented, and you have drive and passion, so there's nothing wrong of demanding what you think you deserve," Mateo said with a smile as he separates from her and started walking away
"Hey, would you like to sing a song with me? Some other time?" Rachel asked and Mateo smiled at her
"Sure, but I don't know if those guys can handle our talent together," Mateo said with a smirk as Rachel chuckled "Rachel, don't let anything get in the way of your goal, it's too great for you let it go," Mateo said leaving Rachel with a lot to think of

"Uh, Finn? Why are you wearing a pastor's outfit?" Mr. Schue asked in confusion as Finn was waiting for Rachel on the stage of the room
"An outfit for our song," Finn said with a smile, and then Rachel entered the classroom with a frown in deep thought and Finn noticed she wasn't wearing her outfit
"Rachel? Where's your outfit?" Finn asked in curiosity as Rachel took the stage
"I wanted to throw the competition, to give a chance for some new people to shine," Rachel said crossing her arms "Because I felt I was a bad person," Rachel said as Mateo leaned forward on his seat with a smirk on his face as Quinn looked at him in confusion
"That's good sportsmanship Rachel, good job," Mr. Schue said missing the point she was going to make
"Yeah, I was wrong," Rachel said looking at the club with a serious look on her face as her eyes landed on Mateo "Some people surprised me, and then my drive to defeat them grew, Rachel said with a smirk on her face "The spotlight is mine, I knew I had to bring my A-game to prove it, that's why I won't do any songs today," Rachel said as Finn looked at her in confusion
"Rachel, what are you saying?" Finn asked in curiosity as Mateo's smirk grew wider
"I will defeat you Mateo, that's a fact, understood?" Rachel said as the group grow tense and Mateo chuckled
"Don't know Berry, I kind of want that spotlight, so you better bring your best," Mateo said with a smirk
Rachel smirked and took a seat on an unoccupied chair as Finn took a seat next to her looking at her in confusion "What was all that about?" Finn whispered at her in confusion
"A new competitor, that's all," Rachel said to him and meanwhile Mateo leaned back on his chair with a smirk on his face as Quinn raised an eyebrow at him
"Don't worry, I just want to beat her that's all," Mateo reassure her and squeezed her hand as he wished her good luck on her performance
Quinn squeezed his hand back and smile at him as she leaned toward him "This song is for you, so listen carefully," Quinn said with a smile as she walked to the stage with Sam
"I just want to say that I'm very excited and that I could not find a better partner," Sam said with a smile putting his guitar on him as Quinn chuckled and then his eyes met Mateo "And that's all she is, a partner, just to be clear so that I don't get beat up," Sam said with a nervous chuckle as several people looked at Mateo in confusion
"Don't know what you mean, but sounds smart," Mateo said with a cold look as Quinn pinched her nose and sighed but internally, she was smiling at his jealousness
They played the song Lucky, and at first, Quinn helped Sam play the guitar and then they separated and started dancing around each other.
The plan was for them to pretend they were singing to each other but Quinn forgot that plan entirely as she kept glancing at Mateo who was trying not to smile like an idiot
It felt like she was singing her parts just for him so when they finished, Mateo clapped his hands together real hard and smiled at Quinn with happiness.

"Quinn wait up!" The blond cheerleader heard someone say from behind her as she turn around and saw Santana walking towards her "We need to talk," Sanatana said crossing her arms on her chest
"Sure, what do you want to talk about?" Quinn asked in curiosity
"You're dating my brother, aren't you?" Santana asked knowingly
"Yeah, he doesn't hide it well, does he?" Quinn said rhetorically and Santana snorted.
"Nop, he always was a bad liar, I won't shout it out, but I need to make my sister threatening act," Sanatana said and Quinn nodded "He's gone through a lot Quinn," Sanatana said
"Yeah I know," Quinn said and Santana's eyes winded
"Wait, what? You know about last year?" Sanatana said and Quinn nodded
"He told me, well actually he showed me, but you get what I mean," Quinn said and Santana got surprised
"Wow, this is bigger than I thought, okay, listen to me Quinn, I'm not going to mess between you two, I'm not like that and frankly Mateo would kill me," Santana said with a chuckle as Quinn laughed a little
But then Santana glared at her hard and Quinn gulped "But, you hurt my brother and I'll end you, understood?" Santana said rhetorically as Quinn nodded "Good, great talk then, and if my mother gives you any trouble just let me know," Santana said as Quinn got confused at those last words and just walked away
"You know you didn't have to do that, right?" Mateo said from behind Santana and she looked back and smiled
"You mean just like you glared at Robby when I was fifteen for like about five minutes just because you saw us kissing?" Santana said and Mateo chuckled
"Fair," Mateo said putting his arm over her shoulders "Hey San, todo bien? Te note decaida esta semana," Mateo asked concerned at her downcast mood of the week
"Si estoy bien, solo estoy descubriendo algunas cosas," Santana said and Mateo squezeed her and brought her close
"Yo siempre voy a estar de tu lado, lo sabes verdad?" Mateo said as she hugged him tightly and smile "You know, that kid, Sam he's single," Mateo said with a chuckle as Santana looked at him
"Why are you telling me this?" Santana asked in curiosity
"Just imagine the look of our mom when she realized that we're dating two white blonds, it'll be so funny," Mateo said with a chuckle
"Yeah, I can see it," Santana said with a chuckle as she dropped her face into his chest "If I ever need someone to talk to, can you be there for me?" Sanatana asked not looking at him and Mateo smiled and hugged closer
"Always, is me and you San, always been and always will be," Mateo said as Sanatana snorted and separated herself from him
"Thank you, now let's go, we're going to be late for Glee," She said grabbing his hand and leading him into the Glee club

Mateo was waiting outside Quinn's home next to his car, he was wearing some black jeans and a dark blue sleeveless shirt, surrounded by his trusty black leather jacket
He was leaning on his car with his arms crossed over his chest and then he smiled when he saw Quin exciting her home wearing a blue dress and some silver sandals "I'll be back later Mom!" He heard her shout as she closed the door and walked to him with a big smile on his face
"You look so beautiful," Mateo said looking up and down at her with a smile on his face
"Thank you, you didn't tell me what to expect so I decided to dress in something simple," She said as he grabbed her hand and brought her close into a small loving kiss
"You could be dressed in a trash bag and you'd still be the prettiest girl ever," Mateo said after breaking the kiss
"God you're so cheesy," Quinn said with a chuckle as she placed her hands on his chest "So, where are you taking me?" Quinn asked in curiosity
"Mama Martinez's Dinner," Mateo said, and Quinn raised an eyebrow in confusion
"I've never heard of it," Quinn said and Mateo chuckled
"I don't expect you to, güerita," Mateo said with a chuckle "It's Bruno's mom's restaurant, it's practically my second home," Mateo said with a small smile "I want to share it with you, to show you I'm all in on us," Mateo said looking down at her as she smiled at him
"You know I don't need a reminder right, you have shown me plenty right now," Quinn said with a smile on her face
"I know, but I want to treat you right, and this is a first step to do it, I want you to know me, my good parts and my bad parts, that's why," Mateo said with a smirk as Quinn leaned her head on his chest
"I want to tell you something, but you can only listen, you cannot ask me questions, I want to tell you when I'm ready," Quinn said and Mateo nodded and listen "My first name is Lucy, Lucy Q. Fabray, I just change it to be a different person than the one from my other school," She said as Mateo looked forward
"Lucy huh? It's a pretty name, whenever you want to tell me the reason, I'll be here," Mateo whispered in her ear as she smiled to herself
For once she felt truly happy, she didn't know what he had done to her but she felt like she could trust again like se mattered at least to someone, and that made her content
