Goodra was fairly exhausted. The "walk" or rather the road crossing through two Mystery Dungeons, which is one of the stupidest places that someone could've put a road at was, is horrible.
He wouldn't outwardly complain for the sake of not wanting to make everyone else feel worse about it but in July's mind he could do anything he wanted. And most of the things July did in his brain was worrying about Chimera and also about the fact that it's been around two years since he last saw Pine and Avery.
He knows they both have been busy since they're the youngest Guildmasters or Guildmaster since Pine is just an assistant, but is it that selfish to want to see someone? It's fine though, he's going to have to see them to tell them about Chimera and about the fact Eevee, or well Nathan, was a human anyways.
Episode Two
Common Knowledge
July could hear them the entire time Zoroark brought Nathan over to the side to talk about "personal matters." He could hear them really well. It was unabashedly loud. Not loud enough for anyone off in the square away from the sandy area to hear, but loud enough that he could. And apart from the fact that another disaster would happen, there was another part that worried him. That Salazzle was the same as the one on the beach.
July knew that she must've heard them talk about Nathan, and judging from the strange way she spoke when Team Parallel talked to her she definitely has some kind of ulterior motive for coming with them. He's going to have to wait for when they make it to the Guild to tell them, until then it's just trying to help Chimera through the road and thinking about… a lot of things.
"Goodra?" Chimera asked, snapping Goodra out of his thoughts.
At the moment the two were walking through one of the Mystery Dungeons on the walk called Gentle Slope Cave. It was a dungeon full of Geo Stones and large rock types filling rooms whole that were too hard to avoid.
At the front was Salazzle and Garchomp who were mainly just there for Garchomp to enter a room with everyone waiting in a hallway to dish out Earthquakes one after another to the Pokémon inside. At the back were Nathan and Zoroark guarding the back due to not wanting to be backstabbed by Garchomp and Salazzle in a very clear and loud whispering voice, though somehow Salazzle or Garchomp didn't hear them. And in the middle was the Goodra himself and Chimera. They were there due to his injured arm and Chimera's broken leg.
"Yes?" July answered. The group was currently making their way through a large rocky corridor that was most likely made by an Onix tunneling through the area.
Chimera kept having weary eyes every time he looked at him, he knew what they meant. July knew that Chimera felt guilty about the whole arm situation. He had been trying to get them to just let it die but every single time it never works.
Chimera took a glance at July's eyes before looking away, "I- I don't, nevermind actually. It's fine."
"Huh? Don't just say nevermind, tell me! I said I want to help and I can't if you don't tell me."
"N-no really, it's fine. I was going to ask some stupid question but it's not really a good time for this."
"I mean not really, nothing much is going on and it's not like we'll do much with our injuries n' stuff."
"Yeah, you're right…" Chimera stared at the floor for a bit. Despite being taller than the whole group including the two dragons known for their size by around a foot, they always seemed to be so small. Mostly due to the fact they kind of are always slouched forward a bit.
"So are you going to tell me?" Goodra leaned forward a bit and put his arms behind his back.
"Umm, not really?" Chimera answered with a bit of an uncertain tone.
Look I'm just trying to help out, I know this sounds bad but please don't make this harder than it needs to be.
"Why not?"
"Heheh… I kind of explained that to you a bit earlier…"
"Well, I want to hear the question. No reason not to," at the same moment July thought, I really don't want to seem like I'm forcing them. Maybe I should just let it go?
"O- okay then…"
Huh?! Actually that's good!
Chimera looked him in the eyes, "what do I do?"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, well, after I get punished or something, what do I do? I don't have any memories, and I don't have any family or anything, so what will I do? There's nothing…"
That… that is a good question, "well I'm sure that the Guild could take you in, I know the Guildmaster so it should be fine!"
"O-oh, that's good, I think."
"What do you mean by I think?"
"I don't know what a guild is. I don't really know about anything that's going on like, Mystery Dungeons or whatever is happening. I know that guild members are supposed to help people or something, but I just don't know what is happening."
"Oh. Oh, yeah, if you want I could explain it for you."
"That would be good, thank you."
"I'm going to start off with Mystery Dungeons because we're in one now and it would probably be better for you to know now. Mystery Dungeons are warps in space, as in matter or the world around us. Those warps in space are made through imbalances in energy. They are often made due to the fact that either, A: the land the Dungeon is in has a certain property that exerts or absorbs energy, such as crystals that exert out elemental energy, B: when a Pokémon was in that area they exerted a large amount of energy through moves, emotions, or sheer force, or, C: they just decide to pop up randomly due Palkia or some Legendary wanting to screw us over."
"How do emotions give off energy?" Chimera questioned.
"It's kind of weird how Aura, Power, Energy, Moves, and all that jazz works so I'll explain it a bit later, but just for now emotions are another form of energy since they are generated by the soul, and by soul I don't mean any philosophical stuff," Goodra went on with his earlier explanation.
"I think you know how Dungeons themselves work though, right?" Chimera somewhat nodded, "I'm just going to give you a bit of a breakdown. Mystery Dungeons are maze-like structures that have multiple floors, with random items appearing and feral Pokémon, they are also randomized whenever you go inside one. And that's the basics of Dungeons, wow I really sound like Watchog."
"I don't really know how to feel about this whole Dungeon thing." Chimera just had a slightly confused look instead of a fully confused one.
"It's fine, I don't really know either," the large corridor made a turn to the left.
"Anyways, Guilds. Guilds are basically just large establishments where the whole thing is helping people, exploring, or arresting outlaws. A Guildmaster is the person who controls or takes care of the entire guild making things run and other stuff. My friends, Delphox and Sceptile, are the people who are running the Guild, with Delphox being the Guildmaster and Sceptile as the assistant. The Guild we're going to is the Lively Guild, or is also known as the Exploration Society, it just kind of switches between the two. Lively City is the place where the Guild is and also one of the largest and most popular due to it being a large port and the Expedition Society basically being in the middle of everything."
"I'm going to have to live there?!"
"Well, if you choose to, I would invite you over to mud house but Poliwrath is already crashing at my place and I'm afraid that moron is already taking up most of the space there," July never got to get Poliwrath's name yet even after knowing him for a while, it's weird.
"Why do you just casually insult him like that?" Chimera asked, catching July just a bit off guard.
"H-huh! O-oh, well, it's just kind of the way I act towards him. It's just a bit of friendly teasing."
"Why don't you act that way to me?"
"Well," it's because you remind me of younger me. And pity, but I think you already know that. "Everyone acts differently towards others, I act that way to Poliwrath because I know he can handle it and we both know it's just some teasing."
"Okay then," Chimera answered with what seemed like a thought on their mind. Goodra couldn't tell what they were thinking due to being interrupted by the cheer of a tired Salazzle.
"Yes! Finally! That was way too long!" Salazzle cheered, hopping up and down in front of the entrance to a room.
"Get out of the way while you're celebrating please," Garchomp told Salazzle while trying to scooch past her.
"Wait, is there a staircase there!" Nathan asked from the back.
"Yes, of course! What other reason would I be acting like this?" Salazzle retorted.
"I don't know, barely talked to you."
"Well, uh, you should talk to me more! After all I am very important," Salazzle put her chin on the back of her hand and did a bit of a weird pose.
"I really don't care, let's get this over with," July, Chimera, and Team Parallel made their way into the room housing the stairway. It was closed off with the only entrance being the way they just came through.
"Once we go through this staircase we make it out of the dungeon to a view overlooking Lively City, it's really pretty so you should probably take a look," Adrian commented.
"Let's just get through already," Garchomp declared and made his way down with everyone else following suit.
The world turned black for a moment with no light before twisting and distorting until it snapped back and they were landed into the inside of a road inside of a cave. Ahead of them was a light coming from an entranceway.
I could never get used to that feeling.
July examined everyone else for a second. Nathan looked like he puked a bit in his mouth and swallowed it, probably due to not being used to it, Chimera didn't seem to look so well though.
"Are you okay?" July went over to them.
Chimera was getting up from the floor with a huge amount of difficulty, it looked like someone bashed something across the back of their head and Chimera was trying to get back up.
"I- oh, I, hnnnn, okay…" Chimera answered, technically.
"Is that a no?"
"I- yeah, I'm just not used to these yet."
"That's a bit strange. You went through the earlier one like it was a breeze." July recalled when they first entered the previous dungeon, Sheer Mountain Range, how Chimera only just wobbled for a bit with no pain before getting back on their feet in a second. This was more than a second, and there was pain.
"Urgh, okay," they got up to their feet but it looked like a slight breeze could knock them over. "It's fine, l-let's just keep going."
Zoroark approached the two of them, "hey are you two good? Cause you really don't."
"Kind of, Chimera just feels a bit nauseated due to leaving the dungeon."
"Oh, don't worry, you'll get used to it. Everyone feels a bit like that whenever they go through one for the first time," Zoroark assured Chimera. "Although it is strange since you went through Sheer Mountain Range really well."
"Eh, i-it's just nothing really," Chimera gave them a nervous smile. Chimera began to hobble their way over to the exit where Nathan was already waiting. Zoroark and July followed, both sharing faces of concern to only each other.
"Hey, Garchomp and Salazzle went out to see the view," Nathan told them.
Everyone walked out of the cave to see the Sun lowering down to the horizon of the dark blue ocean accented by the orange light reflected off the surface.
They were all at the top of a large hill that overlooked the orange, purple, and pink roofs of Lively City. It was a long way down to the peninsula where Lively City was but the view was great. Seeing all of the purple mountains lit by the shimmering orange light of the Sun. Everything was kept inside the warm gaze of the Sun for only these moments of the day before it fell and the stars started to shine.
July looked over to Chimera whose eyes glimmered at the wondrous view that was going to become a memory to be cherished. Their silver mane glimmered from the golden sun as a zephyr flew by them pulling their hair lightly with the wind.
"This looks amazing," July said astound with the absolute beauty of the view. Chimera could only nod at the statement as they took everything in.
"It's been a bit, still looks the same," Salazzle commented from behind.
"Do you mean that by a negative stance or what?" Garchomp asked.
"You'll never know," Salazzle said with a mischievous tone.
"Okay let's get going, only around forty minutes away," Nathan commanded.
"'Kay," July began to walk down with the others until he noticed that Chimera was lagging behind a bit. "Hey, are you still feeling bad?"
Chimeras movements and words began to slow, "I- I, who are-" Chimeras legs gave out and they began to fall towards Goodra.
"Oof!" July got caught off guard but was able to catch them in his arms. Chimera's eyes started to close as they spoke, "Giratina…?" They fainted.
"Hey?" July shook them a bit, "what?" Everyone else had already turned and came over to see Chimera due to the noise.
"Are they okay?!" Zoroark worriedly came and touched their head as if they had a fever.
"Giratina?" Salazzle tapped her cheek as if in thought.
"What happened?" Nathan asked.
"They just began to… faint? I don't know. They were somewhat fine before coming out of the dungeon. What changed?"
"They must've been too fatigued. Probably pushed themselves a bit too hard during the dungeons," Garchomp concluded.
"I mean it makes sense, I found them after midnight and if they just made their way through four dungeons in less than twenty four hours with only a bit of sleep then, yeah." It's just so strange, Giratina's one of the legendaries, why would that be something you say before fainting?
"Well, we can't really do anything now," Nathan said rather uncaringly. "We need someone to pick them up and bring them into the Guild."
"I'll just carry them," Goodra decided.
"No, your wrist just got cut, we need someone else," Zoroark rebutted.
"I'll take care of them then, since none of you can," Garchomp chose. "I'm going to try to hold them with the upper part of my arms. I'll need someone to help lift them up into them."
"Goodra, can you help me please?" Zoroark went over to the back of Chimera while July was holding their front. In a "1, 2, 3," the two both lifted Chimera up, struggling, onto Garchomp's lowered arms.
"Are you sure you'll be able to keep them up the entire time?" Adrian asked.
"It's no big deal, had to carry heavier before."
"We need to get down now, I want to make sure Chimera can get to the infirmary at the Guild quickly," July told them.
"Yeah," Salazzle said.
The group began to make it down the hill as the night began to blanket the sky.
"So that's what happened so far?" The same Delphox as ever asked July. July was in the Guildmasters office, or rather Avery's. She still had the same square glasses, observant eyes, and calm demeanor, although strangely it did feel like that was amplified a bit more.
They both were seated around the wooden desk with Pine standing at his side with the same high energy feeling to him, that felt flighty dimmer.
"Yes," July nodded. "Nathan and Zoroark went to their rooms almost immediately after Garchomp dropped off Chimera at the infirmary. Garchomp and Salazzle both went to an inn somewhere."
"That is worrying, what happened now?" Pine added, "the last world ending event was only seven years ago, which was ours."
"Hm, I think I might need to talk with them," Avery said. "But it's currently quite late tonight, how about you two go to sleep. You can sleep in my bed for now, July."
Huh? "Don't you want to talk for a bit more? It's been two years."
"I'm sorry, it's just that I have some things going on now, so if you please."
"Yeah… let's just go, July, we could talk together." Pine's words from the beginning felt like some energy or joy had been drained only to be somewhat filled from the last statement.
July got up and along with Pine they left into the third floor of the guild. It was lights out soon and there weren't a lot of people in the area. Pine took a left into and walked towards his and Avery's room. He could hear a sigh come from him.
As July was about to follow Pine he could hear Avery talking to herself from behind the door.
"It's only been three years since then… sigh, what do I do?"
hey this is the author. Just a note I make for this story pretty often, unfortunately I don't know how to put it in. On Ao3 I have the same story there with the same name where you can see some of the art, In planning to make little comic pages on certain episodes later so it would be nice if you could just check out the Ao3 version. I do have it also on my DeviantArt account SmartestIdiotTheLast or there's a Comicfury archive thing I have under PMD: Glass Desert Art and Comics. I would appreciate it if you could go over and look at it but it's fine if you don't want to. See ya next week.
