Two Blue Lines Change Everything-Ch 32
Penelope's heart rate began to quicken, the doctor looked up at the monitor and then down to Penelope and said, "I need for you to stay calm Penelope, as of right now you are stable, the baby isn't in any distress but", Derek said, "but, but what?", the doctor said, "I'm going to order you on complete bed rest for the forseeable future", Penelope nodded her head and said, "is the baby really okay?", the doctor said, "for now yes but you were showing signs of possible miscarriage earlier".
Derek said, "so if she stayes in bed and keeps her stress down both her and the baby should be alright, right?", the doctor said, "yes", Penelope said, "I will do whatever it takes to keep this baby safe, thank you doctor, thank you, thank you", Derek said, "yes, thank you for everything you've done ot help my wife and our child".
Penelope said, "how long do I have to stay here in the hospital?", the doctor said, "I want to keep you here for a few days to monitor you and the baby, if by Friday you are still stable I will let you go home but you will be on bed rest until I say otherwise", both Derek and Penelope nodded their heads yes before the doctor turned and headed toward the door.
She stopped and turned back around and said, "there are several people here to see you, I'll allow them to come in and visit as long as your vital signs stay stable", Penelope said, "thank you", Derek then kissed his wife gently on the lips and said, "remember what we were told, you have to stay calm, okay?", she laid her head down on his shoudler and said,"I will, I will".
A few minutes later the door opened and the team along with Fran and the girls walked into the room, when they got over to her bedside Fran said, "what did the doctor say?", Derek said, "when I brought her in she was showing signs of miscarriage but now she's stable but she is on bed rest for the foreseeable future".
Fran said, "how long does she have to stay in the hospital?", Derek said, "if she stays stable till Friday they will let her come home but she will still be on bed rest and no stress at all", Fran took Penelope by the hand and said, "don't worry sweetheart, when you come home I'll take care of you", Penelope smiled knowing that Fran was a nurse and had been one for over 30 years.
Derek said, "thank you momma", Fran said, "of course, I will do anything to make sure that Penelope and my grandbaby are safe, you should know that by now boy", Derek held up his hands and laughed as he said, "yes momma, yes momma", Penelope laughed and said, "I don't know what I would do without you guys, you are always there to help me".
JJ and Emily stepped forward and JJ said, "of course we are, you're our family, you're our sister and we love you and don't forget that the little one growing inside you is our niece or nephew, that we can't wait to spoil rotten by the way", Penelope grinned and said, "ohhh I don't doubt that at all, not at all".
Everybody stayed and had dinner with Penelope before they all headed out leaving Derek and Penelope alone, Hotch and Dave had talked to the director and he agreed that the safest thing for Penelope and the baby was to take a leave of absence but he made it clear to them all that when she was cleared by the doctor that she could come back, when Penelope was told this she was happy and glad that her boss was so understanding.
With Kevin arrested and Penelope down the best analyst they had was Ramona, she was an amazing tech and if it hadn't been for her they never would have found Penelope in time before Kevin would have raped her, they would all always be thankful to their newest friend and family member.
At the end of the evening Penelope was exhausted and the last thing she asked for was that Derek cuddle up with her in bed, he toed off his shoes and climbed back in bed with her, she laid her head down on his chest and sighed happily, she loved being wrapped in her husbands arms, she always felt safe and happy there and right now that's exactly what she needed.
Before heading home for the night the doctor made one final check on Penelope and she couldn't help but smile as she looked into her room and saw the couple snuggled close sleeping, she checked her vitals and saw that they were all normal, she left word at the nurses station that if anything changed to notify her immediately and then headed home to get some much deserved sleep.
