Chapter 4

"Silver wing report to mission briefing room eight"

Jacob eyes flattered open with a sigh, he couldn't say he was sleeping to be honest. He never did when on board a ship. He laid still for a moment as he let his eyes adjusting to the artificial lighting from the ships room. The bright whiteness from the cabin slowly coming into view, he sighed gently, it seemed that he couldn't get away form dull colour, be it with the Jedi or his Master. Still he was hear for a reason. He had to impress while he was here. Jacob knew he had a massive opportunity here. If he managed to get Yoda on side, well then it would certainly be a massive win in his column. After all, who would question the wisest among the Jedi? If Yoda said he was useful and trust worthy, who would question him?

Jacob groaned gently as he rubbed his hands over his eyes as he rolled out of his bed. He turned to look back at the messy sheets. The only positive thing he could think, was at least he didn't have to suffer though another nightmare. That was the last thing he needed right now, his master didn't care but he was sure Yoda would have easily sensed everything going on in his mind.

"Commander Jacob, report to the bridge"

Jacob rolled his eyes as he nodded. That was going to take some getting used to, he had no idea he would be getting a rank within this army. He was shocked however that the Jedi naively assigned there youngest members with positions of power. How are they shocked when that goes wrong? How could the average Padawan handle that sort of responsibility? After all, that was what he was portraying here.

Jacob turned to look at the squads of troopers running past him, he nodded to a few of them that passed, yet he couldn't say he could remember any of there names is he was going to be completely honest. He didn't need to know them after all. They offered him nothing regarding forwarding his own interests, he was not here to make friends after all, only allies. Which he can make with his own actions, he didn't have to be friendly with anyone.

The young man breathed in gently as he watched the turbo lift. He hovered over the small grey button that was labelled Bridge. Pushing the button somewhat more roughly than he intended, the doors slid open, welcoming the young man into the small cylinder.

"I just hope he gets to the point" Jacob stated as he ran his hand thought his black hair, he didn't know why the G M was being so friendly with him. he didn't know if he secretly suspected him of something, if he was playing mind games. Or if he was trying to get him onside. Jacob shook his head as the lift opened. His eyes scanning the area, he could already see Master Yoda at the end of the long corridor a Commander Truant standing next to him, a women in a grey uniform that seemed to be a Admiral. Jacob folded his arms behind his back as he padded forward as he tried to keep his emotions in check. He knew that the green master has already shown himself to be quite good at sensing his own feelings.

"Jacob, good to see it is" Yoda Commented

"Good morning Master" Jacob commented as he turned to look at the two men presently standing in front of them. He turned to look out of the glass, the stars seemed to shine brightly in the darkness as he turned to look down at the green Master. "How is the ambassador enjoying her trip?" Jacob asked with a smile. He knew she was less then impressed with her treatment so far, a fact that she was vocal about if he was going to be honest. He respected it her drive at least, at least she knew what she really wants. However, she was demanding. Jacob just stayed around the troopers is he was going to honest, helped with the security. He was still surprised he was given the rank of commander; he had been a Jedi Order for two minutes and already he was promoted to that rank, no wonder the J had lost so many troops up to this point.

Jacob was surprised by just how easy it was to get the Clone Troops to talk about the issues they have on the Jedi. It was something the young man knew he would have to keep an eye on, it seems that not all the Clones respected the Jedi. It was something that Jacob knew he would have to dig into deeper. The narrative that the Jedi seemed to like to throw around, clearly that was not the case, and the lie was starting to un pick itself.

"Difficult the Ambassador is" Yoda stated with a tired sigh. He turned to look at the young man. "Long this mission has been" Yoda commented.

Jacob nodded as he folded his arms against his chest and nodded. "I have heard about it, luckily, I have had security concerns to deal with. I don't envy you Master. she seems that she would be quiet the handful. However, on the plus side, security on board is tight. If the Separatists was planning something, then it wouldn't end to well for them" Jacob commented confidently.

"Yes, easy however this mission will not be. S something on board I already do" Yoda commented.

Jacob raised an eyebrow as he looked at the Jedi Master. "Master we have checked everywhere on this Ship. There is nowhere for anyone to hide on here" Jacob commented as he turned to look at the admiral.

"General with all due respect, there is no way that anyone can come onto this ship without us knowing, as the commander mentioned, we have gone all though this ship. There was no way anyone could be hiding anywhere" The Admiral stated his eyes locking with Jacob who seemed just as confused as the younger man was. "There is nothing out of the ordinary on board this vessel, nothing" he commented.

Yoda Stroked his face as he closed his eyes for a moment. "No, come they will. Be vigilant we must be, speak to council I must speak, found the ship they have" Yoda commented.

"If you say so Master" Jacob nodded as he turned to look at the admiral once again, the look of shock on his face told the whole story, and did he see some irritation on his face? How far spread has the annoyance with the Jedi gone. Did they all harbor some resentment towards them? From the old days of the war? He would have though so. How many on board this ship lost friends due to incompetent leadership? The Jedi were not generals, if they were serious about winning this war, they would give up the command to someone who knew what they were doing. Not just promote someone just because they were Jedi. After all, how long has Jacob been here? A few days? A week. Not only that, but he was also not even a fully trained Jedi. He couldn't imagine that the admiral thrilled about talking orders from him. No, Jacob knew this was one, a brilliant source of story to secretly give to Terrance as well as something to concern himself.

"Very well Admiral, I think we should go over our security one more time. Just to be safe" Jacob commented as he turned to older man. He could see the slight flash of anger going though his eyes. He nodded gently, moving closer to the older man. "I know we have gone though it three times before, but I guess another look won't hurt" Jacob said shrugging gently as he looked at him, he was an older man…. well clone. Probably in his mid-fifties.

"Fine, I am sure we can get used to staring at nothingness for awhile" She sighed running his hand thought her hair. She shook her head as she moved her hand in front of her, inviting him to move forward back to the turbo lift as they both looked back at the Jedi master walking to the briefing room.

Jacob turned to look across from her as he moved to the turbo lift, he didn't need to have the force to sense that she was frustrated. He could only imagine being told what to do by inexperienced generals really wasn't helping the situation. He turned to look down at the officers working on the ships computer senses. "Well, at least we have had a calm trip so far. Have to say when i was invited along with Master Yoda, i was expecting a little more action then this" Jacob commented with a chuckle.

"Lets hope it stays that way" She grunted moving to step into the turbo lift, she hit the button for security room. "We really don't need to get into a firefight out here" She stated.

"Well lets hope now, besides we wouldn't have enough time to stare blankly at all of the security processes we have made for the tenth time" Jacob commented with a smile as he rubbed his hand along his hair. "I can understand the reason behind it to be honest, with this being a hopeful new ally for the republic, i can see why Master Yoda would be so careful when it comes to the security of the ship" Jacob commented. "What's your name?" he asked

"My name is sapphire" Sapphire commented, she sighed and nodded. "I can understand the reasoning commander Jacob. Yet i don't understand" Sapphire commented with a sigh. "Even at war, the enemy is not always everywhere. Why would they want to attack this random ship? No-one knows that we are carrying the ambassador onboard" Sapphire commented.

"Well, we can't afford to underestimate, the dark sider users" Jacob commented leaning his head against the wall of the turbo lift.

"Do you mean the Sith?"

"THEY ARE NOT THE SITH!"

Jacob shook his head for a moment clearing his thoughts. "Yes" Jacob commented. "Yes that was what i meant" Jacob stated.

Sapphire turned to look at him for a moment. "You know, you shouldn't be here. You really shouldn't. Well maybe not here. I mean" Sapphire started

"I know what you mean" Jacob finished for her. "You mean, i shouldn't be a commander, i agree. I was not trained by the Jedi. I didn't train in the temple, so i don't know how they work things, i was just as surprised as you are that i was named a commander. All i can say is that i will do my best, of course. If we end up working together a lot, i will be leaning on you a lot of course" Jacob smiled gently.

"Well i am assigned to Master Yoda, in charge of his ship and fleet...well under his command of course" Sapphire commented.

Jacob nodded as he turned to her. "Well that's to bad, i think we would have made a good team" he commented as the doors of turbo lift opened. He moved to step back into the second level of the command structure.

"Yeah, well unfortunately we will won't be able to find that out." Sapphire commented as she followed him into the security office. Inside there was a small camera system as well as other communicate devices, a internal sensor display was already let up and operating. Sapphire let out a small sigh as she turned to look at the system, pressing one of the buttons as the hologram projector snapped into life.

Jacob nodded gently as he did wonder if Yoda would be willing to let him work with sapphire more often, at the very least. The green master has taken a shine to him, or at the very least he was interested in him. Maybe he could make a request? After all, she could be very useful to him. She clearly had some what of a problem with the Jedi, or at the very least didn't want them commanding a ship with no experience. With her being in such a high position. She certainly would be a easy source of intel, as well if things got dicy, he could always lay the blame on her. Yes, she would be an easy scapegoat for him if he needed it. Plus, Jacob couldn't forget the other part of his mission, to get people to at least get more support for the Jedi in the short term, so if he could make a lasting and impressive impression on her, then perhaps she might be more willing to accept the Jedi leadership, if one did then more might follow. "All seems clear...again" Jacob chuckled as he leaned against the hologram.

"Just like the last time" Sapphire sighed as she turned to lean her back against the hologram.

"Well, look on the bright side. When we are down here, there is less chance of interacting with the ambassador" Jacob commented hearing Sapphire chuckle. "There is always a plus side to-" Jacob started

"Commander Jacob and Admiral Sapphire, report to the bridge please"

Sapphire sighed shaking her head. "Jinx" she called out a hint of playfulness in her tone as she headed for the door.

"I mean...i am a Jedi. I could break the door locking mechanism. No questions asked" Jacob asked playfully titling his head to the side in questionable look. Chuckling upon seeing the glare he leaned into his communicator. "We are on our way, what's the problem?" Jacob asked

"Two warships have just came out of hyperspace"

Master Yoda frowned softly, leaning against his stick as he stared at the two grey Separatists ships, already moving into an attack formation. He turned to look two figures running over to him, he turned to look up at Jacob. "I seems, needed we were" Yoda commented

"Yes Master, it seems that we were" Jacob commented, glancing a glance at the annoyed expression glowing over Sapphire's face. "Yes, i am sure the clones and the admiral here would have been able to deal with the situation" Jacob stated folding his arms. "Seems a bit over kill, two wars ship for one ambassador, i mean, its very bold to be honest" Jacob commented.

"Agreed, if they did manage to destroy our ship. What do they achieve here?" Sapphire commented as he turned to look back at her crew.

Jacob nodded down to Master Yoda, his eyes turning down back to the imposing grey vessels. He narrowed his eyes slightly; he couldn't afford for them to interfere with his plans. "Well, are we within weapons range?" Jacob asked turning to look back at the gunners who swiftly nodded their heads. "Well, lets. Make some scrap dealer extremely happy and rip those ships apart" Jacob said with a shrug.

"I don't think we should be so quick to launch an attack, with that other ship out there. We don't know what other new toys the Seps have. We could be walking right into a trap" Sapphire commented as she turned to look down at the Green Master

"True, but need to get to the moon we do" Yoda commented commented as he looked at S. "No choice we have" Yoda finished finally.

"With all due respect I-"

Sapphire started, however the lighting from the H E on the bridge cut her off. Her eyes landing on the forum of an insectoid creatures. Its black eyes staring blankly back at them.

"No need to be alarmed, we have not come to destroy your vessel, I am Admiral Janzel, commander of the Separatist Fleet in this Sector. we have come at the request of the JEX people. We are understanding that they want to hear from both sides of this conflicts, I understand they have some concerns that the J are not what they once were, that they are not the peacekeepers that they claim to be. Of course, we both know this is true, yet they are still undecided. Naturally, upon hearing their request. I was only to delighted to come and give them a visit in person. To show them the benefits of joining the TRUE peacekeepers in this Galaxy"

"No matter how many times you say, doesn't make it true" Jacob stated looking at the new strange being. Of course, he had only really met human or humanoid being at his 'Home'. So as such he had no idea a creature such as this existed.

"Hmm, I see another new Jedi. I don't think we have any intel about you just yet. Hmm perhaps the War is going worse than we thought based on the look of you" Admiral Janzel commented.

Jacob chuckled and shook his head. "Well, they knew you were in the Sector. they decided this would be a easy training session for me" he commented.

"Hmm, well we will find out soon or later young one. However, as I mentioned I have not come to fight, if you allow it, we will accompany you to the planets moon. We will keep a safe distance of course. However, if you refuse…. Well, all you will be doing is proving those who doubt the Jedi right now would you."

"Do you think we would trust you? Have y-"Sapphire started

"Come with you we will" Yoda commented as he moved forward, his hand still leaning against his Stick. he turned to look back at the perplexed expression, still coating the faces of his two companions. He stopped in front of the screen. nodding gently. "On the Moon see you there we will" Yoda commented with a look up to the increasing annoyed Sapphire.

"Well, this should be fun" Jacob commented, a heavy sigh breaking out of his lips. He could already tell that he had a lot of work to do her. More so with the stupidity of the Jedi. he knew he would have his work cut out for him.

(wow that took a lot longer then i imagined. Still not happy with it but it is what it is. Hope you enjoy it anyways)

"I am on my way" Jacob commented leaning into his coms link. He moved forward gripping onto his cape that was hanging on the door. He rubbed against the black material, sure. Perhaps this might make look even more suspicious, maybe even more likely to have more questions thrown at him on why he choose this type of jacket. He had not personally seen any Jedi choosing this type of jacket. Yet he didn't care, this was his choice and one of the only ones he could make on his own. Jacob would tell with what every issues that come across because of it.
