Chapter 11
I know… this is beyond sorry. I was on vacation! You guys HAVE to forgive me!
Dan sat at the dining table, eating the pancakes his mom had baked him. For the first time, ever since he had lost his memory, he felt at home.
"Before you vanished, I barely ever saw you. You had already left once, some years back." Mrs. Kuso said.
Dan looked up, "I left? Where did I go?" It seemed so foolish now. Why did he ever feel the need to leave?
"You and Drago left for these adventures, saying you needed to go on or something like that."
Dan stopped abruptly, set his fork down, and looked up. It was as if his mother had slapped him. "Drago was with me to?"
Mrs. Kuso looked at him in amusement, "Of course he was! Ever since you both met when you were twelve you both are together." Her tone was so surprised that Dan fell into a state of shock. Realization dawned over him. Drago had lied to him.
Dan got up. "I need to leave. I have some business to look into."
His mother frowned at him, "You just came Dan, stay for a while."
Dan shook his head, "I have to go now, but I'll return. I promise." was all he said before he left

Dan opened the door of the room they were currently staying in. Lara was sitting at the edge of the bed. Drago was besides her. Both of them were just back from the Misaki's.
Dan moved towards them, "Why did you lie to me?" he asked Drago.
"What are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about." Dan sounded almost angry now, almost out of patience. "Why did you lie?"
"What was the use in telling you? What difference would it make?" Drago said. "How did you find out?"
"I…I met my mother." Dan's voice was unsure now; it was almost as if he wasn't sure what he had to say. Suddenly he wasn't angry on Drago anymore. It didn't matter anymore. He was almost sure that Drago had a good reason. Why waste your energy on it?
"You went to your house?" This time, it was Lara who spoke.
Dan looked at her, his eyes were sad. He looked at her; he couldn't make himself say what he wanted to. How could he? No. He had to say it. I was for their best.
"Yes, I did. Lara, there's something I need to talk to you about" His voice was calm, as if awaiting the upcoming storm.
Lara looked at him again, she moved closer. Her eyes were sad, just like his. "You want to break up. That's what you want to say, right?"
Dan looked at her, his face stern. How had she guessed?
"Yes, that's what I wanted to talk about. We…We aren't right together. You know that, don't you?" He asked. He knew they weren't right together, and somewhere deep inside, she knew it too.
Despite herself, Lara managed a weak smile. "Yes, I knew,"
Dan looked at her as he pressed his palm to her cheek. "After we part, you'll take care. You'll find someone better for you. Will you do that?"
Lara nodded, "I will."
Dan smiled as he rose to leave once again. "I'll go for a short walk. It'll cool me down. Want to join me?" He asked Drago.
"No, you go on. I'll keep Lara company."
Dan smiled once more in Lara's direction, before he left.

Runo sat on the bench of an old children's park. It was a place where he and Runo usually met for their dates. So if someone asked, the place was very special.
She never admitted it, but ever since Dan had vanished, she came here a lot.
As she was lost in her own thoughts, a voice called from behind. "Mind if I join you?"
Runo looked back, and she saw Dan. He was standing behind the bench she was sitting on. Even in his simple jeans and shirt, he looked breathtakingly handsome. She just sat there, staring at him.
Questions flooded her mind. What was he doing here? Why was he asking to join her?
Still, ignoring her inner minds conflict, she answered him. "Sure."
Dan took a seat besides her. For a while none of them spoke. Runo was too shocked to say anything. All of this seemed like a dream to her.
"I know, you know." Dan said, breaking the silence.
"What do you know?" Runo asked him, bewildered.
"I know we were engaged. I know I proposed."
Runo looked at him. Not knowing what to say. "Oh" Was all she could manage.
"I mean…I don't remember stuff. I just know. I've had flashbacks." Dan continued, "You know what the funny part is?"
Runo shook her head, "N...No, I don't." She didn't get how someone could find anything funny about this situation. "What was funny?" She asked, looking down. Not able to meet his eyes.
"All of them, all of them, were about you." He said.
Runo looked at him now. Somehow not believing what he was saying. All of them were about me? Was what she wanted to ask him. Instead, "I didn't find anything funny with that." was what she said.
Dan laughed without humor. "I know. I was just being sarcastic. Can I um…try something?" he asked, suddenly looking unsure.
Runo looked at him, "What do you want to try?"
Dan looked directly into her eyes now. As if something was pulling him closer, he brought his mouth down on hers. Runo gasped at first, WHAT was he doing?
His mouth was harsh on hers, almost desperate, like quenching your thirst on a desert. As the kisses continued, they became softer, and more intense. Runo, forgetting her worries, wrapped her hands around his neck, bringing them closer. Her hands ran through his hair as one of his hands wrapped around her waist, while the other cupped her cheek.
He has a fiancé. He's not yours anymore. The thoughts suddenly clouded her. What was she doing? This is wrong, she thought.
Suddenly, she pushed him aside. They couldn't be together.
Runo got up and ran out of the park. "Runo, Wait!" Dan called from behind.
Runo would've given anything to go back and kiss him again, but she couldn't. It was wrong. They could never be together.
Hey guys! This chapter will be the second last or something like that. I'll start another Dan X Runo after that.
