Chapter 17: Homecoming
"KORI FREAKING ANDERS!"
Kori squealed in surprise as the voice startled her. She was simply sitting in her room when the voice called. Looking up from where she was painting a picture, she saw an angry Jade stomp in with Artemis and Jenny in follow.
"Hola." Jenn droned with a wave. She offered her hand in a greeting, but Jade smacked it quickly away and glared at her.
"Don't you 'Hola' at Kori!" Jade scolded. She pointed an accusing finger at the redhead and continued,"You have some explaining to do Missy! Why in the hell did you quit cheerleading?!"
Kori shrugged,"It was getting in the way of my school work. Besides, I'm not that good of a cheerleader. The team doesn't need me."
"B-but, Kori you're amazing." Jade stammered,"I mean, why are you going to quit when homecoming is seriously tomorrow!"
"I never showed up to the practices. I had to pick up my little brother from school and I have a lot of homework Jade. I'm sorry, but I didn't have the time for it." Kori apologized.
Jade sighed. She knew Kori was never the one to have an excuse. If she quit then she had a reason.
"It's okay that you quit Kor. I'm kinda bummed out though."
Kori stood from her seat and smiled at her. That was when Jade really took in her outfit. Kori wore her hair in a messy bun and had on a paint splattered white t-shirt while she also wore a large pair of overalls. It looked kinda funky, but cute.
"All aboard the hug train! Choo! Choo!" Kori giggled. She slowly walked towards Jade who looked cheesy. "Chugga chugga chugga chugga choo! choo! "
Jade snorted and hugged the girl. Meanwhile, Artemis and Jenn were peering at Kori's painting. It was a simple picture of a girl sitting on a hill looking up at a large star covered sky. It looked so real that Jenn believed it was a portal to another world.
"Kori..." Artemis breathed slowly. She picked up the delicate canvas and turned it. "You did this?"
The redhead in question nodded with a shy smile. "Yes, but it's still a work in progress."
"A wha?" Jenn asked confused. Kori separated herself from Jade and grabbed the painting.
"It's um- it's kinda rough. It's not that good..."
"Not that good?!" Artemis exclaimed. She grabbed Kori's face and made her look down at the painting. "What's not good about it?! It's amazing! Kori, stop doubting yourself. This, no you, are incredible!"
Kori blushed a bright red. She knew she was pretty alright, but Artemis made it sound like she was something special. Kori smiled at the blonde and hugged her. Artemis didn't like hugs, but she supposed all redheaded friends, besides Roy, had a free pass.
"You girls know..." Jenn began. She looked at the three and faced her phone towards them. "Kori you could totally go to a school for this stuff. It'll help you get better and be good for you. You do want to become an artist when you're older, right?"
The girls looked at the phone to see a prestigious art school for the highly talented. It was called Star City's Highschool for Visual and Performing Arts. It was a school for talented young actors, vocalists, dancers, and artists. Kori chewed on her bottom lip and glanced up.
"The school is nice, but I don't want to leave. I want to become an artist, yes, but I can't leave Richard and you all."
"Yeah Jenn, what the hell are you thinking? That school is all the way across the country! We'll probably never freaking see Kori again!" Jade yelled. Jenn shrugged and Artemis smacked her arm.
"The point of the school is for Kori to get a higher education. It's selfish for you to try and keep her here instead of letting her grow out to her full potential!"
Jade stuck her tongue out at her younger sister. Jenn grunted loudly and began to read off of her phone,"It says that Kori would need to tryout to get into the school. Some people would bring a few supplies and watch her draw for a few hours. If she's good enough then she'll be able to join for the second semester."
"Jenn, I don't want to go to the school. It is a great offer, but my home is here. My friends, family, boyfriend, all the ones I love."
"Untrue, your uncle Galfore lives in Star City!" Artemis announced with a smirk.
Kori sighed and shook her head. "If you all wish then I'll give them a call and tryout."
"WOOH! Kori you'll so make it!"
Jenn screamed happily. She knew that Jump City's Highschool wouldn't get Kori anywhere in her career choice. What she needed was a little pushing and she finally achieved it.
Kori giggled and Artemis handed her the phone. On the other line was a man speaking with a deep tone. Kori spoke with the man and learned three things during the entire conversation. One-this man was named Mr. Wilson and he was the principal of the school. Two- the school was sometimes called the Hive and it was a very strict, yet proper school for only the best. Three- Mr. Wilson was sending a few people up to Jump City in about two weeks to monitor Kori's tryout.
When Kori handed Artemis back the phone she sighed at their excited faces. Even Jade seemed a little happy for the news of Kori trying out. Kori gave the three weird looks.
She wasn't going to this school. Nope, she had her boyfriend, her bestfriend, her Robin here. As long as her heart belonged to him then Kori Anders was going to stay in Jump City.

Raven looked on as Gar and Wally messed with Richard and Victor. It was the day of homecoming and the school took part in the festivity of this event. Dark blue and silver banners hung on the ceilings, girls walked around in Richard's jersey, face paint was on almost every student, and the football players had been studying their playbooks since Coach Stewart handed it to them.
Gar and Wally were in tears for laughing so hard. Victor had been paying so much attention to his playbook that he hadn't realized all of his french fries had been eaten.
"You guys are idiots." Roy informed dully. Wally smirked at him and tossed a fry in his mouth.
"This idiot is perfectly fine then. I got a hot date tonight, I've got a belly full of pizza, and-" Wally tossed another fry in his mouth,"I've got me some fries!"
Roy shook his head at the two cackling morons and looked at the table. Garth was across the lunchroom asking that Toni girl out again, Bee had claimed she couldn't make it to school today, Jade was beside him talking with Artemis about their outfits for tonight, Raven was reading a book, Jenn and Connor were talking about something, Kori was beside Richard, Dick and Victor were studying tonight's plays, and the comedians were now writing something on a napkin.
Gar laughed to himself and slid the paper towards Roy. "Hey dude, if you can read what's on that paper then you're a genius!"
Roy scoffed at him and looked down. On the napkin were four random words. "Alright, I'll read them." Roy began to read, "Ice. Bank. Mice. Elf."
"Um, I'm sorry Roy, can you say that again, but a little faster."
Roy frowned at Gar, "Ice. Bank, Mice. Elf."
"Yes you do Roy cause you've been a bad boy! You deserve those spankens!" Wally guffawed laughing. Him and Gar were in tears of mirth and the two boys were laughing so hard that they fell from the table. Roy looked lost and Raven felt it was time for the need of her elaboration.
"Say it all together quickly and it sounds like you're saying that you spank yourself."
Raven looked back down at her book and Roy paused. Did it? He said the words faster and finally understood how he sounded. No wonder they were laughing! Roy flushed a bright red, but he could still hear the two laughing. Oh well, first prank the two did that actually didn't get anyone hurt.
"Duuuuuude!" Gar exclaimed, his hands waving around in the air excitedly. "That was sooooo sweet! I can't believe you said that! Don't you ever check read?"
Wally snorted at Gar,"What like you do?"
"Yeah! Ever since me and Raven have been going out!" Gar defended. Jade and Jenn glanced at each other while Connor chuckled.
"How did you finally get her to say yes?" Connor inquired. Gar leaned back cooly and gave a charming grin.
"She couldn't resist me any longer."
If the babbling green haired boy didn't make the girls laugh then Raven huffing did. Gar recoiled himself and grunted at the echoing laughter.
Kori giggled at Gar and elbowed Richard beside her, "Richard, did you see what happened?"
Dick, in fact, did not see what happened. Him and Vic were far too busy studying for the game. This game was the most important game of the year. If Victor and him didn't pull this game into the winning circle then he was sure that the entire school would form an angry mob. Let's just say that football was serious in Jump City.
"Yeah, uh huh." Dick grunted. Kori frowned at him while Wally stifled a laugh.
"Yo Legs, let me handle this."
Kori looked suspicious of Wally's intentions, but she obliged. She stood up and Wally quickly took her place beside Dick. Wally turned to Kori and began to shoo her away with his hands. Kori got the hint and backed away from the table a small distance. Looking at her, Wally grinned and leaned into Dick's arm.
"Oh Dick, are you excited about homecoming tonight?"
"Yeah, uh huh."
Wally grinned,"Me too. I can't wait to go to the dance and get my groove thing on. How about you?"
"Yeah, uh huh."
"I bet Legs is too. She's super excited about the dance. Especially her date."
"Yeah, uh huh."
Wally sighed dramatically and smirked,"Oh well. You'll have a great time at the dance while Kori, our sweet Kori, is lookin like a fly honey as Xavier's date. They'll makeout all night while you stand by yourself at the punch bowl."
"Yeah, uh hu- wait, what?!"
Everyone began to laugh while Victor paid no mind and continued to study. Dick looked aghast at the thought and quickly shoved Wally away. He then stood, turned around, and walked towards Kori.
"You're not going with Xavier, right?" Dick asked. Kori smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"No, no, my heart has already been tooken by someone else. Someone tall and handsome and completely amazing." Kori cooed gently. She rubbed a small circle on the back of his neck as Dick grinned at her and leaned his forehead against hers.
"We're talking about me, right?"
Kori giggled,"Yes, I'm talking about you Mr. Grayson."
Dick smirked at her and gently kissed Kori's lips. "You're not so bad yourself Ms. Anders."
"Oh, I'm not?"
"No, definitely good. You're beautiful, inside and out." Dick spoke without no playfulness or hidden seductiveness in his voice. It was full of honesty and Kori couldn't help, but smile widely. Kori leaned up and gently kissed him which then slowly turned into what Wally would call: 'Them sucking each others faces.'
Artemis elbowed Wally in the gut making him flop onto the table. "Nice going genius, you made them makeout!"
Wally puffed out his chest at her then lost the seriousness when his face splitted into a large grin. Wally then began to silently laugh to himself to the point he had tears coming from his eyes. Artemis rose an eyebrow in confusion at the boy.
"What's so funny?"
Wally wiped away a tear and laughed again. Slowly, he brought a trembling finger up and pointed it to the far back of the cafeteria. Artemis, confused, looked on and soon saw what was making Wally double over in laughter. In Artemis's line of vision was Kitten sitting angrily in her seat with gritted teeth, steam coming from her ears, nostrils enflamed, and eyes full of fire.
Guess Kitten didn't like the show Kori and Dick were performing.
Artemis soon joined her homecoming date on the floor in laughter.

"And Grayson is heading into the fifty! He's at the forty, thirty, twenty! Oh, he dodges a tackle and- TOUCHDOWN TITANS! The Jump City Titans win the game!"
The metal gates that led into the stadium popped open in seconds. The excited crowd soon took over the field and surrounded the football team. The Titans had won the game against their long time rivals, the Metropolis cougars. The score had been close, but with Victor throwing the winning ball at Dick, the game had ended with the Titans winning.
"WOOH! I LOVE YOU DICK!"
"YOU'RE SO HOT DICK! "
"I LOVE YOU NUMBER 24!"
"DICK WILL YOU MARRY ME?!"
"OH MY GOD DICK THAT WAS LIKE, TOTALLY AMAZING!"
Girls after girls rushed towards Dick and pressed themselves against him. He was so uncomfortable right now. Sure, fangirls were cool and he would so hookup with one if he wasn't in love, but he was. The only girl that Dick wanted to actually see was Kori and she was in the far back trying to see him. The crowd had rushed so quickly towards the team they he assumed his girlfriend didn't get to make it in time.
Dick looked back and saw Victor and Karen sharing a passionate kiss under the raining confetti. Looking left, Coach Stewart was squealing in delight and Wally was recording the entire glee fest on his cellphone. A frown crossed Dick's face at the absent of his girlfriend. Just where the hell was she?
"KORI! KOR-OOF!" Dick toppled over onto the ground at the impact of someone pouncing him. He looked up with startled blue eyes to see his girlfriend on him with a large grin.
"You did it Richard! You guys won!"
Dick smiled at her. She was just so cute. Seeing her on top of him like this also made him feel a little frisky. She looked so pretty right now. Her crimson hair flowing in the wind while the stadium eyes brought out that sparkle in Kori's eyes.
Fuck it.
Grabbing her by the back of her neck, Dick pulled Kori into a searing kiss that she quickly returned.
Wally saw the act and smirked at the two. Turning to his right, Artemis stood there looking at the raining confetti filled sky with a light smile. Wally swiftly scooped the girl up in bridal style and turned to her as she wrapped her hands around his neck.
Wally smirked at Artemis with half lidded eyes,"I so should have done this sooner."
Artemis smirked back at him and leaned in closer, "No kidding." She said right before the two shared a sweet kiss.
"Hey Raven, look!" Gar exclaimed. Raven looked out at the hectic stadium and back at Gar. Before she could blink, the boy had crashed his lips into her own. She felt her eyes widen, but shit this feeling in her stomach felt so good. Her eyes closed in pleasure and Rachel soon wrapped her arms around Gar and returned the kiss happily.
Roy observed the romantic atmosphere and looked to see Jade standing with a cheshire like grin. Roy felt his eyes widen when she turned to him and took a step forward.
"Uh- what are you-" Roy's sentence was interrupted when Jade placed her forefinger on his lips. He looked at her as she smiled and slowly leaned in kissing him sweetly.
The dance hasn't even begun, but already the night was going great. It was perfect for everybody.
Well all accept Jenn, Connor, and Garth who looked on awkwardly.

"Alright, gentlemen let's get this show on the road!" Victor exclaimed to the boys. They all hooted their enthusiasm and walked inside the large ballroom.
The boys and girls had all separated after the game to go prepare themselves for the dance. Each guy took a shower and wore similar black tuxes, but different tie colors. Dick wore blue, Vic silver, Garth navy, Wally yellow, Gar green, Connor red, and Roy orange. Wally and Gar had both taken the liberty to comb and style their hairs so now all the males looked rather dashing. Each guy having a breath taking smile and a great outfit.
"Deuces guys! I gotta go find my lady!" Wally yelled. The guys all waved goodbye as the redhead left the group.
Wally walked towards a table and grabbed one of the red plastic cups, but before he could pour himself a drink he felt someone tap him on his shoulder. Wally turned, his mouth falling open when he saw Artemis standing there. She looked amazing, so much so that he found himself breathless. Her hair was curled and she was wearing a long emerald dress, with a diamond necklace hanging just below the cut of it. Her eyes were brought out with a light layer of mascara surrounding them. He had never seen anyone so beautiful.
"How do I look?," she asked shly.
"Beautiful," he breathed.
Artemis blushed, as she straightend his tie. "Good. I don't usually wear a dress so this is a rare moment for both of us."
Wally grinned at her and tilted her chin up, "Babe, you look beautiful. Really you do. Now what do you wanna do?"
On que, music began to play through the speakers, and the lights in the ball room dimmed. Wally tossed the cup he held aside and extended his hand out to her. "Dance with me?"
Artemis smiled at him and soon the two were on the dance floor.

Karen wore her hair down with soft curls at the end. Her golden dress sparkled with every move and her black high heels made her feet look hot. She felt great, but where was Victor?
"Wow, Bee you look...amazing."
Karen jumped at the voice to see that her long time boyfriend had found her. She smiled her ruby lips and stood to her feet. Victor did look spectacular and she couldn't help, but blush at his compliment.
"Thanks sparky. You don't look so bad yourself."
Victor grinned as music began to play. "Wanna dance honey bee?"
Karen smirked at him and took his now extended hand. "You know it hot stuff."

The song was slow and he couldn't imagine this moment to be any better. Roy loved the smell of Jade's hair. It always smelled like Jasmines for some reason, but hey, he wasn't complaining. The two future parents slowly moved in sync to the music playing in the ballroom. Jade looked amazing. Her long black hair was in a neat bun and she wore a beige dress that ended a little over her knees. Her makeup was natural and her small flats she wore were so much better then the high heels she usually used to stomp on his feet when they went dancing.
Speaking of stomping, she just did it now!
Roy looked down to see Jade's flushed face and chuckled.
"Sorry Roy..."
"Don't be." Roy soothed quietly. Jade looked up and Roy pecked her lips with his own.
"I love you Jade. You and all of your mistakes."
Jade smiled at him and Roy smiled back.
"Although, I'd prefer you don't wear your high heels when you make the mistakes. They kinda hurt my feet."
Jade gasped and smacked his chest as he laughed,"Roy! Geez, thanks for ruining the moment loser!"
Roy laughed louder and pulled her tighter to him,"It was too cheesy anyway."

"Alright, I've so got this." Jenn exclaimed. Connor leaned back into his chair and shook his head.
Jenn sat propped up in a chair with a bright pink dress on with black trimming. Her makeup was dark and her bubblegum hued hair was in a curly neat ponytail. Connor's ice blue eyes watched carefully as Jenn's pale grey arm chunked a peanut across the room.
No freaking way.
Jenn sat back in her chair with a satisfied smirk while Connor looked amazed. Jenn had betted that she could totally hit Garth on the other side of the room with at least five peanuts. Connor claimed she couldn't do it, but oh, she proved him wrong.
Jenn turned to Connor and held out her hand,"I believe somebody owes me five bucks!"
Connor stuck his tongue out at her and pulled out a five dollar bill. Jenn snatched the money from his hands and gave another smug face before turning to Garth. The lad was stomping over with something in his hands. Connor and Jenn watched as Garth stopped at the front of the table and glared at the two. Opening his hands, he revealed several peanuts in his palm.
"Alright." Garth hissed,"Who's hitting me in the head with peanuts?"
Connor and Jenn exchanged looks before erupting into laughter.

Kori wore a lilac mermaid dress with silver heels and jewelry to match. Her eyes gleamed with the soft makeup she wore and her lips were a light pink. Her hair was curled and fell down in soft waves down her back. Dick had found her and felt like he had fallen in love with her all over again at the sight.
The two didn't talk. Kori and Dick just leaned against each other and moved in perfect rhythm. Their eyes fixated on the other's for a long time. She leaned up and kissed him softly. Richard deepened the kiss, and the next thing you know they were making out on the dance floor.
"Oh, c'mon dudes. Really?," they heard Gar's voice say. They broke away and both looked up to find Gar standing beside himself with a frown.
"Can you two be in the same room for more than ten minutes without trying to eat each other's faces," he continued.
Kori smiled sheepishly. "No, I don't think so."
"And we're gonna keep it that way," Dick added.
Gar frowned and turned on his heels to run into what he could only claim as an Angel. She stood in the room with a soft blue light glowing off of her. Her hair was straight and long in a simple ponytail showing off that ebony color. Her face, her beautiful face, was graced with a set of purple eyes that gleamed like amethyst diamonds. Her dress fitted her body nicely and flowed down to the floor in a blanket of white.
"Wow."
Rachel soon saw him and approached timidly. She was so uncomfortable, but she prayed that she looked at least decent.
"Gar." Rachel greeted softly. Gar closed his slacked jaw and straightened his back. Was he drooling?
"Rachel, you look incredible." Gar breathed. Rachel blushed and was soon guided away by her date.
"You look nice." Rachel complimented. Gar grinned at her and saw her uncomfortable expression. She moved a hand over her shoulder and Gar swatted it away to see a small healing bruise.
"I'm sorry. I didn't have enough time to cover it up." Rachel apologized. Gar felt his heart break at the thought of her doing such. Didn't she know she didn't have to do that?
"Rachel." Gar began seriously,"You don't have to do nothing. I don't care about the bruises or the makeup or the way you look."
Rachel rose an eyebrow,"You don't?"
Gar shook his head and smiled at her,"I love your personality and fire. Raven you're the most amazing person I've ever met. You think you're alone, but you're not. Raven you're beautiful, bruises and all, and I've always got your back."
Rachel smiled at him and the two slowly drifted away in slow dancing.

They all danced for well over an hour, only stopping when the head of the homecoming comitte, a girl named Kole, took the stage located on the far end of the ball room, and began to speak into the microphone.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time to announce this years homecoming queen and king," she began, and everyone made their way closer to the stage. "Okay, this year's homecoming queen is..." she opened the white envelope and paused for dramatic effect. "Karen Beecher!"
Bee couldn't help, but squeal as everyone erupted into aplause. She took the stage and a tiara was placed on her head, as she beamed at the crowd gatherd in front of the stage. "And now for your homecoming king!" Kole opened another envelope, and looked back at the crowd. "No suprise here folks. Dick Grayson!"
Richard smiled and planted a quick kiss on Kori's lips, before running up on to stage. A crown was placed on his head, as he scanned the room for Kori, who he found standing by Wally. He blew her a kiss, which earned him a chorus of 'awwws' from the room.
"Now it's time for the King and Queen dance!" Kole chirped happily.
Dick reached over and took Bee's hand before leading her down the stage's stairs, but instead of taking her under the spotlight shinning down on the middle of the floor, he led her over to Victor.
"I believe I'll step down as king," he said handing Bee's hand to Vic before taking off his crown and placing it on Vic's head. Everyone in the room applauded this gesture.
"You sure man?" Victor whispered. Dick smiled and waved him off.
"Yeah man, you guys deserve this."
Victor grinned at him and quickly led Karen to the middle of the floor where they began to dance. Richard glanced at them, watching them sway to music, before turning back to his lovely girlfriend. "That was sweet of you my Robin. You don't want to be the homecoming king though?" Kori asked, cocking her head slightly to the side. Dick shivered at the way she said his name and smiled.
He took her hand into his own, "Nah, I already chose my queen,"
Kori grinned and watched as all of her friends enjoyed the night.

Alright, this chapter was full of fluff! Anyways, this is the last of the sweet chapters cause the drama mamma is back! *evil grin* Still, I loved this chapter and it and it made me smile a bunch. Sorry of not keeping up with updates, but I'm getting better. Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed!
