Chapter 20: Innocent or guilty?

It was small and relatively simple. Dark, dreary, cold, bleak, almost hopeless.

The jail cell where they held the pending prisoners captive could be described as a lot of things, but one word probably fit it the best.

Sad.

The concrete walls that packed the small square cell together was chipped and scratched. The floor itself was concrete as well with an area in the corner that looked like someone had tried to dig out a tunnel with a rusty spoon. Not one single color except a silver bench and twelve thick metallic bars holding inside five people.

"This is so fucking stupid! Why the hell am I even in here?!" Screamed a girl with thick white hair and an eyepatch on her right eye. She was tall, actually very pretty in a weird ruggish way and with one glance you could tell she would not take your shit. With a set of baby blue eyes or one rather being visible and tan skin she snarled at an officer who crouched at a desk.

"Shut it Wilson or we'll hold you even longer!" Yelled the guard. Wilson, as the girl with white hair was addressed as, flicked the man off and walked towards the corner of the jail sinking down on her knees.

Artemis and Wally watched the girl silently as she hissed and cursed to herself. They, along with Kory were crammed into this small cell with Wilson and another person who sat to himself smirking smugly.

"Can I ask why you're smiling? You are aware you're in jail, right?" Artemis asked the boy. Wally; who was occupying himself with staring at his hands, glanced up and squinted his eyes at the boy,

Damn did this dude look familiar.

The guy chuckled to himself and looked at her with an intense gaze. "Blondie I've been in jail too many times to count. This isn't the first time and I damn well know it won't be the last."

"Why are you in jail?" Kory asked, speaking for the first time since being thrown into this crummy place. He snickered and looked at her.

"Drugs. Probably the same reason why that girl over there-" he pointed at the girl with white hair,-" is in jail."

She whipped her head up at him and glared at the boy with such a look to make the devil himself feel fear. But he, no he simply looked at her with a cocky witted grin.

"You shut your mouth you fucking asshole. You don't know me and neither do any of you!" She hissed glaring at everyone. Wally made a face, Artemis rolled her eyes, Kory held her hands up in defense, and the guy simply chuckled.

"May I ask your name?" Kory asked softly looking at the girl. The girl blinked surprised at the soft tone and cleared her throat.

"My names uh Rose. Rose Wilson. Yours?"

Kory smiled lightly and looked at Rose. "My name is Kory Anders. It is wonderful to meet you Rose."

Suddenly the boy snapped his fingers and pointed at Kory. "You're Kory Anders? The one dating Richy, huh?"

Her green eyes glanced at him in slight surprise and she smiled nodding. "Yes I am dating Richard." She paused and scrunched her eyebrows looking at him. "Do you know him?"

"Know him" he snorted as Wally's eyes widened. "Hell I'm his brother."

Wally jumped so quickly out of the bench that Artemis and Rose jumped in the unexpected twist. "I knew I recognized you! You're Jason Todd! What happened to you dude?"

Jason gave a laugh and looked at him,"I grew up West. I got tired of Bruce always trying to push me to be perfect like little Dicky and shit so I left."

Wally sat down silently and popped his tongue. Jason chuckled and glanced at Kory and eyed her.

"Quit oogling her with your eyes you weirdo. She's already taken by your brother." Rose sneered. Jason scoffed and narrowed his eyes at her.

"I know that, and I wasn't 'oogling' her. And at least I have eyes unlike you cyclops. I was staring at her because what I want to know is how those three-" he pointed at Wally, Artemis, and Kory,"-ended up here."

Rose opened her mouth to yell very vicious things, but closed them once Artemis began to speak. "We're in here for one reason. Kitten Moth. The queen of bitches. She framed Kory by putting drugs into her locker! We're in here because Wally and I were not letting the cops take her without a fight."

Jason's eyes seemed to grow a little darker as he sat up. "Drugs? Was it cocaine?"

Kory squinted her eyes,"Why do you want to know? "

"Just answer."

"Yes, I believe it was."

Jason leaned against the wall and mumbled to himself silently. Kory bit her lip and looked at Wally as he smiled at her and patted her back comfortingly.

"Don't worry Legs. Soon we'll clear your name and get you out."

Artemis smiled and nodded at her. She reached across Wally and grabbed Kory's hand. "We'll make her pay."

"Y'all are good friends." Rose commented at the scene. The three glanced at her as she continued,"I don't have friends like you guys. I'm more of a girl who stays to herself and keeps quiet, but I know when I see a good friendship."

Kory smiled at Rose. "Rose do you go to Jump City High? I have never seen you before if so."

Rose laughed and shook her head,"No my dad is the principle of some fancy school for the gifted. I go there."

Jason chuckled and looked at her,"You go to a school for the gifted? Like what?"

Rose smirked proudly and stared him dead in the eyes,"Sword fighting. I've been world champion since I was six."

Jason scrunched his face up and Artemis pointed at Rose,"Wait, school for the gifted? Your dad is the principle of it. Mr. Wilson right?"

Rose rolled her eyes to herself and groaned. "Yup that's my father. Slade Wilson, strict army breaded, psychopathic principle of Hive high."

"Kory! That's the school you applied for with your art!" Artemis connected. Kory's eyes widened and Wally gasped.

"Legs you're trying to leave us?! Does Dickie-boy know?!" Wally squealed. Kory, flustered and red coughed a bit.

"I haven't told him I applied yet. I don't even know if I want to go yet, but it sounds wonderful."

"It's ok." Rose said, "But when I get out of this jail I'll give my dad a good word for you."

Kory smiled and Wally sat silently wondering to himself about how this would play out. Artemis yawned and curled up against Wally as he wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close to him kissing her forehead.

"You sleepy babe?" He asked. She yawned and snuggled into him.

"Mm I'm kinda baywatch." She mumbled. He snickered and looked at Jason who gave him a raised eyebrow.

"Baywatch?" He asked. Wally nodded and smirked at him.

"You jealous?"

Jason snorted and shook his head.

Suddenly, a loud bang of the glass doors in the building opened as inside walked a girl. She was tall, extremely beautiful, rivaling Kory actually, big beautiful teal green-blue like eyes, long red hair, and soft sun kissed skin. She walked confidently with a smirk playing at her lips as she walked to the front desk beside the cell and slammed a stack of papers down with a small tape.

"What's this?" The officer asked, grabbing the materials. She smiled at him and leaned back. She stood in a pair of pants, a simple shirt, and a police jacket.

"It's evidence for my dear client Kory Anders, Wally West, and Artemis Crock." She remarked, glancing at them. Kory eyed her wondering who she was, but Artemis and Wally grinned widely realizing they had help.

"Who are you? And why are you in Jump City if your jacket states that your stationed in Gotham?" The officer asked standing up.

"I'm the commissioner's daughter in Gotham. Barbara Gordon is my name, and I'm here on account to defend these people I've presented for lack of evidence to take them in. If you check the tape you will clearly see that they're innocent. It's the school's security footage."Barbara said as she pointed to the tape in his hands.

The officer eyed her warily as she gave a big smile and he stood, taking the tape to a small area to check it.

"Well if my eyes don't deceive me, is that you Barbie?" Jason asked. Barbara narrowed her eyes at him and walked to the jail cell grabbing onto the bar.

"Jason are you seriously in jail again? Ugh, I should've known you wouldn't change." She frowned. He deflated a bit as Wally stood and walked to her smiling.

"Thanks for the help, Barbara, right?"

She nodded. "Yes sir Wally West."

He smacked his lips. "How'd you know my name?"

"I read you and your friend's files. Don't worry, I had a warrant."

He blushed and mumbled to himself,"I don't know whether to feel violated now or grateful."

Barbara straightened her stance and smiled at Kory, who sat at the bench watching her carefully. "Kory it's nice to meet you. Richard and I were best friends before he moved to Jump City. He brags about you guys all the time in our phone calls. Especially you. It's a pleasure to finally see you in person. "

Kory felt a tinge of jealousy for the strangest of reasons, but as far as she read, Barbara was a good person. She stood up and smiled walking towards the bars of the cell.

"It's nice to meet you Barbara. Can I ask how you found out about us being in jail?"

Barbara laughed and looked at the three."Please, feel free to call me Babs. And your friend Garth said you needed the help."

"Well shit Garth you sly dog!" Wally laughed.

The officer stepped out of an office and called for Barbara. Excusing herself from everyone, she walked towards him and talked.

Rose laughed and glanced at Jason who stood to himself watching her sighing. "You like her, don't you?"

He frowned and looked back at her,"I don't. She's too, too, ugh I don't even know!"

She snickered as he grumbled to himself. Kory smiled at Wally and nudged him. "Wally we might be able to get out!"

He nodded grinning,"Yeah, if Babs can get us out. I'm sure she will though."

"You're free to go!" The officer yelled, coming out from the desk with Babs trailing not so far behind. Artemis breathed in relief, Kory covered her mouth tearing up, and Wally well, Wally just..

"EEEEEEEEEK! YASS!"

Rose, Jason, the officer, Barbara, Kory, and Artemis all looked at Wally as he released the high pitch girlish squeal of excitement. Artemis face palmed and Rose covered her mouth laughing.

"Bro. Not cool." Jason said shaking his head.

Wally raised his arms in defense. "Hey! I'm getting out of jail! Do you know how scared I was? I know what happens when you drop the soap in jail. It's not a pretty thing Jason. It's not!"

Artemis smacked the back of his head emitting a yelp from the red headed lad and Kory to giggle. Babs laughed at the two and grabbed the key opening the cell door letting the three out.

Jason eyed Barbara intensely and she glanced at him once giving him a frown. He sighed as she turned around and Kory looked at Rose with one kind filled smile.

"You will get out soon Rose."

Rose smiled as Babs nodded looking at her. Rose grinned at the redheads, not even knowing Barbara, but admiring the encouragement. "Thanks. I'll see you on the otherside one day. Hell, maybe even soon."

Kory smiled giving her one last look. "Maybe so."

WOOP WOOP! You may scream all you want at me for making you hate me so much, but no I have NOT forgotten any of my stories, but rather the horrible HITATUS. DUN DUN DUN! But now I've got a whole new complicated twist and this story is actually reaching it's end. Yes yes, I said that and mean it. The drama will solve itself out or spike. Who knows? Muhahaha jk. Barbara (OG Batgirl) is actually portrayed badly in most fics, but she's actually an awesome character who's really sweet and nice. Don't worry there won't be a love triangle cause those are stupid and this isn't twilight. (Well shh lowkey forgot about Xavier)

Well follow, favorite, review or all 3! Next chapter Kitten finally pays, Conner and Megan meet again, Babs is new and in town, and why's Jason here?
