A/N: And another new chapter tonight! Enjoy!

Chapter 9: The Camera Man

"Okay, we need to find that family. We need to know about that girl." Danny said to give his partner a moment to breath.

"I got it." Eric said as Kono and Chin walked into the office.

"What did we miss?" Chin asked as he saw the distress in Steve's face.

"A break, but a bad one." Danny answered.

"Did you find the driver?" Toast asked as he looked up.

"Yeah, he's down in the interrogation room. Why is Eric here?" Kono asked.

"I'm helping." Eric said seriously.

"You know him?" Kono asked and pointed at Toast.

"We went to school together."

"So it wasn't a coincidence that you mentioned him?" Kono asked.

"Nope," Toast answered.

"Good to see you Eric, but what is this case about?" Chin asked breaking into the conversation and bringing things back around to the task at hand.

"I'll let them explain. You said you found the driver? Let me at him." Steve stated and almost rushed out of the bullpen.

"Whoa big guy, wait. He says he didn't kill Johnny Tao and we believe him." Chin jumped in. "But he did say he saw someone and could identify him."

"You get the low down from the MIT kids and Steve and I will take the surveillance footage to the driver to see if he can't point us in the right direction." Danny ordered as he took control of the situation. "Eric, find the girl. Toast, work that blogger. When I get back I want names!" Danny added and stepped aside to let the frustrated Navy SEAL lead the way.

"You gonna be able to be objective?" Danny asked his partner the minute they were out of the office and alone on their way to the basement. "Take a couple of breaths."

"I don't want to jump to conclusions," Steve said as he slowed down and breathed as Danny had told him. "That's what got us into this in the first place."

"This isn't our fault." Danny said strongly.

"But a child should not have died and been forgotten like that." Steve said.

"I know, and if we're wrong and this lead is as dead as the rest of them then we should reach out to the family at the very least."

"I agree." Steve nodded. "But I don't think this is a dead end. I have a feeling this is the reason why we're finding these bodies. The bread crumbs are there."

"I know, I feel it too but I'm worried that no matter what we do, it's too late in this case."

Steve sighed heavily.

"No one else needs to die today, but I don't think that's for us to decide.

"Oh my God." Kono gasped as she came to the same realization as Steve and Danny had after being told what Toast and Eric had found out. Chin simply shook his head and lowered his eyes. "What can we do to help?" She asked when silence had fallen in the bullpen.

"I need some time to work this hack." Toast admitted. "The encryption on this blog is made to keep the writer's secrets."

"Do whatever you've got to do." Kono stated.

"I could use a little local knowledge and back ground to help me find this mysterious little girl." Eric piped in and Chin perked up.

"I'll scan the obituaries for the time around the articles. She's bound to be there."

"I'll look for more articles and police reports. Hopefully someone was paying attention." Kono added.

"We'll find her." Eric smiled and dove back into his work.

"Welcome to the team Mr. Beale." Kono said in her best Hetty voice.

"So, Wallace, can I call you that?" Danny asked as he and Steve walked into the holding cell and found the young man cowering in a corner.

"I recognize you." Steve said by way of a greeting. "You're always the first one on the scene."

"That's how Johnny liked it. I'm sorry if I was a pain. I was just following orders." Wallace almost pleaded for forgiveness as he caught the flash of anger in the Navy SEAL's eyes.

"You are so much younger than I expected. How does a young man like you get paired up with a big wig like Johnny Tao?" Danny asked as he turned on his interrogation persona.

"I like to think that it's because I'm good at what I do, but who am I kidding. It's because my mom has been a long time employee of the Douglass Media Company and she's well liked by everyone. I graduated from college at the top of my class, Johnny needed a new camera man, and Ma pulled some strings and got me in. I was fresh faced, green, and Johnny knew he could make me into exactly the kind of camera man he wanted." Wallace explained.

"And how long have you been his camera man?" Danny asked.

"I started in september of 2010. I'd graduated in the spring and I'd been looking for a job all summer long because, contrary to popular belief, I was trying to get myself out there and I didn't want people to think that I needed my mother's help."

"So you were new to everything including Five-O?" Danny asked and there was disappointment in his tone.

"Well, I'd known who you were. At the time Five-O was still becoming the big ticket and Johnny was obsessed with you guys. I was a fan before I became a stalker."

"A stalker?" Danny asked skeptically.

"That's what it feels like most days." Wallace admitted.

"Why did Johnny need a new camera man?" Steve asked getting into the interrogation.

"Well, his old one, Buddy, quit in late july - early august - of 2010."

"Is it common for camera men to just up and quit?"

"No, not really, but it does happen in some instances. From what I understand, Johnny and Buddy had it out over one particular story and Buddy quit because he wasn't going to follow blindly anymore. He was nearing retirement age anyway. You get warned as a new kid by your peers, you know. Keep you head straight but don't piss off the boss. I was told early on in the job to follow Johnny's orders and to let him do his thing. I didn't always agree with him but I kept my head down and we got along. I guess Buddy just had enough of turning a blind eye. Johnny never spoke of Buddy and I never brought it up because, rumour had it, it was a huge fight and Johnny Tao never loses."

"He lost today." Danny spat.

"Where is Buddy now?" Steve asked.

"I don't know. I never met the man. Retired, living on the island would be my best guess." Wallace answered.

Danny and Steve exchanged a nervous kind of look.

"Kono said you were sure you saw someone leaving the van. I'm going to show you some pictures. Please try and see if you can spot that man." Danny said as he handed Wallace a tablet. "You're young. I'm sure you know how these things work."

Wallace nodded and fell silent as he scrolled through the footage.
