"Want some apples?"
Valeria put down her knife, offering some apples to Historia. But as always, the girl didn't reply.
"You will be moved in two days. It maybe a long trip." - The redhead continued saying.
The door was suddenly opened and Kaney entered.
"Kaney?" - Valeria asked him, wondering why he was here.
"Mikasa." - He ignored her and ordered Mikasa, looking at Historia.
Mikasa grabbed Historia's arms and easily dragged her out to Kaney.
"What are you doing?!" - Valeria shouted.
"Change of plans." - Kaney calmly said.
"Change? What change? The plan is in two days, at night."
"Well it's today, right now."
"It's afternoon!"
"So?" - Kaney ignored her and left with Mikasa and Historia.
When Valeria wanted to run after, two guards stood in front of her, in the new 3DMG.
"Sorry miss. I can't let you leave."
"You fucking-" - She cursed "At least tell me what is he planning!"
"We don't know."
"Really? Do I look that dumb?"
"No, we really don't know. He just told us to keep you out."
"Damn it!"
Mikasa dragged Historia to a warehouse not so far away from the mansion, but was well covered by the trees and bushes.
As Historia was thrown in, she saw Reiss sitting inside.
"A carriage will arrive and took you to a safter place. From this house, you can head straight to your other mansion by a secret path." - Kaney explained "Nobody knows about this, so no secrets will get leaked out."
"Where is that mansion?" - Historia asked.
"We can't tell you. In fact we'll blindfold you on the way there." - Mikasa said.
"Why are you doing this?" - Reiss looked at Kaney "I wasn't informed about this."
"It was a secret plan." - Mikasa answered "Only a few know about this."
"I'm doing this for your own good." - Kaney grunted "The carriage will come soon."
Suddenly a loud explosion was heard coming from the mansion. Kaney looked at it and saw smoke rising up.
"What the fuck is that?" - He shouted.
"They attacked." - Mikasa said.
Soon, another bombing happened. This time it was bigger.
In the same time, a man riding a carriage showed up.
"Seth, take Reiss and Historia amd get out fast. I'll hold them." - Kaney ordered, as pulling Reiss and Historia out of the warehouse and urged them to get into the carriage "Go!"
Seth hit the horse and started to depart. Kaney watched the carriage for few minutes to make sure there were no ambush, then headed back to the mansion.
"I have to check out on Reiss."
The lady said as running frantically to Reiss' room. But as the door was fast opened, nobody was inside.
"Where is Reiss?" - She screamed "Did they get him?"
"We'll search the entire mansion right away!" - The guards and maids around her departed.
After everybody left, the scare on her face disappeared, or to be correct, was replaced by strange smile.
"Valeria!"
She turned back and saw Kaney running towards her.
"Why are the guards running like idiots everywhere?" - He grunted.
"They thought Reiss is taken by Levi. I tried to calm them down but since I can't expose the plan, my explanation was unconvincing. "
"Damn it. Was anybody hurt in the bombing?"
"Maybe a few guards."
"I'll check that place."
"Where's Mikasa? And had Seth departed yet? If anything happens to Reiss, I'll kill you for rushing the plan."
"They're fine. Mikasa is gathering the staffs and guards."
"What should I do then?"
"Just ... don't get in my way. Go to Mikasa or stay in your room."
"You old man." - She cursed him a few more words before storming out of the hallway.
- Levi's squad Point Of View -
[Two days ago]
"Levi, why are you so sure that this plan will work?"
His squad looked at him. Though only one person spoke up, the rest were thinking the same.
"You have so much confidence, the same back when we rescued Eren." - Jean continued "You just told us to defeat the guards and Eren will run out himself. How do you know he will escape? At the exact time?"
"Is Mikasa a spy?" - Sasha asked.
"She can't. Because she didn't know about my plan." - Eren said "And she seemed pretty genuine about wanting to know more about her last name."
"I was with Levi the whole time. After Mikasa left, there was no sign of contact between them. So she can't be a spy." - Petra said.
Cutting in the conversation, Levi let out a sigh.
"Did the last mission succeed?"
"Yes, sir." - Jean answered.
"Then I know what I'm doing. Proceed with the next plan. We'll head out tomorrow."
"Yes...sir."
[One day ago]
After finding two Military Police members: Marlo and Hitch, the squad caught them and forced them to exchange equipment.
They seemed to be around the same age as the squad.
Clueless as they were, they knew nothing about Annie being a titan. They had wrong thoughts about Annie's disappearence. But they did truly care about her.
Marlo was an idiot, the same as we-know-who. Though, it was a good kind of idiot. An idiot that demanded for justice.
They offered to help, which made the plan proceeded even smoothlier.
As Military Police, they had stupid orders to protect the rich. So they knew about Reiss' manor.
But the manor was not the squad's aim. It was a small warehouse not so far away that was suspicious.
They checked, it was empty. But it was clean, which was strange. Two chairs were the only things inside, placed in the middle.
The squad went back outside and got ready for action.
[Two hours ago]
In the cable, Seth took out his beloved horse and tied it to the carriage, ready for his mission.
"Stand still!"
He turned around and saw Jean pointing a gun at him.
Seth put his hand in his pocket, was about to take out his gun while glaring at Jean. Suddenly he felt something on his forehead. It was Sasha, with her gun aimed for his brain.
"Don't move."
At that moment, Connie and Jean got inside the carriage.
"Be a good boy and stay silence. Or else." - Sasha made a small move around the trigger, causing a small but terrifying sound.
She kept her gun pointing at him until he had sat on the horse and began riding the vehicle.
"We can shoot you from inside. So you'd better not saying unnecessary thing." - A voice echoed from inside the carriage.
Seth did not say any word but gave a small nod.
[One hour ago]
The carriage arrived at the warehouse. Kaney urged Reiss and Historia into it.
Historia widened her eyes seeing Jean and Connie inside, both put their finger on their lips, signing to stay silence.
Jean then put a knife around Reiss' neck, to keep him quiet as well.
The wheels started rolling and left the place.
"Fewh. Glad that they didn't check inside first." - Connie sighed out.
"There were bombing. It was pretty frantic. They must forget to." - Jean said.
"Who caused the bombing anyway?" - Connie talked while tying Reiss up.
"Wait, you guys didn't do it?" - Historia asked.
"No. We don't have any explosion."
"Then where are the rest? Levi and Sasha?"
"They are checking inside the manor."
[At the present]
"Levi what are we doing in here?" - Sasha asked.
"Looking for something."
"What exactly?"
"Have you noticed Eren's key?"
"And?"
"It's fake."
"What?!"
"Armin confirmed it. The shape was different."
"Why didn't Eren tell us?"
"Probably he didn't notice himself. They might have traded while he was asleep."
"I see. How can we find it now?"
"Just follow me."
Levi led her to a room at the corner of the manor. It was in the bombing area so everybody had escaped from the place. Thanked to them for being such coward, the place was empty.
"It's locked." - Sasha examined the door.
"I didn't bring you for nothing. You broke in the food storage everytime. I heard you stole meat back when you were a trainee."
"That was embarrassing! Don't remind it. Fine, I'll try." - She pouted but began her little trick anyway "Ok. I think it works "
Levi pushed the door and it opened.
"Nice work." - Levi praised her as stepping in.
Suddenly they heard loud footsteps running towards them.
"Hide behind the wall."
Levi ordered and they both stood against the wall near the door, closing it. It became locked again.
Kaney arrived and rushed to the room.
"Still locked. No sign of being destroyed." - Kaney thought "They haven't come to this room yet."
Just in case, he took out a key and opened the door, seeing Eren's key was still perfectly placed in the middle.
The door covered up Levi and Sasha as they both holding their breath.
"I should take it." - Kaney murmured.
He was about to step in and take the key but he soon felt a bullet coming his way.
He dodged it just in time and turned back.
"Who was it?" - He shouted and took out his gun from the new 3DMG he wore.
Just as he turned back, another shot was made and hit his thigh.
The gunner was a figure in black coat covering up his whole face and body.
He soon escaped after his second shot. Kaney chased after him.
"I still haven't paid back your shots the other day." - He remembered his fight with Levi and this shooter interrupted as well.
As soon as Kaney left, Levi rushed to Eren's key and took it. He seemed to take something other than the letter as well, as Sasha noticed. But she figured it was the best if she wouldn't ask.
"Let's go. The carriage should be at the meeting point by now." - Sasha urged and both left the room.
"Stop right there!" - Kaney aimed his gun at the black-cloak figure. But it soon ran so quickly as if it knew the manor well. In the end, it disappeared after a few turning points.
"Could it be a spy?" - Kaney thought "Valeria can't even hold a gun right, Mikasa hasn't known the manor well. Probably not Keith. Matt, Ryan can't be as well."
After his clueless predictions, Kaney decided it would be the best to head to Mikasa's place. She was gathering the staffs after all.
He arrived and saw a huge crowd. Standing in the middle was Mikasa.
"Kaney. Is everything alright?" - Mikasa asked.
"There is a spy among us." - He said.
"What?" - Mikasa, and the staffs, gasped.
"I just saw one. Did anybody leave this place?"
"No. The staffs are all here. Nobody left."
"What about Valeria?"
"She's sitting right there." - Mikasa pointing to a figure in a nearby corner, covered by a red cloak, shining with some gold details on it. Kaney started to feel irritated by how much money did Reiss spend on that cloak to please his mistress. Red was her favorite color, since it matched her hair.
"Red-hood." - He called out.
"What?" - She pulled down the cloak and greeted him in an irritated tone.
"Did you leave this place?"
"What are you implying? I come here right after you told me to."
"Is she telling the truth?" - Kaney turned back to Mikasa and the staffs.
"Lady Valeria didn't leave that corner for a second. I can prove." - A maid spoke up.
"Me too. She was sitting there the whole time." - A guard raised his hand.
"Seriously Kaney. I'm tired of your doubting games. Stop letting you imagination run wild." - Valeria grunted.
"Fine fine, sorry. There was a spy with a gun and -"
"Gun? I can't even hold one properly."
"Yeah. I can recall you drop the gun on my foot when you can't hold it."
"Then stop making me a culprit. Sheesh."
"But if there's a spy in the house, this is serious."
"Are you sure it's a spy, not just a member of Levi's squad?"
"He knows the manor pretty well."
"I see. But none of the staffs here is possible to be that person."
"This is not all of them. Some is still missing since the bombing."
"Could be one of them. Tell the staffs to find throughout the palace."
"OK." - Kaney sighed, but ordered the staffs anyway.
The guards and maids started running different ways, to different rooms, different corners of the manor to find a suspicious person.
Kaney followed them as well, leaving Valeria and Mikasa.
"Mikasa." - Valeria just looked at Mikasa, not saying a word more.
Seemed like understanding something, Mikasa nodded and left.
woahhh my chapters lately are all over 2000 words.
Explanation for all of the weird stuffs happening will be in chapter 27. But I figure with all the hint you can guess the outcome, haha.
