In Loving Memory

Stephen Richard Proudfoot

October 11th 1957-May 2nd 1998

Stephen Richard Proudfoot, 41, of London, passed away May 2nd 1998 during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Stephen was born in the tiny city of Mould-on-the-Wold on October 11th of 1957. His proud parents, Marion nee Cadwallader and Arnold Proudfoot named him Stephen after his great grandfather, the famed Stephen T. Proudfoot of the Arrows Quidditch team. Little Stephen joined two older sisters, Margaret "Peggy" (Howell) and Susanne (Prince) and was thrilled when, five years later, his little brother Paul joined the family.

Stephen attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Ravenclaw house. While at school he received a prefectship and later graduated as one of the top students of his class. Never content to settle, Stephen decided to become an auror and join the fight against You-Know-Who as he rose to power in the 1970s. During that time Stephen met and married his bride of twenty three years, Alexa Morgan who was working in the Department of Magical law enforcement. Together, the couple had two children, Sarah (Burns) born in 1977 and Rachel born in 1982. Stephen enjoyed a long and successful career working at the ministry, eventually transferring to a senior desk position in the Auror office.

The policy changes of the last year greatly raddled Stephen and he began to work to subvert the Ministry and the Death Eaters who were controlling the Ministry's actions. This determination to follow his conscience led him to his death when, on May 2nd, he became determined to aid those trapped on the Hogwarts school grounds, fighting for their lives. According to all accounts, Stephen conducted himself with the utmost grace and talent befitting an esteemed auror and saved many lives that night. He has been posthumously awarded and Order of Merlin First Class along with the others who perished that night for their bravery.

Stephen is survived by his parents, his wife and daughters as well as his siblings and nine nieces and nephews. His memorial service will be held at St. Cyprian's at 5:00 on the 13th.
