Hi guys :p note that half of this chapter is written BEFORE chapter 60 of the manga is out, and half is AFTER.

so of course it might be different from the manga ( wait, not "might", but a lot different)

I hope you guys enjoy this story so far. this story is getting really really long with 28 chapters, and I'm starting to get really busy. I'll try to find time but I can't make promises. I'm a 12th grader now, so college preparation for the entire year.

i'm writing chapter 29 but the application keeps shutting off, so I have to rewrite it (which will take plenty of time. gosh I'm starting to hate Quick Office)

enough complaining, enjoy my story.

"Where's Reina?"

"She's resting inside. I just got the bullet out. It got in pretty deep."

Hanji and Levi exchanged small talk while walking to the squad.

"Reiss still doesn't spill a thing." - Jean reported.

"May take sometimes, I guess." - Connie rubbed his head "Anyway, Levi, can I ask..."

"Say it." - Levi answered.

"Who is Reina exactly? I know you show us her letter, which was amazing, so I want to know who is she."

"She was about Petra's age. She graduated sooner than Petra one year. She was ranked 3rd in her class, only because her physical score was low. She chose the Scouting Legion instead of Military Police and had helped us ever since." - Levi explained.

"Wow..."

"She volunteered to be a spy and had gone to this mission for years. She's one smart ass so she was not discovered, even by Kaney." - Hanji continued "We helped her to create a fake identity."

"Nobody recognized her?" - Sasha asked.

"She did quite an image change after graduation."

"I see. A wonder woman, isn't she... She must have a great aim to go such length for the mission." - Jean commented.

"Actually her reason was not "great" at all." - Hanji chuckled.

"What do you mean?"

"Hanji, don't spill other person's personal things without their permission." - Levi grunted.

"Okay okay. Sorry kids."

Eren stepped outside and saw a figure sitting on the doorway. It was past midnight so he wondered who was still awake.

"Valeria? I mean... Reina?"

"Oh hi Eren." - She turned back.

"What are you doing at this hours?"

"The medicine, I can't sleep."

"I see. Thanks again for taking the bullet for Mikasa."

"No need to thank me. Sit down, you seemed to not able to sleep as well."

"I almost die after all." - He laughed and sat down "I'm sorry for treating you like shit when you were Valeria."

"Actually because of that, Kaney didn't doubt me at all."

"To think you have to completely change yourself to a bitter lady, making people hate you, I admire your sacrifice. I heard your stories from Levi but that's not all of it, right? Mikasa won't tell me as well."

"Yeah it's an embarrassing reason."

"What reason then?"

"Okay Eren. How about I told you a story and you guess the answer?"

"...fine."

"There was a girl. She worked at a bar with her sister. Her days were boring, meaningless. Until there were two guys, soon to be graduatees. They talked about what choice should they choose. At first, both agreed to join the Scouting Legion together. The girl admired their aim, she started thinking about the titans out there and soon realized all this time she was a bird living in a cage."

"Same thought as me. People are caged birds behind these walls." - Eren commented.

"Later on, one of the man proposed to her sister, and her sister said yes. His best friend came to the bar and got drunk, since he was in love with her sister as well. The girl comforted him, but he told her another reason that he was so sad. Her brother-in-law broke their promises and joined the Military Police. The girl was angry and confronted her sister. Seemed like the condition her sister made when he proposed was he had to join the MP. Her sister wanted to be a wife of an MP, living inside Wall Sina. The girl was so angry. At her sister's wedding, the girl slapped her sister for being such a bitch and she never visited her sister again. She left the bar and joined the Trainee Corps. After graduation, she met the guy who was heartbroken because of her sister again. He was now the captain of Scouting Legion. She volunteered to be spy, changed her look and got a new identity."

She finished her story. Eren looked at her, trying to find right words to speak.

"Great story huh." - Reina smiled.

"Your sister's husband... He's the head of the general MP right? He was... Erwin's best friend, Nile Dok if I remembered right."

"Correct. You're not so dumb after all."

"Erwin used to love your sister?"

"Yes, but he loved the Scouting Legion more. That's why he didn't give up his dream for her."

"You haven't seen your sister since?"

"I met her once, as Valeria. She had a kid, so as Reiss' mistress I have to go and congratulate her."

"She didn't recognize you?"

"Maybe she did doubt, but I acted like a complete stranger so she didn't ask anything."

"How? You became an aunt and the baby was right in front of you?"

"Cuz' I hate my sister. I don't need her or her children. Anyway, I told you the story. What's your answer? Why I went such length?"

"... You are in love with Erwin."

"...correct." - She took a bottle next to her and started drinking.

"I'm in love with Mikasa. I know that feeling, wanting to risk everything for her."

"Yeah you did accept her bullet." - Reina laughed, then offering Eren her bottle "Want some?"

"What is that?"

"Alcohol."

"No no. I'll pass. I drank it once from Pixis and it sucks."

"He gave me my first glass of wine too. That drunk old man always tried to make kids drink alcohol. But don't worry, this had milk."

"Fine..."

Eren grabbed the bottle and drank a little bit.

"It actually... tastes fine."

"My new recipe."

"Anyway, does...Erwin knew about your feelings?"

"Yes."

"And what did he say?"

"He said I was an idiot and didn't want me to risk my life for him. Not like I listened though."

"Is there any chance he feels the same?"

"When I last spoke to him as Reina... I think he doesn't. Before my mission, there was a son of a rich business man proposed to me and Erwin told me to say yes. But of course I said no and went with the mission anyway."

"I can feel stubborness in your blood."

"Then we may share the same blood since you are as stubborn as me."

"Reina... There's something I had to say."

"What?"

"I'm sorry...about Erwin's arm."

"... Why? It's not your fault."

"If I didn't get captured then he wouldn't have lost it."

"Damn it Eren. Stop blaming yourself for things that are not your fault. Erwin's lost arm is NOT your fault, neither is Mikasa's scar. Don't say sorry."

"I can't help feeling guilty about it. Levi had a scar now as well. They risk everything for me and yet... I can't even crystalize."

"Eren...you have to know who you are to release your true power. You don't trust yourself, you think people sacrificing for you is meaningless. But it's not. You are important. If this is a fairy tale then you are the hero, and we are just supporting characters. You kill the monster and save the village and get the princess. You are the hero. A limb, a bone, even our lives, are devoted to you, so we don't mind losing anything."

"The heroes, they know what they are doing. I don't."

"Every hero has a starting point. It's not when the hero acquire his strength, but when the hero knows how to use it and what to use it for. You are figuring it out, and I believe you can find it."

"You are...pretty wise and deep. Like someone that lives for hundred years."

"Well I read tons of books and met all kind of people. Have a drink and calm down." - She offered him the bottle again.

"Thanks." - Eren took a slip "But the titans are humans. I don't even know who are our enemies now."

"The final boss, either showed up for the first time at the end of the story, or had already appeared at some point but hero didn't realize."

"I just want all of this to end. If I'm the hero of a fairy tale, I'm pretty sure I've met my princess and I want to spend the rest of my life with her."

"Young love. Always so beautiful. Hey kid, let's make a promise. When you marry your dream girl, I want to sing at your wedding and make a toast."

"Fine then."

"Pinky swear."

"How old are you again... Thirty?"

"Pinky swear!" - Reina pouted.

"Okay okay. Pinky swear." - Eren hooked his finger with hers.

"Make Mikasa happy or I'll kill you. And I'm not joking. That girl went through too much already."

"Yes madam."

Mikasa woke up and went out to check out everyone. Petra was serving tea for Levi as usual. Eren and Jean was arguing about something that she didn't care. Connie did care enough to sit there and listen though.

Reina showed up with Historia.

"Hey everyone. Check out these braids!" - Reina pushed Historia up, showing that the blond girl had a double-braid headband.

"She forced them on me." - Historia mumbled.

"But you do look cute, right?" - Reina pinched Historia's cheek.

"If you had so much free time, go question Reiss. He haven't spilled anything at all." - Levi grunted.

"I know. Bring him here, we'll question him together."

"Ok. But you'd better make him talk soon because Hanji had already prepared her torturing tools."

Few minutes later, the guys brought Reiss out. Reiss was tied to a chair, with a cloth in his mouth.

"Hey there." - Reina pulled the cloth out.

"What do you want?"

"I need answers. Why do you want to catch Eren? What was it for?"

"Why I had to tell you, you traitor?"

"First, I'm not a traitor since I was a spy from the start. Second, unless you want a tooth or an eye missing, you'd better answer."

"No. Kaney will rescue me. I will not say anything."

Reina sighed and glanced at Levi. Levi gave her a death stare as a sign for "Hurry up" and she rolled her eyes. She pulled Historia's hand and made her stand in front of Reiss.

Suddenly Reiss widened his eyes, body shaking.

"You bitch, you planned this, didn't you?" - Reiss shouted at Reina.

"Plan what? What does he mean?" - Historia asked.

"Your mother. There was a drawing of her in Reiss' room. She had the same hairstyle that you are having now." - Reina explained.

"My...mother...?"

"I will not spill anything!" - Reiss resisted.

"Let's think for a few seconds. I have in my brains all of the things that could completely destroy you, not just this." - Reina smirked "Like your secret house in Wall Rose, the one that your beloved mother is living. Or your benefit money from hiding mobsters and traffickers."

"How do you know about them?!"

"I wasn't just brushing my hair and playing dress up around you all the years, dear. Levi, start questioning."

Levi stood up, put his cup of tea down and walked towards Reiss.

"Okay Reiss. Why did you kidnap Eren? Rumor that you want to ... eat him?" - Levi began.

Reiss kept his mouth shut, eyes averting away from Levi.

"Your mother was very kind. She loves her garden so much. Now, what if when she visits her garden, someone attacked?" - Reina said, as the color on Reiss' face started to drain "Or her house could be burned up. What a tragic accident."

"DON'T TOUCH HER!" - Reiss screamed "Fine! I'll tell you. Because Eren was the most completed titan shifter!"

"Most completed?" - Levi asked.

"Tell us the full stories, now, or I swear to god I'll bring you your mother's head to you tomorrow." - Reina said with a straight face. Not just Reiss, everyone was taken back by her statement.

"DON'T YOU DARE!" - Reiss yelled.

"Then, talk." - She continued.

"It started thousand years ago. The Reiss, as the royal family, had to figure out a way to protect everyone from the titans. Then the plan of building the walls came up. However, humans can't build 50-meter walls, so a project was born. In the project, the scientists made potion that turned humans to titans. There were many errors back then though, like the shifters soon died, or went crazy. Failed experiments were sent outside the walls and formed a village." - Reiss explained.

"That must be where Annie and the others came from." - Levi said.

"As a Reiss, I had to continue the project. I had to gather the best doctors, scientists and made a more completed potion. The captain was a doctor named Grisha."

"Grisha?" - Eren interrupted.

"What's wrong?" - Reina looked at him.

"That's Eren's father." - Mikasa, noticing her boyfriend was shaking, decided to answer instead.

"That's right, Grisha Jaeger. He refused to join at first but I promised to provide facilities for his medicine to cure a disease in Wall Maria, so he accepted." - Reiss continued.

"The deadly disease back then, I've heard of it. Thanks to him, countless lives were saved." - Petra joined in.

"After the fall of Wall Maria, he stole the newest potion sample and infected it to his son. We lost him and the sample, so the project went to a dead end. Until Eren showed up, we figured if we had him, we could continue." - Reiss finished "That's all. Let me go!"

"Not yet, honey." - Reina gave false smile and snapped her fingers "Jean, Connie, take him back to the basement."

The two boys followed the orders, happily that she now used their names, not "horse-faced" and "baldhead" anymore.

"Hanji, I'm sure you have some private matters that you want to ask him. Get your torturing tools and go." - Reina said "And here, take this, it'll be very useful."

Reina gave Hanji a flower brooch.

"What is this?" - The four-eyed asked.

"His mother's, some kind of family traditional jewelry. Put some blood on it and scare him."

"How the hell did you get it?" - Petra asked.

"I...got my ways." - Reina answered.

"Scary woman." - Levi murmured.

"Thanks then. I'll leaving after this. I had a plan with Flegel to expose the truth behind Rebbs' death." - Hanji took the brooch.

"Please...succeed." - Reina said.

"I'll try my best."

The next morning, Levi woke up and headed to the hallroom.

"Hanji and Reina had left." - Mikasa informed.

"Why Reina left?"

"She sneaked out, so we don't know."

"Levi! This is bad!" - Eren burst in and yelled "They found us!"

"They?"

"The central MPs. They are waiting to ambush us outside!"

"Jean, Sasha, take Reiss here. Connie, get to the attic, there's a window, count the enemies. Mikasa, Historia, prepare the guns. Armin, think of a way out. Petra, stay with Eren." - Levi quickly reacted and gave out orders, before rushing alone to a room.

Reina blended in with the eyewitnesses. She looked down and saw a few MPs cornering a guy.

She couldn't hear clearly but seemed like the central MP confessed to have killed Rebbs and they wanted to kill his son as well, to shut him up.

Then Hanji and her subordinates showed up, beating the MPs. The citizens around decided to trust the Survey Corps after clearing such huge misunderstanding.

However, Reina knew herself, this would not save Erwin. She sneaked out of the crowded and left.

Ok that's it. Thank you again for reading. I really don't want to write out the cornering plans, I'm already tired and have not too many times.

Uhmm so I connect Reina to an true story. If you remember, Erwin and Nile had a conversation about Marie (Nile's wife) and their past. Erwin admitted he loves Marie as well but decided to choose his dreams over her.

i, myself, was really pissed at that scene because Nile chose MP for "love". So Reina was one of my ways to convert my view.
