A/N: I did a little research into the Hale as I was getting ready to write this chapter. I don't know how reputable the sources were (god I sound like such a historian) so if there are discrepancies in my understand of the place in general. I apologize. The history isn't really that important anyway - or maybe it is.
Happy 4th of July!
Chapter 14: Symbol Of Justice.
"I'm really sorry, I wish I could give you more imformation." Tazmine Hilo explained as Danny and Steve stood with her in the real-estate office. They had found her name on the sign in front of McKeller's, sold, house and were now with her in the office as Steve's phone started to ring.
"I've got to take this." Steve said and moved toward the hallway.
"So he wasn't looking for another place?" Danny asked the agent once Steve had stepped out of the room.
"No, he said he was moving on. Something about a sister, or a sister of a cousin, on the mainland. Most of his things were sold right after the house was viewed and the buyers had signed off on the house. We helped to arrange the sale. We usually do estate sales for people but this was different. He said he wanted to get rid of whatever he couldn't carry on the plane with him. He took a few nicknacks and clothing and that was all. I was shocked, to be honest, with the amount of stuff he left behind." Tazmine explained.
"So he shared plans with you to leave the islands?" Danny asked for clarifications sake.
"Yes, his wife was dying in the hospital when we started the process. I figured that the man was distraught, that he would come around in the end, but we did all we could to facilitate the process. Things didn't change when his wife died. He had a beautiful celebration of her life, the house was viewed two days later and his daughter is gone as well. He said it was going to be too painful to stay. I understand what he means, but when the sale was finalized he told us to donate the money to a children's charity in his daughter and late wife's name. We did as he wished, but wouldn't you want that money to re-establish yourself in your new home?"
"It does sound suspicious. So he left it all, all of the money that is?" Danny asked.
"The money for the sale of all his belongings. I should have been clearer. He took the money - after all was said and done - for the house."
"I see. I guess he wasn't a sentimental guy."
"Or maybe too sentimental?" Tazmine asked.
Danny nodded.
"In any case, I gave him a few names of colleagues on the mainland, and I wished him luck in the future. That was the last I saw of him."
"You did everything you could," Danny said with a nod as Steve came back and he looked troubled. "Did he leave you contact information?"
"No, he came to us and when I asked if I could get ahold of him he said he didn't want to be apart of this, that it would be too hard, and we set up a time for him to be back. He told us to accept the first offer we got for the house, again, odd, but honoured his wishes and he was happy to see the house move so quickly. He took the money for the house. We sold off his things, he told us in one final meeting where the sale money would go and I haven't seen him since. I could look into our security records, if you like, to show you when he was here."
"That wont be necessary." Danny said with a shake of his head as Steve looked anxious.
"We've got to go." Steve stated in an aside to his partner.
"I thank you, Miss. Hilo. We'll be in touch." Danny said with a smile as he tapped the woman's business card on the back of his other hand and then followed Steve out of the office.
"Call me if you need anything," Tazmine stated cheerfully with a wave and went back to whatever it was she had been occupied with before the Five-Os had arrived.
"Are you gonna fill me in?" Danny asked when he and Steve were alone once more.
"Security at the Hale have activated the emergency evacuation system. Duke called while I was on the other line with the security staff. He says SWAT was responding to a bomb threat in our building. Chin and Kono aren't answered their phones and I can't get through to the office and Toast or Eric either." Steve blurted out as he moved quickly through the agency.
"Not another bomb." Danny whined with aggravation in his tone.
"It's probably for us."

Colin McKeller showed up at the Palace in the early morning hour and watched as the business day began and the world started to wake up guarded over by the King across the street. Here, in this central location, the history of the law and the monarchs were kept, and here was where Five-O resided.
He watched from a distance as the Five-Os arrived, as the media vans moved into place and again as Danny and Steve climbed into the Camaro and left again. Just a regular day when Five-O was on a big flashy case. He was waiting for his moment, biding his time and when he was certain he's had the best audience, he walked right through the front doors of the Ali'iolani Hale and set off all of the security alarms.

"Not this way," Chin stated as he jumped away from the second floor railing before he was seen. He stopped his counter parts in their path and back tracked through the crowd that moved along the designated evacuation route.
"What is it Chin?" Kono asked suspiciously.
"McKeller is down in the lobby." Chin stated. "He's the bomb. You two get out the back way." he said to Eric and Toast as they reached the office again. "Go down the back stairs and through the basement service entrance. The way we bring in all our fugitives for questioning."
"It's the same way I arrived yesterday because there wasn't any getting into the building through the front with all the commotion!" Toast explained.
"Isn't Wallace still down in the holding cell?" Kono asked.
"He wouldn't leave." Chin stated and cursed under his breath. "Come on, we've got to get the lot of you out of here and to safety."

"You should go." Colin McKeller said to the security officers as the emergency sirens wailed in the lobby of the historical building. "I don't want to hurt anyone else. I've made my point. All I want now is Five-O and justice." He explained with a gun in one hand and his finger on the trigger of the bomb that was strapped to his chest.
"What would killing Five-O do?" one officer asked as several others hesitated before remaining with their weapons drawn.
"I'm not here to kill them. I'm here to make an example of them. I'm here to show these islands how corrupted and blind justice really can be. You think that this building represents all the history and good that the law has done but where was justice when my daughter was shot and killed. I want answers and I want people to stop looking at this building and the people within it like they are above the law or making the law. So go, get out and get as far away as you can but leave Five-O to me."

Moving quickly and quietly, Kono and Chin made their way to the basement to retrieve Wallace. The young man was shocked when the door opened and the screaming of alarms flooded in around him.
"What is happening?"
"We've got to evacuate the building." Kono answered and motioned for the man to follow them.
"It's the murderer, isn't it? He's here." Wallace stated as he ran.
Toast and Eric were waiting just beyond the exit as Kono and Chin, and their informant, burst through the door.
"Take him to HPD and wait for our call. Get somewhere safe." Chin ordered the two men.
"What about you?" Toast asked.
"We've got to go and make sure Steve doesn't do anything crazy." Chin answered.
"Yeah, like walked right into this ambush." Kono added with a roll of her eyes.
"He's that dumb?" Wallace asked in shock.
"Yes. You've been following our every move for four years now. You've seen his antics. I'm surprised, you're surprised." Kono said and looked at the man dumbfounded.
"You're right." Wallace said with a shrug as he shook of his shock.
"Now go, be safe and wait for our call." Kono added and pointed down the block to the police precinct.
