"Go!"
Blake focused her eyes on the small screen, making sure her posture was absolutely perfect, back straight and hands resting in her lap before she began. Giving a warm smile and tilting her head to the side, her voice was welcoming and friendly as she addressed the camera.
"Hello, I'm Blake Belladonna, as I'm sure you know. And I'm here now to bring you a very important message regarding...ah...what was it called?"
There was the distinct sound of slapping against a forehead.
"With Fire Comes Shadow you idiot, we've only been over this a million times! It's where we fight this cool Grimm thing and then we slowly fall in love but don't realize that eachother feels the same way and then we FINALLY make out- I mean up to eachother when the-"
A much sharper voice cut the first off abruptly, clearly irritated.
"Did you just reveal most of the entire plot?"
"Uh..."
A short spell of silence, Blakes eyes darting left and right as each person talked.
"Argh, and you call her the idiot?! You better count yourself lucky the author is prone to changing their mind so much!"
Even though she couldn't see it, Blake knew there was a dismissive and awkward hand gesture being used to accompany the apology.
"Ehehehe, you're right, that probably won't even be the plot when we get back to it. But that's not the point, I think Ruby and Weiss get together too and-"
A third voice, not quite as shrill as the second but still agitated came across the air.
"Yaaaaang! We don't know that yet! It's supposed to be about you and Blake!"
"Well, why can't we have more than one? You want it to happen, right?"
Another brief silence.
"If you don't get back to the entire point of this maddening exercise dust help me I may have to kill you."
"Aaaalright, take it easy princess. Keep going, Blake."
Blake gave a polite smile, although she was mentally crying at being left with these hopeless teammates.
"As you may or may not know, everyone has their ups and downs when creating things, whether they be wonderful pieces of artwork, gripping pieces of fiction or in a certain someone's case, making a mess of my bed."
She gave a dry smile at something out of view, hearing the faint cry of "It was an accident!" and an insufferable snickering in the darkness.
"So with this in mind, we've took it upon ourselves to inform you, the reader, that With Fire Comes Shadow will be on a temporary hiatus. This means that-"
"Aaaaawwwwwwwww..."
"Yang, please, for the love of all that is holy, shut up and let Blake finish!"
That was undoubtedly a pout, but Blake did her best to ignore her partners incompetence and continue explaining.
"This means that there will be no updates to this story for the time being, and as unfortunate as that is you shouldn't worry! This is still an ongoing project and as such will never simply fade away. Who knows, you may just find yourself with a huge update one morning, wouldn't that be exciting? So please, don't despair and instead look forward to something else that you enjoy. A cat, for instance, or some of the other incredible stories that you can find!"
"Like White Roses and Crimson Gold and Coffee with-mmmph!"
This time Ruby was cut off mid-sentence, no doubt by Yang physically tackling her to the floor and clamping a hand over her mouth if the loud thud was anything to go by. Blake closed her eyes and took a deep breath, ignoring the commotion and doing her best to stay calm.
"In other words, don't expect any new chapters regarding this fiction for a while. The author will no doubt explain a little further than this frankly useless script I was given,-"
"Hey! My script is awesome!"
Blake shook her head, paying the claim no attention.
"And I think that about finishes it. Let's see if I can sum this up without being interrupted."
She cleared her throat and tried again, amber eyes twinkling.
"There will be no new updates regarding this story for an undetermined amount of time because the author, in their no doubt endless wisdom, has decided that they need a break, perhaps to pursue other things. So instead of waiting and waiting for the next chapter, kindly turn your attention to one or more of the many other amazing pieces of work that you can find on this website and sit tight. That's all I wanted to say, thank you very much for your time!"
She winked and stood up, immediately making her way towards the door behind her.
"Hey! Where are you going? We still have to shoot the-Ruby stop struggling, I'm not gonna let you go. We have to shoot the inevitable love scene!"
Another crash, this time Blake slamming her head into the door in disbelief. Weiss took it upon herself to sit down in the chair and apologize, casting a malicious glare at the two sisters as a stray limb or two occasionally came thrashing into the cameras view, accompanied by the grunts and stifled shouting that the heiress despised so much.
And then the camera stopped capturing.
A/N: So there you go. I don't feel as though I'd be able to continue the story with the quality and clarity that it has at present, and I simply haven't felt the drive to write it. I doubt that that's because I'm bored with it though, and more to do with the fact that I've been writing it practically non-stop for four months, very nearly five and as such I just need a break to do other things.
Rest assured though, this is not finished and it will be back at some time in the future, better than you've ever seen it. I couldn't leave you with a simple 'Oh by the way I'm gonna take a break', so I decided to break the fourth wall a little bit. There are some hints to the various plot points there, but they're not as obvious as you probably think they are.
I shouldn't have to point out this is not canon to the actual plot, don't get that idea.
That means that there probably won't be White Rose in there too, in case that's what you were thinking.
I did indeed reference three different fanfictions, all of which are simply some of the best reads I've ever seen, so you should definitely go give them a read.
(The White Rose of Vermillion, Of Crimson And Gold and Coffee With Strangers, in case you didn't get it. All three are just incredible, I highly recommend them. (And don't tell the authors I said this, but I think they're better than WFCS too. *wink*))
Thank you for coming this far, and hopefully for understanding.
