A/N: Prompt for an anon who asked for Daniberry. Thanks!
Glancing over her pad of paper and pen as she wrote in her latest order, Rachel couldn't help but smile as she noticed Dani refilling the ketchup and mustard across the diner. The pink-haired girl was focused on her work, lips pursed and eyes almost crossed. "Right," Rachel nodded absently as the teenage boy seated to her asked her a question, "You get a free refill with each order of soda or iced tea."
Looking up suddenly, catching sight of her, Dani's lips parted, the girl erupting into a wide, toothy grin. She winked.
Her heart squeezing, Rachel blushed and turned back to her table. "I'm sorry?" she asked, "What was that?
Patiently, the middle-aged man repeated his question.
"Oh! Right. The Classic Burger normally comes with fries, but I can substitute in onion rings instead, don't worry. And... A chocolate shake. Okay. I'll be right back with that." Smiling, Rachel tapped her pen against her pad of paper, lightly curtsied, and left to give the order to the back.
Kurt caught up with her. "You're not being subtle," he intoned blithely as he added his own latest order after hers.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Right." Kurt raised his eyebrow, smirking.
Glaring at him, Rachel flipped her hair behind her shoulder and went to check on the table the furthest away from his section.
It was Santana who appeared at her side this time, practically bumping her shoulder against hers as she balanced her tray of drinks on her other hand. "Alright, Barbra, this is how it is," she hissed, forcing a smile, "I may have fucked up royally with Melissa Etheridge, but that doesn't mean I still don't care for her."
Rachel gave her an unamused stare.
Rolling her eyes, Santana bumped her shoulder again. "She likes you," she said plainly, "And I know you like her. Don't hurt each other. I have no problem cutting either of you bitches. But for God's sake - talk to each other already before you suck out the air in the whole diner because you can't control your damn hormones!"
Stopping in the middle of the floor, Rachel watched Santana stalk off. "Alright," she said softly to herself, shaking her head and biting her lower lip, looking back and catching Dani once again looking back at her with enough time to wink at her again, and a faint blush rose on her cheeks, "I'll talk to her tonight."
