Alright, so keep reading, nevermind, just go. Why aren't you reading the story yet. Just skip to that part.
A dark silence fell among the gamemakers as they watched their leader stand before them. Princess Luna, the head gamemaker, was giving another one of her speeches during the night shift. She wanted to make sure we made these games interesting.
"There are some rules to being a gamemaker, as you all know." Luna started in her speech, "We aren't supposed to kill tributes unless necessary, but I feel that the lack of blood at the bloodbath is necessary enough. Only three deaths!" She shook her head. "That's the worst we've ever done. I feel that something interesting is going to happen, but I'm not quite sure." She studied the map of the arena and the tributes located in it. She smiled as she realized something to make the games… more interesting. It was a wicked smile.
"I see!" Krystal broke the silence. She hated the thought of involving her friend, but it was all part of the act. She zoomed in on a part of the arena with her controls. There were many dots visible in this area. The Winter Woods. "Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie are over here, getting ready to start their night watch. Bright Darkness is over here, running from the Manticore. If we control the Manticore to lead her closer to the two tributes I mentioned earlier it could be very exciting."
"Good point," Luna said, "I was just about to say the same thing. Congratulations."
"Luna?" a stallion said, "I have a quest-
"DON'T CALL ME THAT FOOL!" Luna interrupted, "I am not some, Luna, that Celestia named me. You know my original name."
"But Luna?"
"SAY IT!" Luna shouted, "Say my name the right way." She seemed to be holding in her rage, but it was clear she wouldn't hesitate to kill him.
"Nightmare Moon?" the stallion was shaking now.
"Go ahead…"
"There's something disturbing here," the stallion started, "Bright Darkness, when we watch her with the camera, looks like Bright Darkness. But on the tracker showing us where she is, the tribute is Green Leaf. He doesn't even look relatively close to Bright Darkness."
"It must be a malfunction."
"But our technology is impeccable," a mare broke in, "and I'm getting similar readings from the tribute that should be Bright Darkness. It's Green Leaf instead!"
"I'm getting that from Pinkie Pie as well ma'am," a third pony broke in. This one was another stallion. "And Dainty Almond!"
"This is ridiculous!" Luna retorted, "Either there is a major malfunction in our systems-
"Which is highly unlikely," the mare broke in.
"Or..." Luna opened her eyes wide in shock as she realized what was going on. "Changelings…"
"Oh my gosh!" Sweetie Belle shouted as another monster came out of the lava depths. The metallic, dolphin-like body wiggled toward her and Doctor Whooves. Then it suddenly stopped. "What was that?"
"Animatronic," Doctor Whooves said immediately, "That's what. Robots created to kill us. I'm just glad it shut down." He nudge the startled Sweetie Belle away from the area, scared that she would fall into a pool of lava and die.
Sweetie Belle shivered as she said the next words, "What's next?"
Doctor Whooves didn't answer. He just took the little sweater from their bag and put it on Sweetie Belle to protect her from the night's cold. They started walking away from the cornucopia again. They walked for hours upon hours throughout the night. The moon had passed through about three quarters of the night sky when they saw the winter wood.
"What is that?" Sweetie Belle asked naively.
"The Winter Wood!" Doctor Whooves perked up, "There's good resources in there, I'm sure. It must stretch around the entire arena!"
"Wow," Sweetie Belle yawned, "Can we get some rest."
"Sure," Doctor Whooves said with a smile on his face, "There shouldn't be any other tributes nearby. We're on the edge of the arena. Go ahead and sleep, I think I'll take the first shift."
"Okay," Sweetie Belle said tiredly. She closed her eyes, and she slept soundly. She thought foolishly that there were no tributes nearby, but she thought wrong. In the woods nearby were the careers and many other dangerous tributes. But how could she know? How could this be possible? Sweetie Belle would never find out.
"Changelings!" Luna said in anger. "Of course they are!" She calmed down a bit. Her voice was somber and collected. Something was wrong. "Speaking of which… Celestia suspects that there are changelings among us. That cannot happen. Everypony is now required to take a quick blood test. If your blood is black, then you're doomed. I will simply send you to the stables."
The stables! They were a terrible place where they tortured ponies, no pony had ever made it out alive. Oh no oh no oh no, Krystal thought, I'm toast!
"There's no weaseling out of this one either," Luna said. She made all of the gamemakers stand in a row, and she started taking the blood samples herself. Each pony was pure for now, but Krystal's turn was coming up. The stallion next to her, the one that spoke up about Bright Darkness earlier, was looking nervous. When Luna took his blood sample, it was pitch black.
"Well then," she said with a smile, "I'll see you in the stables." And Krystal followed with the same sick serenade of Luna's voice. It was almost as if she was singing with glee. "Have fun!" She said sadistically as Krystal and the stallion were pushed away from their base. Away from their safety. Away from their survival.
Twilight Sparkle was keeping watch when she heard a loud roar come through the trees. A Manticore, the size of a truck came in through the snowy foliage. Part lion, part human, part scorpion, part bat, it was horrifying. She quickly but quietly woke up Pinkie Pie while they were in their wooden perch hundreds of feet above the ground. Pinkie Pie nearly said something loudly but Twilight shut her mouth with her unicorn powers.
"Manticore," Twilight whispered.
"Should we kill it?" Pinkie whispered back. She looked at a bow sitting near her. They had found a bow and seven arrows sitting up in the canopy of the trees and they claimed it for themselves.
Without speaking, Twilight used her unicorn magic to levitate the bow towards her. She had a little trouble doing it, because the school system in District 5 was pathetic when it came to magic. But Twilight had studied as much as she could on her own, and she could do it. She strung the bow and drew the arrow with her power, then waited patiently for a signal from Pinkie Pie.
Pinkie Pie pointed at it for her to shoot, but there was an interruption. They noticed a small pair of eyes dash through the dark air, without any notice from the Manticore. Then they heard a quiet climbing. Somepony was coming up the ladder.
Without hesitation, Twilight moved the bow towards the entrance of the canopy. As soon as the dark colored pony walked up, she released the arrow and it went straight through the pony's heart. Black blood was spilled everywhere, and it dripped below them. Vaguely catching the attention of the Manticore.
STOP READING NOW
Okay, okay, I lied you can keep reading this chapter. You rule-breaker.
So, here's the sitch (Kim Possible! YAY!), stop reading. Don't read the next chapter is what I mean. I have rewritten these first nine chapters, but if you keep reading, it's going to be different. You won't like it. The style will have gotten significantly worse. So don't go. I will give an update on this chapter for when you can keep going, which is not now.
