CHAPTER 12

I do not own Doctor Who or James Bond and I am not making any profit off of this.

Thank you for your favorites, follows, and reviews!

I want to give a shout-out to Empire'sRocketGoblinWriter who gave me the idea to put two particular villains in this story who he thought were way too similar for it to be a coincidence. You'll understand what two villains I mean when you get to the end of this chapter.

A HOUSE THAT DEFINITELY ISN'T A HOME

After the Doctor put Rassilon under the Chameleon Arch and gave him an entirely new identity and personality, he gave him over to UNIT while keeping his fob watch hidden deep in his TARDIS where no one would ever find it. He told Kate Stewart the entire story of who Rassilon really was and how she needed to give him some kind of task that would keep him too busy to question his life for too long and that would also keep him away from the general populace. He would later be surprised to learn that he had been made into a British secret agent of all things. Surprisingly he became a very good one however and never seemed to be in any danger of remembering who he really was as long as he had a new exciting mission to go on.

After Rassilon was sent off into his new life, the Doctor then took Clara to her parents' home to say good bye. He could see Clara trying very hard not to cry even before they got there so he knew that when she actually had to say it that it was going to become very emotional very quickly.

He didn't realize the full reason that Clara was so upset though. She had recently come to a major decision that was now tearing her apart. It was one that he would soon come to understand and sympathize with completely for his own deeply personal reasons.

As soon as the TARDIS landed, Clara was greeted by Merry who hugged her tightly. Clara was now barely able to keep from crying as Merry told her about how much that she had missed her.

Suddenly she wasn't so sure about her decision anymore, but she pressed on with it anyway.

"Merry, how would you like to stay with your grandparents for a while longer?" Clara asked.

Merry stiffened as she said, "How long?"

Clara decided to be honest with her as she said, "I don't know. I . . . I'm being pursued by a bunch of people who are out to kidnap me because of what I can do, sweetheart. I'm going to have to leave Earth for a while and travel until I'm sure that it's safe for me to come back here without putting the people that I love in danger. I promise that I'll come back just as soon as I can though, okay?"

"Why can't I go with you? I'll do whatever you say, and I won't leave the TARDIS," Merry protested.

Clara started to shake with emotion as she said, "Please understand, honey. I want you to go. I don't want to leave you behind for who knows how long. I don't want to put you in danger either though. If anything ever happened to you because of me, I'd . . . I wouldn't be able to take it."

Merry stared at her without speaking for a one long almost interminable moment as Clara could see a war of emotions going on in her eyes and then showing a maturity beyond her years she finally said, "I understand. You will come back to visit though, won't you?"

Clara hugged her tightly as she said, "Of course I will. I promise. In fact, I'll probably be back before you know. We do have a time machine after all."

Then she burst into tears and started crying out of control while Merry said, "It's alright, Mum."

"I just don't want you to think that I don't love you because I do. I love you so much and I'm so, so sorry for leaving you," Clara said in a voice filled with sorrow.

"I know. It's okay. I'm going to be okay. You just make sure that you are too," Merry said as she did her best to comfort Clara.

The Doctor looked at this scene in complete surprise as he realized that Merry was the one who was now comforting Clara instead of the other way around. It seemed that the little girl was already more mature than any of them had thought.

Clara smiled at her as she now realized this too and said in a gentle voice, "My sweet brave little girl. I won't stay gone forever, Merry. I will come back."

Merry nodded and then hugged her tightly before reluctantly letting her go.

Then Clara said good bye to her parents and said to her mother, "I don't want to leave you either, Mum. I only just got you back again."

"I know but you know what will happen if you stay here. It'll just be a repeat of today all over again. You have to find some way of resolving all of this so that we don't have to constantly worry about being attacked over and over again for the rest of our lives. You can't live like that, Clara. Hopefully the Doctor will be able to help you find a permanent solution to your problems, and then you can come back and see me whenever you want to," Ellie said hopefully.

"Are you sure that you're going to be safe out there, Clara?" Dave asked.

"I'll be fine, Dad. I have plenty of people with me to protect me. I'm going to find a way out of this somehow. I don't know what it'll be yet, but I will find a way. Nothing's going to keep me away from you for long. I won't let it," Clara said as a new sense of resolve filled her voice.

"Take care of yourself, Clara," Dave said as he embraced her.

"That goes double for me, Clara. You be careful. Don't worry about Merry either. I'll protect her and keep her safe from anyone who might come here looking for you," Ellie said.

"I know you will. Good bye," Clara said as she turned to leave.

After the Doctor dropped Tish off at home and wished her good luck with explaining things to her family, he then left the Earth behind completely as Clara started her new life. The Master and Jenny had both volunteered to go with them in order to help keep Clara safe.

The Moment, to the Doctor's surprise, wasn't coming for some reason but promised to check in on Clara from time to time. He couldn't help but wonder what she was up to. She had been so concerned with protecting Clara before, and now she was leaving her side at a crucial moment. He could only hope that the Moment was as trustworthy as Rose was.

Then all thoughts of her went out of his mind as he saw Clara standing by herself with her back turned to the others. He knew that on the inside that Clara's hearts were both breaking in that moment, and it reminded him of a similar moment that he himself had once gone through.

"One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until that day, let there be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties," the Doctor said more to himself than to anyone else as he relived that day in his mind.

"What?" Clara asked as she turned to face the Doctor who looked at her in surprise as he realized with embarrassment that he had just said that out loud.

"That's what I said to Susan when I left her. I left her behind for her own good because I knew that traveling forever with me was no kind of life for her," the Doctor explained.

"Did you ever see her again?" Clara asked in a hopeful voice.

"Yes, and hopefully I'll see her again one day now that I know the Time Lords are still out there somewhere. I guess I've just been reminded of how I felt the day I left her today by what you're going through. I got through it though and so will you. At least you can actually go back to Merry and pick up where you left off once we find a way out of this," the Doctor said encouragingly.

"I hope so," Clara said not sounding so sure of that.

"I really didn't mean to do this to you. I'm so sorry," Jenny said as she apologized yet again.

"It wasn't you. People were after me even before you brought the Time Lords back. It's me that's the problem. I need to get rid of these powers somehow. Once I do that, then no one will be after me anymore. Can you find a way to help me do that, Doctor?" Clara asked.

"I'm going to search the entire universe until I do. I think the first place that we should go to try to find an answer for that is to visit some old friends of mine, the Ood. I'm sure that they'll be able to help us in some way, and they'll probably be able to give us a hint about who may be coming after us next since they can sometimes see the future," the Doctor.

"The Ood? I know them. I talked to them once while I was trying to find you after I found out that you and Donna had saved them. They actually told me that I would find you someday, but at that time I didn't really believe them. It had already been too many years since I had last seen you," Jenny said sadly.

"Good old Ood. They're always right in my experience, and that's one of the things that makes visiting them so scary sometimes," the Doctor said as he put his arm around Jenny and made her smile.

"We have to take the chance that we're going to find out something about the future that we'd rather not know, Doctor, if it will help Clara," The Master said.

"I just wanted her to be prepared for that possibility," the Doctor said.

"Just because I've been afraid to find out the future before with my own power doesn't mean that I'm not willing to risk finding out about it for the sake of having a normal life again. Take us to these friends of yours, Chinny. I've got a family to get back to as soon as possible," Clara said with no trace of fear whatsoever.

"Alright, boss," the Doctor joked as he tried to make her smile.

"Boss. I like that! You and Koschei need to start calling me that from now on," Clara said with an evil smile.

"No," the Master said firmly.

"Oh, come on, Blondie. You'll learn to get used to it in no time. I know you will," Clara teased him.

"Blondie?" the Master said with a frown.

"It's my new nickname for you. It's still not as bad as Chin Boy is it?" Clara asked mischievously.

"I will not be called Blondie!" the Master protested.

"Oh, don't be like that, Blondie. It's all in fun," Clara said as she gave him a hug.

The Master smiled while she had her arms around him, and Jenny giggled immediately as she noticed that all traces of anger and indignation immediately left his face. It was easy to see that the Master was still deeply in love with Clara despite the fact that he now knew that she didn't feel that way about him.

"What do I call you?" Jenny asked Clara.

"You can just call me Clara like always, Jen," Clara said.

"Wait a minute. Why do we have to call you boss and she doesn't?" the Doctor said with a fake pout on his face.

"I like her the best," Clara said without hesitation as she grinned at him.

"Well, I can certainly understand that," the Doctor said as he gave Clara a quick kiss on the lips.

"Thank you, Doctor. You too, Koschei and Jenny," Clara said as she gave them all a warm smile.

"For what?" the Doctor asked even though he knew exactly what she meant.

"For making me laugh when all I wanted to do was cry. I love all of you, my boys and my girl!" Clara said as she put her arms around all three Time Lords.

Jenny smiled as she said, "So I'm your girl now, huh?"

"Yes, and now you'll always be my girl. I know I only just met you, but I remember all of the other Clara's memories of you now. I already love you just as much as she did," Clara said.

The two women embraced just as the TARDIS finally landed. Before the Doctor could even open the doors, they all heard the voice of a person who the Doctor immediately recognized as Ood Sigma in their heads.

"We've been expecting you, Doctor. Both you and your Impossible Girl. Come and join us in our circle. We have much to tell all of you," Ood Sigma said.

As the TARDIS' crew came out to find out what the Ood knew, in the far future on New Earth the Face of Boe sensed a presence nearby that woke him out of a sound sleep. He was all alone but he felt no fear of this intruder whatsoever because he recognized the person in front of him immediately.

"Rose," Boe said with a large smile.

"I've told you several times before, Jack, that I'm not Rose Tyler," the Moment said as she smiled back at him.

"You could have fooled me, Rosie. What brings you here this time?" Boe asked as he continued to smile at her.

The Moment ignored Boe's use of Rose's name to refer to her as she said, "I really need your help, Jack. You've lived so long now and seen so much that I hope that you can answer a question for me. Do you know of a way to safely and permanently remove unwanted mental powers from someone once and for all? Please tell me that you've come across something or someone that can do that."

"This is about Clara isn't it?" Boe asked.

The Moment looked at him in surprise as she said, "I didn't know that you knew her."

"Well, you know that I can't tell you too much about that, but I did eventually become good friends with her. I also became friends with Jenny too after I realized that I was never going to have a chance with her especially with her dad around watching me like a hawk. Obviously that hasn't happened for you yet though," Boe admitted with a chuckle.

"You also can't tell me if she ever gets rid of her powers either, can you?" the Moment said in disappointment.

"No, sorry. I can answer your question for you though," Boe said with a warm grin.

"You can?" the Moment asked with renewed hope in her eyes.

"You bet I can. You need to go see one of the most powerful telepaths that I've ever met while Clara's powers are still mostly dormant. It'll make shutting the part of her mind down that controls them much easier for her," Boe said.

"Where do I find this person?" the Moment asked.

"You need to go to Madame Vastra and ask her about what she knows about Elissa, the last Silurian of Mondas, and tell her that I sent you," Boe said.

"Mondas? The home planet of the Cybermen?" the Moment asked in surprise.

"Yeah, Mondas was Earth's twin planet before it blew up so it had Silurians too once. Only one of them survived the emergence of the Cybermen though. She escaped the planet because her mental powers were so great that she could completely hide herself from them even if she wasn't powerful enough to stop them. She's the one that you need to see, Rose. She'll be able to shut down Clara's powers for good as long as she reaches her in time," Boe said.

"What do you mean by 'in time'?" the Moment asked with dread.

"You already know what I mean. If Clara uses her powers too much, they'll overrun her brain and twist it until she becomes . . ." Boe said.

"I already know what she might become. So I have to get her to this Silurian woman before then. I've got it. Thanks, Jack. I don't suppose you can tell me if this will work or not," the Moment said interrupting him.

"No, I'm just supposed to give you a lead to go on. I can't do any more than that even though I know that you're worried about her. Sorry, Rosie," Boe said with an apologetic look on his giant face.

"It's okay. I had to try. I need to go now and see what I can find out about this Elissa. Good bye, Jack, and thanks," the Moment said with a small smile before she teleported away.

As soon as she left, the Face of Boe's smile faded and he instantly became filled with sadness as he said, "I wish I could have warned you about the trouble that Clara's already in. She and the others don't even know about it yet, but they will soon. I really hate knowing what's going to happen before everyone else does. Now I know how River must have felt."

Back on the original Earth, Tish was shaking with anticipation as she arrived at her mother Francine's house where she was about to tell her parents, Martha, and her brother Leo the truth about her. The part of her that was still Tish was so afraid that they were all going to freak out, but the part that was Romana knew that it had to be done. Tish drew heavily on Romana's inner strength to force herself to ring the doorbell.

Thankfully it was Martha who answered the door first, and she could instantly tell that her sister was terrified.

"Tish, are you okay?" Martha asked with concern.

"No, I'm not. I came here to tell them, Martha. I came to tell them about who I really am," Tish said as she started to visibly shake from being so nervous.

"You really don't have to do that if you don't want to, Tish. Not if it's going to make you this upset. I mean it's not like you've opened the watch," Martha said.

Tish said nothing but the look on her face said it all, and Martha's eyes instantly widened and began to tear up as she realized what had happened.

"You remembered when the Time Lords attacked," Martha said in a voice filled with pain.

"Martha, it's still me. I'm still Tish. I'm still your sister," Tish said as she reached out to her and gently touched her cheek.

Martha shook with fear as she said, "Who are you really though?"

"I already told you. Opening the watch didn't really change anything despite my being so afraid that it would. I'm still Tish because I want to be her. That's why I didn't want to open the watch. I subconsciously loved being Tish too much and didn't want to let it go. It turns out that I'm still the same though. I still care about you, Mum, Dad, and Leo just as much as I ever did. I love you, Martha," Tish insisted.

Martha searched Tish's eyes for answers for a moment and then smiled as she said, "It is still you, isn't it?"

"Of course it's me. It'll always be me," Tish said with a warm smile.

The two sisters embraced while Francine Jones, their mother, came to the door and said, "What's going on out here? Why aren't you coming in, Tish?"

"Mum, there's something that I have to tell you. I'm . . ." Tish started to say.

Then she was interrupted as a Time Lord that she recognized as being one of the High Council suddenly appeared behind her dressed in full ceremonial robes. Francine gasped in surprise while Tish sighed and said, "No, not now."

"Lady Romana, you must come back and take your rightful place as the President of Gallifrey. We need you to help us through the hard times that lie ahead especially if the Lady Alura goes rogue as our Visionary fears that she might. We may need your help to stop her. She may not expect an attack to come from her own cousin and that may give us the advantage that we need against her," The Time Lord said.

Tish glared at them as she shouted, "Forget it! I'll never help you to hurt Alura! Got it?"

"Even now events are taking place that may lead to there being no other choice," the Time Lord said.

"What do you know? Tell me now while I can still do something to stop it," Tish ordered in a voice that sounded more like Romana's than Tish's.

"We won't tell you anything until you agree to lead us once more even if it means having to fight Alura in order to keep Gallifrey safe," the Time Lord said.

"No, you can't do that," Martha protested.

"She's right. I'm never going to agree to that," Tish said.

"Then you'll never find out what's about to happen in time to stop it," the Time Lord said.

"What you're doing is despicable," Martha said.

"Make your choice," the Time Lord said to Tish with cold, unfeeling eyes.

Tish looked to Francine for advice just as she always would only to see a look of complete and utter astonishment there that was mixed with fear, and she realized now with absolute horror that she knew! She knew exactly who and what she really was. She looked behind her to see from the stunned looks on her father and Leo's face as they stood behind Francine that they did too. So much for breaking it to them gently!

"I'm still the same. I haven't really changed at all," Tish tried to explain.

"We have no further time to waste with these humans. They're of no importance," the Time Lord said.

"They're important to me!" Tish screamed.

The Time Lord was momentarily taken back by her reaction but quickly recovered in order to say, "Then you won't want them to all be destroyed if Alura becomes a murderous renegade will you?"

Tish looked between the Time Lord and her family in despair as having to choose between her two worlds threatened to tear her apart. Romana wanted to go back to Gallifrey and protect her people while Tish just wanted to stay on Earth to be with her family and let someone else do the job.

Both of them wanted to keep Clara safe though. She could only do that if she had access to the full knowledge that the Time Lords had on her immediate future. In the end, there was never really any other choice.

"Just give me a moment to say good bye," Tish said with a resigned sigh to the Time Lord who nodded while her family looked on in disbelief.

Meanwhile the Doctor, Clara, the Master, and Jenny had all emerged from the TARDIS to find the Ood all sitting around holding hands in a circle. At their urging, they had immediately grabbed the hands of some of the Ood and become a part of the circle.

The Doctor had quickly explained Clara's problem to the Ood and then asked, "So do you think that you can help her?"

"We'll have to look deeply into her mind in order to tell that for certain, Doctor. She will have to grant us full access. Will you do that, Clara Oswald?" Ood Sigma asked.

Clara hesitated at first but the Doctor nodded to her encouragingly so she finally said, "Yeah, go ahead. Any friends of Chin Boy's are friends of mine."

"Thank you, Clara Oswald. Thank you so much," Ood Sigma said as his voice suddenly changed.

"What?" the Doctor said with a sense of growing uneasiness because Ood Sigma's voice had changed to one that sounded very familiar to him.

It couldn't be him though! Could it?

"Doctor, what is it?" the Master asked as he realized that something was wrong.

"Clara, break the link! Break the link!" the Doctor suddenly shouted.

The Ood's eyes then all started to glow green as Clara said in a male voice that was definitely not her own, "It's too late, Doctor. She's mine now and with her power I will conquer Gallifrey! I'll no longer be forced to capture and feed on random TARDISes when I can gain access to unlimited artron energy there that I can feed off of forever."

"Who are you?" the Master asked in a furious voice.

"My name is House and I have waited a long, long time for an opportunity like this. Now I will finally gain my revenge on the Doctor for almost destroying me at the same time as I ensure my continued existence forever," House said through Clara and the Ood at the same time.

"No, this can't be happening!" the Doctor said in despair as House laughed at him in triumph.

Meanwhile unnoticed nearby and in an extremely weakened state another entity watched this with insatiable curiosity. The girl that was being possessed looked exactly like the one who had defeated him as she lay dying on Christmas. He had been forced from the Earth thanks to her, but he hadn't been killed. He had drifted for what seemed like millennia and may have well been that long until he found himself there on the Ood Home World.

He had been drawn there by the feeling of another being of great power there and had stayed in the hopes that if he waited long enough that he might find a way to drain his strength and use him to heal itself before he was aware of his existence. Now he finally knew that being's name and purpose for being there and was amazed to find that they had a mutual enemy in common.

The Great Intelligence was determined now to wait and bide his time until he found the right moment to strike. Once he did, not only would House and the Doctor fall before him but Clara Oswald and the incredible power that he could sense from her mind would both be his to do with as he chose.

He was sure that soon now, very soon, his time would finally come at last. How ironic that the very girl who had almost destroyed him would soon be the one to help save him?

Next: So much is happening next time as the Doctor, the Master, and Jenny must try to come up with a way to rescue Clara and the Ood from House. In the meantime, what will the Great Intelligence be up to during all of this and will the Doctor and the others realize that he's there in time to stop him? Plus Tish says tearful good byes to her family and goes to Gallifrey to assume the Presidency. What will the Time Lords tell her and how will she act on that knowledge? Also the Moment visits Madame Vastra in search of the Silurian who can help Clara. Will she find her? Even if she does, will it be too late to even matter?
