Hey guys! It's been a little while since I've posted anything, but that's ok. I hope you guys had an awesome Christmas and New Years and I'm gonna start 2014 right with the longest chapter in this story! :D
EVER!
I was working on this today in google docs and I was astounded to see it took a hole five pages. So that might not seem like a lot but this story has rather short chapters than other ones I'm working on. So I'm really glad to see this step up a bit. But I've blabbered enough, you guys probably wanna read the story! :D
Braeburn sat alone in a hall, watching a specialized team very closely as they cleared out the collapse in the doorway. He couldn't think about anything but his Junebug. His special Junebug. Her light orange fur, her yellow mane. He reached underneath his brown leather hat and took out a small case. This was going to be their engagement ring. Now Junebug was taken away from him. All the more reason to hate the capitol.
"Junebug," Braeburn whispered to himself. "Will you marry me?" He sat alone in the silent response. The one he would never get to hear.
Applejack walked slowly up to him with a gentle smile on her face. She looked a bit satisfied, as if something good just happened.
"You wanna help dig a clearing for the victims of the collapse?" Applejack asked softly.
"No," Braeburn said quietly.
"Are you so sure?" Applejack's smile grew wider.
"Ya…"
"I think that you'll wanna see this, Braeburn," Applejack said with a grin. A kind, honest grin. She pulled Braeburn gently off his hind and walked him over to the cave in. There was a little hole in the large pack of dirt. A moan was heard through the thick pack of rocks and sediment.
"Junebug?" Braeburn said with a glint of hope going through his eyes.
"No," Applejack said solemnly. "Junebug can't speak. She's passed out. The moan you hear is Derpy Whooves. A hunter gatherer that helped us get the meat for the soup a while back."
"Derpy Whooves?" Braeburn asked to himself.
"That's me," a voice responded from the dirt. "I'm the only who hasn't passed out from lack of oxygen in here, but there might be more. We got a collapse that trapped us in here. Just the three of us. Me, Junebug, and some other pony."
"Derpy!" Braeburn said with joy. "How is Junebug? Will she be okay?"
"I think so," Derpy responded. There was absolute silence for about a minute from the cave-in. "Her heart is still beating."
"Thank God!" Braeburn smiled in joy.
"She will need medical attention though," Derpy interrupted Braeburn's moment of joy just as a dart pierces into a balloon. His smile faded into an upset frown, and he simply fell over onto the ground. There was no hope. No matter what he did he would never be able to save her. Or would he? He wasn't sure, but he was ready to find out.
"Oh gosh, oh gosh," Apple Bloom said to herself in a rush. She was running as fast as she could, trying somehow to find a way into District 13. Her safehaven. The sound of machine guns was getting closer and closer. The vibrant light from the moon guided her path through the woods until she found a clearing. But not just any clearing.
A bit of a pony's body lay at the edge of the clearing. It looked and smelled as burnt hair, or a burnt mane. She saw ahead that there were dozens of trees completely wiped out. The grass had all died around the clearing, and nothing was left but dirt. Dry. Dead. Useless. She saw almost nothing in the clearing but destruction, but there was one object visible to her. An elevator.
"Where are you? You foalish filly!" a metallic voice cracked from the woods. She had seen the strange pony earlier. He had machine guns sticking from his side. His movement was robotic and controlled. He was not a pony. It was not a pony.
She galloped over to the elevator quickly, and saw that it was broken. A bolt of electricity swiveled around the metal cylinder. The sliding doors were stuck in place, with just a crack in between them, but Apple Bloom was small. She was still a filly. She barely managed to fit through the elevator doors, hoping that this pony didn't follow her.
Apple Bloom tried to push a button on the elevator to let her go down, but she realized something. District 13 would never let an elevator stay out in the open. It would be hidden and it wouldn't be sticking out of the ground. Something was wrong. Something had broken the system of the elevator. She waited for a response, which would hopefully be the elevator going down its regular path to District 13, but there was nothing. She pushed the button again, harder this time, but there was absolutely nothing.
"Target lost," the metallic voice said from far away. A clatter of metal was heard from the trees, and Apple Bloom saw the pony walk out into the clearing. The pony seemed to know exactly where he was. The machine guns had drawn back into his sides; they were no longer visible. The pony simply walked slowly, observing the area around him. Apple Bloom hid behind one of the doors hoping not to be seen. She viewed the pony through the crack in the doors. He had a dark, spiky brown mane, and a light brown coat of fur. His cutie mark was that of an hourglass. She remembered her dream where she was killed by the pony. A shiver went slowly down her spine.
She peeked around to see through the crack again when she saw that the pony was looking right at her. He wouldn't stop staring at her. He moved forward without moving his head, and he simply spoke a few words.
"Target… Spotted."
Cheerilee and Rainbowdash sat quietly in Rainbowdash's quarters as they listened to what an untrained ear might call a symphony of trombone squabbling madness. It wasn't really beautiful, but the sound of Redwall trying to teach Applejack how to play a song wasn't exactly lustrous. Applejack was clearly struggling as she had just picked up trombone maybe a few weeks ago, but there was also a lot of laughter. Friendly laughter. They were having fun.
Cheerilee looked so sad. She quietly sang to herself the words of the song as Applejack stumbled through the notes, and Rainbowdash didn't know what to do. She simply sat there as her acquaintance festered in her own sorrow.
There was a slow and quiet knock on the door. It didn't seem rather urgent. Just… slow.
"Come in," Cheerilee said hoarsely.
The door slow opened to reveal the shaking hoof of Braeburn opening it. He looked so sad, but also as seemed to be recovering from the news of his lover's injury.
"What is it Braeburn?" Rainbowdash asked before Cheerilee could say something. She was a bit defensive of her friend and didn't want any interruptions.
"There's somepony on the surface. A filly," Braeburn said. "We thought Cheerilee would want to see this."
"That's it!" Rainbowdash said with fury blazing through her eyes. "That's what you want to tell Cheerilee! She's a little tired right now! Can't you respect-
"Rainbowdash," Cheerilee said with control and discipline. "That is completely uncalled for."
"But Cheerilee-
"You are dismissed Dash," Cheerilee frowned.
"But-
"Dismissed is a kind way of saying get the hell out of this room."
"Alright," Rainbowdash frowned, lowered her head, and slowly walked out of her own room.
"Put it on screen Braeburn," Cheerilee ordered.
"Yes ma'am," Braeburn said. He quickly grabbed the remote to Dashy's TV and turned it on. He entered some kind of code to put it into the security cameras. A picture of a scared young filly was shown in an elevator. She had yellowish fur and a red mane. She also wore a pink bow which was a bit ratted.
"Who is that and why is it important?" Cheerilee asked strictly.
"We don't know who she is, but that is the last detail we should worry about," Braeburn said with a shaky voice. He had trouble standing up to Cheerilee.
"What is it?" Cheerilee looked closely on the video and saw something standing between the crack in the elevator door. "Is that a pony in the background?"
"Not just any pony," Braeburn said. He pushed some buttons on the remote and the screen zoomed in to the pony standing far away from the camera, and the image was horrifying. "It's Doctor Whooves."
"What?" Cheerilee asked. She stood up in shock and did a double take to the TV. She just couldn't believe it. He was dead! Wasn't he? She looked and saw machine guns sticking out of his sides. It wasn't Doctor Whooves. It was some kind of… cyborg.
"What are your orders ma'am?" Braeburn asked Cheerilee.
"Send Redwall to manually fix the elevator that that poor filly is stuck on, and let her in," Cheerilee ordered. "Braeburn, I want you to send this information to Cadence immediately."
"Aye, aye," Braeburn said and quickly left Rainbowdash's room. He went to the room next door, where Redwall and Applejack were still playing trombone. He opened the unlocked door and looked inside to see the two of them stumbling over their instruments trying to play a song. "Redwall," Braeburn said with authority. "We need you to fix Elevator Beta 7 immediately, and send it down to Level 1. We'll have a team of recruits meet the victim of assault as soon as she arrives."
"Victim?" Applejack asked curiously. Redwall, without question walked out of the room.
Braeburn put a hoof on his shoulder as he started walking out. "I know you'll see Doctor Whooves up there," Braeburn whispered. "But under no circumstances will you let him in District 13. Am I clear?"
"Yes sir," Redwall responded. He galloped down the hall to some control panel. He would do as he was commanded. Always.
Braeburn began to close the door but looked into the eyes of his confused looking cousin. "Who is this victim?" she asked quietly.
"A filly," Braeburn said with the door open a crack. "Yellow-ish fur. Pink bow. Red mane. Mean anything to you?"
It sounds so familiar… Applejack thought. Who is she? "No not at all," Applejack said unsurely. "Maybe if I saw the filly-"
"You can go to Rainbowdash's room next door," Braeburn interrupted. "There's a security camera synced with the TV."
Applejack walked over to Rainbowdash's room and looked over to a deathly quiet Cheerilee. She didn't say anything, she just walked slowly over to where she could see the TV. And it was clear as day. She was looking at her long lost sister. Apple Bloom looked so afraid, so scared. But she seemed strong too. Stronger than Applejack could ever know.
Cadence sat in the car of a high-speed train headed on its way to District 6. She was on a representative journey to make sure everyone was calm and collected. She knew of the rebellion stirring up in different districts. They were sick of being controlled by the Capital.
"Are you having a good ride?" a mare asked her. She was one of the officials going to District 6 on the train. Cadence, the mare, and a few other ponies would be making the team to keep the peace.
"Yes I am," Cadence said dully. "I feel a bit bored of how long this train is taking, though."
"It is taking a while," the mare said in return. Raze was a blue-ish pegasus with tribal tattoos all over her body. She had the cutie mark of a red scar, and she had a yellow and red mane. Her mane was tucked into a braid that went around her shoulder, and her light-purple eyes screamed sincerity when she asked,"How did you enjoy your vacation at Velancia?"
"It was good, Raze," Cadence said with a smile coming to her face. "Thanks for asking."
"My pleasure," Raze smiled kindly. It was a bit of a forced smile, but Cadence would take whatever she could get around Capital ponies. There was a bit of silence for a few minutes when an Avox walked in carrying a tray with some wine glasses. This Avox has a tag for her name sitting on the breast of her coat, and she looked rather sad. Very sad. Avox's were ponies who could not speak because they were caught breaking the law. As punishment they'd have to serve citizens of the Capital for the rest of their lives.
This Avox had a blue-striped mane and white fur. She had a cutie mark of some musical notes on her hind. Cadence had never seen the pony before, but gladly accepted one of the wine glasses. Raze followed suit.
"To the Capital," Raze said and grinned widely. She lifted her wine glass in the air.
"To the Capital," Cadence laughed a bit and lifted her wine glass with Raze's. Then Raze motioned her hoof for the Avox to go away, and the Avox bowed. "Wait." Cadence stopped the Avox from leaving and read her name tag. "Thank you… Vinyl."
The Avox smiled and left the room quietly.
Wow... That all just happened. I wonder what's gonna happen with Applejack and Apple Bloom! What is Cadence really going to do in District 6? Will Cheerilee ever open up to Redwall? Will Junebug survive in the hospital? Will Vinyl have anything more to do with the plot? Who is this Raze?
All very good questions which will be answered! Not really in the next chapter... Well... I could say something... But I won't! Remember to review because your input is the most important thing evah! And one more thing... Another big step for this story. It has passed 10,000 views! YAY! And I wanna start posting things more regularly. So let me just say... See you all next week!
