Hey there readers! I'm proud to announce this new chapter for The Pony Games in celebration of 14000 total views on this story! YAYYYY!
So I hope you like this new chapter, but before you read, I'd like to give you a HUGE apology! I keep making these promises about new chapters and I keep failing to live up to those. So to try and make up for that... well.. you'll just have to read until the end for the author's note at the bottom. ENJOY!
"Cadets, sound off!" Braeburn commanded as he and a few other ponies were going up to the surface in one of the last working elevators. "State your name, and your duty for this specific mission, I briefed you earlier on the situation so you all know what to do. Also, don't bother stating your rank you are all of the same class.
Rainbowdash stepped forward first. "Good morning, sir," she started with an obligatory tone in her voice.
"Good morning, cadet," Braeburn smirked.
"Name: Rainbowdash," she continued without comment to his smug attitude. "Mission: To handle the RPG and take down any large-class enemies before they become a threat… sir." At the moment, she was completely weapon-less, the RPG and other weapons would be given to them at floor one, right underneath the surface.
"Next," Braeburn ordered. "And hurry up, if you're as slow in your explanation as Rainbowdash was we won't have time to get our weapons…"
"Name: Applejack," a pony said. Braeburn turned as Applejack stepped out close to him. "Mission: To prevent any Peacekeepers from compromising the mission subjects and targets."
"Nice and quick," Braeburn commented. "Good job, cadet."
"Name: Derpy Hooves," the little grey pony was next. Derpy took a step closer to Braeburn. "Mission: Provide medical assistance to wounded or injured soldiers and civilians, sir."
Before Braeburn could respond another pony continued. "Name: Spitfire," a pony with flame-like hair stepped forward. Rainbowdash had never met this cadet before. "Mission: To keep knowledge of the whereabouts of unalarmed Peacekeepers by using stealth technology. In other words, I'll be your eye in the sky." Spitfire winked as she said this, and Braeburn gave her a nervous smile.
Apple Bloom tried to step forward from under Rainbowdash's wing, but before she could another pony interrupted her. "Name: Dynasty," this pony stepped forward to reveal her bright green fur and beautiful white feathers on her wings. Her cutie mark was that of a thunderbolt, somewhat like Rainbowdash's. "Mission: To disguise as Peacekeepers in order to infiltrate the main office of District 6."
"You're a changeling," Rainbowdash asked with extreme curiosity.
"Yes I am," Dynasty answered plainly.
"Don't speak out of line, either of you," Braeburn ordered. "From here on out, no one says a word unless I tell them to. Are we clear?"
"Yes sir," all the ponies responded. Except for one…
"Name: Apple Bloom," a little filly stepped out into the center of the elevator. Staring straight into Braeburn's eyes.
Before Apple Bloom could continue, Braeburn interrupted. "Whoa there little filly, you aren't coming with us. You're just too young." He bent down to look at her in a parental way.
"But I can still do things…" Apple Bloom tried to say, but it was too late. The elevator doors opened to reveal a large room filled to the brim with weapons.
"Cadets…" Braeburn started. "And Apple Bloom. Welcome to what I like to call the Weapons Nexus, the only place you'll ever get these high-tech weapons… ever. Our lead science officer, Redwall, as some of you know him by, has developed every single weapon you see." Braeburn stepped out into the room and took a deep breath.
To Rainbowdash, this room was awe-inspiring. There was nothing she could ever love more. The large room had about 3 different floors of all sorts of weapons. Bombs, semi-automatic guns, missiles, tanks, helicopters, airplanes, rockets…. Rockets! That was her weapon according to her mission statement. A Rocket Launcher, which she assumed was of her choice. She excitedly ran up the stairs to the proper segment, abandoning her squad as Braeburn gave a little tour.
"Rainbowdash," a voice said behind her. "I didn't expect to see you right here." Rainbowdash could tell by the nerdy disposition that it was Redwall.
"Why not?" Dashy asked. "I'm about to leave for my mission."
"Yes but you should probably be staying in your… squad," Redwall tried to correct the pegasus but it just wouldn't happen. He knew her too well by now. "Nevermind, I suppose you need the RPG for your mission."
"Yes," Rainbowdash confirmed his assumption. He handed her a rocket launcher and prepared to be on his way, probably to another boring meeting.
"Remember that you only have five shots," Redwall said as he walked away.
Dashy was extremely disappointed. Just five shots? That's ridiculous. As she put the ammo on her newly acquired ammo belt she understood why five shots was the only option. The rockets were extremely heavy. She trudged down the stairs to rejoin the squad, who didn't seem to notice her disappearance.
Everypony was fully equipped with their weapons of choice, and in Derpy's case, a medical kit. Then, Rainbowdash's father, who she assumed was handing out the weapons, escorted them back into the elevator where they would go up to the surface.
As the elevator began to move upward, Braeburn spoke. "Now as a warm up today, we will be sprinting to the helicopter launching site."
"A run?" Applejack asked. "Oh boy, I know I'm ready for this!"
"Don't mind me, folks," Dashy's dad commented. "My knees are too old for running such a distance. You'll just have to wait for me to catch up."
"That's alright," Braeburn said. His voice cracked when he said this. He was guilty… and a bit sad. Braeburn knew that this older man had to die, but… why today? It didn't seem right to lead him to his death without telling him.
Well this is all unicorns and rainbows! Not really... actually the drama is about to increase so much idk if I can handle it. So here's me making up for my lack of keeping promises. A SCHEDULE! OMGOSH!
