(A/N: Hey guys, I'm really sorry this chapter is late. Once again, computer issues got in the way of updating, not to mention a ton of school work. However, this episode is still horror themed, so while it may not have come out on Halloween itself... consider it a sort of celebration of the horror genre in general. Also, because I'm a cruel person, I've decided to give you a quick teaser. I've had a few people now ask me if I'm ever going to work with the ROTI cast in my Camp TV universe. After this season reaches its midway point, Im going to take a break from it to begin work on something else that may or may not have to do with the ROTI teens. You'll just have to wait and see :p)
Chris was standing on the beach, sipping his coffee as multiple interns scurried around behind him, stacking various boxes.
"And when you're done with that," Chris put in, "get prepped for today's challenge. It's going to be a doozy!"
The interns nodded, and continued their work.
Back at the camp, the contestants were just beginning to wake up. A few had already gotten an early start, like Johnny, who was out hunting, and DJ, who was cooking a dish which could not be identified.
"Hey DJ," Duncan yawned, emerging from the boys cabin, "what are you cooking? It's smells great!"
"No idea," DJ smiled, "I found it on the shoreline this morning!"
"Oh," Duncan frowned, "that... Yeah, I'm gonna go find some berries or something."
"Your loss," DJ shrugged.
Sunny was sitting in the girls cabin, a depressed look on her face.
"You alright?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah, I guess," Sunny frowned, "just a bit upset Veronica went home, that's all. She was a good friend."
"I know how you feel," Courtney sighed, "last season, I was eliminated before Geoff. I really missed him, too."
"Pfft. You should just be glad there's one less person in the game," Eva smiled, "I mean, I know I am."
"That's because you're a fop," Sunny snapped.
"A soon to be rich fop," Eva smirked, "but don't worry. If you guys need work, I'm sure I'll have plenty of positions open to help maintain my golden money palace."
"Yeah, whatever," Sunny said, rolling her eyes, "look, I'm-"
"All members of the Legion, outside NOW!"Lance shouted.
Sunny blinked, and looked to her teammates.
"What's that all about?" She asked.
"I don't know. I guess we better go see," Courtney. frowned.
The female members of the Legion stepped outside, where Lance and Johnny were waiting. The boys were also exiting their cabins, equally confused looks on their faces.
"What's going on?" Tyler asked, "Is everything okay?"
"No," Lance snapped, "It isn't. After we got back from the challenge last night, we realized something- the chest our team won is gone. Someone stole it!"
"WHAT?" Vevo demanded, "And you didn't think to bring it up until now?"
"Most of you had already gone to bed," Johnny shrugged, "and to be honest, we hoped not raising the alarm would allow us to find out who do it."
"Wait a minute, you mean you CHECKED?" Vevo demanded, "You went through our things?!"
"Yes, I did," Lance snapped, "and I didn't find anything. So I'll make an ultimatum. Whoever stole the chest, step up now, and we won't eliminate you. If you don't step up now, and we have to find out later on that you took it, you're gone."
"Whatever," Quinn shrugged, "you guys can play detective all day for all I care. But I've got things I need to do."
With that, Quinn stormed off.
The other members of the Legion all looked around at each other.
CONFESSIONAL: Sunny
Its Quinn. It has to be. I just need to find a way to prove it. I mean, look at her. She's easily the least trustworthy person on our team.
END CONFESSIONAL
~o.0.o~
A few hours later, Chris gathered the contestants.
"Okay," he announced, "today's going to be a long day, so I hope you guys are prepared! We've got not one, but TWO challenges!"
Before the contestants could voice their complaints, Chris held up a hand.
"But don't worry, the first challenge is a reward challenge. Only one person I'll be leaving tonight- although that brings me to today's twist. For one day only, you'll all be competing AGAINST EACH OTHER! That's right, teams have temporarily been dissolved! After today, you'll go back to your teams once more until the merge officially hits."
The reaction to this was mixed, with the majority of the campers looking more worried than anything. Eva, Vevo, and Quinn, however, looked thrilled.
"So what are our challenges today?" Courtney asked.
"Simple," Chris, "today, we're going to have our SECOND horror based challenge!"
At this, DJ nearly fainted. As far as he was concerned, one had been more than enough.
"But don't worry, the first part isn't all that terrifying. Unless you have a fear of being electrocuted, that is," Chris chuckled, "now, follow me!"
Chris led the contestants to a stage he had set up. On the stage was something similar to a jury box, with two rows of eight seats. Each of the seats had peculiar straps and metal knobs attached to it. Across from that sat a lone podium.
"Those don't look very comfortable," Miri frowned.
"They aren't!" Chris said cheerfully, "which is why you'll be sitting in them!"
The contestants groaned, but did as they were told. Much to their annoyance, a few interns appeared to strap them in a few seconds afterward.
"Was that really necessary?" Courtney frowned.
"Eeeyup," Chris smiled, "I'll explain how this works. This part of the challenge is a horror trivia game! I'll be asking each of you questions relating to the horror genre. If you answer correctly, you pass to the next round. If you answer incorrectly, you get electrocuted! The eight competitors who last the longest win an advantage in the next challenge."
"Horror trivia?" Cody smiled, "Awesome! You love horror movies, right Gwen?"
"Well, yeah," Gwen frowned.
"So try to enjoy yourself a little," Cody encouraged her, "I'm sure you'll blow today's challenge out of the water- maybe you can actually have a little fun!"
"Ahem," Chris coughed, "lets get started, shall we? First question is for... Duncan! What cult hit TV show spawned a prequel movie called, 'Fire Walk With Me'?"
"Twin Peaks," Duncan smiled.
"Good job," Chris said, "fun fact, that movie featured the acting talents of both David Bowie and Chris Isaak- the two celebrities I named the season two teams after! Next question, for Alejandro. Who was the actor who played Freddy Krueger in 'Nightmare on Elm Street'?"
"I don't know!" Alejandro exclaimed, "a Buerromuerto hasn't the time for trivial-" Alejandro was interrupted, however, when the chair suddenly sent a few volts of electricity through him.
"Alejandro is ELIMINATED!" Chris announced.
As soon as he said that, Alejandro's chair actually ejected itself from the stage, sending him flying through the air as the other contestants looked on in horror.
"Yeah," Chris chuckled, "you may not want to lose this part of the challenge. One down, seven to go. Next up, Quinn."
Quinn managed to answer her question correctly, so Chris moved on.
"Courtney. Who's the antagonist of the original Friday the 13th movie?"
"Ummm... Jason, right?" Courtney smiled.
A few horror junkies, such as Duncan and Cody, sighed and shook their heads.
"Wrong-o! It's was his mom!" Chris grinned, "see ya later, Courtney!"
Before Courtney could say anything, she was electrified, and then ejected.
"Courtney!" Geoff exclaimed, "Chris, I gotta go check on her!"
"I was hoping you'd say that," Chris smirked.
A moment later, and Geoff was soaring through the air.
"Only five eliminations left to go," Chris said, "who's going to make it to the end? We'll just have to wait and see! Next question, Cody! Where did the popular Slenderman myth originate?"
"The somethingawful forums," Cody answered, "although die hard fans insist there are legitimate sightings of him dating hundreds of years back."
"Good," Chris frowned, disappointed, "Miri, who is the protagonist of Dead Space, a horror based video game?"
"I don't know!" Miri exclaimed, "the only game I've ever played is Portal!"
"Well, sucks to be you," Chris said, "adios!"
A few seconds later, and Miri received the harsh exit everyone else had received.
"Lance, buddy. I'd hate to see your suit get mussed up, so tell me- who is considered the father of the zombie genre?" Chris asked.
"Uh... George Romero, right?" Lance asked.
Chris nodded.
CONFESSIONAL: Lance
Phew! I thought I was gonna get fried there! I mean, I'm no horror fan. I'm more of a rom-com kinda guy. Wait... Did I just say that on national television?
END CONFESSIONAL
Chris continues the questions, with Lucky, Vevo, Tyler, and Sunny all able to successfully answer questions. When the question came to Johnny, he looked a little nervous.
CONFESSIONAL: Johnny
Look, I grew up in a household of three kids, and we were too busy taking care of the house to watch television. The only movies I've ever seen were ones I've watched in school.
END CONFESSIONAL
"Johnny. What horror- parody came out in 2012 that was directed by Joss Whedon?" Chris asked.
Johnny closed his eyes, and thought back. He wasnt sure, but he could vaguely recall a girl he had passed in his highschool hallways mention a movie along those lines.
"Uh... Cabin in the Woods?" Johnny frowned.
"Correct!" Chris nodded.
Johnny let out a sigh of relief.
"Next, lets have... Oh, I know! DJ! Lets see how Camp TV's biggest wimp manages to do in the horror trivia contest!" Chris smirked, "So, tell me, DJ, what 1984 horror movie did Johnny Depp play a supporting role in?"
"The original Nightmare on Elm Street," DJ answered.
"Um, wow... I was... Expecting you to get that wrong. Ahem. Moving on, I guess..."
CONFESSIONAL: DJ
The reason I knew that was because, ever since I was a kid, my dad would force me to watch scary movies to try and toughen me up. I'd try to close my eyes, but he'd just threaten to ground me. I mean, I HATE scary movies, but I guess I know a bit about them because of all that.
END CONFESSIONAL
Chris continued the round. When he finished, only Eva had been eliminated, leaving Duncan, Gwen, Tyler, Lucky, Sunny, Lance, Cody, Vevo, DJ, Johnny, and Quinn.
"Well," Chris said, "there are eleven of you left, but only eight are going to make it out of here unscathed. So we're going to have to keep up the questions until three of y'all drop out!"
The contestants gave each other nervous glances.
"Yeah," Chris smirked, "I'd hate to be in your shoes right now. Mostly because mine are custom tailored, but we aren't here to talk fashion."
And so, the questions continued. Vevo dropped out fairly quickly in the second round, and Lance slipped up shortly afterwards.
"Okay, final question of this round," Chris announced, "Tyler, who directed hit movie The Shining?"
"Uhhh... I don't... Morgan Freeman?" Tyler frowned.
Chris smirked, and Tyler was electrified, ad then ejected. The host then turned to the remaining campers.
"Congratulations!" He smiled, "You eight managed to outlast everyone else- and as a result, you earn the advantage in today's challenge!"
A few interns appeared, and began to unstrap the contestants from their chairs.
"So what's our advantage?" DJ asked.
"Glad you asked," Chris smiled, "follow me!"
Chris led the contestants to the beach where he had all of the boxes set up.
"What's in the box?" Cody frowned.
Chris just smiled.
"What's in the box?" Cody asked again, "WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!"
"Okay, sheesh, no need to get all wound up. Inside those boxes are two things: costume material, and weapons! Because our comic con challenge went over so well two years ago, we're going to have the eight of you dress up as your favorite protagonists from horror movies, games, books, or whatever! In addition, you get an assortment of gear to help you in your next challenge, which I'll explain later."
"Nice!" Cody smiled, "I always wanted to participate in the comic con challenge! This'll almost be as good! Who are you going to dress up as, Gwen?"
"Oh, uh, I don't know," Gwen frowned.
"Come on," Cody pleaded, "this challenge is actually shaping up to be kind of awesome! Can't you just go along with it?"
"Oh, alright," Gwen sighed, "I'll think of something."
~o.0.o~
About an hour later, Chris had the eight losing contestants gathered on the beach.
"Okay," Chris said, "now that I have you guys here, lets see who your fellow contestants decided to dress up as- first up, Sunny!"
Sunny had chosen to dress as Zoey from the Left 4 Dead franchise, and was wielding a guitar as a weapon.
"You're going to risk your own guitar as a weapon?" Courtney asked, "seems like that could backfire."
"MY guitar? Oh no! I'd never risk breaking Monty! I just found this in one of those boxes," Sunny explained.
Lucky was next up, dressed as Ash from the Army of Darkness, even toting a metal hand and a shotgun loaded with rubber bullets.
"Hail to the king, baby," Lucky smirked.
"Nicely done, Lucky," Chris said, "hm... How about Cody next?"
Cody suddenly leapt out in front of Chris, dressed as Batman.
"Cody, for the love of- I said you had to dress up as a horror protagonist!" Chris snapped.
"I'm Batman."
"Yes, I can see that, but Batman isn't-"
"I'M BATMAN."
"Fine! Whatever!" Chris snapped, "Next person!"
Quinn stepped out, dressed as Selena from the Underworld series. Following behind her was Gwen, dressed up as Ripley from the Alien series. DJ also made his appearance dressed as Lee Everett from the Walking Dead game. Duncan was decked out in a military uniform- his costume being an homage to Private Cooper from Dog Soldiers.
Finally, there was Johnny. Much to Chris' annoyance, he wasnt dressed in a costume of any kind.
"Johnny!" Chris groaned, "You're SUPPOSED to wear a costume!"
"Look, I grabbed some of the gear," Johnny frowned, "and I appreciate that, but I didn't come here to play dress up."
"Fine," Chris sighed, "you know Johnny, you're no fun."
"What about the rest of us?" Eva demanded, "don't we get anything?"
"I'm glad you asked!" Chris smiled, "please follow me to the changing rooms!"
Twenty minutes, and the right losing competitors (Miri, Tyler, Geoff, Courtney, Alejandro, Eva, Vevo and Lance) were wearing Fairy Princess costumes.
"This," Alejandro growled, "is degrading."
"I know!" Chris smirked, "And if you even TRY to take them off, I'll eliminate you from not just the challenge, but the entire game!"
"I hate you, so so much," Alejandro hissed.
"I don't know," Tyler smiled, "I think it's comfortable!"
A moment of silence.
"But not in like, a weird way," Tyler hastily added.
"Uh, sure," Chris said, "anyway, listen up, because I'm going to explain the next part of the challenge. As you know, the driving force behind any horror story is often the antagonist- and tonight, you'll have to deal with some of the most iconic horror villains in history. There are six in total- each represents a particular horror platform. Basically, two of the villains will be classic movie antagonists, two will be representitives of horror games, and two will internet memes."
"...Internet memes?" Courtney frowned, "you mean like the cheeseburger cats and stuff?"
"Not necessarily," Chris chuckled, "if you spend any amount of time on the Internet, you're bound to come across some pretty messed up stuff. Now, winning the challenge is simple- you need to capture one of the horror villains, and bring them back here to me. The first to do this will win immunity, as well as a sweet reward. And because I'm a nice guy, I'll let you work in groups of no more than three."
The contestants, actually pleased at this turn of events, began talking amongst themselves.
"Yo, Tyler," Duncan called, "you want to work with DJ and I?"
"Sorry dude," Tyler smirked, "I want to win this challenge on my own!"
With that, the athlete charged off.
"Hey, I'll work with you guys!" Geoff offered.
"Alright," Duncan smiled, "welcome to the group!"
"Geoff?" Courtney frowned, "but..."
"Oh, hey, I'm sorry babe," Geoff frowned, "another time, okay?"
"Yeah, okay," Courtney frowned, "I'll find someone else, I guess?"
Lucky was examining his gun when Quinn approached him.
"Hey," she smiled, "so, I was thinking. Maybe you'd be interested in teaming up?"
"Yeah," Lucky nodded, "I guess it would be nice to have someone watch my back for this challenge."
"This challenge?" Quinn smiled, "You're thinking small. You and me... We could do big things."
"Look, I'm not looking for a-" Lucky started.
"Hey, Lucky," sunny greeted cheerfully, " i was wondering, any chance you want to work together for this challenge?"
"Yeah, sure, Sweetheart," Lucky nodded, "you, me and Quinn makes a group of three. We should cruise through this challenge."
"Wait. You... And Quinn?"
"In a group, yes," Quinn smirked, "hear that, 'sweetheart'? You and I are going to be best friends."
Quinn continued to smile at Sunny, who glared back in response. Lucky, who immediately picked up on the tension, feigned ignorance.
"Okay," he smiled, "lets get going, shall we?"
As the three set off, Lance watched with a scowl on his face.
"I can't believe it- he didn't check with me first?" Lance frowned.
"Of course not," Vevo said, "you think you can trust him? He's a shitty person, and a shittier friend."
"Yeah, cause friendship is something you know so much about," Lance snapped.
"That's because I'm a genius," Vevo said, "people like me... Artists, men of vision, we aren't truly appreciated until after we die. Of course, I- we- will have a million dollars in prize money to keep us warm until then, so who cares?"
"Yeah, whatever," Lance scoffed, "lets get going."
"Yes, lets," Eva agreed, appearing next to them, "you boys look good wearing a dress, by the way."
"Shut up," Lance sighed, beginning to walk off.
The other contestants had also finished their preparations. Gwen and Cody, of course, were working together while Alejandro and Johnny each decided to set off on their own.
Courtney- who was terrified of horror movies, though she would never admit it- was still frantically searching for a partner. The only person left, however, was Miri. Courtney had never actually spoken to the redhead before, so she was a bit hesitant to ask for help.
"um, hey," Courtney frowned, "so... I mean, we're the last two players here, so I was wondering if maybe you'd want to... Team up?"
Miri stroked her chin, thinking.
"Interesting proposal," she nodded, "hm... With both of our intellects put together, I'd say we have a 76% success rate! Sure, I'm in!"
"Great!" Courtney smiled, "So um... What do we do, exactly?"
~o.0.o~
Duncan, Geoff, and DJ were walking through the wilds, staying alert to any impending threats.
"So, who do you think Chris brought to the island?" Geoff asked, "Do you think we'll get to fight Freddy Krueger?"
"Slow down, Ms. Fairy Princess," Duncan teased, "we need to play it safe for right now. We have absolutely no idea what we're up against."
"I know," Geoff agreed, "but I'm stoked for this challenge! Remember the horror challenge last season? We totally dominated!"
"Didn't you guys just stand around listening to music?" DJ asked.
"Well... I mean yeah, but still!" Geoff frowned, "We can totally- AGHHHHHHHHHHH!"
DJ and Duncan turned just in time to see Geoff get grabbed from behind, and pulled into the darkness.
"GEOFF?!" Duncan exclaimed, rushing forward. Duncan was taken aback, however, when Piggsy from the game Manhunt leapt out of the bushes, wielding a chainsaw.
"WHAT THE HELL-" Duncan shouted, as DJ fainted.
Duncan grabbed one of the guns that came with his uniform- like Lucky's, it too used rubber bullets. He raised the pistol, and fired at Piggsy, who still rushed forward, seemingly unaffected. Duncan scrambled to get away, falling over in the process. Before he could get to his feet, Piggsy hit hime over the head, knocking him unconscious. Piggsy turned, grabbed Duncan's feet, and began to drag him away.
~o.0.o~
"Holy shit," Lucky frowned, "did you guys see that?"
Lucky, Quinn, and Sunny watched the scene unfold from a distance, hesitant to make a move.
"He took care of Geoff and Duncan like it was nothing," Lucky said, shaking his head.
"Maybe we should help them," Sunny suggested, "before that guy gets back."
"What, are you joking?" Quinn demanded, "They're the enemy! If we do anything, we should follow after him, and get the drop on him as soon as he gets distracted. Then we drag his ass back to Chris, and get the reward."
"Lucky, back me up here!" Sunny pleaded, "You know it's the right thing to do!"
"Listen," Lucky started, "I-"
Suddenly, a large pink form flew into Lucky's chest, knocking him to the ground.
"What in the god damn-" Lucky started.
Lucky tried to move, but whatever attacked him had him pinned down. Lucky looked up to see what it was- only to find a large, pink, cartoon pony on top of him.
"You gotta be kidding me," Lucky groaned.
The pony began giggling, and raised a knife.
"Oh, I'm so excited!" The pony smiled, "We get to make cupcakes together! I just love making cupcakes with my friends! Oh, but you don't look so happy- come on, smile! Or, i know! I'll MAKE you smile!"
The pony lowered her knife to Lucky's face, only to be roughly shoved To the ground by Quinn. Quinn kicked the knife out of her hand, and then delivered another kick to the pony's face. The pony fell silent, and ceased all movement.
Quinn smiled at Lucky, and held out her hand.
"Thanks," Lucky said, "I owe you one."
"Don't worry about it. I wasn't going to let you-" Quinn started.
Sunny let out a shriek, and the two turned to see her trying to fight off Slenderman.
"Sunny!" Lucky shouted, rushing forward. Lucky, however, was once more tackled to the ground by the pony.
When Quinn went to go help this time, she was just shoved aside.
"Quinn!" Lucky choked out, "Boom...stick!"
Quinn grabbed the shotgun Lucky had dropped, and gave it a swing- sending it straight into the ponies face. She fell to the ground, seemingly out for the count. Lucky got to his feet, and looked around- Sunny had vanished, seemingly abducted.
"We gotta go after her," Lucky said.
"WHAT? Are you stupid?" Quinn demanded, "We managed to take out one of the monsters- lets bring it back, and get our reward."
"Look, she would do the same for me-" Lucky began.
"Would she?" Quinn asked, "Listen to me very carefully. If you get attached, you're going to make mistakes, and you're going to end up hurt. Bad. Take it from someone who knows."
Lucky shook his head.
"Why do you want to save her, anyway? Who cares?" Quinn asked.
"Look, I'm going after her," Lucky sighed, "if you want to come with, fine. If not, i hope you enjoy the reward."
Lucky walked off, with an annoyed Quinn following behind.
~o.0.o~
Miri and Courtney were sitting inside the girls cabin, talking.
"Okay," Miri smiled, "it's a good plan. We get one of those guys to chase us into the cabin. They set off the tripwire, and the log we have set up swings down and hits them."
"okay," Courtney nodded, "which one of us should-"
All of a sudden, Tyler walked up to the cabins.
"hey!" Tyler exclaimed, "there you guys are! I thought i saw-"
"Tyler, NO!" Miri shouted.
It was too late- Tyler broke the tripwire, and the log swung down and hit him square in the chest, sending him flying.
"oh no," Courtney groaned, "let's go see if he's okay!"
~o.0.o~
Cody and Gwen were slowly making their way through the wilds, looking around at their surroundings.
"Look, there's nothing here," Gwen stated, "let's just go back."
Before Cody could respond, a man dressed as Jason rushed out at them from the darkness.
"Cody-!" Gwen started.
"I'm Batman," Cody frowned, a determined look on his face. As the figure got closer, Cody grabbed a smoke bomb from his utility belt, and threw it on the ground. A thick smoke began to fill the area, and Jason looked around, confused. A second later, Gwen and Cody snuck up from behind, and threw a sack over his head. Cody followed this up by a quick smack with a batarang.
"okay, that was kinda fun," Gwen admitted.
"Told you," Cody agreed, "now lets get back to camp!"
~o.0.o~
Thirty minutes later, and Chris had all the contestants lined up at the beach- except for Tyler.
"Well, i have good news and bad news," Chris said, "the bad news is that Cody and Gwen managed to win today's challenge!"
The contestants all groaned, minus Cody and Gwen, who just smiled at each other.
"So, they'll get to enjoy their reward- a ride back to the mainland where they'll enjoy a horror movie marathon complete with snacks and everything!" Chris continued, "The good news for you guys is that, because of a mishap, there won't be an elimination tonight due to medical evacuation!"
"Oh no," DJ gasped, "is that why Tyler isnt here?"
Chris nodded.
"As of right now, Tyler had been officially eliminated. You have Miri and Courtney to thank for that."
"Nice going, you guys!" Eva said, smiling, "i never knew you had it in you!"
"It was an ACCIDENT!" Courtney exclaimed, "Really!"
"Mind if DJ and i say goodbye?" Duncan asked, "he was a good friend."
"sure, whatever," Chris shrugged, "just make it quick. Cody and Gwen, get ready for your night out!"
~o.0.o~
"Oh man, that was great!" Cody cheered, "I love scary movies!"
"That... Was kind of nice, wasn't it?" Gwen nodded.
It was several hours later, and the two were on their way back to camp.
"Hey, Cody?"
"Yeah?"
"Listen," Gwen sighed, "you're... A good friend. And... I feel like I can trust you. You've been there for me. A lot."
"Of course," Cody nodded, "what are friends for?"
"i just..." Gwen started, "I think it's time to tell you."
"Tell me what?" Cody asked, somewhat worried.
"Everything."
