Brook's POV
*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*
I slam my hand on my clock silencing it so I don't wake up Kaitlyn. It's 6:30, I don't have to get up for another hour but I want to go for a run. School doesn't start until 9. I wake up Maya and the husky puppy that I named Nala. I get in running clothes and we run until 7:15. When I get to the dorm I shower. Then over the PA we hear Chiron's recorded voice saying,
'Good morning everyone! It's now 7:30, school starts in a hour and a half! Breakfast will be served in the mess hall, please sit with your respective tables. Have a good day and may the gods be with you!'
"Morning Kait." I say as I tie my robe around me.
"Hey!" She says.
"You showering this morning?"
"Nah, showered last night. Come on we need to pick out our first day of school outfit!"
"What's the big deal?"
"There is no way in Tartarus am I letting you go in just anything. You need something that says 'Brook'."
"Fine."
We walk in to the closet. I go to my side and search through the clothes. I pick out a loose white top with a picture of a wave that says 'CHASE THE WAVES', jean short shorts and grey high top converse. I got to my dresser and pick out a teal beanie and teal and black bracelet. I put on my clothes and turn to Kaitlyn and see that she is wearing a short sheer pinkish red dress with a dark jean vest and high top black converse.
"You look nice." I tell her.
"Thanks, you too, very Brook. I still need to do my hair and makeup though."
"But we only have a half hour and we need to eat."
"Oh it will only take a second." She says and then closes her eyes. Suddenly the bottom of her hair curls, her lips turn light pink, her lashes grow and become thicker, and her nails turn french.
"What the heck!" I say.
"Oh I forgot to mention as one of my abilities inherited from my mother is I can morph to look like any person or anything I want."
"Sweet. Let's go to breakfast."
We walk to the mess hall and get our breakfast and head our separate ways to our tables.
"Good morning Brook." Percy says. He is the only one sitting at the table, other than a cyclop. Wait, cyclop! I change Back Bitter into his true form and point it at the cyclop. The mess hall goes silent.
"You know there's a cyclop next to you right?" I say.
"Uh, yeah, about that. Brook, meet Tyson, our half brother."
"Hi…"
"Sister!" Tyson screams and gives me a bone crushing hug. I turn Back Biter back into the arm cuff and sit down.
"So you're my brother?" I ask.
"Yeah."
"That's chill."
"So, you excited for your first day of school?" Percy asks me.
"Yeah I geuss. I'm just a little nervous."
"We will be fine." He says as he gets up and stands on our table.
"Good morning everyone!" Percy calls. "Today is your first day of school. You must have your weapons on you at all times. You may not share your godly identities with any mortal. If you have any monster or demigod suspicion tell either Will Solace, Malcom Thorne or myself. If there is a monster attack to alert your fellow demigods please say 'Teras'. Now down to business. If you are in Pre-K to 5th grade please follow Malcom to Alpine Lower School. If you are in 6th to 8th grade please follow Will to Alpine Middle School. Now if you are in college and you live here and not dorming with the school there will be cars outside ready to take you. Lastly if you are in high school you will follow me the Goode Academy. This is how it will work every morning unless you are told otherwise. Your backpacks are on your beds with your books, locker number if you have lockers, gym clothes, and your class assignments. Meet back here in 5 minutes, You are dismissed."
We all run to our rooms. As I'm running I bump into someone and start to fall until they catch me.
"Good morning, babe." I look up and see that it was Nico, how cliche.
"Morning." I say. He is wearing a tight black muscle shirt, jeans, and maroon converse.
"You look beautiful. Lets go get our stuff." He says as we interlock hands and start to head to our dorms. We first go to his and pick up his stuff. On his bed sits a black, grey and red F Gear backpack. He is locker 13. Then we go to my room, on my bed there is a fake leather backpack with silver studs. I'm locker 57, so much for close lockers.
Once everyone gets down stairs we start to split into our groups. I see our gang standing on the outskirts of the group. Jade is wearing a black muscle shirt that says 'ARMY' across her chest, cameo jeans, black combat boots and her crossed spear ring that changes into her spear and shield. Layla is wearing a loose sheer button down maroon shirt, ripped black short-shorts, silver Docs, a silver cuff bracelet that has twisted snakes, and her silver winged necklace that turns into her crossbow and quiver. Mikayla is wearing a purple tank top, cropped leather jacket, mini skater skirt, fish net tights, black ankle boots, and her two rainbow dangling crystal earrings that turn into her twin daggers. Oliver is wearing a grey sweater, grey beanie, faded jeans, and brown All Stars. Ryder is wearing a black long sleeve shirt with a red eagle, patched jeans, and combat boots. Shane is wearing a plain white shirt, jeans and green nikes. Finally, Zeke is wearing a Yankees t shirt and basketball shorts.
"Well guys time to go." Percy says as he ushers us out.
"Yo Brook what locker?" Jade asks.
"57, you?"
"I'm 54 and Ryder is 55."
"Good, we're near each other. I think they are alphabetical."
"Yeah." She says as we arrive at the school.
"Ok guys." Percy says. "Head to your lockers. My class is in the West wing number 19, so room W-19. Have a good day and good luck."
Jade, Ryder, and Myself all head to our lockers. We start to put our stuff away. All off the sudden somebody pushes me out of the way. I turn to see a girl will long wavy red hair in a tight leather mini skirt and a tight pink tube top.
"Excuse me." I say to her. "But you blocking my locker."
"So?" She asks.
"So, I would like to get to it." I say as I start to get annoyed.
"Look girly, you are a nobody. You are obviously new here. All of us have been going to Alpine together and now that we are in high school we are in Goode. You will never belong here. As I said you're a loser, and will never be popular like me." She says.
"You know I really didn't ask for your pathetic life story, I just want to get to my locker. I'd suggest you move before I break your nose."
"Who do you think you…" She says but she gets cut off as someone comes up behind me and wraps their arms around my waist.
"Hey babe." They say. I immediately recognize that voice as Nico.
"Hey." I say.
"Who's the hottie?" The annoying girl says twirling her hair around her finger.
"I'm Brook's boyfriend, Nico." He says then kisses me on the cheek making it clear he's not interested in her. "Now can you please move?"
She huffs away and we finish putting my books away.
"What room do you have homeroom in?" He asks.
"Ummm, room N-7 with Mr. Blofis." I say.
"Good, me too. Actually all of the demigods in our grade have him. I can't wait for you to meet him, he's great."
"You know him? How?"
"Yeah, you'll see." He says with a sly grin and takes my hand.
We walk down the hall to our class. I sit next to Kait and Nico.
I look around and I realize that only us demigods are in this class, sweet.
"Good morning class! So I will be your homeroom and study hall teacher all year. For some of you I may also be your English teacher. You will have a half hour of home room and a hour of study hall. Here during study I will take attendants." He says, then we all gasp because he said it all in Ancient Greek. Suddenly he starts to laugh.
"You should see your faces." He says, speaking in English. "I knew that would get your attention. I bet you're all wondering what just happened. Basically, I'm Paul Blofis, Percy Jackson's step dad."
"Whoa!" We all say. Everyone looks at me and I just shrug, I really don't know much about him. I've never even met Sally, Percy's mom.
"Ok let's start attendants. Raise your hand when I say your name. Zeke Abel. Shane Bilk. Amy Candor. Hailey Del. Nico Di Angelo. Molly Ferrer. Jack Glen. Kaitlyn Harris. Susan Hepner. Taz Jones. Riley Kay. George Klint. Alexander Mass. Layla Menees. Oliver Nihearah. Chloe Optic. Sebastian Pommer. Nicole Schultz. Ryder Schultz. Emily Smith. Brook Sworn. Hector Teven. Mikayla Vince. Ok, looks like we are all here. Now we will go around the room and say our godly parent and your powers if you have. Don't worry this is a safe room. Annabeth Jackson put mist around it so the room sounds and looks normal to well normal humans. We will do it by the attendance list. Zeke?"
"I'm Zeke Abel Son of Athena and Legacy of Hermes. I have speed which I got from my grandfather."
"Shane Bilk son of Apollo, healer."
"Hi, I'm Amy Candor my mom is Tyche goddess of luck. I don't really have powers but I'm very lucky."
"Good morning, I'm Hailey Del daughter of Iris. I can change the color of any object and send Iris messages."
"Sup, I'm Nico Di Angelo the son of Hades god of the underworld. I can raise the dead and shadow travel. Nice to see you again Paul."
"I'm Molly Ferrer and my mother is Herma goddess of the day. I can bend light."
"Hey, I'm a son of Ourea god of mountains and I can control earth. By the way my name is Jack Glen."
"Hey everyone I'm Kaitlyn Harris, daughter of Aphrodite. I can charmspeak and morph to look like anyone."
"Um hi I'm uh Susan Hepner. I'm a daughter of Hephaestus and I'm ah good with metal."
"Taz Jones the name and fear is my game. My father is Phobos god of Fear. I can figure out your fear just by looking at at you."
"First off Taz I know it's your dad's job but stop trying to scare people. Second I'm Riley Kay daughter of Demeter and I can control plants."
"I'm George Klint son of Horea goddess of the seasons. I can bend the seasons to my will."
"My name is Alexander Mass so on Kratos god of strength and power."
"I'm Layla Menees daughter of Nyx. I can become invisible."
"I'm Oliver Nihareaha son of Morpheus. I can invade the dreams of others. I can also put people to sleep, whether or not that's a power I will never know." When Oliver says that the whole class laughs.
"Hi my name is Chloe Optic daughter of Astrea goddess of innocents. I can tell if you are guilty or innocent and of what by looking at you."
"I'm Sebastian Pommer son of Asteria goddess of the stars. I can name every star be looking at them and navigate using the stars."
"Hey I'm Nicole Rydel, Elpis goddess of hope is my mom. I can give and take away hope from people."
"Hey, I'm Jade Schultz daughter of Ares. I'm able to make any weapon appear out of thin air and sense an opponent's strengths and weaknesses in battle."
"I'm Ryder Schultz, Jade's twin and I can also sense an opponent's strengths and weaknesses but instead of the whole weapons thing I have the strength of 10 men."
"Hello, my name is Emily Smith daughter of Arua goddess of the breeze. I can control the wind."
"Hey I'm Brook Sworn daughter of Poseidon. I'm not so sure what all of my powers are but I know that I can talk to horses. My brother says that I should be able to create storms, earthquakes, talk to fish, control water, and some Poseidon kids can us water to heal." I say and I realize that after I do Mr. Blofis is staring at me.
"Ello I'm Hector Teven, my motha is Harmonia goddess of harmony. I can have people get along and stop skirmishes with the snap of my finger." As Hector says that I see like half of the girls in the room swoon at his British accent while all the guys are glaring at him. (A/N I did this for you J J: aw thanks C)
"Sup. I'm Mikayla Vince but you can call me Micky and if you call me Kayla I will break your nose. I'm the daughter of Hecate goddess of powers are well, magic."
"Nice to meet all of you." Mr. Blofis says. "I hope to get to know all of you over the course of the year. Class is over in 5 minutes so you can all hang out here until the bell rings. Ms. Sworn my I please speak with you?"
"Sure?" I say. What did I do? I walk over to his desk and he pulls me into a hug.
"It's great to finally meet you Brook. Annabeth and Percy told me lots about you, they speak very highly of you. Also, I'm supposed to tell you because your brother probably forgot you are coming to our apartment after school for dinner. By the way I'm your English teacher. Oh and call me Paul."
"It's very nice to meet you Paul. I'm very excited for dinner tonight. Can you please tell me where room E- 29 is?" I say. He points me to my next class. Turns out Nico and I are both going there. We have Math with Ms. Lopkin. We finally find the class and we sit down together in the middle next to the window. Riley sits in front us us with Kaitlyn. Behind us Emily and George sit together. Suddenly I feel someone sit next to Nico as I talk to Riley and Kait. Kaitlyn motions to me and whispers "Listen to their conversation". It takes me a minute to realize that she means Nico and the person next to him.
"Hey handsome." A high pitched voice says. I think it's that girl from this morning, but Nico doesn't answer so she keeps talking.
"Remember me from this morning." Yup definitely her. "My names Abigail, Abigail Hart. Why don't you ditch that girl of yours and hang out with me some time." Oh she is sooooooo going to get it. I'm about to answer her but Nico starts instead.
"Abigail, if you haven't noticed I'm really not interested. Brook is my girlfriend and there is nothing you can do about it so back off."
"Why do you want her anyways? I mean she's not even pretty." She says. At this Nico gets mad, you can practically feel death radiating off of him. He stands up and answers her.
"Brook is the most beautiful, intelligent, brave, kind and caring person I know. She is an amazing person and I'm sorry if you just can't see that, I'm sorry for anyone who can't see that. Now leave me and Brook alone, because nothing you can do will split us up!" He says and walks out. Did he really mean all of that? The whole room is staring at me, including Ms. Lopkin who walked in halfway through this whole ordeal.
"May I go see if he's okay, Ms. Lopkin?" I ask. She just nods her head yes and I run out of the room.
I see Nico down the hall drinking at the water fountain and I start to walk towards him. He doesn't realize I'm there as he stops drinking, he stands up straight his hands clutching the side of the fountain and his head hangs. I go up behind him and wrap my arms around his waist and rest my head on his back. He stiffens at first but then he notices me bracelet and relaxes.
"Thank you." I whisper. He turns around in my arms so we are face to face and he pulls me close to him so I rest my cheek on his heart. He kisses the top of my head and rests his cheek on it.
"I meant every word." He mumbles and I just snuggle closer to him. We stand there for only gods know how long then the class bell rings and everyone starts to file out of the class. I'm about to go in to get our bags when I see Kait carrying Nico's bag and Riley carrying mine and they give them to us. Now we have science. I chose Marine Biology, Kait is taking Endocrinology the study of hormones and Nico is taking Thanatology the study of death. I start to walk to Percy's classroom being that he's my teacher. I walk in and take a seat in the front row by the window which happens to be right by Percy's desk.
"Good morning Mr. Jackson." I say in a slightly mocking way.
"Morning Ms. Sworn, can you please come here because I need to have a mini conference with you." He says and I walk over to him.
"Sup?" I ask.
"I saw you and Nico in the hallway during class. I figured that something was wrong."
I tell him the whole story quickly. I go back to my seat once I was done there, by allowing Percy to start class
