Chapter 13- The Council
"Welcome to the Kingdom of Crocus Lu-chan"
…Snickers…
"Huh?"
"Natsuuu, I didn't know that Levy is a tourist guide"
"Yeah! Welcome to R.N Marionette Lu-chan! Welcome to the Kingdom of Crocus LU-CHAN!"
…Sniggers…
"NATSU! HAPPY!"
"COME BACK HERE!"
"Are you sure you want to stay at a hotel, Lucy? The royal family is-"
"I'm sure Ezra, I'm just gonna stay at Levy's room for a bit. Once we moved all the books and equipment, we'll do fine"
"Eh, how did you know Lu-chan?"
"Oh, I just know…"
A celestial mage, huh?" Elder Yajima pondered wiping his head with his hand.
After docking the ship, Freed immediately went to the castle to give his report. He would like to ask Levy for assistance but seeing her worn-out from their travel, he doesn't have the heart to ask her. He immediately went to the council to give his full report on what happened in the island- the ruins, the Tenrou tree, the celestial spirit Leo, Happy and finally Lucy. The elders were too caught in his report that several people including the King and Queen their self has joined the meeting.
"Do you have any documentation on this Freed-san?" the Queen inquired sitting next to her husband at the very back of the amphitheater board room.
"My-my Queen!" the Elder Yajima stuttered while he almost tripped himself when he swiftly stood up. "My King!" he further gasped. The rest of the Elders and scholars stood up and bowed their heads in full respect.
"My I request for forgiveness my Highnesses, we failed to greet you properly" Yajima said looking at the royal couple at the back of the room.
"No need to apologize. We too just want to listen" the King cheerfully said waving his hand in dismissal. "Freed-san if you may."
"Thank you, my King" Freed bowed his head once more. He produce a holographic cube that he sets by his feet which generates a massive holographic projection of the whole Tenrou Island, he manipulated the hologram even further by using his hands. "I recorded this while on the island" he explained.
"There were animals or monsters in the island that we haven't seen before" he enchanced the scene bringing forth the monster that Erza and Natsu fought and other several deadly looking ones. The whole room whispered and muttered loudly, some were standing to look closer while others seems to be hiding behind the wooden tables.
"There are also floras that were extinct or we taught they were" he focused the image closer to the plants that he gathered back for studies.
"And this…" a much smaller panel opened up and a gasped erupted from the whole room. Flickering and moving in front of their very eyes was the stunning Exceed village with its miniature houses and flying cats. "On our last day on the island, Happy our exceed companion, showed us his village where we are fully greeted and welcomed."
Freed showed them several more recorded videos and scenes that he documented, from the smallest rock formation to the old cabin in the middle of the forest or what he called the Enchanted slash Rune House.
"That concludes my report" he finally said. The room was silent, no one talked and it seems like no one is breathing. Only when a random lady said "Oh my" that the room abruptly went into motion. A collection of talking, shouting, some were even weeping from utter excitement to horror.
"This is the answer to our problems. We borrowed the books that were in that house, a whole room full of books! A whole library full of written words that was lost during the Great Fire." Freed cleared his throat "-and Lucy promised to lend her help and ability to help us understand and clear the problem."
The whole room mumbles with questions and thrill until someone cried out "How can you be sure that girl will help us? She might endanger us all" the crowd roars and questions came pouring out.
"She's a mage, she can kill us!"
"She'll betray us"
"A summoner, how can we now that she will not summon a beast?"
"She might have summoned that dragon!"
"She can hurt us"
"We will all be killed"
"WE WILL BE KILLED IF WE DON'T TAKE THE CHANCE!" Freed snapped muting the crowd before him. "Yes, she may or may not do those things but… how can we be sure if we don't take the risk? Our lives will be at stake either way. That is, Fiore and all the residing continents will be killed by the dragon or we will die trying to stop it. We wouldn't know if we don't try… she's the answer that we all seek and the group believe in her... I believe in her" Freed panted, massaging his neck to help ease the discomfort of chattering too much.
Silence filled the room once more.
"Thank you Freed" someone chuckled lightly. Freed widened his eyes in surprise and turned at the door at top of the amphitheater room. The whole room shifted to look at the late comer.
"Elder Makarov, you're back!" Freed gushed out loud, surprised.
"I'm back!" Makarov prattled deafeningly as he swaggered down the aisle into the center of the room where the high table of the Council is located.
Out of the corner of his eyes he noticed two distinct duos out at the back "My King and Queen, I didn't see you there" he laughed.
"Then we are getting better blending into the crowd" the Queen giggled while the King chuckled. "Carry on Makarov, we are just here to listen. It's better to listen this way than to hear some boring report later on, it's more entertaining" the King laughed.
Makarov joined the laugher and then he moved his white robe in the side so he can sit up in the high chair designated for him, which he have difficulty reaching due to his small stature and old age. Once he settled down, with the help of others, he looked at Freed once more and said "So… when can we see the charming little lady?"
"I'm sorry Lu-chan, I thought that we could relax at least a little longer" Levy huffed massaging her sore shoulders.
"Well Erza insisted that I should get my own room anyways, not that I have many possessions" Lucy said sitting on Lev's bed.
"Oh, right! We did left your furnishes and other things on the island. Although we all insisted that we could carry your stuff here at the mainland" Levy answered back while tying her hair up.
Some of those are not mine anyway. I think the guild made that cabin into a storage area, from Cana's old beer barrel up to Erza's hundreds of armors, she sweat- dropped.
"It's alright! It's not that something's gonna happened to my stuff anyway. Right now, that place is the safest place I could think of. I don't want to leave the cabin barren, it's like I'm removing its life along with its memories. It's precious to me"Lucy concluded sighing.
"Well, I guess. But at least you took your personal stuff and clothes. Anyway Lu-chan aren't you a little hot with that muffler?" Levy asked eyeing the scarf on Lucy's neck. "It kinda looks like... scales"
"It is and it's precious to me" she whispered. Feeling this around my neck seems like you're near.
Seeing the look on her face, Levy dropped the question and plopped down her messy bed that was filled with piles of books that she borrowed from Lucy. I can't believe that most of these books are based on magic.
"I wish I could read them all of the same time" she sighed loudly eyeing a golden bound letter book at the side of her head"
"You could you know?" Lucy said, she snickered when she saw that Levy's eyes lit up expectedly. "I mean, not all of them at once but you can read faster than usual" she pondered tilting her head at the side while she holds her chin.
"What do you mean? There's no such thing as that" Levy burbled sitting up.
"There was, back in my time. Gah! I feel so old" she cackled loudly. She exhaled and hobbled on her feet looking for her sling bag that was missing from the mess in the room. Good thing Erza insisted to have my own room or it will take ages for us to clean this up.
She found her bag behind a heap of clothes and hastily searched the inside of it. She peeped in delight when she saw what she's looking for. She hurriedly moved next to a very curious Levy, and then she shoved the object into the bluennette's hand. Lucy smiled excitedly "Go on use it."
"Um Lu-chan? What do you mean, it's just glasses" Levy asked while she flips the eyeglasses around her hand. She looked up at Lucy and sighed when she saw her stunning smile. She then placed it on her face and grabbed the nearest book next to her. "Alright, if you insist" she begins to read.
"Er, Lu-chan. I don't want to be rude but what's supposed to happen?" she looked up at a frowning Lucy.
"Hmmpp… I don't understand" she gently took the glasses of Levy's face and begins to use it. She quickly grabbed the book out of Levy's hand and reads. Levy's eyes widen seeing how fast Lucy flipped the pages of the book, a small magical circle appeared and it flickers in tune with Lucy's reading.
"Wow" Levy said wide-eyed, leaning forward. "Is that magic?" Lucy stopped reading and glanced at the overwhelm Levy.
"I guess! Argg. It's so frustrating. I thought that even non-magical users can use this gale-force glasses. So how come?" Lucy angrily tossed the glasses at the side which Levy tried to catch immediately.
"So before, even non-magical users can use them huh?" Levy asked quizzically while looking at the glasses. Lucy just nodded, observing at the ceiling.
"Then! I'll try Lu-chan. I'll be a mage!" she smiled widely. "Not a full mage but magy… is that even a word?... enough to handle this magical stuff" she said eyes wide with determination.
Lucy laughed at hugged Levy "I'll help you"
"Thank you Lu-chan. If the past me can handle it. So can I" she giggled hugging Lucy in return. Oh Levy-chan if you only knew.
A loud knock was heard, before the girls could react, a pink hair suddenly appeared followed by blue furry ears and a wild black mane.
"Oi Luce, Levy we have to go. Erza is already waiting for us outside" Natsu said, followed by an "Aye! Come on"
"Shesh, I don't know why we have to go so soon. I didn't even have a time to nap" groaned a very annoyed Gray behind the door.
"We're coming!"
Hey Natsu!
How are you? Do you remember the times where we would go now mission after the other? How I miss those times. Right now, I don't even know where to put myself? That after this events, what will I do? There's no guild anymore and this lifetime is different from ours. How could I survive?
How?
Natsu, I wish you were here, you will surely know what to do.
I need you.
Love,
Lucy
