I do not own Fairy Tail

Chapter 16- Little Healer

"Lucy?"

"Can you hear me"

"Lusshhyy"

"Wake up"

"Lucy-san"

"..."

Lucy opened her eyes just to shut again as a blinding light connected to her eyes. "Her eyes are responsive, constricting to light" a soft angelic voice uttered. "Hello Heartfilia-san, how are you feeling?" the voice asked.

Lucy tried to moved her body upwards toward the voice, but was stopped by a soft hand on her shoulders "Please don't move suddenly, you'll get dizzy" the voice whispered. Lucy turned her head and focused her blurred sight to the girl standing beside the bed she was occupying. "Ummm, Wendy?" she asked confused.

The petite young girl of 16 years with dark blue hair in a bun, smiled excitedly as she clapped her hands at front of her white apron dress. "Nice to finally meet you Heartfilia-san, we've been hearing so much about you" she giggled "And yes, my name is Wendy, Wendy Cher."

Despite of her confusion, Lucy smiled widely, finally seeing the shy small girl at her past in this lifetime. "Hi Wendy, please call me Lucy" she smiled as she followed with a question "Where am I?"

She looked at her surrounding with awe, despite the white and clean interior of the room, you can still see the splendor and richness of the design and furniture. "You're inside one of the room at the hospital wing of palace. The Royal Highnesses specifically asked to move you here after what happened in the grand hall" Wendy giggled "I've been supervising your recovery since yesterday" she smiled sweetly.

Lucy moved her white covers and slowly sits up, she looked at the girl beside her who was now checking the fluids that are connected to her. "What happened?" she asked questioningly.

"Well…" she said while she uploads her records to the small device in her hands "An intensity 9 earthquake occurred yesterday morning, destroying almost half the kingdom and the surrounding cities" she sigh loudly. She turned around and took a chair and sat on it beside Lucy's bed facing her. "Many people died… and the kingdom is in the state of calamity" she whispered sadly. "The hotel you were staying collapsed and almost everyone died…"

Lucy gasped out loud; shaking hands quickly covered her mouth, Natsu she remembered. "NATSU!-" she yelled, frightening the bluenette. "Where's Natsu, is he okay?" she asked hurriedly, hands reaching out towards the shocked girl.

"Relax Lucy-san, he's fine, bruised and beaten up but fine nonetheless. But he hasn't wake up since yesterday" she said. "He has a big gash up his head and so much blood has been lost but doctors had done a great job to stabilized his condition." She added, holding Lucy's hand really tight.

"When we found out that the hotel you're staying collapse, everyone panicked and they prioritized your retrieval. Ezra was out of the country but Gray and the other knights fought their way through the rubble" she said, looking deeply in Lucy's eyes.

"Hours past and your bodies have not been found despite the corpses surrounding the area" she whispered, shivering by the thought. "That's when your spirits, the lion and the maiden, emerged through the wreckage, bloody and bruised, holding both you and Natsu-sans unconscious body"

"We immediately brought you to the common infirmary but it was causing so much commotions that they decided to give you guys your own rooms" she stated.

Lucy sighed and decided to lie down on the bed again, "What happened to the others Wendy? To Levy?" she asked looking at her insignia in front of her face.

"Oh you mean the members of Fairy Tail?" she smiled happily. "They are shaken and drained but fine, only you and Natsu-san were inside the hotel when that happened". Lucy smiled wearily, quite stunned by the story.

"Wendy? Can I see him?" Lucy looked hopefully at the young girl who responded with a smile. "I already informed the doctor of your status Lucy-san, it's up to you if you can stand"

Lucy slowly stood up "Of course I can! I'm a Fairy Tail mage! No one can beat me" she laughed jokingly at Wendy who stood up to support her. "I wish I am too" Wendy whispered, which Lucy heard in return.

"Well would you like to hear a story while we walked to Natsu's room?" Lucy giggled. "Story?" Wendy inquired holding Lucy's IV fluid in hand.

"Yes! About a young wind dragon slayer, named Wendy Marvell"

"I'll leave you two alone, if ever you need me Lucy-san. Just press the buzzer at Natsu-san's headboard"

Lucy nodded her head while see looked at Wendy's fleeting figure. She turned her head to look at the sleeping man before her. Her Natsu, no… her Natsu was gone, this man maybe him but it's just not the same anymore.

"Baka" she uttered while she settled down a chair besides the bed.

"BAKA" she said more loudly, bangs covering her face while tears slowly fall down on her quivering lips. "Why? Why would you do that?" hands clutching her hospital dress.

"You're not a mage anymore… Why would you risk your life to protect me?" she looked at front, questioning his serene and peaceful face.

"WHAT THE HELL NATSU!" she screamed. "Just why!" she stood up her tears continue to fall down. "You could have… died" she whispered staring at his face. "You can't protect me now Natsu" she continued, moving her hands to touch his face. "You can't, not anymore."

"It's my time to protect you" Lucy sat down again, hand still caressing his face gently. "So please don't leave me… not until I'm ready to say goodbye" she whispered resting her head on the bed while her hand travelled down to his hand. "Your face is the last thing I want to see when I leave this world behind… so please bear with me until then" she cried softly planting her face on the bed's surface, her hand still holding Natsu's motionless one.

"Please don't leave" she wept silently until sleep finally settled down on her weary figure. Unknown to her, Natsu have been listening to her from the moment she walked through the door.

A tear left his eye. He squeezed her hand really tight while his other hand found its way to her hair. He shifted his weight to his side to look at the blonde's tear-streaked face.

He moved his hand from her hair and gently swept the stray tears from Lucy's face. He sniffed and scratched his eyes hard. Damnit! Why am I feeling this way?

"You told me, you don't want me to leave" he whispered, looking intently on her face. "But why does it feels like you're saying goodbye…"

"Don't leave me Luce…"

"I need you too"

"How are things in there?" Elder Makarov asked, looking at the holographic projection of one of the kingdom's Knight Commanders, Jellal.

"The dragon was sighted near the southern ruins, we are in middle of evacuating the people of the surrounding cities" the blue-haired man said, looking jadedly at the Elder's face. "We are still in the middle of figuring out the dragon's movements. It seems that it's still weak from his imprisonment and it's just looking for a place to rest" Jellal added.

Makarov nodded his head, looking tiredly at the Councils assembly room. The Council Elders and scholars have been dispatched to different areas of the kingdom, running around like frantic animals helping one division to another. The 7 Knights Commanders along with their respected Knight Sergeants and teams have been sent out to different parts of Fiore to help and protect those in need. The Lead Team spearheading the research of the magic weapon, also known as Fairy Tail, is still in the midst of finding the core element of the weapons they are producing. Everyone is in distress, everything is in chaos.

"Have you seen Ezra, Jellal?" Makarov asked looking at the man's figure in front of him. "I believe Ezra and her knights are still following the dragon. We tried to stop her and asked her to focus on retrieval and protection. But knowing her-" Jellal sighed, running his hands to his hair. "Even the Grand Master tried to stop her but she just looked at him fiercely and said that she's a member of Fairy Tail." He said deadpanned.

"Even the highest ranking Knight can't stop her and we are reporting under him" Jellal groaned again, tired of all the drama.

Makarov snickered softly getting amused at Jellal's account. "I can imagine Gildart's face when he received Ezra's death stare" he laughed. "She will be back, she promised the group to be back…" Makarov added.

"I know Elder and I believe in her" Jellal smiled. "I better go back to the field, people are panicking" he said.

"Roger that, stay safe Jellal." With that Makarov turned off the projection. He sighed, clearly distress, time is running out. Edolas weapons are being produced every day, courtesy of Natsu and Gajeel, but they still lack the vital component. There are even whispers among the other departments of using Lucy's body to harvest magic causing a fight between the leading team and the others. This is getting out of hand.

He was about to call Mirajane when the Kingdom's alarm blasted off which signals an outside attack.

"Lucy-san?"

"Lucy-san"

"Please wake up"

Lucy woke up the second time in that day. She scratched her eyes and tried to lift herself from her position but halted when she felt a warm solid grip on her hand. She looked up and saw Natsu facing her with his hand holding hers. I guess he woke up.

"Lucy-san" a voice started again. She straightened herself whist slowly removing her hand from Natsu. She looked behind her and saw Wendy's gloomy face. "Im sorry I woke you up. But I had to" she said looking at her sadly.

"Is something wrong Wendy-chan" Lucy asked. Wendy shifted her gaze to the side. "I have to bring you to your room now" she whispered. Lucy gradually stood up to look at the young girl fully. "Hey, are you ok?" she questioned worriedly.

Wendy sluggishly looked at Lucy, eyes wet with unshed tears. "This maybe the last time we would see each other Lucy-san" she unhappily held. "The kingdom's alarm was turned off. There has been a large attack at the southern villages with a large amount of casualties" she whispered.

"We were asked to help out, this maybe the last time we will see each other" she shakily puts her hands on her face, weeping silently.

"I really want to spend more time with you Lucy-san. I felt like I known you for so long. You're like a big sister" she whispered. Without further delay Lucy immediately embrace the younger girl in her arms. "This is not the end Wendy-chan. You will be safe. This war will be over soon" she shakily uttered.

Wendy nodded, wiping the tears in her eyes. She smiled at the older female sweetly. "You're right and I have to do my best to help those in need" she turned her gaze downwards. "I really hope that we will survive this ordeal" she muttered.

"You will" Lucy hugged the girl tighter. Lucy released the bluenette and reached for her neck. She gently removed one single necklace and gently hooked it around Wendy's neck.

"This will help you throughout the ordeal" Lucy said.

Wendy was surprised by Lucy's actions; she instantly stared down at her chest to look at the necklace, more specifically the silver pendant dangling on it. Her eyes widen and she stammered "This is the Leading Team's symbol, Fairy Tail…" she looked up at the blond in front of her, flabbergasted.

"Lucy-san… I can't! This is yours-" she started but Lucy stopped her by showing her hand which held the guild's symbol.

"Hush, you're a part of the team from the very beginning. I'm just returning what's rightfully yours." she smiled staring at the astounded girl in front of her.
