Chapter 67
Grace
I went out because I needed to get out of that house. It was just a big ball of energy and hormones and I hated it. Isabel is going to have her baby soon. Well that's what everyone is assuming, Cole has no time or energy to take her to a doctor. Which isn't smart on his part. Sam told him to take her.
"I got it under control." Cole insisted.
Sam just nodded.
"You don't have faith in me?"
"It's not that, I just think you should take her to a doctor."
"Why? Do you think the baby di-" He covered his mouth with both hands and his eyes darted over towards me. "Damnit, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it that way."
"What other way was it meant to be said?" Sam asked.
Cole ran his hands through his hair, spun on his heel, and walked down the hall. Sam turned to me and knelt in front of me.
"I'm sor-"
"It's ok." I said cutting Sam off.
"Ok, well I'm going to take a shower."
"Alright, I'm ganna go out."
"You want me to come?" He ask.
"No I'll be fine."
"K… Get yourself something nice. Don't worry about the cost."
I got up, and walked out the door. I drove down the road, looking out my window at the falling leaves around me. I drove to a little store in the middle of a town nearby. I don't remember the name though. I walk in and find a beautiful black dress. I walked over to it and looked at the price. $50 yikes. I might not seem like a lot but with our budget it is a lot. Sam's words kept running through my head though. I decided I would call him and see what he says.
"Hello?" He sounds concerned.
"Babe, what's wrong?" I asked.
"It's Isabel."
"What's wrong with her?"
I then heard screaming in the back ground.
"I think she's in labor Grace."
"Ok, I'm on my way home, tell her to hang in there."
"Ok I will. I love you."
"Love you too."
I hung up and put my keys in the ignition of my car. It felt like the longest drive of my life. When I pulled into the drive way Sam was outside. I got out and ran to the house.
"We don't know what to do." He said.
"It's ok," I walked in and heard Isabel scream. I looked back at Sam and fear ran across his eyes.
I walked into Cole and Isabel's room and Cole looked up at me.
"I don't know what to do Grace." He said. When he said that Isabel saw me.
"The pain hurts so much Grace." She said tears streaming down her face.
"Ok hold on, I'm going to help." I said running out of the room. Sam was standing next to the couch, a hand raked through his hair. I ran past him grabbing a bowl.
"Sam please go grab me a lot of towels," I yelled, my head in a cupboard. I filled the bowl that I grabbed with water. I put it in Isabel's room and ran back out. Sam had towels in his hands when I ran past. I grabbed them and started to pace back to the room, I turned around and kissed him.
"Love you baby." I said speed walking away.
I walked into the room and placed towels everywhere around Isabel.
"Cole go get me my makeup cleaner in my bathroom, on the counter." He nodded and walked out of the room.
"Grace it hurts." Isabel said squeezing her eyes shut.
"Shhh I know it does. Now I'm going to help you ok? And it will be over soon."
Cole comes back with my makeup cleaner, I tell him to wipe off the runny mascara on Isabel's face.
"Ok Isabel, when I tell you, push."
She nodded, fear flooding her eyes. Cole threw out the wipes and stood by the door.
"I don't think I'll be able to handle this." Cole said.
"Ok go out with the boys." I said.
He stepped outside and I turned my attention to Isabel.
"Ready?" I asked. She clenched her teeth making her jaw lock, showing me that she was holding back pain and screams. "Feel free to scream." I said laughing.
With that she was letting out screams as I told her to push.
"You are almost there." I tell Isabel.
"It hurts so much." She wines.
"I know. I know."
Cole
They have been in that room for almost 2 hours. I hope everything is ok. I heard screaming once in a while but nothing that I should really be concerned like Sam said.
"She'll be ok." Sam said rubbing my back.
"I know, I'm worried though." I said, my voice cracking.
"Don't-"
"Cole," Grace said walking out.
I looked up at Grace, she was wiping her hands with a towel.
"Come see your babies."
"Wait what?
"Twins."
I got up and flew to the bedroom, Isabel was sitting on the bed looking at the babies.
"No ambulance." I said shrugging.
"They got lost, I bet."
"Well you need to go to the hospital baby." I sat on the bed and took one on the little people into my arms.
"That's the girl. And I know." Her lips drawn in a straight line.
I leaned over to her and kissed them. I look down at the little child in her arms and smile. I was so nervous to have a family, but now having a girl I can call mine and two babies, it makes me so happy.
Isabel
"So what are the names?" Cole asked.
"How about you name the girl, and I'll name the boy." I suggested.
"Sure," he pauses for a moment, "Ayla."
"Ayla?"
"Yeah." Cole smiles.
"Where did you come up with that?"
"I have been looking at names for a while in my free time. I'm not always playing drums downstairs."
"Well I like it, but now I need to pick the boy's name."
Cole sat next to me holding the unnamed boy.
"How about Braden?"
"I like that. Is that the name you want?"
"Yes I love it."
"Ayla St. Clair and Braden St. Clair." Cole smiled.
There was a knock on the door and Grace walked in.
"The ambulance is here. Are you ready to go Isabel?"
I nodded. Grace walked out and soon three men walked in with a stretcher. I was picked up and put on it. The babies were taken by one of the men and walked out of the room. I followed and put a jacket on, and quickly grabbed a jacket for Isabel. I hopped into the ambulance and sat right next to her holding her hand the whole way.
