How Could You?
This story starts around the time of season 5 episode 5
Prologue
Tim was lying in his hospital bed looking at Ashely wishing silently that it was Lucy sitting in the chair next to him. He knew from that first kiss in her apartment as Dim and Juicy that it was something more between them, something real, it was definitely not pretend for him and was more than basic biology. He had sent Lucy to UC school in hopes that he could tame his feelings but it wasn't working and it was today after surgery that he knew Lucy was the girl for him, and not Ashley. So as much as it pained him to hurt to Ashley like this Tim broke up with her before Lucy showed up after her shift once Grey took his job back from her.
Tim waited 3 weeks until he saw that Lucy was hesitant in her relationship with Chris before making his move. He waited for her to break up with Chris and then they went on their first real date, had their first real kiss. Lucy said she wanted to take it slow and do it right and that made him happy that she wanted to make it work. After 3 months together they had just started sleeping together and Tim felt on top of the world he knew Lucy was his future and he was happy exactly where he was.
Chapter 1
Tim and Lucy were lying in bed together when his phone rang again.
Lucy: Babe, who keeps calling
Tim: Um, it's no one.
Lucy: Uh, huh. This is the fifth time your phone went off today, not to mention all the beeps from the messages. What's going on?
Tim: Ashley keeps calling. Says she wants to talk.
Lucy: Oh.
Tim: Baby, you have nothing to worry about. I'm not meeting with her. You are the woman for me Lucy Chen and nothing will ever change that.
Lucy: Then why are you so afraid to talk to her?
Tim: What?
Lucy: If you really are happy that you broke up with her then why is it so scary to just hear her out.
Tim: I don't know.
Lucy: Look, if you don't want to talk to her, I get it but I really think you should hear her out.
Tim: Then why don't you talk to her?
Lucy: What? Uh cuz that would be weird. Your girlfriend talking to your ex because you're to coward to talk to her yourself.
Tim: Look, I don't want to hear what she has to say. There was more to our break up than just me wanting to be with you. If you want to hear her out, I'm not stopping you.
Lucy: Okay, whatever you say.
Lucy had no intentions of getting in the middle of Tim and his ex so she decided to drop it. She didn't hear about Ashley again from Tim and she figured that he either spoke to her or Ashely had stopped trying to get in touch with him.
Two days later while Lucy was on shift her phone rang, it wasn't a number that she recognized but she decided to pick up anyway.
Lucy: Chen
Ashely: Hi Lucy, Its Ashley McGrady Tim's
Lucy: Ex, yeah, I remember. What can I do for you Ashley.
Ashely: I have been trying to get in touch with Tim for over a week now and he hasn't responded to any of my calls or texts.
Lucy: Yeah, he mentioned that.
Ashely: Oh, you two
Lucy: Started dating, yeah. I'm sorry Ashely if this is weird.
Ashely: No, I always knew he had a thing for you. It was obvious from the beginning I guess I was just hoping we could somehow make it work out between us anyway I didn't want to have to involve you in all of this but it's really important that I talk to Tim as soon as possible.
Lucy: Is everything okay?
Ashely: Yes, I just look, please is there any way you can convince him to meet with me?
Lucy: Tim said he just wants to move forward and not look back. He said if I wanted, I could talk to you but he just doesn't want to talk with you right now.
Ashely: Oh
Lucy: I don't know what happened between you two, he never told me and I never asked but he said it was complicated and messy.
Ashely: Yeah, that's putting it nicely. Look I understand him not wanting to speak with me again. I know this is unconventional for me to ask but can I meet with you, talk to you explain what's going on and then maybe you can somehow
Lucy: I will talk it over with Tim and let you know
Ashely: Thanks Lucy, I really appreciate.
Lucy hung up her phone, she was confused and nervous. She had no clue what Ashley wanted from Tim but Ashley had sounded worried on the phone. She waited until Metro came back from their call before going into Tim's office.
Tim: Lucy, hi.
Lucy: Hey, we need to talk.
Tim: I thought we agreed to keep our relationship a secret while at work, can we talk later?
Lucy: Ashely called me.
Tim: Okay, I didn't see that coming. Come in and close the door.
Lucy: She sounded worried on the phone; she really wants to talk to you.
Tim: I know, but Lucy, like I already told you, I can't do this with her right now, not while you and I are still so fresh and new. I just don't want to screw it up.
Lucy: Babe, talking to her won't scare me away.
Tim: I know, it's not that. I just please don't make me do this.
Lucy: She said if you won't talk to her then she would like to meet with me instead, as your girlfriend.
Tim: You told her about us?
Lucy: I didn't have to, she guessed.
Tim: Wouldn't that be really strange for you to talk with her?
Lucy: Yes, but for you of course I would do it.
Tim: Then go, talk to her. If you really think I should hear her out, text me and I'll come join.
Lucy: Are you sure?
Tim: Yes, I'm sure.
Grey opened up the door to Tim's office and was surprised to see Lucy standing there.
Tim: Officer Chen, I believe I told you in the past you can not come into this office, you are not part of metro and I am not your training officer anymore.
Lucy: I'm sorry sir.
Lucy walked out of the office, closing the door behind her. She quickly texted Ashely that she could meet up with her later that day for drinks and Ashley texted back asking if they could meet at her place instead. Lucy was hesitant but said okay. She text Tim that she was meeting Ashley that night so they would have to cancel their date for later. Tim was annoyed but understood that she was doing this for him and said okay, see you tomorrow.
Lucy was nervous as she drove to Ashley's place. She was not sure what to expect and prayed that she wasn't making a mistake by doing this for Tim. She easily found a parking space and walked up to Ashley's apartment. She took a deep breath before knocking on the door. Ashley answered the door almost immediately. Lucy took one look at her and understood what was going on.
Lucy: Your pregnant.
