Kuoh Town. Most call it a mundane town in Japan. Barely any crime, and the people were kind and generous. A quiet, peaceful town. Though it was rumored to hold an air of mystery; and they weren't wrong... after all, this town was far from ordinary and mundane. The opposite, in fact.
Gunshots rang through the air and shocked and fearful screams rang through the streets. At a small local market, the customers showered and dropped down and cowered, the cashier holding his hands up as a gun was pointed right at his head, belonging to your average run of the mill robber.
"Put all the money you got in that cash register in the bag! And if I see you trying to call the cops or anything, I'm putting a bullet right through your dome! Ya here?!" The robber snapped, spittle flying from his mouth as he refrained from pulling the trigger. The cashier squeaked in fear, gulping audibly and quickly scrambling to get the money out of the register and stuff it in the bag.
"Good. Good." The masked man snarled with a smirk as he felt the bag get heavier with cash.
"Didn't your momma tell you not to play with guns?"
A raspy voice echoed through the robber's ears. As soon as he turned around to see who was behind him, he was struck in the face with a lightning fast jab. Shocked gasps echoed about, expressions ranging from shock and awe, to horror and fear. More jabs faster than the eye could see struck the robber in the chest, sending him flying and crumbling to the floor, and dropping the bag as a result.
A swift clawed hand caught the bag, belonging to a creature of unknown origin that took the appearance of a semi-armored velociraptor with balls on its feet, colored black and blue with stripes running across its tail and a sleek metal mask worn over its sharp angular head. The most notable thing about its appearance being the circular green and black dial on its chest, resembling that of an hourglass.
XLR8 turned to the cashier and dropped the stolen money on the counter. "Call the cops would ya? 'Kay, thanks, bye!"
Before anyone could even blink, the Kinceleran dashed away in a blur of black and blue, leaving a strong gust of wind in his wake. He zipped through the streets of Kuoh at blinding speeds, letting out a gleeful chuckle as he felt the wind rush past his leathery skin. Green eyes spotted a building up ahead and quickly took a sharp turn into a nearby alleyway. There was a blinding flash of green and a teenaged boy stepped out.
With messy, almost wild neck-length brown hair and dark skin, followed by a round boyish face and dark green eyes, the teenager was dressed in a school uniform, consisting of a black blazer with white and purple accents, worn over a bright green t-shirt with black pants and white and blue sneakers. He was in the process of rolling his sleeves down in order to hide a bulky black wristwatch with green circuitry and accents, two buttons adorning the sides of the smooth metal material; and a small circular dial with a green hourglass.
Ethan Isamu let out a breath as he felt the morning breeze brush past. Throwing his bag over his shoulder, he made his way towards the gate of Kuoh Academy, where many students began piling in to begin the day. Kuoh was originally an all-girl's school but was recently made co-oed; as a result the female to male ratio was quite high. It was rather a prestigious school to boot, it was a wonder anyone got in to begin with.
And its also the start of a whoooole lot of chaos... Ethan thought. How long had it been? A month or so since he had woken up with an alien watch strapped to his wrist and memories of another life? To find out the world he lived in was a fictional world filled with Devils, Angels, Fallen Angels, Gods, and a whole lot of hax and ecchi bullshit?
He originally panicked when he gathered his bearings, getting memories of another life--was... it strained the mind, to make it lightly. And to make it worse, as far as he was concerned, he never existed in that version of his own world, from what he could gather from the memories. He was a background character, with knowledge of future events to come, absolutely no magic or power at his disposal, either.
That was, until he found out the Omnitrix was strapped to his wrist. His memories served him the information of such a device. A technological marvel, a miracle, practically. A device that stored the DNA of millions of aliens; created by the galaxy--no, possibly the universe's smartest being, Azmuth as a way of peace and to walk a mile in another race's shoes.
Originally belonging to the titular hero, Ben Tennyson, otherwise known as Ben 10, the Omnitrix allowed him to transform into a large variety of different aliens with various different powers and abilities, some of which were completely broken.
He may not have had magic, or a Sacred Gear like the Boosted Gear, but he had the next best thing. It was a good thing he had such a boon, too... he was going to need it for the events to come. Especially when he had friends and family to protect. And Kuoh was a danger magnet. It didn't help that one of his friends in question were directly tied to the future events at play.
Ethan let out a tired breath. Unfortunately he didn't have the infinite catalogue of aliens Ben had. He only had a playlist of 10 aliens, but he was sure that would be enough. He had to get better at using them, anyway... and he could unlock more later down the line. Hopefully. It'd suck ass if he was stuck with 10 in the long game.
Stepping through the gates of Kuoh Academy, Ethan took in a slow breath of fresh air and smiled. "Oh well, no use worrying about stuff that hasn't happened." He shrugged his shoulders and chuckled.
"EEEEEEEEEEEEETHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!"
His ears twitched and he grimaced, before his eyes widened and horror. He didn't have time to react before he was tackled and nearly thrown off his feet. The boy stumbled over himself and grunted as he felt a weight on his back and an airy giggle brush up against his ear.
He sighed and let a small smirk loose, peering over his shoulder and eyeing the girl latching onto him with a deceptively strong grip. "Mei. You gotta be so loud so early in the morning?"
Mei Ryujin was a young girl around his age with chin-length black hair, pigtails, straight bangs, and green highlights framing her face. With a cute round face, peach colored skin and vibrant emerald eyes, she held a tomboyish air to her, dawning the the female Kuoh uniform, she had a rather modest bust, perky and round, with killer thighs and hips model's could only dream of having, the 'Dragon Girl of Kuoh' was one of the many bombshells the school had to offer.
And she was one of his best friends.
Mei snickered and loosened her grip on Ethan, taking a step back and crossing her arms behind her head, she grinned broadly. "Pfhaw~! There's no fun in being all quiet and moody! I'd rather party!"
"Heh, yeah. As if that weren't obvious," Ethan quipped back, the girl's energy being infectious as his smirk widened into a grin. Both friends stepped further into the school, and Ethan looked around with a frown. "Say, have you Ise anywhere?"
"Ise-kun?" Mei quirked a brow and tapped her bottom lip with a finger. "Dunno! But if I have to say..."
"DAMN YOU PERVERTED TRIO!"
"DIE!"
"WE'LL CHOP OFF YOUR BALLS!"
Both teens sweat-dropped and let out an exasperated sigh as they turned towards the commotion. They stepped out of the way to see a bald-headed teen and black-haired boy with glasse rush past them with looks of fear on their faces. Matsuda and Motohoma, who make up two-thirds of the Perverted Trio.
Which only means... Ethan shook his head a and smiled as he and Mei made their way through the crowd to witness residents of the Kendo Club ganging up on one poor soul, leading the pack were Murayama and Katase. Ethan and Mei shared a look and the boy took a step forward.
"Alright girls, break it up. I think the poor guy's had enough." Ethan spoke up, raising his hands in a placating gesture as they whirled around to face him.
"Isamu-kun? And Ryujin-san too?"
"He and his friends peeping again! No way can we let him off the hook!"
"Perverted JERKS!"
"Yeah, well--" Ethan sweat-dropped, scratching the back of his head.
"We'll give 'em a talking down!" Mei piped up, as cheery as ever. "No need to beat on a dead horse, right?"
Morbid analogy... Ethan blinked owlishly.
The girls stared at the two tensely, before Murayama sighed, shoulders slumping. "Alright. Fine. I swear though, this is the last time... c'mon girls." the Kendo Club grumbled under the breath but eventually moved away. Ethan let out a sigh of relief as Mei zipped over to the down boy with energy and laughed, lifting the groaning youth up.
He had messy brown hair with two tufts at the back, a sharp boyish face and brown eyes, wearing the standard Kuoh uniform with a red t-shirt underneath the blazer instead of a dress shirt, the ever unremarkable Issei Hyoudou, self-proclaimed 'Harem King', stumbled to his feet and nursed his bruises.
"Got in trouble again, eh, Ise?" Ethan quipped and cocked his head to the side with a raised brow and amusement smirk.
"Ethan... Mei..." Issei groaned, rubbing his cheek and wincing. He laughed sheepishly. "Yeah, seems like it, huh?"
"Ise, Ise, Ise... always the trouble-maker!" Mei teased, slapping Issei on the back, which caused him to squeak in pain. "At this rate, you'll never get a girlfriend!"
"GRK--!"
"Honestly... Its a wonder you haven't been expelled yet." Ethan snorted, holding back a gut-wrenching laugh as the boy crumpled under Mei's blunt and cheerful honestly.
"Gh...! How could you be so mean, Mei?!" Comical tears streamed down his face. Then he dramatically pointed at the girl. "You don't know the hardships of an average middle-man like me! Compared to handsome bastards like that damned Kiba and Ethan, I'm given the short-end of the stick! HOW THE HELL AM I GONNA GET A NICE PAIR OF TITS AND A BODACIOUS HAREM WHEN I CAN'T EVEN LAND ONE GIR--GUHK-!"
Ethan smacked Issei upside the head with a twitching brow and irritated frown. "Oi. That's your friend you're talkin' 'bout. Don't go call me a handsome bastard, ass!"
"Jerk!"
"Pervert!"
"ASSHOLE!"
"BITCH!"
"Ooookay, boys! That's enough of that!" Mei laughed, throwing his arms around the boys' shoulders and pulling them into a side-hug. "We keep going like this and we'll be late for our next class, y'know!"
"Yeah, yeah..."
"Fine..."
Both boys glanced at each other out of the corner of their eyes and snickered, before smirking and bumping their fists. Mei's grin widened even further and she started dragging them along at alarming speed just as the bell began to ring.
"NOW, LET'S GO GO GO!"
"O-OI, MEI, SLOW DOWN A SEC! WAIT--"
Ethan quickly untangled himself from the mass of limbs as he watched Mei drag Issei off into the school. He smiled and stuffed his hands into his pockets, going on to follow the pair. But he paused in his steps and blinked, before peering up to the higher flows of the school... his eyes widened, and then narrowed.
Leaning against an open window, a wave of billowing crimson hair drifted through the cool breeze, soft sea-green eyes focusing on his own dark green irises. He'd recognize that hair anywhere. Rias Gremory, King of the Gremory Peerage, and one of the Devils governing over Kuoh Town and by extension, the academy.
He had nothing against Rias, but he had a feeling if he was watching him--more accurately, his friends, she was more focused on Issei. He was the Red Dragon Emperor, after all... Inheritor of the Boosted Gear, one of the thirteen Longinus, capable of giving him the power to slay Gods.
And the primary source for all of the battles Issei would be facing later on down the line.
Ethan looked away and broke into a jog to catch up with his friends, a look of resolute determination coming across his face. With his new powers, he'd make sure... he'd make sure both himself and Issei got stronger for what's to come, to protect what they held dear. And he'd be damned if anyone decided otherwise.
A/N:
Lmao. Writer's block is a bitch. I really should focus on other stories and get them past two chapters or more before coming up with new ones, but if I let these ideas fester they'll never leave 'till I write 'em out.
Not a lot happened in this prologue, but that was mainly to just set up some of the main characters and introduce our protagonist, Ethan. Hope I can capture the personality of the DxD characters well.
As usual, leave a review, lemme know if you liked it, ask your questions and I'll answer them - without spoiling shit - and we'll see where the story goes.
