I'm BACK!
Clary POV
It's gray. Everything is gray. Now it's... it's... what is that? Voices overlap. They're getting louder. Louder. Louder. TOO LOUD. MAKE IT STOP.
I hear someone screaming. What is that? Who is that? Shut up!
Jace POV
It's been a week. She's been unconscious for a week. My Clary. I'm in my room and she's laying there on the bed. I can hear the voices of my parents, Aline and Jocelyn downstairs. All week the only sign of life she's shown is breathing. We're all worried. Me, Isabelle, Aline and Jocelyn. Her mother. Clary's mother. Clary passed out after she saw her. But luckily I caught her before she hit the ground. Aline said she must've passed out form shock. She couldn't absorb all this at once.
I learned a few things from Jocelyn and we (Aline and I) told her some stuff we knew about Clary including the baby and the beatings. When she found out she started to the door but Aline stopped her. There was no telling what Valentine could do to her. If he beats Clary just because she looks like her mother imagine what he would do to the real Jocelyn.
Turns out Jocelyn is apart of a secret spy organization and she had to leave on an important mission when Clary was ten. She didn't explain yet telling us she would after Clary awoke. I really hope that's soon.
They look exactly alike. That shouldn't surprise me since they're family. But the similarity is just so striking. Flaming red hair and those bright emerald eyes. The eyes that used to shine with happiness but are now broken...because of me and her father...Valentine. That disgusting beast. What kind of father beats their own child.
We need a plan. We need to do something about that man.
It's about 6:30 and I'm still watching Clary. I don't know how long it's been since I slept. Isabelle came in a few times over the past week trying to persuade me to get some sleep but it didn't work. I had to keep an eye on her.
I'm about to doze off and I usually have coffee but this time I don't. As I close my eyes I hear noises. Someone is whimpering. My eyes shoot open and I sit upright. It's Clary. She's squirming around, her head is thrashing side to side so fast I'm Perry due she's gonna wake up with whiplash.
Her whimpering grows louder until she yelling, "Make it stop! Shut up! Stop!"
Finally I gather my senses and rush to her side. I luck her up and shake her gently but she's still screaming.
"Clary! Wake up! It's not real! Clary wake up!" She wakes up wide eyed and at that same moment Jocelyn and Aline burst through the door.
"Clary! Oh my baby. What happened?" Jocelyn takes her from my arms and squeezes her, whispering things in her ear.
"Mom? Mommy?" Clary starts crying. I look to Aline and we walk out of the room giving them some privacy.
Jocelyn POV
"Mom," she says crying. Her head is buried in my shoulder as it turns into quiet sobbing. "Mom. Where have you been this whole time?!" She is suddenly angry and pulls away.
"You LEFT ME! For TEN years! What was so important that you had to leave your only daughter? Huh? Please tell me." She stands up and crosses her arms glaring at me.
"Clare-bear." Her look softens and she unfolds her arms. Clary smiles and tears up again and this time I join her. I shake my head and get up and hug her.
"I'm so sorry. I wanted to come back. But I made sure you were safe. Aline. I sent her to look after you all these years. I bet she did a pretty good job right?" Clary's look falls and she steps back.
"About that. Valentine is a monster." She looks up at me and I finally see how broken she really is. Her green eyes aren't as full of life as they were when she was just a little girl. "He abuses me. Two years after you left he started beating me. He even um.. Yeah so Aline didn't do a very good job," she says in a bitter tone. This isn't the Clay I left. Although what was I expecting.
When I left Valentine didn't even know why. He didn't believe me when I said I had some business to attend to. He had always thought I was cheating on him with one of my colleagues, Luke Garroway. I had the suspicion he would become violent. He had only ever hit me once. As a father I never expected him to hit his own child.
"Her father always did have a violent strike. He even hit me once," I told her taking her hand. "I'm sorry you had to go through that. But I am going to do whatever it takes to bring him down and make sure he never ever hurts my baby or anyone ever again."
She smiles and nods. "Thanks mom. I missed you so much."
"Oh baby," I hug her and kiss the top of her head. " You have no idea how much I missed you too. God, I've missed you." We sit there for a few minutes until pulling apart.
"I still need an explanation. Why did you leave? I know you work for a secret organization but I just wanna know what was so important."
"It's gonna be a little hard to believe. But after I tell you you have to promise to tell me everything Valentine has ever done to you."
"Yes of course." I take a seat and Clary follows suit.
"When you were 10 I got a call from the organization one day and they informed me of a...
