Chapter 7. Gnawing Question

Yoh P.O.V

"Where are we going?" Yoh looked down at his newest friend who looked up at him with a questioning look.

"Well, the girls was about to buy some clothes so I thought it could be a good idea if we buy some for you as well", Yoh explained. Lyserg immediately narrowed his eyes and the grip around Yoh's arm hardened.

"These are good", he muttered with a displeased look.

"You can't wear those all the time", Yoh said and gestured Lyserg's clothes.

"Yes I can." Lyserg stubbornly looked away from Yoh who sighed.

'He's just like a little child...'

"Okay then, we can say like this, you pick whatever you like and where we're finished we can buy something, candy, ice-cream or whatever you want, okay?" Yoh looked down at Lyserg who seemed to think about what he said. Then he simply nodded."Good", Yoh smiled and ruffled the younger boy's emerald-green hair.

A while later ~

"How about this one?" Yoh held up a white, light blue-checked shirt. Lyserg examined it for a second before he shook his head.

"No", he answered and continued to look around.

'He says no to everything!' Yoh tiredly thought while looking around for something that would fit on Lyserg.

"This one!" Yoh spun around to Lyserg who held up a black and green-striped zipped hoodie with big pockets.

"Well..." Yoh took the hoodie and held it up in front of Lyserg, it fitted him quiet well."Okay then", Yoh smilade and Lyserg happily smiled back at him.

"Better now?" Yoh looked at Lyserg who now wore a white t-shirt under the green and black hoodie, he had dark grey jeans and on his feet he had green sneakers.

"Yes", he nodded with a smile. Then, quicker than than lightning the younger boy stood in front of Yoh, a little too close in Yoh's opinion."Remember what you promised me?" Lyserg asked with a tricky smile.

"Uhm, yes I do", Yoh said and slowly pushed Lyserg away to get personal space.

"Good", Lyserg cheered calmly and the next second his arm was in the grip between Lyserg's hugging arms. Sighting quietly to himself Yoh shook his head with a smile.

"Let's get going", he said to the younger boy who nodded.

"Are you happy now?" Lyserg nodded happily while licking the chocolate-flavored ice-cream Yoh bought him. The two boys met up with the others in the hotel.

"Wow, new style eh?" Chocolove asked Lyserg with a smile while poking him in the side with his elbow.

"Mm-huh", Lyserg nodded with his attention on the extremely good-tasting ice-cream.

"Yoh!" Anna growled.

'What did I do now?!' Yoh panicked on the inside, he didn't want a slap or punishment.

"Yeah?" he asked carefully.

"Don't spoil him!" Anna said in an angry tone while pointing at Lyserg. The young boy blinked innocently while licking his beloved ice-cream.

"Eh... Sorry Anna", Yoh said with an apologizing smile while scratching the back of his head."But he wouldn't have listened on me otherwise..." Anna sighed and Yoh looked at Lyserg who didn't get a thing.

"What?" he asked to everyone's looks.

Yoh tiredly threw himself on his bed with his gaze up at the white ceiling. One more day on the vacation had gone.

"Tired?" Manta asked with his special smile.

"Of course not", Yoh joked with a laugh.

"Enough with the talking", Anna said and clapped her hands."We need to plan how to get that random guy on the street."

"Just because I said random guy about him we don't need to call him that", Horohoro pointed out but immediately shut up when he saw Anna's gaze. Yoh sat up in bed to face the others.

"First of all, how do we find him?" Faust started calmly. The gang looked around at each other, everyone except for Lyserg who was behind Yoh, or somewhere... Yoh didn't pay any attention to what the younger boy was doing.

"We'll just be looking around the area where we saw him", Ren decided shortly.

"Okay then. When we see him, what do we do?" Pirika asked and silence fell over the room. Then, suddenly music started playing behind Yoh and everyone jumped high in surprise.

"What the heck are you doing Lyserg?!" Yoh asked and turned around to find his MP3-player that was turned on. Lyserg had backed away from it with wide eyes.

"Eh..! I-I'm sorry!" he stuttered, clearly surprised and choked.

"Don't worry about it", Yoh smiled and turned off the MP3-player before he turned to the others."Back to the subject", he sighed."Can't we just ask him what his name is or something?" Yoh suggested.

"No, he'll run away", Ren shook his head.

"Can't we just chase him?" Horohoro asked.

"Fine, you stand for the chasing", Ren smirked and Horohoro gave him an angry glance. Yoh saw how Lyserg jumped off the bed and started to walk on the tree-edge on Manta's bed while trying to balance himself so he wouldn't fall.

"Be careful Lyserg!" Yoh immediately said in a nervous tone.

"Yeah, sure", Lyserg answered with a smile and his eyes checking where he placed his feet.

"But if we're gonna catch that random guy-"
"Why do you call him by that?!" Horohoro interrupted.

"- I think we'll start tomorrow", Anna finished he sentence. Yoh looked at the clock, nearly seven.

"Sure, it's to late now anyways", Yoh agreed.

"Can't we go and-"
"Woah!" Yoh's gaze directly looked over to where Lyserg was just in time to see him lose his balance.

"Hey Lyserg!" Thud!

"Aaw..." Yoh immediately knelt down next to Lyserg on the floor."Are you alright?" he asked, clearly worried and placed his hand on Lyserg's shoulder. The younger boy simply nodded while rubbing his head."Did you hurt your head?" Yoh asked, his eyes searching for Lyserg's who looked down in the floor.

"I'm fine", Lyserg mumbled and looked away from Yoh with red cheeks. Yoh sighed with a smile when he understood why Lyserg was looking away from him. He thought he was going to get scolded.

"Hey", Yoh laughed and Lyserg looked at him in the corner of his eye."I'm not angry in you or something", the older boy smiled and Lyserg turned to him.

"Really?" he asked and Yoh nodded.

"Now while you're talking, did you get hurt?" Yoh asked and Lyserg shook his head.

"It doesn't matter when I have you here", Lyserg smiled with red cheeks and the next second, well, you can never guess.

"Is that my arm you're talking to?" Yoh teased the younger boy.

"No!" he smiled and Yoh ruffled his emerald hair.

Lyserg P.O.V

Lyserg followed Yoh while hugging his arm. Yoh had told him that they were going to a cafe because they didn't have anything to do. On their way to the cafe Lyserg could hear Pirika and Tamao whispering to each other. Lyserg looked around at the others, they didn't hear the two girls. Living with the wolves seemed to had improve his senses.

"Don't you find it strange?" Pirika whispered to Tamao.

"What?"
"How he is clinging to Yoh all the time?"
"Lyserg?" Lyserg immediately started to listen closer, why were they talking about him?"Well... kind of."
"What if he..?"
"He..?"

"You know, love him..?" Pirika asked.

'Love... love...' Lyserg thought over the word, what did it mean now again? He couldn't remember.

"Maybe... I don't know..."
"It's kind of cute if it's like that, but poor him, Anna'll kill him if she get to know it."
"Yeah..."

"Lyserg?" Lyserg looked up at Yoh."Is something the matter?"
"No", Lyserg shook his head, and that was his first lie to the older boy who made him feel all warm in the inside.

No matter how much time slowly passed by Lyserg couldn't sleep. Pirika's and Tamao's conversation gnawed in the back of his head. Love, what was it? It was something good, wasn't it? Slowly looking over his shoulder to make sure Yoh was asleep Lyserg carefully crept under the duvet. He never slept under it, he wasn't used to it and he didn't need to. But right now... he didn't know. Humans always slept in beds with duvets and pillows, they ate on plates with forks and knives or what it was called and they could get whatever they wanted. Animals lived very simple. The hunted, ate, maybe played a little or slacked of and then got to sleep. Humans always need to have fun, or it at leased seemed like it.

Lyserg was now under the warm duvet. He looked Yoh in the back, the stupid question still gnawing in the back of his head. Lyserg had first been against the luxury life of the humans but right now it actually was quiet cozy under the duvet. He and Yoh, they were... so close to each other.

Lyserg turned around in the bed. It didn't take long before he once again turned to meet Yoh's back. And he turned again, and again. With a deep sigh he blew away a few strands from his shining, emerald-green eyes. He couldn't sleep, but why?

"Lyserg..?" a groggy voice asked. Lyserg froze. Yoh was awake, he had awaken him.

'If I stay quiet he'll fall asleep again...', Lyserg thought. He didn't dare to breathe, what if he was going to get scolded? That's how it worked in a wolf-pack, did the humans do the same thing? After a while Yoh turned around and their eyes met."Is something wrong?" Yoh asked and rubbed his eyes while yawning. Lyserg quietly shook his head."Why didn't you just say that you wanted to sleep under the duvet?"

"Eh..." Lyserg didn't knew what to say. He wanted to ask Yoh what love was, but would Yoh laugh at him for asking such a stupid question? He didn't seem to be that kind of person but still...

"You couldn't sleep I guess?" Yoh asked and Lyserg nodded."Is anything bothering you?"

"Well... yeah", Lyserg said with blushing cheeks and his eyes broke contact with Yoh's.

"Wanna share it with me?" Yoh smiled. That smile. Lyserg just liked so much. That smile could get anyone to trust the boy in front of him, give courage to anyone and he always had that smile that made Lyserg's inside feel all cozy and warm. After some seconds of hesitation Yoh blinked wonderingly."You don't have to tell me if you don't...", he said.

"Something's been stuck in my head for a while now", Lyserg admitted.

"Mm-huh", Yoh nodded, forcing Lyserg to make himself carry on.

"Yoh... what more exactly is love?" Lyserg asked, his cheeks immediately blushed even redder. He looked away from Yoh, he was way to embarrassed to look at the older boy who just blinked in surprise.

"Well..." He seemed to think and Lyserg nervously began to bit his lip."It's when you like some really much. Your inside gets warm and you feel very happy. It's the best I can explain", Yoh admitted with his apologetic smile."Why are you asking?" The embarrassed silence from Lyserg seemed to make him understand."You don't need to be ashamed for asking. I mean, you haven't befriended a human before, right?" Lyserg slowly nodded, lie number two."How about we get to sleep now?" Yoh asked with his special smile. He ruffled Lyserg's hair and a thousands of butterflies fluttered inside his stomach. He turned around to face the wall. Yes, that's right, he remembered what love was now.

'It's when you like some really much. Your inside gets warm and you feel very happy.' Yoh's words echoed inside his head. Wait now a minute... Lyserg's green eyes immediately grew larger. Now he got it, he was in love with Yoh.

Phew! I've always found it hard to write in English but after a while everything just carried on by itself, I really hope everything's right now XD.
