Everyone from freedom fighter HQ was outside for the eclipse. After much anticipation the show began. A giant orb came over the sun, and made everything dark, darker then everyone expected.

"this better not be some sort of attack or something..." sonic said.

"it's not sonic, it's normal." Said sally.

While this was going on, team dark's plan to steal the chaos emeralds from the freedom fighters was now rolling in action.

"now E-123 omega!" said rouge the bat. The robot cut the power to the freedom fighters HQ, and without them noticing the power went out in the building.

Rouge and shadow snuck into the HQ, with elite the bat following them behind, trying not to get seen by the freedom fighters as they kept their eyes on the sky.

"see shadow" rouge said opening one of the back doors to the freedom fighters HQ, "without the power, we don't have to worry about security camera's or alarms catching us. We still need to make this quick though..."

"obviously..." said shadow. "did you at least brought a flashlight."

Rouge pulled a flashlight out. "do you really think I would be unprepared for something like this?" she said shinning it in his eyes.

"get that damn thing out of my eyes!" he said putting his hand in front of his face blocking the light.

"come on, let's go look for these emeralds..." said rouge.

As the two looked around Elite followed close behind, but quietly so she wouldn't get caught,

"hey tails..." said sonic. "can you get me a drink from the fridge?"

"sure..." tails said getting up and heading to headquarters. He went inside and tried to turn on the lights, but nothing.

"uh guys...I think the powers out..." tails said returning back from the front door after his discovery.

"what?" said sally.

"no power?" said Nicole.

"well there goes that fun. Now where going to be left in the dark for however long this eclipse is, and then again at night!" said sonic.

The gang investigated inside HQ. something wasn't right.

"this is bad." Said Nicole. "all our security systems are down..."

"let's look around just in case someone got in..." said sally.

"good idea." Said amy, "even better if me and sonic can look in the back..."

Sonic quickly sped away.

"he would..." said amy pouting.

"here amy, I'll look in the back with you, tails and Nicole, you look in where we have the chaos emeralds store. I have a feeling that if anyone where to break in here they would be looking for those." Sally said, handing them a flashlight.

"got it." said tails.

Meanwhile, shadow and rouge where already there. Without any worry of an alarm going off rouge broke both glasses holding them, and took the chaos emeralds from their case.

Just as they were about to leave though, they heard footsteps.

"don't worry, I got this." Said shadow. "chaos control." He said in a somewhat low voice. Tails and Nicole arrived only to find the emeralds where missing.

"great...someone took them..."

"this must be a setup. I can't use too much of my power due to there not begin a supply at the moment but from what I'm getting someone cut it. The power from the main generator is disconnected..."

"we better go tell sally."

Just as tails and Nicole were about to head out the door something pushed them back.

"ow, what the..." said tails

"I'm sorry tails, but telling sally isn't an option." Said shadow, now visible to the to (or as visible as they would be in the dark.) tails quickly grabbed his flashlight and put it on shadow, conforming that his ears weren't lying.

"shadow! Rouge!"

"I'm surprised you didn't just hide until they left." Said rouge.

"Mind as well take them out now." Said shadow. Shadow slowly walked up to tails and Nicole, who backed up against the wall. Tails put Nicole behind her, protecting her from the ultimate life form, who wasn't someone you wanted to mess with, especially with chaos emeralds in hand.

"now tails, we can do this the easy way where you and you're friend here leave WITHOUT saying anything to sonic or sally, or we could do this the hard way. It sure would be a shame if you're friend there got hurt."

"I won't let you hurt her!" said tails.

"tails don't. it's ok I'm a halo-gram, I can always return to the virtual world if I run out of power."

"you're human enough to me Nicole, and I'm not letting this creep get away with the chaos emeralds, ultimate life form or not!"

"very well then..." said shadow cracking his knuckles. "I'm sorry to do this to you tails, but you left me no choice..."

"leave him alone you freak!" shadow and rouge turned around. In the doorway stood the hedgehog who had been following them.

"and who the hell are you?" said rouge.

"I'm Ellie, Ellie the bat queen..."

Behind the writing

Shadow: we should almost be there...

Flashlight dies

Shadow: great...now what...

Rouge: just feel you're way around...

Shadow walks against the walls blindly

Shadow: ugh, I can't believe I'm doing this.

The two see a door

Rouge: this must be it! opens it only to be the front door, the FF outside turn around and see shadow and rouge

Shadow: uh...I can explain...CHOAS CONTROL!

Him and rouge disappear in front of the FF who turn around like nothing happened.
