Author's Note

Story Theme: Skyrim – Jeremy Soule

I was totally going to swear I'd never write something like Skyrim again, but guess what? Dawnguard and Dragonborn. But I'm really going to try to have them not take me two years each, like Skyrim did. Hear that? Two years. Congrats to the people who had the insane amount of patience to follow Taryn's fateful adventure into Skyrim from the beginning. Seriously, guys. Props to you. And for those who may have just joined the read or joined it in progress, I bid you a grateful welcome and a very ecstatic thanks-for-reading to all!

I still can't wrap my mind around it. Two. Years. Gotta say, a lot's happened since then. Hopefully it's for the better, especially since most of it revolves around my writing. I thoroughly enjoyed walking with Taryn on her adventure (except for the parts where she either wouldn't shut up or wouldn't talk at all), and I'm looking forward to surprising you all with new stuff later.

So, I have to get a few things straight first: a lot of you noticed I put Skyrim on hiatus once. Let me say that I never put things on hiatus, and it killed me to do it for Skyrim. Hands down, I had no motivation to do it. It was dragging on and I wanted it over with, but there was still so much to do and so many things to explore that it simply felt like a chore, and with the added first year of university, having to find a suitable job and simply all the stuff that was weighing on me, I couldn't. So I deeply apologize to my wonderful readers, who stayed with the story when it was on that ungodly hiatus. And yes, while I did write something for Assassin's Creed during that time, it was only because I had the motivation to do it. For Skyrim, it just wasn't there.

Which is why I'm glad to end it here for now, until I come out with Dawnguard. Some of you may have noticed another inFAMOUS fic I'm working on. For those of you who are interested in it, I just want to say that I'll only be posting updates when I get around to it, so there's no set schedule whatsoever. I'm still figuring out the plot and whatnot. Besides, there's still another Assassin's Creed story I need to get around to. And one that's been in the works for a whole year...

But this is a Skyrim author's note, so let's focus on Skyrim. Or, most notably, my reviewers. First I want to say that I like reviews. Like, really, really like reviews. I like getting feedback, and while I don't always expect a three paragraph essay on how I'm doing and how you liked my recent chapter, it's always nice to see the review number pop upwards a little bit. I'm sure you all understand the warm fuzzy feeling of getting a review. Hands down, reviews encourage me to do better. You didn't like the chapter? What didn't you like about it? You liked it? What did you think was whacky and something that you didn't expect at all? It helps me figure out the direction you guys would prefer, and one I'd enjoy writing.

So, to my reviewers: The Liesmith, RavingSunshine, Sanokal, Thedarkstorm, HeWhoMustWrite, skyone2009, Skwisguar, Bi0hazard0us, Valfreya, Omega Collaborative, Myrrh4885, MasterAssassin2012, OphyBoing, Severen, lyra, FloridaMagpie, Altair Ibn-La'Ah, StrengthAndHonour, Lucafred, snarfle, Duesal Bladesinger, Shamangirl1, Omega Gilgamesh, Baby Fawn, Amy, and Deadman 0317.Thank-you all for reviewing! And to the guests! (If you sign in as a guest, I'm unable to reply to your questions. I appreciate the reviews, but I'd also like to answer whatever questions you ask!)

In case you guys didn't know, I had a bit of a run-in with plagiarism while writing Skyrim. I just wanted you all to know that it sucks to see your own hard work being passed off as another's, and I urge you not only to avoid doing something like that, but to report it the moment you see it. I was appalled when people reviewed the work and commented on how detailed it was, but didn't even notice how the author had failed to remove many sentences that placed my characters within their story without them noticing, and how there were distinct differences in style that were blatantly obvious when he placed his own character within. Guys, I don't mean to be preachy, but it's wrong and it really sucked knowing someone else was taking credit for my hard work.

Anyhow, I have some last things to say: like all YouTubers, I have a Google+ account, which was gracefully forced upon us. Now, I'd like to tell you all how much I hate author's notes in the middle of a story. It takes away from the experience, in my opinion, but to each their own. As I was reading through the site rules once, I realized that putting author's notes at the end of a story as its own chapter, as I've been doing, is kind of not allowed. Oops. So, you may wonder about the relation between the things I've just said. As it happens, I want to be more involved with you guys and let you know how things are progressing, or just add fun little tidbits of information or whatnot on current or future projects.

Therefore, I am going to suggest you all use the Google+ accounts for at least one useful thing, if you have them, so I can know what you guys want on a better level rather than polls every few months. You'll be able to see the covers of some new projects, some information on the characters I've created, and you'll be able to find out why it's taking me so damn long to update and nag me more efficiently! Yay! (No, seriously though, I need the nagging.)

Anyhow, if you're interested, be sure to drop me a private message asking for my username, since it isn't the same as the one here. I'm hoping to see a good turnout.

But I have one last thing for you guys. Since Taryn's going to be away for a little bit, you may end up missing her. Well, there's actually a solution to this longing. My good friend MasterAssassin2012 is in the process of writing her Skyrim fic Redemption, which has a few characters you may recognize. It's sort of a "What if?" version of my Skyrim that ties into her own Dragonborn. Check it out, drop a review or two, and remember to enjoy yourselves!

It's been a great amount of fun writing Skyrim. Next time, look forward to a slightly more mature Dovahkiin in Dawngaurd and Dragonborn!
