Chapter Six
"You're dead meat!" Clarisse popped out with her lackeys.
"Shoot." I said aloud, although a different word was going through my mind. I looked at Percy.
"What do we do?" I asked.
"Run?" He sounded nervous, so I patted him on the back.
"I don't think so." Clarisse said, advancing on us.
"Oh gods. We're so totally screwed."
"Probably." Percy said.
"Actually, no, we'll beat her butt." I ran forward and pinched her arm before running back to Percy. Her face contorted into one's much like a hog.
"Hey!" She raised her spear and Percy brought up his sword. I pulled my weapon out, although it felt feeble compared to theirs. I held Zaroc across my body in a defensive position. Clarisse charged forwards and I quickly stepped out of the way, leaving Percy alone against her. I promise it was unintentional.
I hid in the bushes as I watched Percy get beat up. Sure, I felt like a bad friend but... then I decided I should probably help him. I stepped out and attacked Clarisse with a battle cry.
"AAARRRGGHH!" I held my knife up and tried to stab her but I only managed to graze her shoulder. Finally, Percy and I were both pretty battered up on the ground as Luke ran past with the opposing team's flag.
"Yeah!" I said half-heartedly. My arms were sore, and so were my legs, and head, and, well my whole body was sore. I luckily had enough strength to sit up. Percy managed stand up into the creek as Annabeth approached us.
"What's up." I said but she ignored me.
"Nice fighting." She commented to Percy.
"You set us up!" He exclaimed. "You knew me and Lexi would distract Clarisse while you and Luke got the flag."
"Athena always has a plan." She said slyly.
"Rude." I muttered but no one seemed to hear me.
"A plan to get us pulverized?" Percy asked.
"I came as fast as I could, but you guys didn't need any help." She looked at Percy's arm. "How did you do that?"
"Sword cut. What do you think?
"No it was a sword cut." She said. "Look at it."
The blood from his arm disolved and the cut began to heal itself.
"I-I don't get it." Percy said.
"Neither do I." I stated, I was staring as his wounds slowly dissappeared.
"Step out of the water, Percy." Annabeth told him.
He stepped out of the creek and instantly he looked tired and worn down. The look on Annabeth's face suggested that this wasn't a good thing. She started to say something but that was soon forgotten.
A large black beast appeared out of a fire.
"HELLHOUND!" I heard someone yell.
"Well that doesn't sound good." I said.
"Someone from the camp let it in." Chiron said. The Hellhound was struck with arrows until it fell dead at Percy's feet. Luke walked over, the banner in his hands forgotten. I still sat on the ground.
"Percy did it! It's Percy's fault." Clarisse accused instantly.
"Be quiet, girl." Chiron chastised. Everyone was quiet and wierd and it was just extremely awkward. I suddenly felt the need to scream 'Pink Chocolate!' but I resisted as to not embarrass myself. I looked up at Percy and noticed something hovering above his head. It was a trident.
Percy noticed everyone staring at him and said, "What?"
"Percy... Look" I pointed above his head and he managed to get a glance right before it dissappeared. He looked slightly confused and stunned.
"You're father..." Annabeth muttered. "This isn't good."
"It is determined." Chiron said.
"My father?" Percy asked.
"Poseidon," said Chiron. "Earthshaker, Storbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jacks, Son of the Sea God.
The next morning Percy left the Hermes cabin for his very own Cabin Three. From then on he was kind of isolated by the other camper now, like he had some strange disease they didn't want to catch.
Kids talked behind his back about the hellhound incident, whispering rumors about him. I never participated in these gossip sessions, but still I didn't get to see Percy as much anymore. I spent more time with Tanith and Luke, and sometimes Annabeth, whom I felt like was becoming my friend more and more each day.
The next week or so put me into a routine. Wake up, eat breakfast, do all my activities, eat dinner, go to sleep. My life was a repeat every single day. So, I decided to change it up one morning.
I was eating breakfast, sitting next to Tanith and Luke. I took my pink milk, which I now had daily, and 'accidentally' spilled it on Tanith's shorts.
"Lexi!" She exclaimed, grabbing napkins to try and dry it out.
"What?" I asked innocently, which earned me a glare from look. She grabbed a waffle from her plate and shoved it in my face. I wiped it off, feeling syrup left on my face. I grabbed the banana from my plate and threw it at her. This little food fight between me and Tanith continued for a few more minutes, before Luke finally stopped us.
"Fine, we'll stop." I said. I sat down and started to eat what was left on my plate. Then, to his surprise, I threw a piece of pancake on his hair.
"Real mature, Lexi, but I'm not going to join in your food fight." Luke said.
"Party pooper." Tanith commented. I nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, Luke. We were just having some fun, and now you've ruined it." I put on a little pouty face. Luke shrugged.
"Sorry." He said monotonously.
"Whatever, we're going to go get cleaned up now that you ruined our food fight." I stood up and left the pavillion and Tanith followed me.
Later that day I saw Percy and decided I should talk to him.
"Hey Percy! What's up?" I greeted in a friendly way.
"Nothing, I just..." He said.
"Just... what?" I asked.
"I've just been given a quest to go get Zues's stolen lightning bolt because he thinks that I've stolen." He told.
"That's strange, I wouldn't have picked you out to be a theif."
"I'm not! But now me Grover and Annabeth have to go find it and give it to him by the Summer Solstice in like ten days."
"Man that sucks." I patted his back, sort of awkwardly.
"Yeah." There was a short moment of silence before he said, "So how's it going the Hermes Cabin?"
"Oh, fine you know. It gets as normal and boring as it can in there." I said.
"So do you have any guess who your godly parent is?" He asked.
"No. I have no clue. It kind of makes me feel abandoned sometimes, you know? Like why wouldn't my mom have already claimed me? Is she too busy to tend to her own kids?" I pondered.
"I'm sure she'll claim you soon, Lexi, who wouldn't want you as their child? You're a great person."
"Thanks, Percy, you sure know how to make a person feel better." There was another moment of silence. "Well, I should get going."
"Yeah, see you later, Lexi."
"Bye, Percy, and good luck with your quest thingy!" I called out to him as I walked away. I had just told him 'Good Luck' but somehow I feel as if I jinxed his whole quest.
Percy left for his quest the next morning, but other than that, the day continued on as usual. Until dinner that night. I was just done eating my scrumptious tomato soup and I stood up and started to leave the pavillion. I felt people staring at me and I looked down. There was a pink glow around me and my clothes had changed. I was now wearing a light pink dress with a sweetheart neckline, the front ended at about my knees and the back flowed down towards my ankles.. A gold necklace decorated my neck and gold bands surrounded my wrists. I reached my hands up to my hair to feel it down. My blonde hair was in curls, now, and I was wearing a head band with pink flowers on it. I was pretty much in shock.
"Lexi..." Luke said softly.
"Hail, Alexandra Ryan, daughter of Aphrodite, goddess of love."
