Knuckles and the chotix's entered the freedom fighters HQ.
"hey guys. What are you all doing here?" asked sonic.
"funny thing you ask, ever hear the one about the guys who got kicked off the island because of the babylon's?" said charmy.
"Don't remind me...see why I don't let anyone on my island! The babylon's of all people would take over the island!"
"aw come on knuckles they rushed us, and they have a new member." Said vector trying to cheer knuckles up.
"a new member?" said sonic.
"yeah, his name is preadator the hawk."
"preadator the hawk? Why do I have a feeling I've heard about him before."
"probably someone who crossed over from the old world." Said espio.
"just great, another one..." said sonic.
"hey we tried to stop them, but they bum rushed us. They came out of nowhere and cleaned house on us" said victor.
"I spotted them." Said charmy.
"but after that it was all downhill..." he added.
"all right, knuckles, let me get the riders gear." Said sonic.
"I'll get my gear too..." said tails, who overheard the conversation.
"uh...tails." said sonic.

"I'd like you to stay behind."
"what? But why?" asked tails.
"lesson buddy, I just don't want you to get hurt. That and this is the master emerald were talking about, they're probably going to be pretty aggressive trying to get it."

"just stay behind for now...I'm sorry tails but you're still pretty young." He said.

Tails hurried back to his workshop where he just sat on his bed.
"come on sonic, you should have taken him along the more the merrier" said charmy.
"look, I can understand why sonic did it, tails is still young, in fact, I want you to stay behind too." Said victor.
"what? Why me?" said charmy.
"because this is the master emerald were talking about, and if you mess this up knuckles is gonna pound you into the next decade!" said victor.
"alright I'll stay back." he said.
"I really need to exercise..." thought charmy.
Sonic and the others grabbed there rider gear and headed up to the island. While this was going on, sally went to check on tails.
"tails?" she called.
"hey..." tails said, still sad.
"there you are...look tails, I'm sorry sonic didn't let you go on the mission, but I agree with his call. Things are a bit tense around here and we don't want any fallen members or injured members at a time like this..." said sally.
"I understand..." said tails, still bumbled out about everything. It just didn't add up to tails why sonic would let him do the dream world mission, but not this.
"if you're up to it you can help me and Nicole with some stuff around the HQ." said sally.
"ok..." said tails, still somewhat upset. Sally left, tails laid back on his bed.
"poor guy, he seems pretty upset." Said a person watching him on the screen.

"hmmm, ask and you shall receive tails... my friend here is saddened that he isn't a part of this mission to protect the chaos emerald, I was wondering if you would be so kind to give him a free trip to the island." The boogeyman nodded his head.
"very good, make sure he's safe..." The boogeyman poofed into black smoke.
"trust me on this one iron, with contacts from the boogeyman we will have some control over him and the dimensions he goes in, we must cover it up thought. I don't want sonic or his pals to know yet."
"very well sir, and when should I go after this little guy."

Tails was still resting, sitting on his bed, when suddenly he heard something.
"hello?" he said. He looked around.
"anybody there?"
Tails looked around, before he heard breathing behind him. He turned around and let out a yelp, seeing the boogeyman. Before he could run the boogeyman came down on him and disappeared in a black smoke with tails.
